Hello folks. This one is about why dig by vinyl records and my turntable. I grew up on vinyl having great memories of going through records at the record store, checking out the album art and reading the liner notes. Then, bringing them home and enjoying hours of fun listening to them.
That started disappearing in the early 1980s with the advent of the CD. Sure you could still go through the CDs at the record store and read the album art but it wasn’t quite the same at that size. I eventually got rid of all my vinyl. Then the birth of mp3/streaming music really changed everything and I eventually got rid of my CD collection for the most part. Streaming took over, like it did for most of the world. First, it was iTunes, then You Tube, Pandora, Spotify, and now another streaming platform I like called Tidal.
I consume probably 80-90% of my music through streaming, but I still love my vinyl. You can’t beat the overall sound quality that you do through the digitization, compression of streaming music. records went away for a while and then started making a resurgence maybe 10-15 years ago and is growing today.
