Why I’m Worried About TO1 

Woonggi was literally a walking breathing advertisement for TO1. He’s one of the most popular member that was loved by EVERYONE. He isn’t even my bias but I was so devastated when he was going under hiatus and when the rumors of him being kicked out was established, I was extremely upset.

i really don't understand... both magnolia and no more x were masculine badass concepts and the three members who left did fine. the concept photos for their new comeback look colorful and bright. what the hell do the company means by 'team identity' then? 💀 the identity of a group shouldn't be their concept or music, but the people who make the group😓

I really hope woonggi Jerome and minsu redebut in an other group ! They are so talented and funny 😭 i don't get it woonggi is one of the most popular members and they fit the last badass concepts just fine bc they have multiple side: they can be badass, they can be cute bc they are pro idols ! To me that doesn't make sense from a business stand point: it bad for the reputation of the group, disappointing for the fans, bad for the stability among the members, they get rid of one of the most popular members.. in my eyes it's just plain hate for ''feminine'' men from the management ;-;

I feel so sorry for all the members, this all sounds like so much stress.

I’m also hearing people say that wakeone wanted a more mature concept for them, yet they added a 17 year old member to the group, and the 3 members who just left were in their early 20s it’s just not adding up

Basically I’d put the group as TOO (2020-2021) TO1 Season 1 (2021-2022) TO1 Season 2 (2022-Present) (because of the current lineup) Their history reminds me of 9Muses, HelloVenus (the companies fighting), etc However I kinda consider them OT13 ❤️ >3

32:05 What irritates me about this is that people use the most shallow, bullshit reasons to speculate on idols' sexuality. And then, to add insult to injury, they talk about it on social media where the idols, themselves, (or worse; homophobic trolls) can see it. I am a proud, card carrying member of the LGBT collective, but I would be insulted beyond belief if someone thought so because I liked girl groups and was partial to cute concepts. I don't think there's anything wrong with thinking idols might not be straight (I've always found it amusing that it's ~assuming~ an idol's sexuality when someone says as much but people talk about idols as if they're straight all the time; wouldn't that also count as ~assuming~ their sexuality?!) but if that shit is why, pls do me (and every other LGBT fan) a favor and delete your account.

They really fucked up with letting the four members go. Let's be honest Chihoon: a genius producer, song writer, composer, main rapper. He doesn't lack anything,like even his dance is good enough, he's obviously very handsome. Jerome: they could've hit the jackpot with that boy, very tall with a perfect face, the most handsome member (with j.you) he could be an actor and that would blow TO1s popularity (like ASTRO with Eunwoo), not to talk about his singing & dancing Woonggi: the icon, BEST DANCER, BEST VOCALIST, one of the most famous and loved memebers, another one who can give so much popularity to the grp. Minsu: Voice, visual, dancer, cuteness, he doesn't lack in anything as well. I don't hate the new members,tbh I don't even know them yet, congratulations to them for debuting too ofc. But wake one really ruined it all. I really hope TO1 to he successful after all the changes they've been thro, I really don't want them to disband. And I hope the other 4 memebrs debut soon in another grp

These boys have been on a roller coaster ever since their debut. I feel so bad for them, they had so much potential if only the right people handled them, they could have thrived. They lost all of their rights to all of their older songs, was in between a merger and company conflict. NCH was the only company that actually cared for them.

