As the owner of a X-T4 I was admittedly a Fuji Fan Boy (it’s an illness to be sure) but I procured the X-PRO3 last year for the same exact reason, because I enjoy the experience of the quasi-rangefinder as well as the look and feel of the camera. It calls me from the shelf like the siren song, tempting me to go out and shoot something! Cheers to you and your pro sandwich. 🥪
The 27mm "pancake" lens is probably my favorite "walk-about" lens. That 40mm-equivalent view seems to be my sweet spot. It's what ends up on my X-Pro2 probably close to 90% of the time, as I use that body mainly for what you seem to be describing: just going out and capturing whatever catches my eye.
@@calebbohrer3757 I've not had a problem, though might be tight if wearing winter gloves. My only complaint in that regard is that if you happen to accidentally twist it over to the Auto setting, you then have to press on the little red button to unlock it to go back to a manual setting.
The 40-ish mm focal length might seem a bit odd at first or if someone’s never used it before, but once you get used to it, it’s a fantastic length! I often use a 43mm lens (FF) and it’s awesome that it’s tight in framing yet it’s still wide enough to leave environment open. I’m hoping to try this Fuji 27mm sometime and see how similar it is to my 43mm. Is the AF really that bad as people make it out to be on the 27mm?
@@calebbohrer3757 you can control the aperture SLR style with the front control dial if you put the aperture ring on the lens into "Auto", Fuji really did a fantastic job at catering to all shooting styles imo
The thing I like about the XPro cameras is that they, and the small Fuji primes, are the ideal size, weight and shape for those casual 'wandering about taking pictures' outings, but with pretty much no compromises on image quality.
And also no compromise on flexibility. You can *still* put a Superzoom lens on if you want. Got myself a Xpro2 in 2019 and I absolutely love that camera
That’s why I bought the XPro1, I had a Canon 7D/100-400 plus the 10-20 Sigma, 17-55/2.8 Canon and the 105/2.8 Sigma macro. The weight of my kit with a steel tripod was terrible and I wasn’t taking the camera out of the bag on family outings. So, I bought into the Fuji X-Pro1 with the 18/2, 35/1.4 and later the 56/1.2. Together in a messenger bag it weighed virtually nothing, I later added the Manfrotto BeFree carbon fibre tripod and an X-T1 and family trips were transformed and nearly 10 years later I still have the same set up. My other kit now consists of an R6 with the 500/4 but I still don’t feel my older Fuji kit has any shortcomings IQ wise.
I use the X-Pro3 professionally including weddings. There is something special about the OVF and being able to see what is and what is not in your composition. Additionally, when photographing people it’s much more pleasant and less intimidating being photographed by this camera. I hope Fujifilm continues this design with the new 40MP sensor.
I'm considering going back to street photography. My full frame mirrorless is great feature-wise, but it's not much smaller than the old bulky DSLRs... These days I gravitate towards small and light for "fun assignments" and casual shots. Love a film point and shoot for that. Would the X-Pro3 (with say 23mm f2) fit comfortably in the pocket of a jacket?
James, I don't mind gear-centered videos when the photographer can take great photos, which you definitely can. A shocking number of photography channels on RU-vid where the actual photographs are trash. Thanks for all the great content.
My favorite camera ever. I love the process of taking photos but don't care much for post-processing them. With X-Pro 3 I can still get the kinds of stylized results that I want. And the ergonomics are just perfect for me.
Downside being that trying to buy anything used from them is pretty much impossible because people are now charging too much for these cameras. Prepare to hunt for a while to get a decent deal on any ok used fuji camera at this point.
@@tosvus I agree. There's a lot of artificial inflation in prices in photography in general these days. Film, film cameras, digital cameras (DSLR or Mirrorless) are all experiencing unreasonable pricing. 🤷
I use an X-Pro2 with two primes (18mm f2 & 35mm f1.4). I really haven't a bad word to say about it. I'd go so far as to say it is one of the most complete setups (for me and the way I shoot) I've owned. If you've the time and the inclination, try out some of the Fuji recipes, very worthwhile!
