I'm an uncircumcised American man so I'm one of the few of my friends to not undergo this procedure at an extremely young age. I understand why it's hard to disagree with something your parents chose for you effectively at birth, but I'm happy to see a considerable portion of my peers (early 20s) understand this practice has never made any practical sense since it was reintroduced in America. I would never cut off any other body part to fit in!
I am a Catholic baby boomer who came of age in the Rustbelt. I was deeply ashamed of my nonconforming penis, so much so that I remained a virgin until I was 37, and have been intimate with only one woman, my spouse of 30 years. I discovered why my penis did not look like those of other boys when I stumbled on the entry Circumcision in an adult encycolpedia; I was 13 at the time. I was too embarrassed to ask my doctor, and he volunteered nothing. My mother said nothing until I was 19, and did not really open up until after my father died. My peers were very free in their bawdy boy talk, but the foreskin and its removal went unmentioned. America was a country where the foreskin was ruthlessly hunted down and exterminated, but nobody talked about that fact. Medical books written for families devoted 2-3 paragraphs to the topic, paragraphs rife with misinfomation.
I think you're a little ignorant if you think that people circumcise their kids just so that they can "fit in." And fit into what? Tons of people are not circumcised. Also, is it really cutting of a body part? It's a piece of skin, not so much a body part. When you get your ears pierced, or scrape of a good portion of skin on your arm, you do say that you lost a body part.
I'm a 25 year old Brit and I've had zero issues with mine. The fact that people still willingly get it done even tho it's 99% done for cosmetic reasons is insane.
When will this barbaric, unlawful procedure be finally prohibited?!!!! Sickening!!!!! Poor boys! When are we gonna stand up for these innocent baby boys, tortured and abused by their own parents?!!!!!!!
The reaction to FGM in the West is one of horror, and rightly so: it’s a barbaric practice. I view male circumcision in the same way, it’s not right. Thankyou so much for highlighting a cruel practice that has become culturally acceptable.
The forceful separation of the foreskin from the glans, that alone is damaging nerves and causing scar tissue. When the circumcised infant comes home the penis looks sooo bad:so raw and swollen.;and then when urine and feces comes in contact to the raw wound ;it is irritating. All of this for what ? no valid reason. and the penis is permanently altered and damaged for life.Really gross procedure, effects, and outcome.
Valid medical reasons for circumcisions must be extremely rare. I live in New Zealand where baby boys don't get routinely circumcised and I've never heard of anyone having a valid medical reason to be circumcised.
I come from Quebec, Canada. Our rate is 13%. Our men are perfectly healthy and happy. They say circumcision protects from stds, yet usa has the highest rate of stds in developed countries Boys deserve the right to chose, just like we do. I hate when parents say. "I'll do whatever I want, it's my kid"... That's talking like a slave owner
My son was born in Italy and there (as well as other European countries) you only curcumcise Jewish and Muslim babies (religion) or if it is medically needed. The doctor who delivered my son said that it is medically needed in less than 1-2% of babies. My son's therapist here in the USA used to be a pediatric RN and said the babies feel a lot of pain. Many of them would even tilt their heads back and "pass out". She said they were always done in the back away from the parents. She said if their fathers could see what really happened and the pain their sons really went through, there would be a lot less circumcisions.
In the circle of my acquaintances, 2 fathers and one mother have told me that they witnessed the circumcisions of one or more of their own sons. None of these parents admitted to any regrets or dismay. These 3 circumcisions were performed last century, so that anesthesia was out of the question. These parents were so strongly pro-circ that they were able to brush aside the fact that their sons screamed and screamed. During the second half of last century, American parents were firmly convinced that the male foreskin is seriously unsanitary, and sets up an American male for ridicule in the locker room (before he graduates from high school) and a lifetime of rejection in the bedroom.
I know two American fathers, and one American mother, who witnessed the circumcision of at least one of their sons, and claimed not to be bothered in the least. These RICs were performed last century; hence no anesthesia. That's how brainwashed many American parents are. "If doctors offer to do it, it must be OK. Besides, growing up with a Dick That Looks Weird must be very traumatic."
Me too. More proud to be living in New Zealand where baby boys don't get routinely circumcised. I've never heard of anyone having problems with their foreskins and I'm proud of that too.
It is so nice to hear this woman speak against sexual mutilation of infants. Many females are not concerned about this practice. I'm sure they would care about sexual mutilation of baby girls as is done in some cultures.
