The Andis Styliner 2: In this video, I will demonstrate why the Andis Stylinner is the best professional trimmer out there. I will be walking through the inside's of the Andis styliner trimmer as well as the Andis T Outliner which is one of the most popular trimmers with professional barbers and why no barber should be without the Andis Styliner.

+Larrythebarberman You are exactly right about the Andis Styliner 2 and the Andis Styliner M3 being the best trimmer ever. The only reason most barbers stay away from the Styliner is because of the blades being a little complex to adjust. Other than that the trimmer doesn't run hot and in case you hardly have to adjust the tension on the blade. but it most powerful and sharpest trimmer on the market if the barber knows what he or she is doing.

setting the tension on the styliner is actually even easier than you demonstrated, you don't have to remove the blade at all. The bottom of the tension screw is visible from the outside of the top blade. It's very small but it's machined to receive a torx t-5 bit. you can then insert the bit into the bottom of the screw and adjust the tension with the blade still on the clipper. Note however that you will actually turn the screw clockwise to loosen and counterclockwise to tighten because it's opposite when turning the bottom of a screw.

great video . I only have the original t-outliner honestly one of my best investments ever. Mine is stock with no adjusted faceplate . I want to buy the two next newer andis outliners.

the styliner 2 & m3 have more power than the t-outliner. 15 watts vs 10-12 watts, you can feel the difference

My Question if the andis is modified already, why not just cut it a little further so you can get to the tension screw? WIthout opening the whole trimmer cover?

+Larrythebarberman To be honest with you the Styliner 2 is the most powerful and best trimmer out today. The only reason why barbers tend to not like the Styliner 2 is the blade is a little complex to zero gap. But the Styliner 2 doesn't get no way as near hot as the T-OUTLINER. In order to have the T-OUTLINERS as your go to trimmers. You would at least have to have 2 pair of them in your arsenal because of the heating issues.
@jameswalker8014
@jameswalker8014 7 лет назад
listen the Styliner 2 will always be the best trimmers and why? Because once you have the blade set you can adjust the speed from the outside meaning you can have a client with sensitive skin and you can instantly turn down the speed to their liking and personally it my go to trimmer for the kids because outlining on the kids is the hardest part of cutting kids so for you to be able to adjust speed to a quite buzz is a must

I find styleliners better for balding hair on sides since they dont get as hot and t- outliners for line ups since they usually get hot from consistent use
@mynamelildarryl71
@mynamelildarryl71 Год назад
They're the best because they simply don't get hot. They're harder to adjust the blade but once you get them set, they hit harder than any trimmer out. I hate they got discontinued smh.
@feelgoodfour9839
@feelgoodfour9839 4 года назад
People don't like them because they're harder to adjust, you need to know what you're doing to get the most of them. Once adjusted correctly, they hit harder than the outliners.

I just came across this video. These are the trimmers i used to shave my face. 10x better then shaving. I mod my trimmers to get that sharpe crispy look. I dry shave afterwards. I think you need to promote these trimmers more in your videos for black men to used when it coming to shaving vs using the razor

the t outliners and gtx models cut better for me 9 times our of 10. I agree with everything Larry said in this video but I've always had better results with the t outliner as far as actual edging performance goes

I love my Styliner 2 the T Liner gets extremely hot quick. I hate that, it starts to burn the skin, that's why you got to have so many T liners available when you have plenty of clients.

Word, mine get hot using them too long at the house. Cause I do my bald lines as well as dry shave and my hair line. I have to unplug them so they cool down and come back, but I never have had to with my Styliner 2's.

Hi Larry i am very fortunate I went to my Barber for advise of a trimmer for the first beard of my life. He offered to sell me a Styliner 2 fitted recently with a new blade for the price of the blade. They are unavaialble new these days all the merrits you mention make me think if am lucky to have one with pleanty of life remaining in it.
@mynamelildarryl71

Damn, he was giving that away. Even when they were production, they were at least 60-70 bucks, now they're even more expensive after being discontinued and I've seen the same ones for 2 and 300 dollars.

I unfortunately have the newer version of the T Outliners. The power needs adjusted. I have set the tension but they just don't seam to be hitting right. They will shave my arm hair well but for lines they don't cut for crap. They don't sound as if they have as much power as they once did. What do we do now to fix it?
@rockygrimjr.2542
@rockygrimjr.2542 7 лет назад
alviiiiin1988 Thanks for your reply. I have adjusted the ball and tension. I fractured the corner off the original blade shortly after purchase. It was a light 3 inch drop on the corner of the blade. I then replaced it with another brand new blade. There is no bent or broken parts just looks like the armature is pretty far from the field. Its over a 1/4 of an inch. They are very quite. Maybe the armature bent when it fell. I think I will order a new armature. Hopefully I can get a armature that is adjustable.
@rockygrimjr.2542
@rockygrimjr.2542 7 лет назад
alviiiiin1988 Well I guess I will have to try the deeptooth blade. I have tried 2 Andis t blade and both sucked. I tried a Andis square Outliner II blade. It sucks as well. I zero gapped it which it was already pretty close when I bought it and it still sucks and is uncomfortable. I guess if the deeptooth doesn't hit well I will have it sharpened by a reputable sharpener. I think the biggest problem is blades just ain't as sharp as they use to be. The reason being is companies know people are going to zero gap them and play with the blades and they don't want to deal with people getting scalped.
@rockygrimjr.2542
@rockygrimjr.2542 7 лет назад
alviiiiin1988 So the deeptooth blade needs no modification out of the package, or do you make the cutting blade a little closer just not 0 gap? I always put a nice tilt on my blades when a gap them so they cut sharp but don't nick and become uncomfortable. The t blade and Outliner 2 blade work good at balding my head. I have dark black coarse hair. My beard lines aren't very sharp but it shaves my face well. However, on my 13 year old son he has blonde coarse hair which is long when I line him up in the front it is not sharp at all. Even though I cut it down along the front of the lineup to a number 1 it still don't hit hard.
@rockygrimjr.2542
@rockygrimjr.2542 7 лет назад
becominglikeminded I agree they all produce the same power. However, if you have a T Outliner that isn't tuned very good where the armature is too far from the magnetic motor it is going to need adjustment or its going to be weaker right? Whether this be from bad tuning from the factory or sloppiness from wear over time. I don't believe that modifying the case improves power or decreases heat that much. One thing it definitely does is increases vision particularly when cutting the rounded temple area of a lineup.

Pull them fresh styliner twos out the box zero gap emm turn emm on turn the power screw til the top blade sit in the middle of the bottom blade take the blades back off and turn the tension screw to the right to tighten the blades and make them hug together closer when you put the blades back on turn on the trimmers if the blades are too far to the right don’t touch the power screw just yet you set that already just loosen the tension but turning the tension screw just a little does a lot my tension screw super tight the tighter you blades hug together the sharper the line will be when you hold a dull pair of scissors that wont cut you squeeze them so your thumb pushes to the right and your pointer finger pulls the bottom of the scissors to the left so they cut sharper thats what the tension screw is for the tighter the better if you tighten it too much the top blade will stay to the right and wont cut andis blades start from the left or middle if your top blade sits all the way to the left corner you have way more room to turn your trimmers power up if the top blade sits in the middle your trimmers are at peek power if the top blade sits to the right corner they wont cut they should be now set
