While I don't actually play Flesh and Blood myself, I remember going to a TCG convention about a year ago and meeting a handful of players who did and they were extremely passionate about explaining it to all of us and even offered to give us some cards. The game looks quite unique and it's so nice and refreshing to see something succeed without the support of huge companies behind it. Here's to many more years of Flesh and Blood!
It's never too late to learn. This game is incredible, and the community is even better. I can't recommend enough for everyone to at least give the game a try.
@@MaraFaris I'll need to take a look at it soon myself I gotten bored of mtg and Yu-Gi-Oh has died to me awhile back with it's annoyance meta driven decks and games being run with almost all the same cards.
Can't recommend the game enough. I played magic for 13+ years and did it all (vintage, 93/94, cEDH, modern, pioneer etc.) and I can honestly say the game is just more enjoyable overall. I still have a few EDH decks for multiplayer at my friends' place but I'm done with WotC
Prof. When you did your “how to play FaB” video I scoffed. I said the same things everyone else did. When MTG 30th came around, I lost all my confidence in Wizards and fled. Your video popped up again and I decided “screw it, I’ll give this a real go”. Best decision I’ve ever made. I love this game. It’s wildly accessible, and incredibly fun to play. I only pray that you do MORE FAB content for us
If Flesh and Blood releases a product to commemorate its 5 year anniversary in the near future, I hope they kick Wizards in the teeth by releasing an awesome product catered towards their players at an affordable price.
Looking at the reprint philosophy, which clearly states that "careful consideration will be made to the effect the reprint will have on the secondary card market", I do not have high hopes.
I left MTG in spring of last year for FaB and I haven't looked back. 1.5 years later and I have a massive FaB collection, a growing RU-vid channel around the game, and I feel more a part of a community than I ever did with Magic. Also, in the hopes that you read this, Prof: you were and still are a huge inspiration to me when it comes to making videos. I've always admired your top notch quality. Looking forward to meeting you at Worlds!
What Flesh and Blood really really needs to survive is for them to release proxies of their original set. Not all of them but actually in packs and they can charge say a grand for 4 packs. That would help them out a lot.
Full art Spring Tunic??👀👀👀 I'm obsessed with it. I had 3 of the normal ones from pulls but I sold one. So I'm sitting on two of Flesh and Blood's Version of the Black Lotus.
I'll see your $1000 proxy set and raise you a set made entirely of reprints from the first three older sets, including lots and lots of needed reprints (including Spring Tunic) that are readily available, tournament legal, and easily accessible at $4 a pack. Oh, Flesh and Blood already did that. God I love this game.
It was great meeting you in the Flesh and Blood in Vegas, and we look forward to seeing you in San Jose! Thank you for being so passionate about great gaming experiences. Long live Flesh and Blood!
As a New Zealander I so damn proud we have made such a great TCG format. Over here games like MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh or even your D&Ds and Warhammers are so niche. Flesh and Blood has changed the game though I see card game stores packed here on FAB nights more the even MTG. The community is even openly trying to get out of the game stores like a bar I used to bartend at had some FAB players come after a tournament and they openly started organisng a FAB night or event at the bar with my manager so we can get business on our quite days. Was very heart warming to overhear.
I’m a kiwi too and I feel that I probably should be getting into this game for that reason. The fact that they seem to actually give a shit about their players is a bonus!
We're doing this in America, as well. Or at least my town. We play FaB, MTG, or WH40k, and then head to the pub. One of my spots to play MTG is a gaming pub!
I really appreciate you putting more eyes on Flesh and Blood. I love this game, it has my favorite implementation of a flexible resource system and games typically have a high level of player interaction. The world and the lore being built are solid fantasy and the artwork is often exceptional. It's not always perfectly balanced, but no game is, and each set has been bringing new heroes and deck ideas along with cards that expand on existing heroes and bring us new ways to build them. The FaB 2.0 model also seems like a real success, offering accessibility and collectability without restrictive pricing.
Thank you for this video my friend! FAB is truly an excellent game and here to stay! I hope this video helps convince more folks to try it out. I'll see you at Worlds!
I completely converted from MTG to FaB back in Dec 2021, and I completely love it. The philosophy behind the game with its creators is inspiring and the game itself is so very well designed. They deserve all the praise and success. Will continue to support and play, looking forward to Dynasty.
@@TheTacticalBat Ya, I still got a good chunk of my EDH decks, haven’t sold off much but stopped buying MTG. Though they have a good layer of dust on them now.
