Great perspective from an actual Uni student, not a RU-vidr going to Uni. I struggle to find 'regular Jane/Joe' reviews of the tech I'm considering buying.
I will say as a nursing student, if you don’t have the financial support from family or can’t afford the expensive iPads def recommend a MacBook Air for school. A lot of ppl in my cohort ran into issues trying to use exam software via canvas, etc when it came to iPad use. I use both my MacBook and iPad but tend to use my iPad more due to it being lighter/more convenient to carry around from school, work, clinicals, home, etc. Also love the note taking and digital planning possibilities when it comes to the iPad. But as he stated, it really just depends on your preference and pockets mainly. Great vid!!!
Great talk, makes so much sense. M3 MacBook Air, Samsung Tab S9, 10th Gen 256gb iPad, no matter how tempting I couldn't trade in my iPad 10th because it's a consumption and Proceate learner device. I have way too much good stuff already. Best wishes in your Nursing journey. I'm disabled and all my nurses have been amazing, good career.
You make great points in this video. I’ve always had both a MacBook and iPad. But over time discovered that it was overkill for me. Purchased the 11 inch iPad Pro a few years ago and realized it was all I needed. My recent upgrade was based on then fact that I wanted more screen real estate so I’m now only using the 512gb 13inch M4 iPad Pro and Magic keyboard and it’s the perfect setup for my use case.
I agree, the Air is a much better deal. I have a Galaxy Tab that's 120hz and the M2 Macbook Air which is 60hz, and I have zero issues transitioning from the Tab to the Macbook. 120hz is of course nice but it is by no means a requirement.
I traded my iPad Pro 11inch 1st gen for the iPad Pro 11inch 4th gen. I'm getting more storage, the M2, and Lidar. All while still being able to use the Apple Pencil 2nd gen and the same Logitech case.
Besides photo and video editing (maybe even some of that) all the tasks you mentioned can be done on the 10th gen iPad. I personally didn't see any major incentive to get air/pro unless I wanted a bigger screen than the regular ipad...
I absolutely agree! My primary incentive was the Apple Pencil Pro and support for Apple Intelligence (because my iPhone 14 pro wouldn’t be able to support it 😭)
Sensible. I’m still running a 2018 iPad Pro. Every year I look at the new versions and wonder… but nope. I can’t justify dropping that wad of cash for a faster chip or refresh rates or OLED screen or… Fact is, I’d never see the difference. This old iPad is still faster than I need it to be for just about everything I do. Now, all bets are off when Apple starts rolling out their AI capabilities. Some of that stuff is going to need an M series chip to work. But it remains to be seen if I’d really have any need for the M specific capabilities. We’ll see in a few months.
Definitely hard to justify dropping so much for a few spec bumps…and like you said, you probably won’t even notice after a while. I’ve been happy with the display and performance of my M1 MacBook air-It does everything I need it too. So the M2 iPad Air is more than enough for my needs. It was also sensible for me to get the M2 iPad “Air” since my iPhone 14 “Pro” won’t be supporting the new AI features, haha!
Hi bro ! I am studying in first year undergraduate medical school in india ! Which product should I buy ipad air 13 inch or ipad pro 11 inch ? How was the ipad air for taking notes in medical school ?
Not me seeing this after ordering the 13” M4 iPad and being a nursing student while I have the 2022 iPad Pro 12.9” 😂 I’m just wasting money at this point
As a student, the pro features of the iPad mattered less to me than having a landscape camera + support for the Apple pencil pro. The 60hz display on my iPad doesn’t feel laggy/choppy at all. The 2 speakers is plenty. 4 speakers would really only be those wanting a more immersive movie watching experience, or something similar. And I don’t care about USB transfer speeds since my demanding work is done on my Mac, and I can use AirDrop to transfer between devices. Good question!
As someone who has ipad pro 2018, I would rather to upgrade to m2 pro, as I already have apple pencil. But, if I wouldn’t have any ipad, then I would go for 2024 models. Plus m2s are costs almost the samw
@@adriandiazofficialIf you’re going to school for nursing? Why do you need an Apple Pencil Pro? That for professional digital artists. An Apple Pencil gen 2 or even the Apple Pencil USB C is more than enough… So the only thing you really benefiting from with the M2 Air is the landscape camera over say an M2 iPad Pro.
To be honest the 60hz plus the touch id is a deal breaker to me. But instead of ipad pro m4, I was thinking to get the ipad pro m2. Saldy I think everyone has the same idea since in my country the price for ipad pro m2 rised significantly, while the m4 ipad received discounts. The gape between these two models only $75-125. Now I'm considering the M1 ipad pro. 😅
that you cannot tell a significant difference between your phone and ipad display is just mind boggling to me. Good for you, you can get cheaper apple stuff. But for everyone else it's the one thing that keeps us from buying anything that doesn't have a normal refresh rate display like their pro stuff.