I am European and men are intact here. It is extremely rare to see someone that decides as an adult to have that done. Intact is the norm so no group pressure as in the USA. Christians in Europe, Latin America and most other places don't even consider to circumcise. American Christians are not aware of the fact that their christian ancestors in the USA didn't circumcise either. They started doing it at a time when it was introduced to deter masturbation. They often say "It's in the bible" to justify it which makes no sense at all. Thanks for this video.
There are so many reasons to go against non-medically needed routine infant circumcision:it is so unethical and barbaric. and non of the pro circumcision are valid reasons to do it.
If my wife decides she wants to circumcise our baby boy I would literally break up with her. Its very sickening to make a baby boy go through pain without consent.
Have you shown her this video? Is she still considering it? I feel like a lot of women understand the "The clitoris has 8,000 nerve endings. The foreskin has over double that at 20,000" argument.
@@alimariehere Right now my girl and I are not married yet. We haven't touched the topic yet. So I knew about circumcision when I was working as a server for this Jewish event where a baby boy was going to get circumcision. I had to close my eyes while watching that crap. They said it was for religious reasons but I call bs .
I mean.... The Jewish faith does deem it necessary for salvation, so yes- it is a religious custom. I don't think I could watch either, but their intentions are truly pure!
@@alimariehere Thats true. Im not against the Jewish community. The Jewish culture has good values, we can learn alot from them. Im just against circumcision.
Thank you for speaking out! It doesn't stop to amaze me that Americans believe that Christians should circumcise because "it's in the Bible". Most of the rest of the world universally understands that circumcision is not Christian and that it's one of the things that sets them apart from Muslims and Jews.
Therefore it strictly orders all who glory in the name of Christian, not to practise circumcision either before or after baptism, since whether or not they place their hope in it, it cannot possibly be observed without loss of eternal salvation. Pope Eugene IV
As a Cristian myself (and a transwoman) , I honestly believe that my brain was altered during my circumcision. I have adult ADHD and there have been some studies that show that mutilating your child could be potentially at a higher risk for ADHD. (I also think that me being trans has a lot to so with my mutilation as well as my suicidal thoughts about it ) If Christians read their bible more deeply. they know that Paul (was saying that Circumcision doesnt matter because the people were believing that being circd would gain favor with God = instant access to Gods family and heaven) which Paul preached against Gal 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision matters. What matters is faith that is active through love. Mutilating your Child causes mental anguish to some..I am one of them 😭😭😭
It is so unethical. I am so glad I was born uncircumcised and that my parents didn’t take away my foreskin without my consent. Yes circumcision reduces risks of STDs but why not just have sex with someone that doesn’t have STDs? It reduces it to 0%
1920-50, 35% of UK boys were circumcised in infancy. In some London maternity wards, the rate was much higher. On the other hand the rate was much lower in rural areas, among the sons of factory workers, and in Wales and Scotland.
@Freddie forever Does the NHS ever cover the cost of nontherapeutic circumcision? How many of circumcised British boys are of Muslim or African ancestry?
Thank you for speaking out Ali-Marie. Rational people are against taking a knife to the genitals of children. (Superstitious people have difficulty being rational sometimes.)
Honestly, I'm no gonna lie. As a circumcised male I've always felt extremely violated. mostly because I believe it's an assault on a Man's inherent dignity given he is denied a say on a matter involving only him. I also don't believe it appropriate that a women would have a say in something so exclusive to the male gender. This is because it creates a deep conflict of interest. I don't understand why Mankind is so boldly apathetic on this silent majority issue. Thanks for the video.
I think excluding genders based on gender isn’t entirely fair. It’s like the “no uterus no opinion” argument about abortion. We can look at science and make reasonable, logical conclusions about the opposite gender’s body. Men can be just as ignorant as women in regard to circumcision... In fact, if my husband was the one making the decision (prior to me forcing him to watch an infant being circumcised), he was 100% pushing for it to be done. So, really, it could’ve been your dad who had the final say, and your mom should’ve protected you. I don’t think it’s fair to say women shouldn’t have a say just because they don’t have a penis.
In my experience, American women are quicker to appreciate that male circumcision is a violation, than circumcised American men are. While women are not penis owners, they are END USERS of penises, and as such are much better situated to discover the drawbacks of circumcision. The typical straight male has handled or examined closely only one penis lifelong: his own. Not much can be learned from a single data point...
I feel horribly violated. It is violent rape with permanent disfigurement and sexual disability, pure and simple. Our society (US) makes me physically sick to my stomach.
I was circumcised by an accucolophilliac lady doctor, i was in kindergarten, and will never forget her smirk , the scent of the disenfectant and the color of the clinic
I regrew my foreskin after being body shamed by my classmates (99% of them intact) at my brutally tough all-boys' grammar school that I attended in the 1970s. Best thing I ever did.
