In this brief video I try to explain as to how Marxism can actually benefit from poststructuralist and postmodern thought.

Thank you a ton for the video Sir. There is often a strict binary constructed between Marxism and Postmodernism & Postructuralism. And I always used to feel that may be there is some lack or gap in my understanging of theories and ideas, because I always find ideas of Gramsci, Althuser combined with ideas of Baudrillard, Lyotard, Foucault help in reading our current world and its institutions in a much more nuanced way and better. And these theories and ideas intersect and overlap while analysing the structure and workings of the current world of transnational corporations, social media, tech giants, post-truth, climate change.

I agree with everything you said here. I would say you are actually describing anarchism. How do you feel about that? Are you familiar with anarchism? Since anarchist not only reject the state, they also reject all social hierarchies and centralized authority including the gender binary which you eluded to. Many anarchist past and present have eluded to what you have to say regarding Marxism, but specifically Marxism Leninism. Anarchist tend to have an intersectional analysis and some anarchist even reject dialectical historical materialism, seeing it as a totality, a unitary vision and analysis, and most interesting is that DHM is inherently hierarchical and authoritarian. For example I will speak to CCP supporters who justify China engaging in state capitalism based solely on the material conditions. In which an anarchist would respond that would create new form of social hierarchy and central authority. In fact most MLs attack anarchist and other tendencies as being "idealistic" and "utopian". Thank you for these videos!

Thank you. I am personally opposed to all entrenched hierarchies, so there is that anarchist strain in my praxis, but most of the times I find myself really mixing whatever could be mobilized in building solidarities against power, solidarities without any centralized hierarchies.

Thanks a lot Dr Raja, I found this video most useful, it is as if you put my thoughts 'in order'. For sure, the power is now in the hands of the big corporations. Here in Europe and particularly in Spain, we have an enormous problem with the prices of energy escalating at an alarming and exorbitant pace day by day since last September, and the government seems unable to find a solution, nor does the EU. The kw/h is now oscillating around 200€! I think this is a clear example of the atrocious power of these corporations; and the impact on the people, especially the poor, is tragic. As everyone knows, energy is a staple product that we need for lighting, heating, etc. and what is more, as a result, the prices of food are increasing too. One feels impotent in front of these multinationals. On the other hand, yes, I totally agree with you, 'old' marxism cannot provide with answers since Marx's analysis was based on a very different kind of society structure and economic system. The world has changed completely and we need, as you say, to learn from writers who revised his work and contribute with new visions of reality.

@@masoodraja Thank you for replying. Well I was asking because of Rockhill's lecture on tpost '68 French Theory and it's trajectory away from class struggle. He frames it as Capital exerting its influence on Continental philosophy to focus on areas deemed less threatening. It's not clear to me the extent of either influence or complicity he posits, nor if he thinks there is any surviving utility in their work.

thanks alot, when you talk about multi national companies but do they not operate as a state within themselves? they do represent class conflict, as the CEOs and so on are the directly representing the capitalist class. amazon also hires ppl to go and spread nonsense about why unions are bad and so on, so does the company isn't working as the state itself? So why would multi nationals being a thing would be something that goes against marxist thought? or well not go against it but would be something alien to it? and wouldn't the it workers and so on also still be labor, how would it go say that this is something completely unique and not different? Your right on destroying stuff like gender binary. Destroying narrative and the hold of capital like marx fisher says that the capitalism has created the real to be something alone its line. So having more knowledge would help in bringing forth a new real one away from capitalist's realism. how can we strength a capitalist state? isn't it inherently against the workers? as we see isn't it just working hand in hand with the international capital? Wouldnt strenghting a state that is inherently reactionary also be problematic? wouldn't it be better to have a state that represents the masses?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I just believe that one has to have a wider way of looking at problems than just based in class. Other than that, I have no allegiance to any single philosophy or praxis.

13:33 - Sir, totally agree on corporations and multinationals having more power than nation states. Also want to add that this now goes to the extent of transnationals and corporations influencing public policy and legislation. Thus we not only need to strengthen the state, but simultaneously keep a check on the state to ensure that its institutions ate functioning as the arbitrar for the public/citizens/people and not becoming complicit with the corporatist agenda. If the Thatcher-Regan pioneered neoliberalism had laid the foundations of the state & corporations nexus on a symbiotic level , then now we have reached the next stage where political power is often subservient to corporate power, and corporates becoming entities beyond nation state boundaries and parameters & then perhaps people need to now reclaim the state back for its administrative & regulatory role as body of representative government.