James. Really like your work and always entertaining. Am I missing something? As you point the video around I'm seeing great saturated colours and images. The moon looks great and the clouds nice and fluffy. Then you take the shot and they look washed out and like old 35mm film. Was that the aim, looking retro? Sorry, I hate being negative but I think it might be I missed something. Was it to show straight from camera images with no editing? Still enjoyed the video. Brighton used to be our go to place after parties when I was a Teen.
I don’t know about matching the image quality of your Sony but those shots of Brighton look beautiful. Don’t know how you post process but they remind me of what I love about Portra - clean, clear, beautiful colour and somehow relaxing on the eye (not too saturated or contrasty - yet still ‘rich’ - in a way many digital images seem to be).
Nice choice of buying a Fuji. 🙌 But please don’t call it just rangefinder. It’s a OVF that looks like a rangefinder but has no rangefinder focusing system. You can call it rangefinder style camera. Keep up the good work.
@@CianMcsweeney Yes that would be really cool but won't happen since a rangefinder needs calibration and fuji probably isn't interested in having additional costs due to that.
@@christopherrodriguez7223 I actually didn't have to send it in at all because I thought of a way to work around the error. Now I'm waiting for a firmware update and hope that this solves the problem. 😅
@@TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel yeah, that's why I'm thinking that maybe the way they could/should go is to try and provide a better digital simulation of the rangefinder patch within the OVF, could basically be done entirely in software without needing additional expensive hardware. The main problem right now with manually focusing using the OVF on the x-pro is that you need to look at the evf patch on the lower right side, taking your eye away from the center of the frame. If they could use the OLED used for the Ovf's heads up display to superimpose a split image on the focus point then you'd be 90% of the way to emulating a full rangefinder experience
I recently picked up an X-Pro 3 and it is exactly what I needed to fall back in love with photography and regain some focus in my pursuit of making photographs. I only post on Instagram currently so grabbing the JPEGs straight from the camera and posting with no edits is such a quick and easy process.
Completely and utterly agree with the theory. Unfortunately I picked up an X-Pro3 and realised that ~70% of my need for an EDC/Smaller camera is filming/photographing my kiddo. And to do that I didn't quite realise how much I used the screen. Absolutely adore the x-pro3 but just not for me. Hopefully (selfishly) the x-Pro4 returns to the conventional screen and I'll upgrade from my x-e4 straight away. Currently use that as my EDC with the 18f2 and 27f2.8. Perfect.
There's a 50/50 chance that the photographer at 6:00 was Gordon Laing doing a gear test. That's his usual spot. Fuji US still lists the X-Pro 3 but it's out of stock there, as well as B&H. I wonder if it's a supply chain issue. There's nothing but speculation out there; no substance.
Lovely light in Brighton that morning, but a lot of your photos from the X-Pro3 look overexposed and flat to me. The sky has just completely gone in most of them. You've got a superb glow from the sunrise but it's completely lost in the final image. Were they straight out of camera JPEGs or have they been edited?
To be honest, I liked the lighting in the GoPro video more than the results of the Fuji camera shots. The Fuji shots look blown out in the highlights and kind of washed out. There was much more dynamic range in the GoPro video at the time you took the shots. Do you find this as well? Did you choose to pseudo wash out the images, or are these RAW images you're showing?