I agree so much with this!! The other reason they use to do it throughout history is because cleanliness wasn't possible like it is now but as long as you teach your son to clean himself properly, there shouldn't be issues with that. I believe that it should be considered genital mutilation just like they do with the cultures that remove a girl's clitoris and or labia. There have been laws passed in some places to prevent that from happening but yet we still allow baby boys to be mutilated. My husband hates that he was circumcised because of issues that it caused and his are very minor compared to some. I wish I had never had my son circumcised but I was 19 at the time and nobody was talking about it being an issue but i would have never done again had I had other boys. At the time, I assumed the pediatrician had come to do it and was shocked to find out that my OB who is a doctor who specializes in vaginas had trimmed my son's penile skin.
😳😭 It’s amazing how much our decisions follow us and how regret can set in! Just be gentle with yourself for only knowing what you knew then & that you were doing the best you could 💞 God honors that!
I totally agree with yoyr view. I was not circumcised, and never had any type of problems. Once i hit puberty my forskin is was gone. I guess because the penis gets larger. This is something that never gets talked about, specially in a Hispanic home. I have a 15 yr old child, didnt circumcised him either. Unfortunately he did get an infection at the age of 4, i think. All that needed to be done is role down is skin and clean it, thats it. Never had a problem after that. For people that say babies dont feel anything, you must be out of your mind. Poor babies do feel. I could not understand why you would want your baby to feel that type of pain. Thank God that pact with God was substituted with Baptism.
Nicely done pretty lady! Your reasons for opposing male genital mutilation (MGM) are fantastic. However, there are two primary reasons why many people are saying no to male genital mutilation: 1. People that this issue is about bodily autonomy, meaning my body, my choice, or in the case of boy/man it is his body, his choice. Therefore, cutting off the genitals of a baby boy violates his right to bodily autonomy/integrity. 2. The second reason why people saying no to MGM is because it is not being done as a last resort surgery. When other body parts have a problem, surgery is only done as a last resort. However, with the foreskin, the surgery is done before any problems arise. Also, since you say you absorb information well. Here is some information that may help you in the future: 1. You mention in this video that foreskin retracts at the age 4, this is true, but this isn't always. It can actually take up to late adolescence, for the foreskin to retract in some cases. 2. MGM increases the risk of meatal stenosis, penile skin adhesions (this includes skin bridges and skin tags), buried penis, and Staph/MRSA infections. 3. Due to the flawed HIV studies, foreskin amputation has given some men an excuse to not use condoms or protection during sexual activities. 4. The pain from foreskin amputation can alter the infant boy's brain. Foreskin amputation is associated with a higher risk of alexithymia in circumcised men. 5. The origins of when MGM begun is unknown. However, it has been that MGM was a ritual that Ancient Egyptians used on slaves to confirm the status of slaves to the public. Later, MGM became popular in English-speaking nations (Anglosphere) as a way to undermine masturbation.
1. A landmark Danish study published in 1968, concluded that the average age of first complete retraction was 10.4 years. 2. Last century, meatal stenosis was admitted as a common complication of routine infant circumcision. This century, that fact is no longer mentioned. Somebody should mail a questionnaire about this to each of the 300 odd pediatric urologists in the USA. 3. I believe that Circumcised Penis + Condom = Boring Sex for him, and perhaps for her too as well. If this is correct, circumcision discourages condom use. This could explain why the USA, despite its 80% incidence of circumcision among adults, has the highest STD (including HIV) rates of any first world country. Yes, circumcision could be blantantly counterproductive in the struggle against HIV. 4. RIC without anesthesia is intensely painful (Anand & Hickey 1997). It is not yet to possible to study scientifically the complications arising from this pain. 5. Our Victorian ancestors believed that (a) masturbation was a grave sin; (b) masturbation was physically and psychologically damaging; (c) that circumcision discouraged masturbation; and (d) circumcised men were less likely to fornicate, adulterate, and to commit sexual assault. After 1920, these beliefs faded. This fading may have contributed to the disappearance of RIC in the UK (1950s) and New Zealand (1960-85), and its decline in Australia (10%) and Canada (30%). But the USA RIC rate did not start declining until the 1980s. Even now, about 50% of newborn boys still undergo RIC, and an unknown %age of boys are circumcised after the neonatal period in pediatricians' offices.
