I just saw your College reaction video and I'm so happy for you! Rice is one of my dream schools and I recently went to a camp there! And I agree with everything you said, especially the class sizes, it can give you the opportunity to build better relationships with the professors and students and overall make it less stressful since I tend to freak out when I walk into a class of 50-100 kids . Hope you have fun at Rice!
im a senior rn now and im starting my applications and rice is my absolute dream school!! i honestly love your videos and i cant wait to see more of them :)
I completely fall in love with Rice. Your videos really give me many insights about Rice. and this fall i am going to apply for Rice as my ED choice and majoring in Econ which is the same as you!!! I really hope I could get in and meet u in Rice campus!!!!
You are always so happy and positive in your videos! You haven't failed yet? You know how to make videos, I don't. I and my family have never been to Texas, but I think of it as a Conservative State. UCLA is more ethnically & racially diverse than Rice, but Rice is a better school. [But UCLA is a very very good school too!] UCLA doesn't give financial help to NON California residents, so I removed UCLA from our list of choices. I think it would be better for my daughter if she went to UCLA. My daughter wants to go to Caltech, but I honestly don't know if she will get accepted there. Caltech is the # 1 hardest college to get accepted to. Rice would be my 3rd choice for her. USC and Stanford are my 1st and 2nd choices for her. MIT is my daughter's 2nd choice. But in reality, NM Tech is probably the most affordable for us because we live in New Mexico. But my daughter doesn't want to go to school in New Mexico. My daughter wants to be a Biomedical Engineer. My daughter finished her high school courses (actually unofficially graduated) but hasn't graduated yet, and is taking college courses for an Associates Degree in Engineering at San Juan College in Farmington, NM. She suppose to be starting the 11th grade this Fall 2021, but finished her high school courses and has been taking college courses since last semester. She already finished "Introduction to Engineering" and "Calculus 1". She'll graduate both in high school and at San Juan College in May 2023. She is extremely smart like you (but I think doesn't know how to make videos like you). She is 16 years old. Sorry for rambling on. I enjoy looking at your videos. There are an inspiration to me. I hope & pray my daughter will be successful like you (or better) in college. God bless you and your future!~
@@kingofpranks9142 I don't see what is condescending about my statement. Rice is an excellent school. I don't also mean to put down Stephanie Hu. She is smart, and shows an excellent character and personality in her videos. I and my daughter would like to know people like her. She is positive! I have found out something. Rice University will not accept my daughter's dual-credit college courses for my daughter's major at Rice. Meaning, they can be used as college electives, but my daughter will still be required to graduate in 4 years. My daughter is in the 11th grade of high school, and has already taken Calculus 1, Calculus 2, college based Physics 1, college based Chemistry 1, Introduction to Engineering, Computer Programming 1 (using C++), CAD (Computer Aided Design), English Composition 1, and English Composition 2. She is scheduled to take in the 12th grade of high school for Fall 2022: Statics, Dynamics, Calculus 3, Circuit Analysis 1. But if she were accepted to Rice, she would be required to take higher level math, higher level physics, higher lever chemistry, higher level computer science, higher level English, and higher level Physics, to make up for the College Freshman/Sophomore courses that she took while in high school. Many other colleges WILL NOT accept dual-credit college courses as transferable towards my daughter's degree in Engineering: USC, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Brown, Harvey Mudd, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon. But Stanford, MIT, Cornell, UPenn, UC schools (Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, etc.), CSU schools (CSULA, CSULB, etc.), colleges in New Mexico (UNM, NM Tech, NMSU, etc.), University of Texas at Austin, and ASU, WILL ACCEPT my daughters college courses while taken during high school, as transferable to their school, meaning that my daughter will take less time (about 2 years) to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in her Engineering specialty (Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.). My daughter has a high school gpa of 3.90 (with her dual-credit college courses), and with her dual-credit college courses, has a college gpa of 3.26. Without the dual-credit college courses, my daughter has a 4.00 gpa.
This is your video on why you chose Rice University. I would also like my daughter to go to Rice, but Rice has a thing against dual-credit college courses taken during high school, and in my daughter getting her 'Associates of Science Degree in Engineering' while in high school. So I think she can't chose Rice, even though it's an excellent school. It's the same with Harvard, Caltech, Harvey Mudd, Yale, Princeton, Johns Hopkins, and Carnegie Mellon. Those schools will not accept dual-credit college courses. My daughter Nikki will either have to start from the beginning, or take other advance courses to make up for her taking Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Physics 1, College Chemistry 1, Programming 1 (C++), CAD, College Freshman English, College Sophomore English, and other dual-credit college courses taken during high school. These schools will accept dual-credit college courses taken during high school: Stanford, MIT, Cal State Long Beach, UCLA, UC Berkeley, University of Texas at Austin, NM Tech, UNM (University of New Mexico), and NMSU (New Mexico State University). We are from Shiprock, New Mexico, and my daughter goes to San Juan College High School in Farmington, New Mexico. I'm not sure about USC yet. I can't get a hold of them through phone. My USC representative for New Mexico never picks up her USC phone when I call her.
Hi mam! I am applying to Rice University in the fall of 23. Still, I am confused about how to write an essay on the 2nd prompt(Based upon your exploration of Rice University, what elements of the Rice experience appeal to you?). What should be my approach regarding this prompt to create a good impression in the admission officers' eyes? Thanks in Advance, mam!