got the X-Pro3 and didn't really enjoy it that much... mainly because i prefer the OVF in the X-Pro2... which is my favorite camera... closely followed by the X-Pro1 (which i think the X-Trans1 still has the nicest colors ever made on a digital sensor) what makes me enjoy the X-Pro line so much is that it is a photo first camera.... everyone else makes cameras these days that are video first with photography as an afterthought... Sony being the biggest offender.... i don't need lightning fast autofocus or 1000k Video resolution... i need a camera that doesn't get in the way of me shooting... i don't want to go through 15 menus to change aperture... i don't want to fiddle with useless autofocus settings... i want to press the shutter and the camera takes a picture... Fuji cameras (Exclusing their PSAM dial cameras) do exactly that... and for photography it's the X-Pro line... they're just enjoyable... they look nice they feel nice they're light and the lenses are perfect... what else could you want as a photographer? And i very much enjoy that they're APS-C... i shoot ultrawide rarely... and the 90&56mm or the viltrox 85&75mm offer all the bokeh you could ever want... and when i need to shoot something tele... i don't need 3 people holding the lens because it's so heavy... the world needs more Photo first cameras... sadly other than Pentax/Ricoh and Fuji (and they're also big offenders) it's always video first on mirrorless... hopefully there will be an X-Pro4 soon
Next time you feel urge to spend money for fun try Pentax KP (or K-3 Mk III if you want to spent more) and 20-40mm Limited. KP is no longer produced but should be available new somewhere on amazon and if not there is a ton of used ones. You will have interesting time with real pentaprism DSLR and most funny lens I personally ever used. Only prime zoom I ever got into my hands (I know it sounds silly). Plus both are weathersealed and build like tanks.
I almost never comment and haven't subscribed to anyone in what feels like years on RU-vid. While looking into pocketable travel cameras I came across your channel and I just wanted to say, your content is incredible refreshing. So much content on RU-vid in the camera genre is basically like reading a spec sheet on steroids or is a glitzy portfolio or sales pitch of the creator. Already making my way through some of your back catalogue of content, definitely inspiring. Thank you!
Since you like your Ricoh and you want weather protection and fun maybe have your friends at MPB send you a Pentax KP or K-70 and a couple of weather resistant lenses. I realize a PRO might be heckled for using an old-fashioned DSLR. Yet, if you bought them used it would half the price of the fancy ones. They also are cold weather compatible which might be important if you were to go to Antartica or somewhere. Anyway, you would get an understanding of how we peasants live. 😁
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the X-Mount Voightlander 35mm f/1.2 lens. The 27mm you use here is great for a pancake lens, but I was much more inspired by the Voightlander and ended up selling my 27mm because of it. I'm enjoying the 35mm (50mm FF) focal length, character, and depth a little more. I've also enjoyed going back to a manual focus lens as long as I'm not working on something absolutely requiring auto-focus. As always, loving the videos!
It's a great combo, very tactile. Wide open it's silly soft, 35/1.4 far better, but from f2 it's pretty good. Really good to focus with the yellow peaking. I love it, hoping Voigtlander follow up with something around 60mm...
Just got mine a few days ago. Was surprised to find out the day after I got it that Fuji discontinued it. There’s still no official update of an xpro 4 so let us enjoy our possible future Classic xpro 3 camera. Even if it’s a few years older, I would have never known. The processor is fantastic. I decided on the 23mm f2 fujinon r wr and couldn’t be happier. It’s the same length and aperture as my Leica Summicron 23mm f2, but focuses much closer, is weather sealed, etc. really enjoying the camera so far. Sadly, the Leica TL2 has just been sitting in its bag ever since the Fuji arrived. I started photography in the film era and this xpro 3 digital cam is the closest thing I’ve used yet to take me back to the experience of shooting a film camera.
It's kind of impossible to find an X100V or an XPro3 which is probably a good thing because I've been lusting after both cameras and I shouldn't spend the money. If they or their successors come back in stock I really don't know which I would choose....maybe the X100V since I don't really want a second interchangeable lens system sucking my wallet dry. But damn, that XPro3 looks so nice....
Fuji is is fun for those who love the process of taking pictures as much as the outcome .. x100v the next one? Or perhaps film photography? Have fun, mate 🎉
So many of the Fuji X-mount cameras fall into the category of "fun to shoot", you almost can't go wrong.... (I'd probably give the X-An and X-Mn a miss though).
Bought it used, shot with it and I hated it. Sold it for a small profit and bought an X-Pro2. Couldn't be happier. The '2 is about 90-95% the camera that the '3 is IMO for half the price used.