I am mother to 6 children, 3 of whom are boys. They were all left intact at birth and two of them still are. Unfortunately, my oldest son required a circumcision for (true) medical reasons when he was 6. We explained to him in detail what was going to happen and why, and he received adequate anesthesia and pain medication afterward, which is something newborns don’t receive. He is totally fine now and his medical issue was resolved. I was in nursing school for a time before I was married and had to witness a circumcision. I decided then and there that I would never do that to a son of mine (although my husband took some convincing). It was traumatizing for me. I can only imagine how awful it was for that poor baby. And hey, what better to put in a diaper full of poo and pee than an open wound? Great idea. 🙄 Thank you for this video. I just found your channel and have subbed. 😁
I had a friend who said something incredibly similar about seeing one in training & was totally traumatized :( Another friend, too, was circumcised for *true* medical reasons at 5 years old. Being able to explain everything and have them at a level of understanding is so important, I think. Your point of the dirty diapers too 🥴👌🏼💯
Phimosis causes recurring infections. It would be like if a girl had a narrow urethra or something and pee was always getting stuck there. She’d have to have surgery to fix the issue.
Thank you youre amazing most people just laugh and like your husband cannot bring themselves to watch the videos because they don't wanna know what happened to them.
Dutch reformed Church you mean, right? Niet velen kennen de bedoeling buiten NL. Cuz their catholic counterparts and also the atheists are also "unaltered"(we knew they wouldnt care to be interested to become ;)
I agree with you! I've seen many guys that have had damage to their penis from being circumcised. This includes skin bridging, adhesions, part of the glans being cut off, deep scars around the shaft of the penis and curvature of the penis.
👏🏻👏🏻 great video! I'm not personally religious, so I can't speak on that aspect, but the medical side, is 💯 facts! I've shared this a bunch of places. ❤
Thank you so much! The medical aspect really gets me... Elsewhere in comments I even said that I don’t know if I could’ve been Jewish with the sacrificing animals & required circumcision. Idk if I could do it.
@@alimariehere Brit shalom is a naming ceremony for newborn Jewish boys that does not involve circumcision. More people are doing it this way, Alicia Silverstone is one! That could be another video idea for ya! 😉😂 keep up the good work!
Boys deserve their own religious freedom. The parent does not matter. I don't care about what my family believes. I am an individual, but USA sees minors as the property of the parent. Disgusting. Well, not for girls, they're protected.
For your own knowledge as well, Ali-Marie, the Traditional Circumcision of Judaism (Brit Milah) was totally different to modern Jewish Circumcision (i.e. less tissue is removed). Even then, Modern Medical Circumcision is more aggressive again.
ouchhhhh. Unfortunately i was circumcised at birth. My parents didn't know, and i didn't know it wasn't necessary. Ahhhhhh pain. Thanks for the video tho God bless lol
Physical circumcision was the sign of Abrahamic covenant (Gen 17:9-14) and the rite of initiation into the family of Israel (Lev 12:3). However, the Torah itself teaches that circumcision of the body points to a deeper need to circumcise the heart by consecrating it to God and cutting away its rebellious inclinations )(Lev 26:41; Deut 10:16). God circumcises the hearts of believers in Baptism (Col 2:11-12), just as he promised Moses he would do in the time of restoration (Deut 30:6). As a result, this spiritual procedure makes the literal procedure unnecessary and outdated in the new economy of grace (1 Cor 7:19; Gal 6:15; Phil 3:3).
@Summer Your comment here is the best scripturally based argument against the circumcision of Christians I have EVER encountered. It is also quite concise. I strongly disagree with Messianic Christians (who usually feel compelled to adopt brit milah) and Messianic Jews (who feel compelled to retain brit milah). You have given me the scriptural basis to oppose both practices.
@@lylecosmopolite I think I acquired and compiled most of this information from the Catechism and the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible New Testament Second Catholic Edition RSV =)

Circumcision is a personal choice if you are a victim of it that id a laws suite worth at least ten million dollars because it's humiliating and o ones choice but your own it is akin to parents choosing your religion it's not their choice and if you do sue over it you would be a hero for setting a precidentfor making it illegal to do that to a child
4:57 furthermore it's not true. It's the opposite. If the foreskin is missing, infections are much more likely to occur, because the foreskin is protection. The foreskins aren't just sold to medical research. E.g. they are also sold to manufacturers of face cream, which [*can be considered] cannibalism.
@@alimariehere There are different opinions about it. It's used for non medical purposes and it's another humans body, why should it matter if consumed or otherwise used?
I'm from the UK and am intact therefore I now how sensitive the foreskin and frenulum can be. This vile practice is what one expects from a third-world country. It is barbaric.
You are an amazing woman and have really done the research. The only thing that I can correct you on is it sounds like you were watching a Muslim circumcision, most American hospitals use what is called the gomco clamp to perform a circumcision. With everything else though I feel you were spot on. Thank you so much for trying to get the word out that circumcision is absolutely unnecessary whether it be for medical reasons or religious reasons.
