Please make a video on when did you decided to go for USMLE! How was your stress level while preparing for it? How many hours in a day did you study? How much time did it take you to clear all the steps? Did you plan everything in advance about when to take the steps or you just kept giving then ?
I was one of the top students in my school and being a doctor in my country is great deal , so I chose to become a doctor without passion for that. When I entered medical school, there was the time when I decided to change my college and start again (in the third stage) but my family was against that so I kept on. I am graduated now and I followed you on instagram so I think I am falling for medicine because of you and some other Instagrammers these days🤣 I think it is a gift so I will try to love it more from now on. I do agree that medicine doesn’t involve nepotism. However, having parents or people in your family who did medicine does make it easier to get into medicine like with networking, getting the work experience you got (which is very rare to get at that age) etc. And I have never heard that mentioning your medical family background in interviews does not go against you. I don’t want to seem like I’m hating but I just wanted point out that what you said about nepotism in medicine is not always true.
Hi!! I guess I was just thinking of my USA audience when I was filming this and comparing my experience in the UK to how it is here in the USA (where nepotism is much more common and doctor parents even help with their kids' medschool applications and jobs in America! Not that I agree with this approach of course, just the way things work here in the USA). Thank you for your comment, it is definitely beneficial to have parents in medicine in terms of career mentorship and guidance they can give! And yes, it can help to have parents in medicine for work experience too! Most hospitals still make you apply via their main office for safety/legal reasons, but in a lot of cases, personal connections can help with this. I agree with you! You should make a video on how you time manage. For eg how you fit in cooking? Meal plans? Making time for exercise etc that would be very useful. I’m a final year medical student and still struggling with this so that would be very useful!! Love your videos btw
You are such an inspiration to young old and whsteva background ppl are from bcz you speak wiv so much compassion enthusiasm and passion and your very relatable bcz your so down to earth and not a slight bit arrogant or a snob despite your educational upbringing and background, all credit goes to your parents for instilling such good values in you and taught you how to become such a humble down to earth person so well done to them and to you for not letting your job get to your head. I could listen to you all day, if you weren’t a doctor you would do so good as a motivational speaker bcz you have something g about you that can draw an audience to listen to you and take your advice and knowledge. I was thinking of going into medicine after I finish college in 2 years, so I’ll be 20. I’m worried that I might be too old to start a family after finishing medical school and residency. I’m assuming I would be around 27 when I finish everything. How do you deal with not being able to start a family at a young age? Do you think it’s worth putting your family life on hold?
In india the case is different,if you want to survive in india you should be a doctor or an engineer.To get into a medical college you should compete with 18 million students with only few seats.There are no other ways to make money if you are from a middle class family.

You wanting to become a doctor is appreciated. There are many who would really want to. But how you actually became a doctor is because your parents could afford it. Its as simple as that...
In the UK, medical school is far more affordable than it is in the USA. Students can take out loans to pay for medical school. In addition, in the UK, if your family income is below a certain threshold you are eligible for bursaries from the government to pay for part of your schooling. So you comment is totally incorrect, and dismissive. I appreciate that I was from a financially stable background, but me and my siblings took out loans to pay for medical school as it is still expensive.

Hello, I think you’re great but Did you say that your dad told you not to become a doctor? Because it’s hard! I think becoming a doctor is supposed to be hard, if it wasn’t, then anyone can become a doctor instead of the special people that actually are doctors! My dad advised me to study and become a doctor because he didn’t want me digging ditches( like he does) that’s hard! Being a doctor is one of the most honorable things someone can do in life!!! I'm so glad to hear it! It really depends which country you're in! Do some research to figure out your journey, most people need to do an entrance exam to apply for medical school and then it's 4-6 years of Medical School! Best of luck!
Sorry to hear you're very disappointed! Although some people in my MedSchool are also from families of doctors, many, many of my friends in the UK are the first doctors in their family! I most certainly do recognise my privilege, and comment that my upbringing inspired my decision to become a doctor. My privilege would have helped me in any career I chose (not just medicine) and I feel very thankful and blessed to have parents who were able to support me in my career choices and emphasise the value of education :) Alhadmdulillah. Using anecdotes to say you know people who are the first in their family unfortunately does not negate the statistics which show the contrary. Ofc, privilege can help with all careers but nepotism is very much a reality in the UK within the medical field and it would be nice to see that addressed.
Medicine is hard. I am the only doctor in my family and never realized the lifestyle. I think it would be so beneficial to have parents in the field to be able to show you how life will be.
when I was applying for medical school, I did not worry about this (rather naively!), but when I was close to graduation yes I worried about it a lot! You learn a lot on the job which makes you stronger!
I didn't have Biology in my school. Regretting the choice I made, and currently doing Engineering. Can I pursue medicine in USA after Engg if i take a premed course and then appear for MCAT, after Engg? Or even for the school students, without Bio in 12th, can they take up a premed course and then appear for MCAT for MD Admissions. Please do tell, how's it in the UK too - for such students who didn't take Biology subject in 12th grade schooling, but had Physics, Chemistry and Maths
What did you do for gcse and what grades did you get. Do I have to do triple science gcse to get into a Russel group university for medicine. I’m doing my gcse this year 😬🤣
@@aissabah3720 hi! I know this wasn’t aimed at me but I recently found out I got an interview at Sheffield and Oxford for medicine, and my school only offered double science. Just try and get 9,9 if you have to do double or at least 8,9 :)
Hi i was wondering do you have to have intercalated degrees and extra publications to work in america?, will this help you in your application or is 5 years of medical school enough to complete with passing the Step 1, Step 2 CS and CK, also do they look at which medical school you graduate and is that considered in your application? If you don't graduate from a top school in UK do they look down on you?
Email the hopsitals or anyone you might know in medicine! It might be difficult now that there's a pandemic though unfortunately :( most places aren't taking visiting students!

Good point! I felt that the benefits far outweighed the negatives for me - every career is stressful unfortunately, you just have to learn to manage the stress!