The pictures shared, were they straight out of camera or processed? I guess what I'm trying to ask is did you just use the film simulations in the camera, and if so which is currently your favourite? I've been eyeing up getting a 2nd hand Fujifilm for a while now, but I've also been experimenting with trying to simulate Fujifilm simulations on my Sony with varying results
Fuji is definitely a great compliment to Sony! That's my combo. XE-4 for fun and around town and A7ii for the heavier work (needs upgrading soon lol). The analog nature of the fuji is great. Really debating on jumping to the XT5.
I am debating the XT5 as well. Coming from a Sony A7ii (which I plan on keeping). I am up in the air whether to get a smaller Sony body or go for a Fuji for travel.
@@DJKISSchitown Fuji is great so far! Just be aware there aren’t as many custom buttons vs the a7ii. Can be a little tricky getting used to for some ppl.
I remember when the first X-Pro came out, and it really intrigued me at the time. Unfortunately I didn’t (and still don’t) have the disposable income to try it out. I’d still like to try a Fuji camera at some point. I’ve heard their colors are wonderful.
They are! I love film having grown up with it and tried and struggled with digital for so long, trying all sorts and wasting money stupidly. I have now moved from Leica via Canon and Sony to Fuji (an XT2 first then an XH1 at 1/3 new price for a mint copy) and VERY happy I did.
a very flimsy test or whatever. Sorry. I am nearly always happy with any camera! Smaller=better. I don't believe one word about larger megapixels. It's been the sales pitch of every magician and snake oil! Make prints, yes! Not barn sized. 20x30 maybe bit bigger. Where you gonna hang em?
just for the record : the X-Pro 3 is a nice camera, but it's super overpriced if you comapre it to cameras in that price range. Even looking at Fujifilm stuff, the X-T4 is generally a good 500 bucks cheaper than the X-Pro 3 used, while having tremendously better specs. You don't have the OVF but in my opinion that's not really the biggest deal. If youw ant the OVF though, there's a camera that might be a lot closer to an actual okay price range, and that's the X-Pro 2. Image quality is basically the same, you have kind of similar autofocus as well. The video are lower, you can't shoot 4K with it, but to be perfectly honesy, I don't think I'd shoot serious video with the X-Pro 3, and for non serious video, 1080p is more than good enough just food for thoughts !
I bought my X Pro 3 for my trip in Amsterdam. It’s ongoing as I am typing this. The camera has amazed me. I bought it because I didn’t want to carry my heavy 5D iii and I felt it would grab too much attention towards me that will make the photos look inauthentic. I got the X Pro 3 Simple for the fact that the screen was hidden. I loved that. I wanted to be immersed in the city, not fidgeting with my camera. My eyes are the viewfinder, I just use the optical viewfinder to frame what I see. It’s beautiful, simple, elegant. At night I unload the photos and wrestle with them in Lightroom. Such a pleasure wouldn’t have been felt with my 5D, because they come out not needing much editing. Whoever made this camera has balls to be brave to actually make it in a world where most people won’t care. It’s a daring camera made by daring people and it encourages me to be daring to complete the chain. It withstood heavy rains and storms with me. I went during harsh conditions because that’s what a person with this camera does, nothing stops it so nothing should stop the photographer. I finally feel like a kid with my cheap toy camera again, but this one is much more of a beast in every way and shape.
Hello, I’m about to get the x-pro 3 for a good price. And I see you got the 5D iii l. Which image quality is better out these two cameras? As I was thinking to get a 5D iii due to its price approximately 1/3 x-pro price. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the little comment about the rangefinder field of view feature - I think I learned that once - but forgot. But to be honest, I’m not certain if it would benefit me - oh, and by the way (I’m rambling, and not even dressed for it) - why do all these styles of camera have the viewfinder on the left side of the body? I use my left eye - isn’t there some major pros/cons of eye position? I shoot with a Fuji XT-4 (and Xt-1) and I like the look of the X-Pro 3 and the illusion X100V but this viewfinder thing bugs me - but that odd rear body no LCD job on the X-Pro 3 would be a massive hurdle for me.