@@alimariehere Thank you so much for your positive responses to my comments.👍👌So sorry I didn't write back to you sooner. Your video is great. Easy to understand. Sound quality was excellent. Are you aware that most foreskin problems in America, including urinary tract infections like you mentioned, are caused by people forcefully pulling back the foreskin on babies and young boys who didn't get circumcised. I think it's called premature forced foreskin retraction or PFFR for short. Nobody should ever touch or retract a boy's foreskin except the boy himself. PFFR doesn't seem to happen to boys here in New Zealand which could be the reason why foreskin problems are so unheard of here. If people would just allow foreskins to develop and function on their own, and remain unharmed, the foreskin will naturally clean and sterilize itself inside, like what eyelids naturally do. Unharmed foreskins will also protect the glans penis and the urinary tract, which would naturally reduce the risk of urinary tract infections. www.drmomma.org/2009/12/how-foreskin-protects-against-uti.html Foreskins also have their own immune system too. www.littleimages.org/blog/nurses-corner-babies-wonderfully-made/ Nature seems to have all the answers for the best quality of life here on planet earth, for males and for females.
Also another thing is utis can still happen even if your circumcise. As you get older your prostate can enlarge and can cause urinating problems. And that leads to utis because that bacteria builds up!
Ali-Marie Ingraham i was so self conscious about being uncircumcised im glad that people think loke you i feel my body my choice tho i have never had a complaint about it nor an issue im glad youre here to restore confidence thank you so much for that

@Ali-Marie Ingram good to have free thinkers like you on this so many people uneducated on the matter and its usually circumcised people or people who dont have one to begin with our body our choice i love my foreskin and all my girlfriends loved it too THANKS FOR THE CONFIDENCE BOOST
Autonomy rights take precedence over religious right. Period. If your religion requires you to harm yourself or others to demonstrate your devotion or loyalty to your faith , maybe it's time to rethink and reflect. Circumcision is a barbaric practice, and no one can convince me otherwise.
Thank you, Ali-Marie, for the excellent video. I think that many men are less inclined to voice dissent towards MGM since male sexuality is so often demonized in society. It is so often portrayed as this damaging, superficial animalistic urge that needs to be stifled and controlled. While this may be how it is discussed in the Catholic Church (despite articles such as JPII's Theology of the Body that talks about how human sexuality for both men and women is a beautiful and natural thing, especially when between two pure hearts), I think that it is also certainly part of the cultural narrative to call out "toxic masculinity," which leads to a terrible disdain for male sexuality. I have known of several young American men, both Catholic and otherwise, who are incredibly upset that their parents allowed for a really unreasonable procedure to be done to them. While they would never say it in a more public setting, they have confided in me that they feel sexually maimed as well as the fullness of malehood being denied them, and that they might never be able to enjoy an intimate relationship. I understand that this is not the sentiments for perhaps the majority of American Catholics, but just because the choice was denied them, doesn't mean the choice has to be denied to our sons. Thank you for bringing more awareness to this issue, and I hope more people are also willing to speak out and denounce this terrible procedure.
It's interesting to hear you say all of this as so many are currently pushing for mandated vasectomies... It makes me wonder if those people will sterilize their BABIES so it can be "reversed" later...... I hadn't thought of it that way... And it absolutely TERRIFIES me.
@@alimariehere It terrifies me as well. The interesting, yet grotesque, thing about such discussion surrounding forced vasectomies is that it is still another attempt for a 3rd party to control a perfectly natural and beautiful aspect of maleness. I just wish there was more of a space for male positive discussion and education, meaning, where they can talk about male issues (such as circumcision trauma or male suicide) and aren't seen as the "Patriarchal Oppressors" or other ridiculous buzzwords.
I'm extremely hurt that this happened to me a couple years ago I didn't even know 4skin and circumcision existed I thought every dude had a peen like me 😔
I think perhaps some light should also be shed upon the fact that rabbis circumcise these poor boys with their teeth... That brings things to a whole new level of "NO!"
Ali Marie I understand what you are saying. I was circumcised as a teenager and I personally think it should be up to the guy to decide if he gets circumcised or not .I am for Circumcision but that is my opinion.
