The people and high crime rates are my #1 reasons to get out. But the people are the absolute worst I have met anywhere. I have never lived anywhere else where I met so many horrible humans and never managed to make a single real friend in the 7+ years I have lived here. You don’t realize how on edge you are on a daily basis until you spend time somewhere else. I feel like I am always holding my breath in LA. I just want to relax a bit and LA is the opposite of relaxing.
This is The best video I seen on this topic, you gave props to the city, gave a realistic approach, and gave justified reasons for leaving. Tbh, I consider leaving all the time because if you want to be cozy in LA, you need to work towards being filthy rich or have a strong support system (stable partner or privileged family).
Girl my husband and I just left Santa Clarita! I lived in California for 30 years and my husband and I left this past January 2024 for pretty much every reason you mentioned. Moved to Virginia and finally experiencing a breath of a sane safe and happy new life! I wish you much luck! 😇
Good for you! Girl, I am right there with you. 2 of my sisters already moved to other states and they definitely have a better quality of life. I was born and raised here, lived here my whole life (also in my 30s) but it’s not the same place I grew up in. I’m soo over it, had enough for all the reasons you mentioned lol good luck in all your future endeavors! 😊
FACTS! I thought it was just me but Los Angeles has this way of grinding you down making you angry bitter and mean. I left for 2 weeks and went to Medellin to visit the fam and I was so much happier. Everyone is so angry and hateful in Los Angeles because of all the nonesense you have to put up with.
My sister is living in a 3 bedroom apartment in LA, and she is paying $5,200 a month, which is crazy! I live in Missouri, in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath facing a lake with my own garage for $1,000.
I literally identify with this video sooo much I just moved to Florida after living in LA for 8 years and I while I definitely miss my friends and other aspects of my life out there I became so miserable, depressed, angry and craved having my own place without roommates and having privacy and dealing with hustling multiple jobs at once, it just became too much, if I ever do go back my quality of life would have to be soo much better and you’re so right about the homeless situation it’s gotten so out of hand. I hope everything works out for you and your journey ❤❤ I will always love la and hold it dear to me but it’s just not the same anymore.
cool, i started watching your gig vids before I signed up for amazon flex - but watching the mass LA exodus from the east coast via videos has been wild. especially hearing a transparent, apolitical take on what it's actually like to be surrounded by such a huge homeless issue
Agree with everything you've said in this video. Especially, the general vibe. I've found myself becoming angrier everytime I leave my controlled space. It's madness. And even though I make six figures, it doesn't translate into the lifestyle you'd think. LA is your playground if you're making $250k+ as an individual. Like you I'm paying $2500/mnth for a studio while my friend in NC is paying $1500/mnth for his newly constructed 5br home. And yeah, I wouldn't mind paying all these taxes if they actually went towards fixing things....like the roads. Funny thing though, as you cross into Bev Hills from DTLA/Ktown the roads suddenly become smooth as silk from the Jeep Jamboree they normally are. Gee wonder I why.
I love it too! I’ve been here for 7 years but after 7 years of dumping money into renting and taxes I’m over it! I come from a small town too and now that I’m older I really want the small town simple life again!

LOL! That's why I will only do this 3-4 days out of the week max! Strictly part time. I've seen traffic jams at 2-3 in the morning for no apparent reason!!!

Ha! I told you to get out of there two years ago! 😏😉 If you like warm weather you should come back to Florida (though it's been unseasonably cold around here lately). Though a lot of ex-Cali's have been moving to Arizona and turning it blue; but in a few years they'll be fleeing to NM or TX.

Been in Los Angeles over a decade, 26/38. Got a big job promotion in Miami. I never thought I would leave Los Angeles,es, my wife and I love it. Sorry you didn’t like it. Not for everyone. I hope we love Miami.
Miami is no different it’s just you have to be ready for tropical weather that’s not nothing to play with & then you’re going to have to keep wealth circulating to live nice there. Florida is not for the weak minded as well coming from someone’s who’s from Florida but not Miami. The good part is it’s very diverse, fun, and a whole lot to do.
I left my home in LA 25-years ago when I began to see it drastically change, for the worse. Just add 25-years of Democratic "leadership" to this number to see how far it's fallen. San Francisco's entire retail/tourist industry has fallen, and Oakland is a virtual graveyard. Now, the same thing is happening to NYC. God help you all...