Such passion in the game is proof in the pudding - a rarity in today's age. I love seeing people enjoying a game - any game. This card game is visceral in its delivery and is a home run for those who want to enjoy a game
I was pretty wary about the game at the start for some of the reasons you mentioned others were, but that all evaporated the instant I bought a blitz deck and just played the game. It's so much fun and I'm so glad it's around.
I had actually just learned about Flesh and Blood a few weeks ago from my manager, and I'll eventually get to play soon as heading there with them to play as they have a couple extra decks for me to try, I didn't realize the game was already three years old. Everything I hear about the game makes me more at ease as I get into it as I have gotten into a couple in the past that just die, and left me with some cardboard no one wants to play with.
i watched this video, did some more research, and immediately went out bought some blitz decks, and a booster, thank you for this video prof. you revitalized my card game love.
Worth noting if you live near San Jose - where worlds is - there is a special 'welcome to the game' event package you can get that comes with blitz decks, begginer packs, a playmat and 3 begginer event tickets.
I just saw this the other day! That's so incredible. I'm bringing at least 2 newbie friends with me to worlds now that I know it exists. I'm so excited.
Cant thank you enough for your video teaching me how to play this game 2 years ago flesh and blood now gives me a hobby and a way to meet people ive been attending battle hardens left and right with friends making memory's ill never forget!
My lgs was known for having big FNMs and hosting MTG tournaments just a few years ago. I went back recently after not going for a while, and found that no one played MTG anymore, and instead everyone is playing Flesh and Blood. Now it's nearly impossible for me to find a person to play modern with me, whereas there are tables filled with Flesh and Blood players. Friends, Flesh and Blood feels really alive.
Since you're the reason my brother and I got into FaB in the first place, I am so glad you're enjoying it just as much as we are! It's my primary TCG now, with Magic taking a bit of a sideline to it in the past year. Thank you for being a force for games that respect their players
It makes me happy to see someone with such heart succeed. Although I myself don't play Flesh and Blood I'll willing support anyone who puts its player base first. While it is the goal of any company to make money it shouldn't be the first priority especially if the thing you sell has emotional value to a large base of people. It saddens me that WOTC has turned into what it is but I will continue to support all streamers and content creators that I have watched for years bo matter what game they enjoy
You know it's never too late to give the game a try. This video doesn't even scratch the surface of just what an incredible community we have in FaB. I'm sure anyone in your local area would be happy to teach you if you have a local community.
I just played my first game earlier today. I absolutely love the way this game emulates the same feel as the older magic sets both flavorfully and balance-wise, and I’m really excited to be able to play another.
It was great to meet you at the first US Calling, Professor. Thank you for introducing a new wave of players to Flesh and Blood. In our FaB Fam, players and collectors all get along and support one another, because almost all of us are both! FaB4Life 💚💙💜!!!
One thing you didn't mention, your armor cards (likely your most expensive cards) aren't even played in the actual deck, so you can hard case them and not worry about degrading the cards. AND those cards won't ever rotate out.
They do sometimes get banned/restricted, but then like any card that starts the game in play, you have the risk that that card will be a bit too strong and need to be balanced
Yeah they don't rotate but being banned/restricted out of your favorite character because they earned 1000 points throughout the world means there in is effect a rotation because they get can get these points within 6 months to a year. Not too happy with the Living Legend system even though that was one of the major selling points for me at the beginning.
@@tbd3058 Doesn't matter when the game is still better in almost every aspect. Why would you play and support an inferior product? There is enough people to play with too.
One of my newest and best tcg memories was going to a FAB event at my local LGS, learning how the game worked that day, then accidentally failing upwards and getting a full sweep in the tournament that day. My opponents were so excited and patient with me as I was learning the rules! I then used the winnings to get a double masters booster, and the pack had a dockside extortionist in it. All in all, FaB is gr8!!! Would recommend to a friend

Great video, love me some FaB. I, left MTG in 2020 after nearly 15 years in the game, FaB has scratched the itch and I have not regretted at all the move to FaB. Thanks for highlighting this awesome game!
I've been playing FaB for a year now, since the Aria prerelease, and I'll be honest, I haven't played a game of Magic since I picked up this game. Last month I finally decided with a heavy heart that Magic was just not for me anymore with all of the changes WotC has brought to the game seeking quick profits, and I sold off my fetches, shocks, and such. It hurts to leave behind something that once meant so much to me, but FaB means so much to me >now
Thank you for making this video Prof! I have been playing flesh and blood since Tales of Aria released and I love the game so much, hope to see you at worlds!
Prof, you were actually the first contact I had with FaB. I tried it out, really vibed with it, hells even the other content creators that share their time with us like you do are enjoyable. It’s a great game with a great community!
