WHY I DIDN'T LIKE BATMAN HUSH 

The thing I hated most about this film was that they kept referring to Riddler as a C lister which he has never been and overall while the original Hush story was a little messy at least Riddler was very competent in it in terms of strategy.

You hit the nail on the head-Riddler’s compulsion to leave clues are what give him away every time; it’s almost impossible to believe he would be able to commit crimes as Hush without leaving clues like before. It’s why he’s crazy.

my issue with this movie and riddler being hush is that nygma decided to fist fight batman in the end. dude has never been one to throw hands with batman. he thinks of physical violence as beneath him and always wanted to prove he's better than batman mentally. it really rubbed me the wrong way for him to use such methods to best bruce.

This movie honestly has the worst problems for me that the other 2 movies before it did with disrespecting and going too far off of the source material. Mostly the disrespect of the Riddler having him be a C lister and the end mischaracterization of Selina with her leaving just because she decided to be more bloodlusted than she's supposed to be and because she doesn't like the fact Bruce wants to save everyone despite the fact that Selina has known him for literally years and knows this fact. And Thomas Elliot not being Hush jus kills it for me. Also Nightwing casually taking his millionth L in these movies when he shouldn't

What I loved about the romance ending was that it was Batman that made it not work, she was willing to compromise and be a different person for him, she would have given crime and her old life all up for him. But he wouldn't change, he refused to even save his loved ones over Hush, he was willing to risk her life to attempt to save Riddler. Like, she was in the right, and it's neat to see that.

I really liked the film. I think they made the Hush identity twist work. It was an interesting twist and was genuinely surprising compared to the book where its SO obvious that it's Thomas Elliot.

Watching this video today and seeing Kevin Conroy doing a "cameo" for you at the end just made me sad, man. What a Legend and you're lucky to have that clip.

For all the flaws that HUSH (the original comic, not the animated adaptation) had, I appreciated it for bringing back Jason Todd - or, more accurately, making it look like Tood had returned before they retconned the story so that he DID return. I always felt bad that the second Robin died so pathetically after getting only one punch on the Joker. I always wanted him to have another chance. And he got one both in HUSH and in UNDER THE RED HOOD!

They did my boy riddler dirty in this movie! They made him a loser villain and made him drop the riddles! Did the writers of this movie hate riddler or something? I don't really care much for the Thomas Elliott character either.

Imagine how cool it would have been if it was revealed that Ra's al Ghul was Hush the whole time. I think that would have been a decent twist.

Leaving behind the fact that the only thing they kept from the comic storyline was the first half. It makes no sense for the Riddler to be Hush. Hush is to Batman what Moriarty is to Holmes and in this film they turned him into nothing more than a campy gag by the Riddler. Also, the sown on question mark on the forehead was extremely cheesy. They had a chance to fix the issues the comics have had with this character and craft a much more cat and mouse mystery storyline for them to exist in. But instead they made it feel like a fan fiction version of the original storyline. But regardless of that, nice video as always Vee. Hush Hush m8. ;)

I actually didn't know how I felt the first time I watched it but after watching it a few more times it's become one of my favorite installments in this line of films.

I love the Catwoman and Batman relationship

Hush Hush. I feel even if they wanted a twist, this as a twist wasn't the way to go. Wonder what Vee thinks of the twist in the Batman Animated Series continues comic and what they do with Hush there.

The Riddler reveal killed this film for me. I am not a big fan of these animated films universe but I take they are passable. I can watch and forget about the designs and characterizations that are not to my like. But shoving the Riddler as Hush is so off the left field. I equally hate when the new friend shows up with the new villain and the reveal is laughable predictable ( you'd think professional writers would avoid that ) so while I understand exchanging roles to make up for that the Riddler felt as a really bad choice for it. To my mind the villain who could perfectly replace Thomas Elliot if you are gonna do that was Bane. He had the brains and brawl for it. Guess you wouldn't name the movie Hush but Knightfall then.

The Lazarus pit was brilliant. Basically, the comics imply that, while normal people go insane in the pit, The Riddler (who's already insane) went sane. Without his inferiority complex and OCD, Nygma was able to put together the clues that were already right in front of him.

I actually like Batman: Hush ……..I feel like that’s gonna be another unpopular opinion of mine just like me liking Damian Wayne is lol. But yeah it’s not nearly as good as the previous 3 and some things are just fucking weird but I still like it.

I think Riddler is harsh could’ve worked if he was unintentionally leaving clues to who he truly is kind of like how in Batman the animated series there was an episode where Riddler left clues to how to beat him without even realizing it. Perhaps in the story Riddler could’ve really been trying to keep his identity secret but he just can’t help but hint at things?

I was literally about to type you should do the justice league movies next and then you mentioned maybe doing them at the end. Well "hush hush" to you my guy!