OH MY GOD I SCREAMED SEEING THIS POP UP It's so weird seeing somebody talk about events that I had to live through as a Together since debut. The term "internal policy changes" still triggers my fight or flight response. The day that everything changed from TOO era to TO1 was so scary; I remember checked their socials before 11am in my timezone and everything seemed fine and then soon boom... I got a bunch of notifications talking about TO1 this and TO1 that it felt so scary and unreal. Some clarifications from my perspective as a long-time Gether: - It's important to note that Woonggi's sudden hiatus was likely suddenly caused by the flood of hateful (and largely homophobic) comments he was receiving at the time. He posted a long thread of photos on Christmas and in one of the photosets he's on some stairs and the second photo was what _really_ set some people off. You'll know what I mean when you see it. The thread is still up btw. - Chihoon's departure was super sudden and the only theory I have was that he mentioned Woonggi once during a vlive while the boys were playing a game and the room got pretty silent. I coulda sworn that I saw Jaeyun looking behind the camera at somebody. After that vlive Chihoon fell totally silent on all socials for an entire month, including Bubble, which he was one of the most active members on. - WakeOne made a birthday post for Woonggi and not one for Chihoon despite their birthdays being only days apart (Woonggi on April 23rd vs Chihoon on April 27th) which was the biggest sign that Chihoon wasn't coming back at that point. - "to1 gay" arose as a sorta argument Gethers are having amongst ourselves, especially due to one Twitter user's comments, specifically something about a "boyfriend material" image or whatever (I didn't read the thread entirely because I skip over stuff like this and just wanna live on peacefully but I'm sure if you search for it it'll come up). Some LGBT+ Gethers argue that gay should not be treated as an insult and something negative to be associated with and while I personally agree with that I also agree that we literally cannot assume anything about anyone's sexualities or gender identities and that is that. TO1 gay and especially the Woonggi gay agenda have been going on for a while now and is something that we just have to live with. (More of a side note here) People took to the new members surprisingly well, actually; most surprising to me is the amount of people already biasing Yeojeong. I personally am not that comfortable with the idea of the new members yet but hopefully with the coming era that changes; I'm not unwilling to love them and learn about them more. But I still really don't get how people can bias him so comfortably when we barely just learnt that his surname is "Jeon" 🫠 Btw when WakeOne says a "more mature" concept i don't think it means mature as in "adult" but just a phrase as to say they've gone through even more "growth" as a group. And finally, most importantly, PLEASE support their comeback on the 28th!!! We've been through so much, the least you can do is check it out 🫶🏾 Thank yaaaaa~~

Stanned TO1 since debut with the name of TOO, felts I could not Stan anymore because my bias was left for unknown reason. I can't believe their journey went through how bad like this. I didn't know why W1 removed the three feminine members were they actually fits the concept TO1. And also I didn't know what happened to Chihoon being left. Yet, I'm still supporting this group until the end

as someone who stanned them during rtk and been with them for some time, i just knew one of these days you would cover them esp concerning the history and changeups they had. its really gotten to the point now where i honestly feel so disconnected with the group esp with this latest changup because i really liked minsu and although i still have biases in the group, it just doesnt feel the same to me anymore. maybe i might still be a together but i honestly wont be surprised if i unstan soon. i'll always support all the members including the new ones and keep following them but idk if i have it in me to keep going through stuff like this and keep being a dedicated together

I hope the company didn't kick them out of the group just so they could go with a more "mature" concept and the ones who "left" didn't fit that, when TOO literally debuted with a "mature" and "masculine" ahh concept, It.does.not.make.sense.

Count 1! 2! Was probably the best concept they had for a comeback yet because it fit perfectly best for their feminine members especially Woongi!! Such a shame Wake One threw them out 🤦‍♀️ (just to “change their group image”) Wake One really needs to wake up at this point I’m sick and tired of how they’ve treated their artists.

I can tell u I also thought Chihoon was forced to leave after “mentioning Woongi” during a Vlive. Therefore he was probably forced to leave the company beside the other reason and look unlike the other members leaving he left he didn’t have a written farewell letter!! Nooo but like actually I was watching Edward Avillas video with TO1 to make sure I was thinking of the correct members and the first thing that truck me while looking at the members that left... all of them were the more feminine/cute members. They will have a hard time getting fans... now that Woongi is gone. Like I'm not even a boy group stan and I still adored him