Listen I need some advice, I just bought a m3 macbook air as an engineering student, but for taking math notes I would also like to take them on an ipad instead of on paper and I know just for taking notes I don't need a very powerful ipad and I also don't need the apple pencil pro the 2nd gen apple pencil is fine with me, I just don't know if I should get the m1 ipad pro or an older ipad pro or go with the ipad air 4 or 5, also I plan on keeping this ipad for the next 4 years at least and I am not sure if 64 GB which the base model ipad air 4 and 5 come with is enough, but the problem is the next storage tier they offer is 256 gb which is significantly more expensive yet I highly doubt I'll ever use that much storage just for taking math notes. I just bought my sister an M2 2024 Ipad air 13 inch so I will ask her in a couple of months how her experience has been, but if anyone has any advice or is a math/engineering/physics student please feel free to help me.
I bought an iPad Pro 12.9 2018. Still I can't extract all the power it's supposed to have. 99.99% of apps don't require more power than a regular iPad needs.
For gaming, I can definitely see that being more of a concern. I plan on getting an M4 Macbook Pro for my heavier loads n future gaming. That computer will easily last me 7+ years, so you might consider waiting for those too!
@@adriandiazofficial My bad should’ve prob mentioned mobile gaming, but it’s prob not just gaming the 120hz would be for, it’s just a smoother experience when taking notes and overall just using the ipad. (i’m used to a 120hz phone so i think it will feel slow to me).
@@HGAdam83124 Ah, I see. Well mobile gaming is not something I can speak to, but in terms of the overall notetaking/browsing experience… it feels VERY smooth. My iPhone is 120hz and it doesn’t bother me to use my iPad. But this is just my opinion, so if you are planning on making a purchasing decision, it will definitely be best to test them out in store, if possible! Wish you the best.
@@adriandiazofficial I’ll definitely try them out! I appreciate your response and will take it into account when purchasing :). Also what screen size do you use/recommend? I was thinking 13” because it’s closer to the size of a normal piece but i could also be too big, what do you think?
@@HGAdam83124Happy to help! My reason for getting the 11” was for the portability in-and-out of schools and eventually clinical sites when I do nursing/medical training. Everybody has a different opinion about what’s better. I thought I would get FOMO by not getting the 13”, but the 11” is perfect for my needs. However, if I did REPLACE my Macbook… I would have absolutely gotten the 13”. So if you have another computer, then getting an 11” might be a better option. But if this is going to be your main device to do everything, the 13” might do you better long-term. For mobile gaming, I could see the 13” providing a more pleasant gaming experience if you use a controller… but it might be too large if you’re only using your hands. I’m not sure about your characteristics, but I’m a relatively larger character. I’m 6ft tall and my hand-thumb to pinky tip-covers the entire length of my iPad screen when my fingers are spread out. So I typically prefer larger devices… but even for me, I thought the 13” was a pretty big boy 😅 Could I have gotten used to it? Absolutely. But the 11” provided way better ease of use when carrying it around, which I plan on doing a lot.
@@Spiderfish7 personal preference i suppose. i've been using the 2022 10th gen ipad which is 10.9' and am thinking of getting the 13' ipad air just because i felt like the 10th gen was a bit small
'Your choice' but my choice is still M4 Pro as my last iPad Pro was 2017, so time for a decent upgrade. Anyway, my wife's buying it for Christmas and Birthday :)
Honestly imo m2 chip was released 2 years ago. No way I’m paying full price for a two year old chip. I would just buy the iPad Air 5 if you’re on a budget. Even the iPad Pro m2 would be a better deal.
honestly I'd pick the m2 air too, and over the pro even if there's some instances where there is cheaper but that portrait camera is the reason that I'd said no, idc about 6phz because when it comes to gaming on an phone or tablet you will not notice that much things and if I do play hard games then what are PCs and laptops for, mini led is just a tiny bit better than LCD, the pencil pro features I prefer and just an good tablet, if you'd want to get cheap pro just don't go to the m2 pro and choose m1 there's no big difference in games. that is my opinion...
also 11" is enough I think 13" is too big, BTW I also think if you need more storage in your iPad don't go for an subscription for iCloud instead use the free 10gb if you are just not satisfied with storage or buy an USB with 128gb (or whatever storage you need) with and USB c to add card adapter you will only pay once and it'll do the job with storing files and dragging them in into an computer.
