I have lived outside the US for almost 20 years and have traveled to about 50 countries and no way do I have plans of returning to the U.S. I think the U.S. peaked in the 1950s with a couple of tech bursts in the 80s, but now the competition has caught up, and now there are so many more places with more freedom, higher quality of life, and ease of living than the U.S. Beautiful painting in your office by the way.

To all those who wanna immagrate outta the US this year best of luck from Ireland! Find a new better life where you can. I saw how bad things became for you guys and I pity you citizens. You deserve a better, more finacially suitable and safer way to live your lives. Political parties divides your own people into fights, student loans are too much for most young adults to pay, homelessness has increased in parts of the US, housing is nowadays hard to buy for to live in Not to mention the taxes. The shootings in schools and small towns and people assaulting you for having an opinion that isn't theirs. What the Hell happened, US?

I spent 6 years, several thousand dollars to USCIS, and 70% of my energy and mental health getting US citizenship and I regret it! I'm in research on how to renounce it and get back my Georgian citizenship. I had no idea that I should have reported to the IRS that I have some properties in Georgia and now I'm going to be taxed because of that although they haven't been purchased after becoming a US citizen. This is absolutely crazy. Only if I had all this information before becoming a citizen would be a lifesaver. This isn't the country of freedom. It is a country of paying taxes in every step you make. Even when you fart. I feel like something is suffocating me to breathe properly.

My Mother an American married my Dad who is a New Zealander and migrated to NZ. My mother surrendered her US citizenship in 2018 with the utmost hesitation but she couldn't comprehend the need to do US tax returns when she hasn't permanently lived in the country for over 30 years. She also retained it just incase I wanted to apply for US citizenship before I turned 18 but I said no at the time. I'm proud of my American heritage but I identify as a New Zealander.

“Being a citizen of countries that are not judgmental” You really hit the nail on the head. That is the key thing that bothers me about the US. Not only is the government that way, but the people themselves are competing with each other to be more judgmental. I quit my unstable job and my cobra payment was $600 a month FU HMSA. I retired early and moved overseas 2 years ago. The best decision I have ever made . Hawaii has become unaffordable. Then in the mid 80’s, 2 jobs, always stress and anxiety. We started to have a homeless problem more than 2 decades ago and it has exploded everywhere on the island. Growing up I maybe saw 1-2 homeless at Ala Moana park. The cost of living is double or triple what you pay on the mainland. Hi Andrew, thank you for this video. I've only recently discovered your channel and am looking into leaving the US for the very reasons you outlined here. It's not as much a financial issue for me as much as it is the way I now see that the US has become: tribal, boorish, ignorant, hypocritical, pushy. Honestly, I've only ever seen a couple of your other videos, and based solely on the comments on your message board I always thought you were a bit of a nut (sorry!). But now, after seeing this video, I think I understand you better and I definitely have a better opinion of you. I may not agree with everything you say, and my specific situation is different from yours, but I think that -- at the core -- we have the same motivations for wanting to leave the US. Thank you for being so frank and honest in this video!

Being level headed is a difficult road in North America. I just saw this video, and am surprised that it was released three years ago, not last week. I am a carpenter in Canada, I make way less money than your regular audience (I can crack six figures, but I spend half the year in Brazil). In Canada, on the prairies, I live under snow and ice for six months, and am taxed more than people from the US. I have a highly desirable skill. I have found an ecological reserve in Brazil that is over 15,000 acres big, owned and run by a very wealthy Brazilian man who own part of a gold mine. He is an absolute joy to work with. He has no barriers between his vision and execution. I am going to develop a new way to build sustainable homes that are structurally redundant, and last for hundreds of years. This is viable because of the climate and high quality materials here. No matter how much money I have saved, within the next two years, I'm staying permanently. Rural Brazil is paradise.

I agree with most of the points that you made, but we all know that the wars that America engages in does not put American first. America's foreign policy is run by special interest and the wars that we have fought on their behalf has added trillions of dollars to our nation debt. If you look at tariffs on goods imported to the US vs American goods sold abroad, you will see again the hand of the special interest groups at work. In the final analysis maybe it doesn't matter, America is a mess, but lets not forget who is responsible because they are also busy wrecking other countries, particularly the liberal democracies of the West.

In my eyes its simple: you either care about America, and Americans, and want to fight for something better for America- or you don't like America/Americans, don't like American culture etc etc. It would be an easy decision to give up your American citizenship of you fall into the later camp. I stay in America because I care about the trajectory of our future here. I could easily get, for example, Israeli citizenship (I'm a Jew) but I stay here because I want to be a part of the fight for something better.

I wouldn't care that much about this place to try to improve it. I live here in Ca. which I loathe too much. I would sooner piss on this place before I do anything for it. So for me the only viable option would be to get out instead.

Well everyone has their own decisions, but when you look at the settlers and the reasoning to come to America, it was because they were looking for a better life.....back in those days the people they left behind, were they telling and saying the same things we would say to those who leave America???? It's an individual decesion and asking yourself is a better life to be gained through staying in America or settling to another country
@jasonlee8156
@jasonlee8156 3 года назад
@@reyannawynters1800 Depends on what your looking for. Not everyone is looking for the same thing in life. Situation in colonial america was a lot different than today. Back then you didn't have as many people as you do now. Less populated back then. Also even today you have people leaving one part of the U.S. and going to another part of the U.S. for the same reason: looking for a better life. For example a lot of people have been moving out of California and moving to another state. For economic/political reasons.

@@reyannawynters1800 Yup the settlers/invaders fled their downtrodden lives in the Old World so they can dish out what they received in the Old World to the Natives of the New World and then when they became wealthier in the New World, their slaves. After about four or more centuries of settlement the Old World surpasses the New World in terms of safety, quality of life, standard of living, healthcare etc. The New World is falling further and further behind because the settler/invader descendants never really adapted to new ideas and tech and new politics.

For regular people it is so much easier to feel financially secure, or even survive financially in an medical emergency situation if they are legal residents of a an EU country. You do not need to fear bankruptcy if you happen to need an appendectomy, one day... And what's important for the middle class, is that you do not have to keep the bar so high to live a quality lifestyle outside of the USA. One can live the same or better lifestyle in the EU from a half of what one was making in the USA. That would be more than enough for many people to leave the USA. But individual tax rates may be ridiculously high in some cases (up to 49% in some EU countries).

S.A. Sure you may not go bankrupt from going to an EU hospital but the cost of living is rising their too and the wages are mostly lower than in the US/ And we are staring to see the effects of the covid shutdowns there on the middle-class..

It isn't 49% of all of your income. Income tax is in bands. The band's vary depending on which European country you are in. In UK. Someone earning 160,000 will pay 0% on 12,500. 20% on 12,501 to 50,000 = 37,500= 7,500 tax. 40% on 50,001 to 1500,00 = 99,999 = 39,999 tax. 45% tax 150,001 to 160,000 = 9,999 = 4,499 tax Total tax on 160,000 = 51,998 = 32.49% Tax. Including health costs.

Don’t need to give up your citizenship, I’ve been living in Spain for the past 25 & have double nationality..you are entitled to it if you comply with residency requirements..it’s great to have 2 options while traveling

But if you have a high income outside of the US if you are a us citizen, you still need to report and pay taxes on it.