Im a yugioh player, but a local card shop owner introduced me to FaB and it hooked me and my brother. I just dont have time to play it as much as i want, but its affordable and accessible
The game is so much fun and so deep. I was at the Calling Vegas in 2021. One of my best friends opened the very first Korshem Crossroad of Elements on Friday, and I got to Day 2 of the calling with my favorite hero Dash. I was happy to be able to chat with you for even just a couple of minutes about my favorite hero, have you sign a card for me, and you even noticed the Alter I have for her. That whole weekend was so much fun and a fantastic memory I will always treasure.
even with the price of some legendries, you can build a highly-tuned-competitive deck for $300-$500. like Professor mentioned, most of that cost is the legendary equipment which can be used for other hero's and other formats. even if you want to invest $50 and go play at an armory event, you will still have great interactions with the high level players.
Yeah. Big issue atm is we just need more good generic equipment, but that's fine the game's an eternal-format so we'll get there. We have good head options, but we could really use another generic legend tunic and also some more glove/legs options.
I love whenever you post Flesh and Blood content! Flesh and Blood is growing soooo much thanks to the last few sets it's unreal! I've played it for 2 months now and I love the community.
Also, random tidbit, a good budget option for Spring Tunic is Blossom of Spring. If you don't intend to go longer than 5 turns, it's just as good. Edit: Well, kind of, lol. Obviously it doesn't have the block option, and it's not instant speed. But for most scenarios, it will work fine.
Hands down best Tcg ever! MTG and wotc should be worried... truly a legendary product with so much potential for long term growth. Cash prize Pro circuit is expanding and we haven't even seen the limit of its formats... Try it out of you've not yet.
Thank your for continuing to put a spotlight on this game. I've been a long time PTQ/SCG Open grinder and Wotc's lackluster commitment to OP has been heartbreaking. FAB has been scratching the itch however.
As someone who has played Magic, Yugioh, Pokemon, and My Hero Academia, Flesh and Blood is by far the best card game I've ever played. Especially now, all of the deck archetypes are powerful and pretty balanced, the game itself is pure strategy and very little luck so you don't get just screwed like in so many other card games, and you can build amazing decks for $30, if that. The price tag alone should be enough to convince players of other card games. You can certainly buy the $300 equipment cards if you like, but I've got a $50 Dash deck that has been tearing apart my game stores that have invested thousands into the game. If you haven't tried the game yet, I beg you to do so
Prof, video idea. "Many magic the gathering players ask the question, how do you play Flesh and Blood?" Cause, like, I think at this point people be interested
I love flesh and blood! Having so much fun going back to my LGS for the first time in a long time playing this game. I have spent very little money - even with draft chaff and free bulk given to me from more seasoned players, I have been able to make some decently competitive decks. Getting all my friends into it now. Such a refreshing and fun TCG, full stop.
With MTG slowly burning me out with all of the corporate greed, I was curious about getting into a game like this. Do you guys have any suggestions for the best F&B products to start out with? I would love to get into a game like this!
If your LGS supports it they should have a free Ira trial deck to give out - after that, any of the preconstructed Blitz decks are a good starting point
Blitz decks are great, but if you can swing it you should definitely buy a box of one of the main sets. With just 1 box you can make a competent blitz deck for every hero in that set.
I recommend for example DMArmada’s comparison of blitz decks currently available, and pick one (or preferably more) of those. They are cheap and filled with very playable cards, and more importantly quite balanced against each other. The heroes each play a bit differently so it might take a few tries to find one you best identify with in terms of gameplay.
Awesome video Brian. I'm really happy to see you promoting Flesh and Blood like this. Most importantly debunking the myth of "Nobody plays the game" and "Cards are too expensive". These myths have been around since 1 year into the game and it's so far from the truth in this current day. Looking forward to seeing you at worlds!
I went from a yugioh player, to mtg player, to FaB player and this is by far the best game I’ve ever played. Still play edh tho

Ok, i admit i got clickbaited. But not only I am not angry, but i discover that friend from my local game club had blitz deck for months and was waiting to play it. Well, after a quick chat I bought my own Blitz deck and some boosters. Looking forward to play it next week. We'll see if I should thank you or curse you professor! 😅
After I left Magic after strixhaven I thought I’d be done with tcgs as I just wasn’t interested in digital clients or multiplayer. I am so glad I saw your 15 min how to play when I did - because I went to an event that week and I loved it. I brought it to my LGS and we’ve now run over a year’s worth of Armory events. They just announced a new player package at Sam Jose at a competitive price which is super cool.
ever since i first heard of Flesh and Blood about a year ago i've been interested in it, but i could never really find local game stores hosting events or selling packs, but now one of the stores near me is hosting events and selling product so i might give it a try sometime. Having magic as a hobby is already expensive enough (even though i mostly play pauper) , but as a broke highschool student, a much more affordable game like Flesh and Blood sounds like everything i wanna hear!