Here are some great links to articles and the last link is a video. They are all very informative. I'd like to add that it is NEVER ok to benefit off the back of someone else's misfortune, in this case aborted babies. Christians have NEVER embraced 'cracking a few eggs' for the greater good. If it's not good for everyone then it's not good for anyone. There are many flaws in the argument for vaccines especially ones that use aborted fetal tissue. You will see in the video that up to 78 aborted fetuses are used in the development of ONE vaccine, but they lead you to believe that only one fetus from the 1970s is used in the all vaccines. We need to be educated on this especially now that we have a corrupt misleading pope and so many dirty bishops and priests in these dark days. Just because 'Pope Francis' said the new Covid vaccines are good, does NOT mean they ARE good. He is deliberately leading 'his' people away from what is right and just. I hope these links are helpful! www.lifesitenews.com/news/which-covid-19-vaccines-are-connected-to-abortion www.lifesitenews.com/news/pope-francis-backs-universal-covid-vaccination-for-all Check out time stamp 1 hour 39 minutes into the video to see a short interview between a lawyer and a top vaccine scientist regarding the use of aborted fetal tissue. I will admit this you are the third exposure I’ve had to this in the past year. Naturally I scoffed at first thinking “this is a thing now?!”. I am circumcised and I can see what you are saying. Okay isn't what people should want though. It's hard to imagine anything better or different because it's all you have ever known. Try to imagine what a color you have never seen before would look like, your brain just can't wrap itself around the idea, that's the same with foreskin. The only split we have is that I’m an atheist 😬🤷🏽♂️ I don’t believe in all these crazy religious narratives. I think the replacement for religion will be a sector that houses meditation, yoga, philosophy, counseling...general mindfulness for mind/body wellbeing.
Eh. Yeah. I guess. We’re alive now. I think it’s best to get as much as we can out of life. I personally think all religions are just made up. Some have some good philosophies but science is the upgraded way to gain an accurate understanding of the universe.
The Catholic Church adapts with science.. Creationism is even discouraged & evolution is accepted. I figure it makes me a better person.. Gives me guidance.. I like not having to rely on my own understanding.
I’ve been working on a sci fi and trying to extrapolate into the future. In that I’ve been trying to think about what aspects of religion would remain after everyone becomes an atheist. I have a society with a “mind/body spiritual sector” that houses meditation (solo, 1-1 guided, or group guided), yoga, philosophy, history, counseling and also studies of quantum entanglement for how ppl might have some forms of empathetic communication. Meditation labyrinths are a tool in this futuristic atheist form of religion too. It’s all about being centered and know self and the connection to the larger whole. 🤷🏽♂️
In the USA 1920-50, among white boys born in urban maternity wards, routine infant circumcision was the norm if the parents were Protestant, and uncommon if the parents were Catholic. I will elaborate on this if you insist. I came of age in the heavily Catholic communities of the Rust Belt, and during my entire boyhood, I saw all of 4 intact native born boys. The Church condemned circumcision in 1442. In 1951, the Pope issued a statement saying that Catholic boys could be circumcised if there was a "medical indication". This legitimated the open season on the American Catholic foreskins that had begun soon after WW2. The intimacy of barracks life during WW2 led Catholic soldiers to discover that their Protestant counterparts were mostly circumcised. Military surgeons in that day were often obsessed with circumcising enlisted men. Is it any surprise that Catholic fathers opted to imitate their social betters?
Also, the whole holocaust thing probably didn't help in that department, since opposition to male genital mutilation will always raise cries of antisemitism, regardless of how reasonable the arguments will be.
4:01 abuse were is the government just because their babies and they grow up not remembering what happened in the past doesn't me and you just do that without anesthesia that's abuse that should be stopped why would they do thaaat
They do say about the foreskin obstructing the pee hole were the urine pass through but if that occurs that has to be something very serious and dangerous, for that to occur I would have to consider it's with having to do with the retraction of the foreskin, not sure? I do not know where the heck they come with this of retracting the foreskin on little boys when the foreskin has to stay adhere to the glan, and everybody talks about that the foreskin has to be retracted.
@@alimariehere It doesn't matter it's being from birth or the boy growing up to adolenscent. The foreskin is not suppose to be retracted if it's by anyone for the purpose to clean, it has to be naturally retractable by the boy himself as he is growing up and being aware of going close to his preteens. If anyone retracts or force retracts his foreskin that is going to lead him to serious infections which will then lead to his circumcision.
I agree that circumcision is unnecessary, bu Idon't know if to believe rhat the foreskin is sold. I work in a pediatric hospital, I wonder who can I ask?
There are literally thousands of easily available articles across numerous sources from mainstream media outlets to medical journals describing the use of amputated penile tissue in high end cosmetic products.
Maybe it’s like when a girl has sex the first few times... it’s a little more painful. But it’s not the norm for uncircumcised males to have pain during intercourse. There’s also no ridge, so it’s less abrasive for the woman.