Your accountant must be having a fit. I’ve been feeling the same about my RIII and the 24mm. I want something…fun. I’m thinking of buying the x-pro3 and the 23mm f2.
Absolutely agree! I actually bought a 5D classic for the colors as well as the 1DX. So much fun to shoot. I’ll dab into Fuji because they are also fun and unique colors.
Get the xf60! everyone hates it so it's usually pretty cheap on eBay. Absolute sleeeeeeper of a lens. Not a real macro and the autofocus is not great. IQ is bonkers, a true Swiss Army penknife, might be my favourite lens...
James, do you use any of the Fuji film simulations or work only from the RAW? I always have the RAW files available but I love using Eterna for color jpegs and Black & White with the Red filter for monochrome jpegs.
there is just something about fujifilm :) I have an x-t2 as my first camera, and i will never settle for any other brand. Neither am i professional, just hobbyist. just simply love fujifilm for its design , colors, simulations, price/weight/quality/ and SHARPNESS.
For a Fuji camera, the xpro3 is Pro line (and I’m sure for other brands and models too): Titanium built, weather sealed, dual card slot, metal top dials (not plastic like the x-t5), mechanical shutter speed up to 1/8000 (a dream for Leica 😅)… and up to 32000 for electronic shutter. Specs wise, it looks pretty Pro to me when looking to the options on this rangefinder league.
Wonderful compositions. But, what is it with UK-based RU-vid Photographers and the constant apologizing about gear videos? You, Heaton, Danson, Gibbs (he's Canadian, but it's the same place, except the beer isn't as good), Hardcastle (a transplanted Brit with fart jokes), and on and on constantly apologizing? Embrace it; you're all Nerds like the rest of us, admit it.
I'm a British-born Canadian (like Gibbs and Hardcastle --until he moved into a church in NS-- I grow moss on Vancouver Island). I unapologetically make gear videos. Photography relies on gear to exist. Finger painting on cave walls is minimalist.
Rangefinder.......look alike maybe? Nice camera no doubt. I shoot Fujifilm X-T3 & 5. I also have a Leica M10 and I've just purchased a Zorki 4K film camera. Both of these are true rangefinders via the focusing mechanisms. I'm sure you know this anyway, however It was nice to hear how much you enjoyed your experience with the X-Pro 3. Great videos keep e'm coming.
Now you already bought a new camera... Again, haha. But have you looked into the new Om-5 from OM System? I mean we're all hoping for a new Pen-F but... the OM-5 is rather nice :)
This is the most fun and beautiful camera I used. Looks great, holds great, lenses are great. Sometimes I miss a screen for vertical shots and for when taking pictures very close to myself. However I learned to hip fire without looking.
Love my X-pro 3, was the color grading based off of one of the sims? I shoot raw+jpg but it can be nice to let the JPGs preview a nice flavor of intent even if I’m going to manually edit the RAWs when done. Gorgeous Photography!
I do own an XPro3, I hope I don't have the LCD ribbon failure problem that some people report. It will be interesting to see if there is an XPro4, and how they address this ribbon failure problem....and of course if they will take care of XPro3 owners...so far people seem to have to pay for the repair.