Jaeyun is my ult ult bias and Jerome and Minsu were my bias wreckers so I was so torn on whether I should keep supporting them but I decided that I would be open minded. I love Jaeyun and the other members TOO much to leave them. It’s hard to support them when I don’t want to support such a horrible company 😭

I feel extremely bad for them they're still TO1 but with the new members it feels like a 3rd debut for them I don't stand TO1 and the fandom doesn't seem like the type to harass people (I hope not) so I hope the new members don't get hate for something they had no say or control over. I hope after this comeback things start to become a lot more stable for them because at this rate I don't know how much TO1 can take before the company says screw it and disbands them.

when i discovered TOO through rtk they immediately captured my heart, i was so amazed by all their talent and personalities, each member was so unique and could easily be an ace if they were in seperates groups,, they had so much potencial and i was looking foward to their future so much i don't know if with all these changes TO1 will feel the same to me, it's sad to say but i had such a big attachment to all the 10 members that this just doesn't feel like TOO/TO1 anymore i'll support the best i can the rest of the members but yeah i just feel so heartbroken with everything, they had everything to succeed if it wasn't for that company

When they announced new members I was shocked because Daigo and Renta were 2 faves from produce 101 Japan season 2 and I was expecting them to debut in Jpop groups not a Kpop group that was already established. Plus the very controversial way of them going into TO1 after 4 members leaving that kinda feels like a black cloud was put over them because it’s too soon. I don’t know what the future will be like for this group but I just can’t feel optimistic about it right now. I want them ALL to succeed, this whole mess hurts my heart.

the comeback was fine and i liked the album, but i feel like i cant really 'stan' this group anymore and would probably consider myself a casual fan now. they've been ot10 for almost 3 years since world klass, and now suddenly the group dynamics are are different, and even though this is their most commercially successful comeback, it still feels kinda lackluster? other than the 4 members leaving, something feels empty and different.

i met this group yesterday and i did not even imagine all the shit and mistreatment and shit that they went through. now i just want to stay by their side and save them from their company, no joking. thank you so much for all the info, it is really helpful. i hope things became more stable now. sorry if i made a mistake, english its not my first language and sometimes i mess up.

Oh it's very odd for a very freshly debuted group to go on RTK indeed! It happened again this year with Kep1er on Queendom, but at least Kep1er had a tiny bit more time in the industry than TOO (and since both programs were from MNET it makes more sense too)

Happy 1 year to this vid 🥺❤️ unfortunately it’s only a matter of time TO1 will disband it could be any day now but I have a feeling it’ll be sometime this year. I’m glad the former members were finally able to leave WakeOne though.

I've wanted to stan TO1 for so long,but every time they do something that makes me wanna stan them it is followed by bad news. I will support them in this comeback,but I genuinely don't want them in that company. It's the same thing for Kep1er. I know that they are better than in a nugu company, but at the same time it's pretty obvious shitty things are happening behind curtains.

I got into the CJ E&M rabbit hole on Wikipedia, and they are MASSIVE. When you said "one of the biggest entertainment companies in Korea, I wasn't expecting they are "we own Mnet and TVN" big, or that they own production companies that make some of the most popular dramas ever. They are quite literally EVERYWHERE.

TO1 was already great. The line up was already great and perfect. T.T

What makes me so upset is then they were formed under a survival show. People voted for each individual member, so what right do they have adding people WHO ARENT EVEN FROM THE SAME SHOW? This just destroys the purpose of survival shows in the first place. Even if you take out members, it's not necessary to add new ones. Something else I noticed too is that they tended to make the songs they cover more masculine (the i cant stop me cover is a great example). It makes me wonder how masculine theyre trying to make this group look. Taking out one of your most popular members? Yeah, great way to make money.