They may be experiencing phimosis. This condition can be addressed with creams and stretching. I also believe many men in cultures (i.e. USA), where preputial amputations (aka "circumcisions") are very common, end up with severely damaged penii because people forcefully retracted them all the time to clean inside (in between the glans and prepuce (you probably think of it as the foreskin). This forceful retraction leads to a lot of scar tissue, thus, keeping the penis from becoming the way nature intended it to.
Why is it that women think they can comment on men's anatomy as it regards to health issues? Women know nothing about the different reasons men should be circumcised. My reason at the age of twelve was an infection risk. Some men can withdraw the skin and some men cannot do this therefore risking infection.
That's like saying a father has no say in whether or not his child is aborted because it's HER body... She's also citing the Bible, so you're shooting the messenger here.
@@alimariehere Go back and read my comments....there was an infection risk. The "no uterus no opinion" argument is off the point. There are men who cannot with withdraw their foreskin and there are some who can. THAT is the point. I am sure a female Urologist would tell you the same thing. Why do women have to reduce every discussion to gender to make their point!?!...HELP!!!
Maybe you should’ve seen a better doctor. Foreskin sometimes doesn’t completely retract until 17+ there is no infection risk anymore so than a circumcised male. -female healthcare professional who knows way more about circumcision, male anatomy, and health issues.
RalphPST It’s an interesting situation! Judaism altogether, no... But say there was a Satanic religion that came about that believed in sacrificing 4 year olds. Would we allow it on the basis of religious freedom? People currently claim abortion should remain legal due to religious freedom, but science has proved it to be scientifically inhumane. If science shows circumcision is inhumane, perhaps that aspect should no longer be included under freedom of religion due to the barbaric nature.
@@alimariehere But Jews get circumcised, and they do it to infants. This was commanded by God. Jesus was circumcised. You might have a case for non-Jews. Which means the Jews would have to do this secretly. I know of no religion that requires people to have an abortion. Judaism is a major religion in the USA. In communion, we give wine to children (Below 21). Should Catholics be forced not to give communion to kids?
We need to keep in mind that the circumcision that ancient Jews practiced is nothing even remotely like what they do today. Today they forcibly rip the foreskin from the head of the penis (it does not start our detached) and then cut it off using a special tool. This is not the same as trimming the foreskin (I.e. the excess past the head of the penis). They would not have had the ability to do the torture we practice today.
@@alimariehere You have quite a passionate view on this topic A-M! ;) And yes, your argument is very intelligently-argued and well-researched. If I ever have a boy, I too would definitely lean against elective circumcision. My one critical point is that I think your comment here on the religious freedom issue is too black-and-white. There is a clear difference between something like child sacrifice, which has been condemned throughout the whole history of the entire Abrahamic tradition, and circumcision, a ritual God explicitly instituted to be at the center of that same tradition for centuries, and which remains central and essential to Judaism (and Islam). The Catechism (#839) places Judaism in its own category distinct from all other non-Christian religions (let alone Satanism!), and stresses that God's covenant with Israel has never been abrogated. And the New Testament never condemns circumcision, or any aspect of the Mosaic Law, *as such* (Paul's argument in Galatians is only that Gentiles must not be compelled to come under the Jewish Law as a condition of justification -- faith in Christ suffices -- and the same Paul actually circumcised Timothy in Acts 16:3). And of course the Church does not condemn it either, even for Gentile Catholics. The scientific/medical facts you refer to are absolutely important, though clearly there are plenty of disputes there too, and in any case there are numerous other factors in moral reasoning besides the science of the day. And so although I agree with most of your video, I actually think we have a religious obligation as Catholics to defend the rights of our Jewish brothers and sisters to live in accordance with their calling.
Before it is a religious practice. It is now a health issue. I’m against infant circumcision. But, I still advocate teenage boys circumcision. To me, it’s a kind of rite of passage to adulthood. I’m surprised infant circumcision is widely done in the US. Just learned it from this video. It’s a shame US pediatric surgeons do it for the money. You can campaign against infant circumcision.