Don’t think the XPRO 3 is out of production yet. I await the XPRO4. Three things. As you mentioned, the LCD screen on the outside is useless. Fuji has to do something about that. Next, is the XPRO4 we’ll have to do something about that silly exterior LCD screen. Finally and this is what I look forward to the most, is IBIS. My guess is theXPRO 4 is going to receive an IBIS unit not as robust as the XPRO5. Any IBIS will be welcomed by me. Smaller and lighter is the X100V. Try finding one of them. It too is on back order. I also expect to see these upgrades in the VI. More can be expected. Enjoy your new XPRO4. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Honestly I had the privilege to use all 3 X-Pro Lineups I kept my X-Pro1 and changed out to the X-T4 (got it for 800 so was compelling enough to not go for the 5) Honestly the OVF is just a gimmick (at least to me) UNLESS you use 23mm or 35mm lenses only on the X-Pros (I used 27mm on the X-Pro2 and it felt... awkward? in terms of framing cuz the frame lines look a smidge tiny) Compounding the fact that the X-pro3 removed the viewfinder magnification from 0.36x to 0.60x and replaced with a 0.52x, it was even more jarring Meanwhile when I changed to the X-T4, the IBIS just made losing the OVF more than worth it. Sure it's definitely heavier and thicker which is one thing I sure as hell miss but I have the X-Pro1 still so it's not a complete loss. Besides Classic Neg is still on the X-T4 so if anything I gained the privilege of IBIS and arguably better ergonomics to use bigger lenses. (also being able to use the screen on the tripod is something I can't believe i have to mention given the screen design of the Xpro3) I still keep my X-pro1 because the first gen xtrans sensor just renders colours somewhat differently that words can't describe it. Maybe the X-Pro lost its magic, or maybe it evolved beyond what I found it nice about. It's still one pretty (expensive!) camera
Not a gear channel? LOL I went back to your video list on the channel - 80%+ videos are titled around gear choices. BTW, it's NOT a rangefinder camera. The word you're looking for is VIEWFINDER camera, not rangefinder camera.
Man, first timer here... your videos are just like any other RU-vidr... "why buy....", "this camera in that year", bla bla... BUT I really find your photos to be good, a thing that many other great RU-vidrs are lucking of (according to my opinion at least)... I felt absolutely connected with your shots in this video! nice job! Did you shoot only with that lens? Is it the 27mm, isn't it? did you crop some of the photos? thanks in advance... Oh.. almost forgot, I've appreciated the humor as well
Why not buy one........................................... I purchase an XPro3 two months ago and it is a great little camera to use. I have the 16, 23 and 35mm lens and this alongside the size of lens/camera gives me so much flexibility. i use large body canon and sony camera for my work and so the XPro 3 was purchased as my personal camera, strictly not to be used for work at all.
Stop it; stop it, the Fujifilm X-Pro 3 is not a rangefinder…you’ll have the Leica fanboys In apoplexy calling it a rangefinder 🥸 I once owned the X-Pro 1… my first Fuji
James, the X-Pro3 is my all-time favourite camera from Fujifilm. I've owned the X, X-E, X-T, and X-H series cameras and with the X-Pro3 they got it right. I'm mostly a street, documentary, and reportage photography who every now and then does some portrait work. The X-Pro3 fits nicely with my Leica M240 kit because I can use my M mount lenses on both cameras, with an adapter of course for the X-Pro3. Lastly, the X-Pro3 is NOT a rangefinder. It's a regular mirrorless camera with an EVF but also has an OVF to mimic a rangefinder. The only companies making actual mirrorless rangefinders are Leica and the French company Pixii. Enjoy your X-Pro3, it's a great camera and pairs up nicely with any of the digital Leica M's in your kit.
I like the Fuji Pro 3. Something lighter, Olympus Pen F 12 to 45 Pro lens ( not weather proof, darn) more compact though. I wish they made a Pen f mk 2 which was as water proof as the new TG7. Ricoh has a WG 7 more megapixels. It is weather proof.
Stop reading my mind!!! I started with Sony and then decided to buy a Ricoh GR3x and I was just talking to a friend yesterday about moving to Fuji! But my poor wallet 😂😂😂😢😢😢
Who am I to judge your life decisions. But you do seem a bit lost since you left m43.... They do have full frame cameras, you know. With PDAF even. But anyway, I will not deny that Fuji's X-pro cameras are interesting. Similar reason why I bought an Olympus body, besides my Panasonic ones. The other option would have been a Fuji, but I would have to buy a lens as well.
Before watching the video, I smiled and thought ... this is what happens when you have Sony kit. All good and brilliant IQ, but a little joyless to use. Hence me also owning a GR3, XE3, and EP5 with Viewfinder and not wanting to flog my S1 and manual focus lenses.