Since their last cb re:alize all we’ve been given is the update about the four members leaving the group. Then f*ck all leading up their next cb. It literally came out of NOWHERE and we were not informed about the three new members joining the group beforehand. As a Minsu stan, I am sad that he left the group. Idk what really is happening behind the camera but they just went to Kcon a few months ago and after a month they released a statement that Minsu, Woonggi and Jerome will leave the group.

i started stanning TOO(TO1 now)2 months after their first comeback running toogether. from the very beginning i clicked with the whole group, the b sides were amazing and had a variety of talent where everyone brought something to the table. i loved how they were doing something along the lines of a “cute/fresh” concept for count 1,2 which really caught my eye because you don’t see a lot of boy groups do anymore. a lot of boy groups debuting have the same tired “boy crush” concepts that we’ve seen over and over again and when everyone is doing the same thing it really loses its effect. i believe to1 fitted a cute concept and a fresh and an in between concept as well. it’s so hard to believe that wake one didn’t see how the sales dropped as soon as they went back to a boring over used concept. moving on to the departure of chihoon, woongi, jerome, and minsu was so off putting, especially for “toowice”. in my eyes woongi was the face of the group. even people from my tl who weren’t gethers knew who he was because he was always going viral for being a mood maker. he was constantly bringing exposure and peaking interests of others. i believe “toowice” were forcibly removed because they didn’t fit the stereotypical “mature” concept. now, with all of chan’s cultural appropriation scandals it’s only brought negative light to to1. so if to1 were doomed they’re in even worse spot now. as much i loved to1 as whole before the 3 new members it just will never be the same for me, it just seems like such a generic kpop group now. as for now, i will patiently wait for minsu’s re-debut as he is my bias, but i still wish to1 the best even though i won’t be tuning in anymore.

I hate that this might be needed, but I wonder if you might consider a future video on Thai kpop soloist Natty? 3 days ago, without any explanation, it was quietly announced she signed to S2 Entertainment, though she was signed to SWING Entertainment for 2 years but hadn't had any activities since November 2020 and her 2nd single "Teddy Bear" (many of us thought the break had to do with C()V!D though). She had announced her fandom name and said on her RU-vid channel that she was going to be doing a lot more social media but that was basically her last video and we have heard nothing from anywhere her for over 18 months :/ She was on SIXTEEN (the show that made TWICE) and beat Momo but JYP decided she was too young (she was 14? at the time) and on Idol School (and likely got rigged out, as she was ranked #1 for several weeks and then suddenly stopped getting screen time and her ranking plummeted). We're very confused and worried :/

They just lost one of their new members. Renta left on Sept.22,2023. His departure was unusual as well. I don't believe that I have ever seen such constant member chaos in a group before. Management needs to get it together and either handle this group properly or dissolve all contracts and let them go. They are sitting on a gold mine of talent and are letting them rot for inactivity. Sad.

I have an interesting perspective on the matter! I've never really known too much of TO1 but I do follow the Japan side of things in the industry and I was (worried admittedly) but excited to see Renta and Daigo pop up after disappearing to Korea after PD101 JapanS2. They're both sweethearts and hardworking and I look forward to getting into TO1 or at least checking them out now. It sounds weird, but I think it'll be good exposure for the group into the Japanese market and it'll bring more attention and fans to TO1 in wake of all the changes that have occurred. While I can't bring back old members, I offer a sliver of optimism in that the change might be a "blank canvas, fresh paint" kind of thing and myself as a new fan to get to know these talented guys and their antics! Stay strong for the members still left, and try to welcome the new guys with warm hearts-- it won't fix things but it might make the bandaid prettier while the wound heals. TO1, fighting!

Most boy bands (whether Korean or not) aren’t seen as masculine to the GP in general, so it’s interesting that they’re out here removing the most feminine members when that’s not really a problem for their target fanbase. Seems like a combo of a vocal minority + all the usual issues that arise when a company is trying to engineer success vs. having it happen organically

I don't think they kicked out those three members because of their looks or personality but because they may have disagreed with the new changes. For example, Woongi was a very extroverted spokesman and maybe the other members were too. The group already had a hard time trying to made it to the final lineup later on losing its original name and rights then going into hiatus and now having to "change" concept once again?

