Why I’m returning my Gaggia Evo Pro + trying MokaPot coffee 

Hi. Just wanted to say that if you got the Bialetti Moka Express, it’s not an espresso maker, it’s simply a regular coffee pot that makes coffee a bit stronger than an American instant coffee pot. For the closest to an espresso experience you need to get the Bialetti Brikka Moka Pot :)

Good morning! I just went back to my Moka pot. It is still the best way for me. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease years ago so now I can only drink almost 0 to no acidity in drinks. Coffee, they sell like this does not have the same taste but with my Moka pot, it is almost like espresso and the flavor is a lot better. Brings me back to a real cafe latte again but without the pain. Have a great week!

Could juts be coffee grounds. Did you take off your shower screen and distribution head to make sure they are fully cleaned prior to doing your test?

Whoa thank you. I hadn't heard about the flaking until this video randomly popped up in my feed. I got a Gaggia Classic for Christmas from WLL. I have noticed a small flake here and there from the steam wand but dismissed it as errant coffee grounds. Checked Reddit and now I'm like damn... bye bye Gaggia

I have the exact same as you from WLL. White Evo Pro and Specialita Grinder. Mine also has black flakes and have reached out to WLL's customer support. They were super great about offering a replacement and I'm currently awaiting the return shipping label. They did not offer me the store credit option, even though I asked for it. I'm assuming you were also past the 30 days? Wondering which dept was able to help you there?

I love breville best long lasting machine. Had the barista express for 10 years bought for $599 on sale and still sold on offer up used 10 years later for $250. Now upgraded to breville pro wish I could get touch but with price point couldn’t afford but would definitely recommend breville best customer service too! Good luck good coffee is worth it for sure 😃☕️

I've read a lot about 'boilergate'. I bought my Evo in Europe in March 2023, until now i have no issues at all with the boiler. I went for the new Evo for i never liked the idea of the traditional alu boiler, and the new group head of the Evo is very good. However it's all kind of alarming. If i had known it before i would never have bought any Gaggia Classic Pro.

I think this is the first YT video I've seen that addresses the boiler flaking issue with the Gaggia Classic Evo Pro. I'm also experiencing flaking issues on my unit.

I had bambino plus for one month, wand stopped working. Breville had me send machine to them to fix, get machine back (1 month without machine)not even fixed. I call and was told oh our policy is if you own machine less than 3 months it's automatic replacement. I told them after all the run around I can send back to Amazon for refund. That's will be my first and last Breville product. Fyi moka pots are aluminium

I wasn’t aware of the issue with Gaggia Evo and glad you got your credit from Whole Latte Love. I think they are a quality outfit. Since you have a store credit I would encourage you to use that money and upgrade to the Profitec Go which I bought after a few years with the Gaggia Classic. Really happy now for well over one year of use. It will take you much further than the Classic could ever do.

Gaggia North America is the same as Whole Latte Love btw. If anyone has received an E-mail from Gaggia NA, look up the address at the bottom of their E-mail. Same address as WLL. Makes sense as WLL is the official North American distributor/repair center/refurbisher.

Hello there young lady, I am a little miffed that you are the only person on YT currently talking about this. It seems to me that Lance Hendrick or James Hoffman should have already covered this topic with some in depth analysis. Thank you for posting about it and bringing it to peoples attention. Now, as to your solution, I agree with you. If I was in your situation and I found out that I may have been ingesting a mystery coating for months that could potentially cause unforeseen health effects, I probably would tell Gaggia to eff off with their replacement boiler too. What I would point out is that, your replacement machine should not inspire that much confidence either. Casabrews is manufactured in one of those Chinese mystery factories that have nets outside the windows to prevent people from jumping to their death during the workday. This is why the machines are so cheap. I wouldn't say I trusted those sorts of manufacturers very much either. Might I suggest instead, that you look into getting a Rancillio Silva? The Rancillio Silva offers very similar features to the Gaggia you had originally purchased, has a large following so replacement parts and replacement videos are easy to find, and cost about $850, or $350 more than your Gaggia. For that extra money you get a larger stainless steel boiler, a much better steam wand, and in my opinion, a better portafilter (however I would end up replacing that with a wood handle "bottomless portafilter" because they are prettier). Just saying, the Casabrew is chinese disposable crap that will break within several years and be unrepairable. The Rancillio will break and a RU-vid instructional mixed with a $30 replacement part will get it operation again, and you will have it 10+ years. In any case, thank you again for bringing this to peoples attention. I wish you the best on your espresso journey.

I have no idea about proper coffee because I drink those nescafe sachets of latte and cappuccino, and I know that sounds sacrilegious to proper coffee drinkers, but I like them and they're cheap. 😂 I like all your vlogs anyway, so I'm still going to watch one about coffee even though I know nothing about it. 😂

You should consider the Leverpresso Pro or Flair 58 as a replacement. Imo, Levers make the best espresso.

"Boilergate" is horribly exaggerated. A new aluminum boiler is sold for $35 on Whole Latte Love.

If you want tons of viewers, change the title to Gaggia-Boilergate cut out the make-up part, coffee youtubers are cowards and dare not touch the subject!