The Fuji is still called ‘Pro’ as on release it was their pro body. It’s been so successful why would they kill it off and rename it……………? I had one early on, it’s AF was far from pro, in fact it was diabolical. I actually retired it at one point, I couldn’t get the auto focus reliable for no amount of effort. I posted a shot on Photography On The Net at the time, and some idiot Fuji fanboy replied ‘user error’. I had a flower in my garden, I went underneath it and shot against a bright blue sky and it missed focus. I literally nearly launched it over my fence. I got it back out 3/4 years later after reading how some guy was working around its shortcomings and never looked back. I’d always loved the IQ, I posted on POTN at the time that I thought it equalled the 5D3 and got laughed at. Then the X-T1 came out and Canon FF shooters started to buy into the system, by the time the X-T2 was launched there was a mass exodus. That rekindled the X-Pro love and the rest as they say is history. I’d love to own the XP3, it’s the best looking body that’s affordable. I just can’t justify it as I have the recent R6. If the animal AF matched the R bodies I would have bought one instead, Fuji aren’t quite there yet. I loved the images you got from it in this VLOG 👍👍👍
It's a big, full-featured camera in a small package with a combined LCD/optical viewfinder, with superimposed, zoomable, live parallax-adjusting framelines and AF. What's not to like?
Hi, James! May I ask do you use film simulation when you took the photo which showed in the 4:14 of video? And how you feel about the film simulation of this camera, I’m really interested in the small screen on the back.
Hi,,good video, i choosing buy a camera for street and some portraits,,, i am between fuji xpro3 or 2,,, xe4 or panasonic gx9? wich you consider to have the best image quality and material buits? Thanks!
I followed you into the Sony gear for similar reasons, from a smaller sensor system. You know they make this smaller sensor system right? I think it's called Micro Four Thirds. I am told they even have phase detect auto focus... You could switch to that system for a few years and then switch back to boring Full frame -oh wait you already did that. I absolutely will not follow you into a fun range finder.... You 've cost me too much money already. 😂Yeah I had Lumix and shitloads of lens, then an OM-1, and more lenses and sold it all and bought the Sony A7rv...and.... a bunch lens. Love your videos whether they be gear photography or tangent.
The x-pro3 is not a rangefinder camera. It only looks like one cosmetically. It focuses just like any other AF system. It just has an optical viewfinder which is not exclusive to a rangefinder.
I would love to see how you edited these images. Particularly the ones that you shot towards the sun. Are you bracketing? Shooting RAW or Fuji sims? Fuji Jpegs are quite good.
generally, when shooting towards the sun, expose for the highlights in camera, then bring up the shadows with the appropriate slider in lightroom/capture one after. Modern cameras (including this one) are great at retaining detail in the dark/underexposed parts of the scene, they aren't so good at retaining information in the bright/overexposed parts. You can expose for this manually with iso/shutter etc. or you can switch the cameras metering mode to "spot" and aim the Autofocus spot at the bright part of the scene(in this case the sun)
I've recently, after a long time off, gotten back into photography. I bought a Canon 5D mkii before my first child and loved it. The more children I had the less I wanted to lug around a big, heavy full frame beast, so it gathered dust for years. I finally traded it in with the lenses and bought a Fuji xt30ii yesterday - it's so small and light. I wish I'd done it years ago!
Fuji, give me an xpro 4 with a better viewfinder, a well thought articulated screen, no gimmicky back screen, better resolution, stabilisation, true separated top dials and clickable front wheel, maybe couple more custom buttons just and take back my xpro3.
To go along with the comment about the "Pro" terminology, and at the risk of aggravating you by bringing up tripods tripods, I'm concerned to see some tripods advertised as "digital tripods" or "digital camera tripods"! This means I had to choose carefully as I wanted one suitable for both my digital and film cameras... I'm waiting for someone to come up with a design tailored to those of us in the Southern Hemisphere. Use your imagination. Did I say how much I hate the word "analogue" being applied to film photography? 🙂
Im always annoyed that we dont have anything like mpb or similar foto centric used gear sites in my country…. Ok else my bank account would be annoyed from me constantly spending on new gear 🤣
