This is how I ended up with a GX. Fixing up a Lexus GX470 for one of our daily drivers. AKA Landcruiser Prado 120. These are a great foundation for an overland 'looking' project. Please reach out if you want to send me free parts! :D
I saw your workbench video and loved the organization of it; then I saw this video. We’re kindred spirits, I think! 😂😂 I just bought a 2007 Lexus GX470. I have big plans for it, but I have a golf cart project, woodworking projects, learning to use my 3D printer projects, my DJing business (still learning), my reaction videos, AND my full time job as a mental health therapist. 🤣🤣 (my adhd works overtime). Can’t wait to see what you have in store with the Lexus!
I bought one of these to bring down to Mexico. Found a 1-owner in outstanding condition with 305K miles on it. It has been the perfect truck for Baja. Had a brand new timing belt/water pump, thermostat, tires, and a bunch of other stuff but what sealed the deal was how well the original owner had babied the thing: The interior leather was in near showroom condition! Like, literally brand new. Now, they could have replaced the leather at some point but it is identical to the rear leather, which is certainly factory OEM. So, I'm inclined to believe it is either the original seating surfaces or a Lexus dealer replaced her front seats before she traded it in. Regardless, it had a 24 page CARFAX and she had basically been spending money on it every 8-9,000 miles since new. Suspension was replaced, transmission had been serviced every 120K miles, etc. I have no doubt I will get another 200K+ miles out of it, easily and few cars -- if any -- have every inspired the kind of confidence behind the wheel my GX470 does.
Sounds like you found a nice one! Yep, they are built different for sure. Its a difference you can feel when you drive it and when you work on them. Simple and built to last, which is why I was happy to go back.