"The Dark Knight has never had so many L's" TRY BEING A DCAMU NIGHTWING FAN Poor guy gets written out of fight scenes every single time by having his arms broken the disrespect on him is real because the writers know that Nightwing is incredibly competent in combat but so much so that he would steal the show and since those are batman movies and not nightwing movies, he has to get nerfed every single time so he doesn't steal the spotlight from brucie. Nightwing needs his own animated solo movie like, NOW.

While I completely agree about Riddler not making a whole lot of sense as Hush, iirc from the comics they said that the lazurus pit essentually also fixed his mental health issues and hang-ups. This is why he suddenly realizes Bruce is Batman, becuase he's thinking more clearly then he ever has, and might be what they're hanging on in the movie for why Riddler doesn't have the desire to leave clues that he is Hush. It still not great and could have been explained if that's true... but I still feel like this movie robs Hush of any potential he does have; which isn't a whole lot but they have done some interesting things with the character both in comics and in adaptations.

I never cared for the Catwoman/Batman romance in this movie. Mainly because this is the first time they introduced Catwoman to this movie universe, yet they basically started the movie off together. It's a little hard to root for a romance that just expects you to accept this kind of love story out of nowhere.

It''s interesting that you didn't like this as much as the others since I personally think the movies get worse the longer they go on. Not horrible, but a mixed bag for sure. I wasn't sure if it was fatigue in the series or if they just dropped off, but I think an outside perspective on something is always good to have. Definitely think watching the rest of the movies in this timeline is good idea and would love to see what you think of them. Hush hush

Okay I'm reading the comments and watching the video and starting to to see a pattern. Yes, nygma becoming hush...he isn't the same as how he is portrayed in the comics. But here's a theory, didn't Nygma go into the Lazarus Pit? Doesn't the pit change how people think? Doesn't the pit change you into a whole different person? Yes, it does. Riddler doing things he doesn't normally do in this movie seems reasonable since he did dump himself inside that life-changing pit. Or maybe I just need to rewatch the movie a 5th time. Just a theory!

I hope we get to see what he says about justice league dark apokolipse war, it's a really interesting take on the dceu that calls all the way back to the flashpoint animated movie that started this whole animated universe

5:50 That is a common problem not just with adaptations of Batman stories (which have fallen back on the crutch of swapping character roles around for a very long time now) but long running 'geek media' in general. This is no different than the Khan reveal in the JJ Abrams Star Trek movies. Non-fans have no reason to care while the fans may just be confused or annoyed why something was changed for the sake of change without improving anything in the story.

I just watched this movie and I agree with everything you say. One thing that bothered me about hush being riddler is the scene where he captured the riddler. Batman has his captured and handcuffed to a light-post while he’s also watching himself from another building. Now I get it’s meant to be a disguised clayface but without that reveal or at least before that it makes no sense. Plus as you mentioned hush as a character is a polar opposite to the riddler’s character which this movie confused me.

This movie does have one of my favorite Joker designs. I enjoy when they make him thin and spindly, a mirror to Batman physically. The voice however could have done with some work

Really did like the hush movie they stay faithful to the source material even though the twist about the Riddler being hush was a shocker to me I actually liked it and I am the biggest fan of the Gotham by gaslight movie

It is rather interesting to see your opinion on Damian Wayne change as I watch your videos. You used to absolutely hate him and now while you don’t love him, you have a more positive view on him. My take is that he is a character that needs to be well written to be appreciated, we also needs to have his character development where he wants to do better in spite of how he was raised. When he is written poorly they just give him is arrogance, but a well written Damian has his arrogance because he knows that he is one of the best fighters and very smart, but he also wants to better himself to prove himself worthy of being the son of the bat and the heir to the cowl. Another thing that worked great in Damian’s character development was giving him a best friend in Jon Kent, if you liked the recent animated Super Sons movie, I suggest you check out the Super Sons comic series because it is a good story and a lot of fun.

Superman has an appearance, which was decent but. I preferred when he was Clark Kent and he was making jokes with Bruce about whether Selena is cheating on Bruce with Batman or if it's the other way around. Then Bruce is done with Klark's shit and walks away. Then Klark shouts Don't do anything I wouldn't do I thought it was a rare occurrence of Clark being a lot more human and casual which was very much welcome to me

Well apparently I'm just really stupid because apparently I'm the only one who didn't figure out Tommy Elliot was Hush when first reading the comics.

This is the typical thing these movies do. Adapt most of the story, trim or alter small stuff, then completely change the twist ending if it has one. Long Halloween and Gotham By Gaslight does the same.