Card games at competitive level always are expensive. FAB has pretty pricy cards that you might want to play with but also the advantage that decks can run mostly affordable cards and a couple substitutions in the equipment slot and therefore still have a very stable and consistent maindeck and gameplan. Because many people start out because the tournament cycle draws them in this isn't paid much attention to but I think it's a considerable advantage if you don't let comparisons to the highest level of competition dissuade you, there's much more to explore than what players put time in still as there's so much understanding to develop for the game system, it's so good.
@@Xoulrath_ I never said i find pauper expensive, but magic as a hobby in general. Pauper is cheap, 20$ a deck is not expensive. But i also own a few commander decks and that makes the hobby a lot more expensive, that's why i mostly play pauper. I can't afford the other formats.
@@arcodrift6112 thank you, yeah it's not only about cost saving, i'm also just really interested in the game! Switching from magic to FaB would only cost me more since i don't own any cards yet and i would have to buy a deck and stuff. I hope to try it out sometime in the future, a friend of mine also said he was interested so we might even start playing together!
I had no idea this game existed! My friends are kinda burned out by MTG because there are too much releases and we can't keep up... can't wait to introduce flesh and blood to them, perhaps this is the fresh air we needed
I just love this game, congrats to lss for making the 3 year mark and im sure there will be a lot more to come. Im sure if anyone try this game, they will have a lot fun and enjoy it😊👍
Two YEARS left? Yeah right! FAB has two DAYS left. Two days left until I buy some starter Blitz decks and finally try it for the first time thanks to The Professor!
I’ve been enjoying FaB immensely as a casual player. My preferred format is Blitz, but I’m hyped for the PvE format coming next year. My Academic deck box, also arriving next year, will hold Commoner decks to introduce others to the game.
@@garrettgreenhalgh9109 theres some interviews on it, I believe an actual product release is supposed to be next year. My guess is it will be like gloomhaven but with your FaB deck
@@garrettgreenhalgh9109 I replied but the included link might have caused the system to remove the comment. Look up “FaB 2.0” and look for the section where they discuss what will be their flagship social product.
I switched from Mtg to Fab a bit more than a year ago and i don't regret it one bit. It's a great game with a growing community nice events and good prize support. They could announce big tournaments like the callings a bit earlier but im pretty happy how things went. Sure, there were some growing pains and still are, but i think LSS moved far in the right direction with the banned and suspended list, the switch from first ed. and unlimited to a single product and the constant work on balancing the game. I think the meta at the moment is the best in the games history and im hyped for the new supplemental set!
I have to say i was one of those guys that didnt want to try the game out because the initial prices of boxes and singles they were so expensive at first. But last year when i got my first blitz deck i fell in love. The game is just so much fun my only thing is until recently i wasnt able to attended tournaments because of my work schedule but i plan to play alot now that i can play again.
How much wizards jave disappointed me and also how much i feel excluded from the rich boys club... This game seems interesting enough to give it a spin. Thanks for sharing Prof
Thank you professor! I was introduced to the TCG world by your channel. But it wasn’t until yoy showed how to play flesh and blood. Was when I learned !
F&B Has been the most enjoyable game I've ever played since I started a few months ago, amazingly balanced and fun, and the community both at my local events and online has been the kindest I've ever seen for any TCG
Prof, you’re my favourite content creator. Your videos were a literal saviour when I started with Magic and have provided vital information and vital entertainment too. As someone who has recently felt disillusioned with Magic, I turned to Flesh and Blood and whilst still beginning, have found a fantastic game. PLEASE continue to make more Flesh and Blood content! Make as much as you can! Your voice will be well loved in this space. Thanks for the great videos.
Flesh and Blood is going to finally be distributed in Brazil really soon and my lgs will hold a release event teaching about the game, after this video i cant wait to try it
This video helped convince me to sell off a bunch of MTG singles to buy F&B booster boxes. Going back tomorrow to trade in more cards for a booster box.
Great video. Me and a buddy have been talking about dipping our toe into another TCG and this game is the one we're interested in the most. Going to pick up a pre-constructed blitz deck at my local LGS. Also, the biting criticism against "those whom shall not be named" about product overload didn't go unnoticed from me Prof! Keep up the fantastic content!