Omg what ?? I've been so away from kpop, they're one of the groups that to me produces some of the best songs ever, like you have to listen to their albums I love them so much I used to watch all their contents from debut and I didn't know all these were happening

I had the same feeling about the three leaving the group as what you mentioned. They are more feminine... but in TO1s performances, they still always nailed the concepts... even if those were more masculine and tough! I am sad that the three are no longer part of TO1. But may I ask, what is wrong about the assumption that they are probably gay? I am really curious because I don't understand why this is rude. I fell in love with them as soon as they debuted as TOO, Chihoon was my bias and him leaving made me lose interest in the group honestly, I still follow their content and progress but learning about Jerome, Woonggi and Minsu's leaving it just made it so hard :( I don't hate the new members but i'm really upset about it, I don't like how they are just replacing the others

i never followed them paticularly closely and i only have like one mutual who does but from what i've seen woonggi was definitely a moneymaker. from a business standpoint at least it seems ridiculous to kick him out because if you have nugu bg mutuals you've definitely heard of woonggi! as much as daigo and renta can help bring them into the japanese market, i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of togethers start feeling disconnected from to1 as a whole and drop off them. obviously i wish the best for all of them but removing three of the most popular members is never ideal.

28:15 IOI wasn't under Studio Blu when they were active (2016-2017), they were under YMC Entertainment which wasn't related to CJ&EM, Studio Blu was gonna manage IOI's 2019 comeback reunion but that was cancelled thanks to the Produce Vote rigging scandal so the members probably never got far enough like to sign with them. Wanna One during their first year was also managed by YMC before transferring to Swing.

The one about the 3 "femenine" members seems a strong reason also because woongi was being cyberbullied for it and he was put in a hiatus once

I’ve been a Jerome bias since day 1 and just found out about the new lineup and our ICONIC trio leaving. Honestly I hope that those three debut together but I know the Jerome hinted at becoming a solo artist which I think would be really good for him. i just want the guys to leave cj and make a proper statement towards why did woonggi, sungmin and minsu left, bc i dont believe the "more mature image" thing. sungmin was one of the main visuals and brought attention, woonggi did so too bc of his amazing personality and most of the fandom felt connected towards minsu's shyness. plus, the group in general felt like they had a geniune and pure friendship and connection between the 10 (9 at the time) of them. i understand chihoon leaving bc he never even wanted to be a full on idol, and i love the music he's been uploading lately on souncloud (as ian). my ult bias is kyungho and I'm glad he didn't leave, but i just don't feel happy at all even with the cb they'll be having this week. i just hope they're doing well, it must be horrible going through all of that in just 2 years

TO1 had me following them after I heard their cover Someday by OneRepublic and since then I have loved their music and personalities and right not they are getting hit left and right with setbacks and I hope they aren’t to stressed because this is a lot. One thing I really hate is it seems stone entertainment has everything to treat the idols they had/have well and take them far and it just seems they are choosing not to like they really should have let the other company help with the boys because stone is failing them. And yes some of the boys were feminine however they did well when they had a masculine concept so if they were kicked for that reason that’s another failure on stone.

i can't believe they got rid of half of the members. to1 was incredibly perfect together, their chemistry was unmatched, and they were all comfortable with each other. with enough promotion the og lineup would've blown up soon enough. i hate wakeone.

This is what I will never understand…and that’s how homophobes and/or people with toxic masculinity are SO obsessed with other peoples sexual preference and mannerisms. As a gay guy myself, I don’t focus on members like those three and their sexuality. I just love and focus on how they’re very expressive and talented. It’s like being feminine in society has been so demonized when there are literal straight men out there that are comfortable in their sexuality, that are very feminine and aren’t afraid to express themselves… it doesn’t matter what they are! Their femininity and joyful selves are what make them and the group shine!
