The Jeep you will be using was/is Matt's wife jeep. Matt loaned it to a family friend who rolled it on to the roof. Matt didn't sue or anything. Rather he cut the roof off and placed in a roll cage. It should be trail ready for the trail used in the competition. It is more stock compared to his 3 other recovery vehicles. which makes it easier for a beginner to drive. Good luck and I am looking forward to seeing everyone compete.

I understand your position and glad you let Matt know your concerns. The event is a volunteer competion. Sounds like Matt made is possible for you to participate by offering you the use of his equipment. The competition has a twist to it--an experienced working with a non-experienced. I don't know the route being used or how a non-experienced was selected. I hope you enjoy the games and all goes well.

PREFERENCE there is know way I would put a stranger in my race car or [rock crawler] no even some of my closes friends, these vehicle take special talent to operate. With that in mind I am not even interested in paying to watch a bunch of inexperienced people fumble around. Just a though, just not for me.

I totally understand you. I think it is a wise decision.

The Legal Eagle may not be held liable, you may not be held liable. However, that does not stop someone from trying to hold you liable. When it comes to litigation lawyers for plaintiffs will go where the money is. But why take a chance getting stuck in the middle of that. Who is organizing and managing the event. Based on the risks Matt is willing to take with his family and staff I hope it is not him. And when you watch last year's event a disaster is inevitable. I myself would not get close to any of his vehicles.

I’m not happy that Matt changed it from the Wrecker games to the off road games. 2 Major players from last year bailed due to liability issues. So far Rory is the only one who hasn’t built a rig specifically for the RU-vid participant. Rory did have to modify the seat for the participant. All others are building rigs as they (the spotters) have stated that their not comfortable with inexperienced people driving there rigs. I saw a video from Colt( used to be with Beepin Jeep) is now backup in case someone pulls out. Yes you should cancel your participation. Send a message that there is too much liability!

I like Matt, but I feel he’s losing touch with this like the $300+ tool kit he pitched. Maybe he’ll put the banana and Morrvair in the competition with an unskilled RU-vidr too. I’ll respect that, but he can also afford to fix them if they get wrecked. Most of you probably can’t or can’t afford the loss of time since y’all do RU-vid full time. Even car RU-vidrs like Donut Media struggle to transition to the off-road space. What I mean with that is they had a built Tacoma and struggled to do a pretty mild trail like Colorado’s Poughkeepsie Gulch. Legal Eagle was probably joking, but if I heard a guy talking like before wheeling my Jeep, I’d say no way. Still, I’ll hold out on judgement till I see the games… it’s an absolutely awesome concept tho!