Tried to find the decks for sale in Glasgow (Scotland) today and I couldn't find a single store that carried them. I did however find packs for sale in one shop so I got myself a pack of the Monarch set :) . I'll probably order some decks online tonight and see what this game is like to play.
I've been having such a fun time learning to play recently. The blitz decks looked interesting when I was checking at my LGS, glad I made that impulse buy. Having fun teaching my friends how to play just like how I taught them to play Magic when we were in highschool
I'm just glad this game didn't crash because of the speculative market. When I first heard about FaB it was during that time people were hoarding what boxes didnt get stalled by supply chain issues. Its really promising that this studio actually worked to getting cards into peoples hands
I don't know if you see comments on old posts Prof, but I went to Worlds today and participated in the Fresh to Fab event thanks to this video and loved my first time playing Flesh and Blood! I know a lot of the other players in the event I talked to mentioned you and your FAB videos as the reason they went as well. Thanks for everything you do!
At a fantasy con I've seen more tables with Flesh&Blood than with MtG, I think it was a tournament. Great that the new game is supporting the players directly.
Lovely video Professor. I was working on a game from 2014 to 2017 when I got discouraged from naysayers and put it to bed, but flesh and blood has been a true inspiration to give it another go. It may take off, it may not; but in life you just never know until you give it a go
How refreshing that a company actually wants time for players to digest and enjoy the product instead of having them gulp down a seemingly endless stream of products. I hope FaB can maintain that philosophy by the time it reaches its 30 year anniversary!
Yeah, for now. Right now they want good PR. Their endgame is becoming the new WoTC and being able to do what they are doing. It's the capitalist mindset of every investors.
interesting, i am just finding out about this game from this video, can't wait to give it a shot. seems interesting, and the prices currently are fairly inexpensive.
We even have really big tournaments like the Pro Tour and Callings in europe. Pro players and casuals fly from all over europe to New Jersey Pro Tour and next month to the World Championchip in San Jose. And I can't wait to see what LSS will bring next year to further grow our community and also to keep connecting us to the rest of the world. My girlfriend just told me last week, I am talking about players like Pablo Pintor, Christian Hauk, Matthew Foulkes or Bartosz Ziemba like other people talk about their favorite football club. I said sure, for me those people are our european Flesh and Blood superstars.
I'm into FAB for the long haul now. I'll still play MTGO and hit up my locals for legacy once in a blue moon but I'm always beyond excited to go to my other locals for Armory night every Thursday. See ya at Worlds, prof! Thanks for continuing to spotlight this awesome game.
The flavor of Flesh and Blood really isn't for me, I can't get into it myself. But I am very happy to see competitors succeeding, I want fires lit under the big bois like WOTC to improve not only the game itself, but their prices, package models, and the way their treat their fans.
This is how I feel. I wish that I liked FAB. The art is great. The card quality is great. The game itself is severely lacking. But I hope that it lasts for those who like it. I'm just very skeptical that it will.
I gave it a good go. Went from precons to buying singles to build stronger decks. My main beef with FaB is the "simplistic" play and lack of diversity. I enjoy complex, strategic, jank, that mtg can provide. I do wish FaB well, but it just isn't for me.
@@Nboost8 you reading my mind?! Lol. I had high hopes for the game, but as you mention, the "simplistic" repetitive gameplay feels the same. Each hero feels too similar. Attack, block, repeat. Throw a few Instants in there. Draw to hand size. Pass turn and do the exact same thing, except this time it's your opponent's turn. If I wanted to play chess, then I'd play chess. This game tries way too hard to be "balanced," but fails in doing so, and the strategic and tactical diversity that has made Magic last for so long is just not there.
@@thejoulesthief6841 not at all. It's more to do with the base construction of the game. Where certain cards can only be used with certain heroes. Then as new sets come out they release new hero types or new mechanics specific to a class. This is some cases makes the existing cards somewhat obsolete or the existing cards don't go well with the new cards. Think of the elemental aspect. I know the card pool isn't going to be extraordinarily large at this point, but I also don't see it expanded while being inclusive of older sets. Like if you were only allowed to play 2 colors max in mtg. Idk, that's just how I felt while playing it.
I recently spent multiple weekends with friends drafting Uprising for 6-8 hours testing for nationals. It was such a great experience, and the gameplay remained fun and interesting even after 12 full drafts
Love your content Professor! I found FAB and have been thinking about it a lot. It keeps me constantly thinking about card combinations and TCGs was not something i had previously had a passion for. Great game and a really exciting future! cheers for your support of the game.