From what I remember, this was somewhere at the bottom of my DCAMU movie list as I did not enjoyed watch Batman: Hush compared to the other movies. Maybe cause I’m a Jason Todd fanboy, but I think this movie wouldn’t been higher for me if they added the Jason Todd but not really twist. It woulda at least confirmed Jason Todd exist in this universe. Didn’t like they kept calling the Riddler as C tier villain as he’s one of my favorite villains since I was a kid, feels more shoehorned with the Batman characters here and I couldn’t appreciate it unlike other one off villains in other movies, the pacing was too fast for this movie and maybe done better in the comics, and while Thomas being Hush as a reveal is too predictable in the comics, at least it gives me the satisfaction for the Hush character and I didn’t like that the Riddler dipping in the Lazarus pit and being Uber Riddler made him Hush; I preferred the Riddler as the surprised mastermind in the back like in the comic than the physical threat orchestrating things. Ironically, the things I like in this movie, was the outside of the Batman identity moments as I love Bruce interaction with Damian, Thomas, and Selina. Also really like the Batman and Catwoman team up for the most part, but like the comic, I did not like how to the two ended, especially here when I saw Catwoman killed Riddler to save Batman, called Batman crazy and insane for wanting to try to save the man who killed Batman’s friend and his loved ones, and the two parted ways. Maybe cause I’m a hopeless shipper that just wanted the two to still stay together for years. Still hurting on the that Batman and Catwoman wedding arc.

I grew up with the arkham games that was my introduce to the hush character and seeing him with a bruce wayne face gave me the creeps as a kid so years later when i was first watching this movie and it turned out to be the ridder i was pissed i never can sit down and watch that movie again i much rather it been Thomas Elliot with a story of him take waynes face to try and destroy his life i hope hush is the main villain in robert Pattison 2nd batman movie and they do something like that and it show bruce that he could do good as bruce and not just batman

I actually pirated this movie but, after a few minutes, it was so good I decided to buy it on Google TV. I regretted that. It kinda fell apart immediately after the point where I decided to give them my money. (made the same mistake with Injustice).

So when it comes to this animated universe the medeling from the studio had a lot to do with the quality of these movies. Every single one! Some ended up having great stories and others are alright. NOT MANY are bad to myself.

Are you gonna review the apocalypse war movie? Or is it dark side war? Anyway it’s the end of this animated movie universe and honestly I disliked how it was “too harsh” the gore was over the top and rather cruel. I’m not sure how else to say it but it was a bit much.

They completely absolutely annihilated the Riddler’s character. For that reason this is my least favorite Batman movie of all time.

You need to watch all the series in the order they came out from the different movies, if you watch it in that order the different plots all make sense, I think you would have more appreciation for these films if you did that instead of just watching the Batman ones then justice league ones

my issue with the animated adaptation is making Riddler as Hush, then makes him go hand to hand with Batman. Because yes, that's what Riddler was about, physically defeating the bat. That's what's been missing, making strong and a good fighter. No! Riddler is supposed to be Batman's intellectual equal, trying to prove to be his superior. that's who Riddler is.

Ok, so if I'm doing an adaptation of Hush, and I don't want to use Thomas Elliott as the villain, then I think with the continuity of the current animated Batman movies I would have the identity of the villain be Tim Drake. As far as I can tell, in this current continuity after Jason Todd died, the next Robin was Damian Wayne. Have Tim Drake be introduced as somebody who helps Bruce with detective work through computers and studying of clues. Explain that Tim was considered as a potential Robin, and while he was extremely smart and is somebody who really helps Bruce with analyzing and theorizing, Bruce just decided he didn't cut it for field work. At the end, when you reveal Tim as the person behind the bandages of Hush, you find that he's unhinged and this is his revenge for Bruce refusing to make him a Robin.

“Hush, Hush”

I feel like they could have added in the Jason todd fake out with clayface and give Damian Tim's role as a B or C plot. Thus giving Nightwing and Batgirl something to do. You could have Jason beat the crap out of Damian who in a patrol gone bad and by the time Nightwing and Batgirl intervene, Red hood has already swapped out with Clayface. I'll even set it up after the beaten up Joker scene and Gordon talks Batman down, Joker is sent to a military convoy back to arkham or black gate for medical attention. Robin decides to head to town for the night to indirectly support his father's romance with Catwoman and give him one less villain to worry about. However, Jason in a duplicate hush costume raids the convoy and proceeds to kill off the joker in the confusion. Robin banters and tries to take Hush (Jason) on. Jason reluctantly fights back from Robin's prodding while Joker staggers a few blocks waiting for Harley and/or one of his goons to pick him up. Jason in his frustration mops the floor with Damian. Although the kid has matured quite a bit in this continuity he's not taking down a blood lusted under the red hood Jason Todd in a fight. This would set the stage for a DCAMU adaptation of under the red hood. Or if it never pays off, simply reference similar events to the 2010 animated film. The only take away would be the bat family is an extra five minutes in the movie's runtime if you want to remain within the consistently contracted 90 minutes window

Given that Hush is one of my all time favorite stories in the comics, I'm not sure if I even want to see this movie. The changes are gonna piss me off, I'm sure of it.
