This was another great video, Gym. Thanks for this. It brings up some great points about why someone should consider UOAlive instead of other servers. The popularity of the free shards and content creators like yourself generate a lot of attention for the game. For example, I forgot about UO until I saw a video advertisement for another server. After joining, I quickly remembered what I loved about the original UO and what I hated about it because even though the free shard was populated, the at-will PVP just didn't appeal to me. I get that some people enjoy that added level of danger, but I don't require it. I love PVP, but I like mine separate from other activities when I'm trying to get things done, and I also don't like being forced into running with a pack to do simple tasks. After some research, I discovered UOAlive and have been playing here ever since. Many people are addicted to graphics and games that push their systems and video cards to the limit with realism and flash. The dated graphics of UO will be a turn-off for people like that, but it wasn't an issue for me. The ruleset and sandbox MMORPG atmosphere is fantastic in Ultima Online and always has been. When a new player can handle it, a good run down and back up in the newbie dungeon in New Haven will get you between 10-15k gold if all you did was clear everything in your way, so the coins add up quickly. The treasure maps recovered from the same area will get you about 10-12k in gold as well, not including any other loot in the chest when you pop them, so it's worth maxing out cartography, removing traps, and lockpicking to start treasure hunting. Due to UOAlive's quality of life, all those skills are free, with trainer boxes in the community center for lockpicking and disarming traps available. Brand new players, or people who haven't played in years, may not know the significance of the giant blue beetle. It's a mount and a pack animal, meaning you can use it while collecting resources and still ride it, as opposed to the slow-moving pack mule. Also, it is helpful inside dungeons for hauling all your spare loot so you can carry out as much for sale or imbuing disassembly as possible down the line. Thanks again.
its kind of like OSI, they run events though. Its good if you never played the game and want to learn it, or maybe you hate PVP.. its a good place for carebears. Plus you can level up your skills very fast, a lot of players run repair tables so you can get free repairs, they also run runebooks so you can access the whole world from these.
I played UOAlive for a few days but I found myself doing what you said at the beginning of the video. Killing the same dragons over and over. Placed a house and didn't know what to do with myself. I feel I geared up/skilled up far too quickly. Only took me 2 days or so to get everything. Ended up leaving. Fun because it's UO but...
Oh man that is just the beginning! If you decide to give it another shot let me know. Tons of quests and the champ spawns alone are amazing. I'd love to go huntin with you!
I been on and off this and insane now, just cant find a feel for this stuff really. Champs, thats all there is for end-game. The drops suck major corncob. Costs 2+m to buy a LMC suite. or whatever that guy sells em for. Just is crazy to me lol. Taming is like pokemon waiting around to catch a epic mount. Aint seen a legendary yet. Been on for over a week straight and nothing. I know they are rare but its just a waste of tiime to me anymore. There isn't no help either gear wise or nothing. Just hear wear what u want. I want to wear what's best thats what i want. So i can understand wth the D2 itemization is about. Just after playing Unchained, Outlands, nothing can compare its crazy the deph they put into the game for end-game. Bosses, and etc.
