Why I chose the 11 inch M4 iPad Pro

I like the 11 too. It’s easy throw in a briefcase, to read with, and of course to watch RU-vid videos with.

Just got the 11” M4 Pro base model with cellular. Best purchase in the last few years.

I still wish they would make the mini iPhone again! Also, I haven’t really watched demos of stage manager but your setup looked interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing! My use case isn’t too dissimilar from yours, though I work from home about 90% of the time. But for so many things, my M2 11inch iPad Pro is more than big enough. I do want to get more into using it for work as well as personal; since my employer is also in the Microsoft ecosystem, I think your channel could be helpful in that regard. I appreciate your insights!

I agree, often I think of the early computers like the original Mac, it had a low resolution 9” b&w screen and people loved that machine and used it for work no problem! High res 11” screens are luxurious by comparison! I’ve had the 2020 11” pro from 2020 and I’m going to be getting a newer one soon, definitely sticking with the 11” it’s perfect 👌

I went for the 13. Loving it.

I got a new 11 inch air to do a lot of similar stuff with. I’m starting a masters and wanted a workhorse, but also needed to replace my old one. I thought a 13 inch would just be too big for chilling in the evening or reading a magazine on. Glad you’re one of the few people who agree maybe not everyone needs 13!

Jill, thank you, I appreciate you sharing your use case with us, you give some very compelling reasons for an 11”. I’m going through that “justification” stage atm 😂. I do not have a personal lap top, but I as well have a WFH life and a company windows laptop. My life is spent starring at 3 screens, but I would like to get out more to coffee shops. I struggle with a single 14” laptop screen when I’m out and would greatly like to use the iPad as a second screen as well as the other things our family does in our deeply entrenched Apple ecosystem of a life. Decisions, decisions….

Same here. I had the 12.9inch previously and barely used it. This time I got the 11 inch Pro and it's fantastic.

First of all, I love your videos and your presenting style. I feel very cozy. I also thought about getting the 13 inch a lot, but ended up with the same size for the same reason as you. I believe that 11 inch is closer to what Steve Jobs had in mind when he designed the iPad and 13 inch is just too big for the things I love my iPad for. Now that I also have the smart Folio it adjust brings me joy to hold my hand and read the news or watch a podcast while cooking. I had the 13 inch for a few weeks. It just seemed to cumbersome on the sofa in bed or on the bus. I also agree with you when it comes to the iPhone. I wish they made the normal iPhone pro a little bit smaller and the max in between the sizes it has now. Having owned the 12 promax the 13 pro and 13 mini the 13 was by far, my favourite. And my jeans pockets favourite.

I have an 11 M1 pro and was considering upgrading to the 13 but I realised the 11 is a better for me because I often read books on my ipad if I can't find my kindle (which is way more often than it should be!)

l just bought an 11” iPad Pro 3 days ago like you l thought the 11” was the perfect size. The screen quality and audio are simply amazing!

I got the 11 inch iPad Pro because I have a 14 inch MacBook Pro and so when I need to do something on a big screen it also prolly means that it’s a task better done on a real computer.

I travel for work. 13 inch is too big. 11” is the clear winner for portability. Just used mine in the car (I was passenger) on the way home from shopping. It’s a bright sunny day - I’m soooo glad I got the nanoglass version.

I went for the 11 inch this year. I believe the M1 Pro 13 supported higher refresh rate compared to the smaller pro. I definitely prefer 11 now going forward. 😌👌

Omg I love 11” iPad Pro so much. Yes for all the reasons above, but I also play game and watch Netflix on it. I get rid of my laptop cos I hate how bulky it is to bring anywhere, yes, that includes MacBook Air. This iPad is so versatile it is my only on the go device as well as my only desktop device when connected to monitor. I live minimalist too which makes iPad Pro even more perfect for me.

I also love the iphone 13 mini! btw where did you get those iphone cases? On a second note, I own an M4 13" ipad pro. Just want to share my perspective: I love to read academic journals on it because the size is about the size of regular paper, love multitasking (bigger screen helps with that), I really like reading magazines, manga, and watching movies on that OLED panel! I also like to do some art and note taking as well. I wouldn't consider it laptop territory as I use it for what it is - a tablet that complements my MBA (side care is awesome). I also don't use the magic keyboard. Thanks for the video!

Good for you :). I experimented on all sizes. Last experiment was a tandem of iPad mini 6 and the iPad Pro 12.9. I realized I’m an 11” and a one iPad person. Some apps don’t sync right away and it drove me crazy. iPad mini would have been ok if it was a pro.

I think this will be my next iPad for several years. How is it for reading books compared to a Kindle or physical book? Thank you!! ❤

I have the iPad 12 inch and i have to say, i really really really hate the size tbh. But i had full intentions to have this replace my MacBook Pro and a laptop. Since the iPad OS is garbage w/ the keyboard/mouse setup, it was such a waste of money. I would’ve stuck with the 11 inch if i knew apple would virtually ditch the OS

I agree with you on every aspect of the 11 inch model. A tablet is only supposed to be a tablet. It’s the perfect size whether you’re on the go for portability or chilling on the couch at home watching videos or browsing. The 13 inch is definitely is laptop territory, ESPECIALLY AT THAT PRICE! If I wanted a 13 inch display I’d just buy a MacBook, you can do so much more with it, and its right about the same price.

I wish there were more reviews like yours and generally more RU-vid content like this. You use both the slimline case and Magic Keyboard I see. I am trialling that combination too for a similar windows companion use case. Do you find yourself carrying both the Magic Keyboard and folio cover around, or leave the Magic Keyboard at home if you know you will just be using the iPad for meeting notes?

Has anyone bought an iPad Pro for reading textbooks and academic papers, mostly in portrait mode? 11 vs 12.9 (13) for you?

Did you get base 256gb storage or 512gb? Also did you purchase the WiFi or cellular model?

Out of interest what is the monitor you’re using at 3:00? I use my iPad Pro w/ stage manager quite a bit but on a 3440x1440 ultrawide the app scaling feels off - Looks much better on your screen which I assume is a 4K or 5K display rather than standard HD resolution? I’ve been thinking of getting a new monitor, wanted to just get an iMac to use as an occasional Mac but on the newer ones they don’t let you use it as a monitor for iPads, Macs or Windows Laptops sadly.

I had an M1 iPad Pro 12.9 and then went went to an 11 M2 iPad Pro and miss the extra screen real estate.

13 inches is too big

I have a hard time believing your 2020 air is slow. for 99.9% of people, any previous ipad model is more than good enough for all their needs, which in your case seems like note taking and browsing.