Ali-Marie, I definitely appreciate videos with a strong opinion stated civilly with lots of good reasons. Nevertheless, I would like to offer some points and disagreements. I listened to see if you would argue that circumcision was an intrinsic evil in the natural law. I appreciate that you did not go that far as it would be a contradiction for God to require an action that contradicted the natural law. I totally agree that the early Church as mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles and in Paul’s letters that circumcision is no longer required. I certainly see the value of it like many other Old Testament practices of being a prefigurement of baptism. Just as the Jewish Passover is a prefigurement of the Eucharist, circumcision was that for the Israelites. Do I think it is wrong to prohibit parents from having their sons circumcised? No. That is a violation of religious freedom for both the Jews and Muslims who choose to follow their religion and conscience. I am opposed to any laws like has been suggested in Germany prohibiting the practice. Should Christian parents be encouraged to circumcise for social, political type reasons? No. The New Testament is clear that it is not a requirement in the Church. Should the Church oppose circumcision - what we don’t see in Scripture, and, AFAIK, there is no record of the Church fathers saying that the practice should no longer be done. The doctrine was that it was not necessary; not that it was required not to be done. As to the sale of the foreskin, etc., as long as there is a consent, I do not see the problem. The issue with taking tissue from aborted babies is that a corporal work of mercy is to bury the dead which leads to a general respect for the body as our bodies will rise again on the last day. Selling the umbilical cord blood or the placenta or the foreskin does not have a moral character to it as long as the patient is not being exploited and has not given consent for it. Perhaps, doctors or hospitals are not asking for consent, and in that case, I would agree that this needs to be a necessary step. I have always been fine with the decision my parents made to have me circumcised after birth. They, like parents do for their children, made a decision, and I agree with that decision. Even beyond the “difference” factor with other boys, I appreciate that it made cleanliness easier. I certainly and absolutely do not look down on any male who is uncircumcised, and I would never criticize anyone for refusing to have their sons circumcised. I will end that I would definitely also not look down on a parent who decided to have it done to their sons.
I’d recommend reading this article from a director at the Catholic Bioethics Center! www.chausa.org/publications/health-progress/article/september-october-2006/to-circumcise-or-not-to-circumcise-
As a circumcised male, I am glad my parents decided to have the procedure performed because I personally think an "un-cut" penis is ugly (not to mention the issues of "smegma" with foreskin). And no, it is not analogous to the real genital mutilation performed on females in African tribes where the clitoris is basically destroyed.
There are 4 different types of female genital cutting, as classified by the World Health Organization, each of varying degrees of damage and tissue removal. The most common type is Type 1, where there is a nick of the clitoral hood. Little to no tissue is removed. Obviously we're talking about 2 different types of genitals. However, any unnecessary cutting or meddling of a child's genitals is a violation of that childs basic right to bodily autonomy. Thats great that you're happy about the fact that someone else got to decide how much penis you were allowed to keep. However, it still doesn't make it right to do to a child.
There are many benefits (medical and cosmetic) of female circumcision. Not to mention the religious and parental rights to have their daughter circumcised. American women walk around with an Arby's roast beef sandwich down there and have the audacity to think men should be mutilated...
You would almost certainly not hold that view if you'd been allowed (like the vast majority of males in the world) to reach sexual maturity with all of your normal, healthy, functional, sensitive genital tissue intact. Objectively, a normal penis is not uglier than a partial penis. If you hadn't had the ill fortune of being born into a culture that practices irrational flesh cutting, you'd be no more likely to want healthy tissue torn from your penis than you would want it torn from your hands, feet, face etc.
So, you're basically accusing the Father of commanding His people, including Abraham and Christ, to be mutilated? You're saying the loving Father who created us wants to mutilate those in His creation who desire to follow Him? Please forgive me, but that does not make sense at all. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-19 -Yeshua
I think you are in left field with this topic. It is much more sanitary, then not. I’ll chalk it up to being a young mother. The video is a scare tactic.
Ali-Marie Ingram I am a boomer, myself and my three brothers were all circumcised. I don’t remember it, no emotional problems. Why don’t you tackle the real problems in our Church these days like the evil being done by the illegitimate Pope Bergoglio. He is dragging the Church into the depths of evil, with his one world government view. The man is a Marxist...period. You are starting to sound like you are on the road to modernism, I have seen moms like you, you’re trending towards being a helicopter parent. Take it from a 67 year old man, I have witnessed helicopter parenting in my own family. It’s not pretty, and you end up with a spoiled, resentful child. Love ya kid, but you’re drifting. 🙏✝️❤️
William Cabell hah!! Hate to break it to you, but ancient parenting did not circumcise their kids. That’s *hardly* helicopter parenting 😂 Protecting my child from bodily mutilation? You’re brainwashed... Sorry.
Ali-Marie Ingram mutilation, I don’t think I am mutilated, you’re projecting a straw men into the debate. Hey kid...knock yourself out, if that’s the way you feel, then ok. Just as long as you stay true to the faith. I think you have become even more beautiful after giving birth. 🙏✝️❤️ Oh by the way the ancient people’s didn’t have modern surgery. Just sayin. 🥴
