This is a tricky one though - apparently because of euro 5 the engine is tuned for lots of back pressure from the exhaust, so if you fit something free flowing it won't run so well. I'm interested to see what will come to the aftermarket though...

I think this is going to be the most interesting part of this engine. Rip the euro 5 off, high flow air box, and a tune and I wouldn't be surprised to see rwhp gains of 10+. Respring the forks for your weight and I think at that point it will be an excellent everyday bike o ride the hell out of.

I think you've made a very wise choice dude. The bike looks great and I think its gonna carve a huge chunk of the beginner / middle weight category. Looks miles better than the MT07 and CB and for 7.k you get Triumph quality and reliability. Cant wait to see your future vids. I remember watching your Kawi ER6 videos way back! Cool to see a nice guys channel grow bigger!

Not to mention third world markets too! I really hope it’s going to be priced under the CB650R in my market, I’m gonna be so sad if it’s getting sold over an MT-09 (which is $650 over a CB650R, and, get this, $2000 over a Z900 (yes a Z900 is cheaper than a CB650)). I’m looking forward to a Trident as my second and possibly last bike.

I’ve ordered the matte black over here in the States! Cant wait. Could you talk a little about the matte tank finish? I think it’s the best looking of the new colors and have committed to it ,however, I’ve heard a couple haters talking about how “cheap” it looks in person. Although it shows on camera extremely well! I'm really tempted by one for my commute in London. The thing thats stopping me is requiring relatively secure luggage. I need to bring stuff with me daily plus good security for when it's locked up during the working day. I'll wait and see what the likes of givi come up with that hopefully doesn't ruin the bikes good looks. Looking forward to seeing more on your new bike

Congratulations. It is a nice looking, light, fun bike to ride. I live in Paris and thought about trading in my Ducati Scrambler for one of these but ended up going for the Tiger 900 GT Pro. I just wanted that extra protection for longer rides and motorways. Have fun and stay safe.

congrats... I am divided between this one new or a second hand Speed Twin... The looks and spec sheet favors the twin, but the value for the money is certainly here. in this bike, for my kind of riding... mainly commuting. The only gripe I can see with this bike is panniers or saddle bags to take a weekend's off clothing and toothbrush, or even your camera stuff.

I'd go for the Speed Twin for commuting tbh - the torque away from a standstill is awesome. That's why I bought the Street Twin, and the Speed Twin is even better

congrats bob, that bike is definately the nicest looking in the segment. i am going to buy a 2018 cb 650f though. here in the u.s. it is pretty easy to find leftovers still, and that means great savings!!

Probably not - the point of the Trident is to bring their triples down to a lower price point. The Street Triple is already there for more power and spec. Although I agree with you that Street Triple performance in the Trident styling would be great

I am still not sure about this model. I really like your current bike. I like that it is a triple engine since I own an mt09 and the price is solid. Looking forward to the reviews. The scrambler 1200 is the triumph model to buy if you already have a street bike in my opinion.

Subscribed! This bike checks all my boxes and will be my return to motorcycling after a 20 year absence. I’ve read the clutch lever is not adjustable and is a long reach, any opinion? Maybe the aftermarket will address this and a sweet sounding exhaust.

You don't have to put a bike through college. Don't have to worry of the bike gets pregnant or gets some other bike pregnant, don't have to worry about the bike missbehaving, vandalizing, doing drugs, drinking, etc. Bikes=1000, babies=0. Just kidding. My personal opinion.

So you wanted an expensive 947 cc bike but now your going to get a budget 675 ? How does that make sense ? Shouldn’t you be going for an xsr900 or Honda cb1000r

I am going look at the xsr900 as a possibility but it is a 3rd bike so it’s not that I need anything it’s just what I find appealing and I’m interested in... not interested in a 100..

Interesting commentary. Man. I was going to go with the trident. But the street twin really grabs me. The looks. The more refined finish. And the 900 cc and of course the sound. Do you still have your twin? If not I’m sure you miss it. The new cobalt blue looks fantastic. Saw it int the dealership today. Pretty convinced that will be my first bike. Will test ride it when weather gets better. Will test the trident as well. But pretty sure I’m going with the twin.

Excellent video and I love your passion, but I always get a kick out of my cousins across the pond and their appreciation of small displacement bikes. To me, anything less than a liter is just a novelty. Although I must confess my oldest bike is a Kawasaki 650 which I keep for nostalgic reasons and a method of keeping excess cash under control. Looking forward to seeing more about this acquisition.

Hey, Great video. Waiting for this bike to be released in India. Can you please share details of ground clearance? Indian roads are filled with potholes and humps. Hence, bikes like Street Triple always tend to scrape their bottom part due to low ground clearance (130mm)

. I am considering the Trident as well. I am also considering the Royal Enfield 650, either the Continental GT or the interceptor. What do you think? I'm 61 inches tall, I don't want the bike to be too powerful because I want to be able to wring its neck. Is the Trident too powerful? I currently have a 2016 Suzuki GSX s1000f that is way too powerful, I have a Harley V-Rod which is very powerful, but its power delivery is glorious and very usable.

Nice one Rob, good colour combination, it should serve you well. Can you put matt protective film on the tank? As a your workhorse and everyday riding that paintwork will get scratched badly and no chance to polish the scuffs out. What do Triumph say? Just a thought....

Fowlers actually have their own range of maintenance products so I might see if they’ve got something for matt paint, but yes it’s cross my mind that it won’t stay like that for long otherwise 😂

I'm good with my '12 Tiger 800 (alloys). I do like this bike a lot though. And I like my Tiger overall more than my big block Triumphs 955 (3) and 1050 (1) because I can do light off road and I get to really wick it without going too fast.

I’m also 6’3” ( with longer than average legs per height) and I fit on it just fine. Absolutely no issues. Hope this helps.

Triumph Tiger Sport 1050cc ? Much taller bike. They're being discontinued (because of Euro 5) , so being sold off quite cheaply right now. The old stock have all probably been pre-registered, to escape the Jan 1st 2021 date.

Yep, a Speed Triple with a round headlight. Although I might go for a Speed Twin look alike with the new Speed Triple 1160cc engine. Not sure what they could call it. It wouldn't be a Speed Twin, coz of the triple engine, The Bonneville Speed Triple maybe !

I will be interested to watch your progress with this bike and how it shapes up day-to-day. I reckon the flexible triple engine will be great in the city. Wide service intervals will be useful. I have a feeling that this bike will get 'done to death on RU-vid', too. They are going to really sell. Maybe to me? That music does my head in.

Wasn't a problem for me on the launch, but some people said about that yes. I think the throttle is designed to be gentle though for easy town speed riding etc. It does liven up when you wrench on it

2 triumph one I had 3 days triumph took it back for knackered gear with 6 miles on the clock ,second speed twin was the most dangerous bike out of 50 I ever owned slowing down for a bend randomly cut out no abs not nice plus other faults never again make in u.k not thialand .

Trident feels a bit more refined. The triple is super smooth whereas the single in the husky is a little vibey and you feel it on longer rides

I’ve been looking for my first bike for months and have gone back and forth and changed my mind alot but I think this is in first place for me right now. Really love the look of this bike and think it’ll be plenty of bike for what I need

Take a demo ride on one! Triumph dealers are always accommodating, and they know this will be a first bike for a lot of people so that won’t be a problem 👍
