Exactly my thoughts. The thing is, we don’t even know WHO her side is. He’s saying he prefers unknown, shadowy figures to run our government. John…John…🤦♀️
How sad that so many people support Donald Trump-- a man of NO CHARACTER AT ALL. A convicted FELON, a PROVEN FRAUD and a SEXUAL PREDATOR. So much for all those "christian values" Republicans go on ^ on about. Trump has broken ALL the 10 Commandments (except murder--and maybe he's PAID for one or 2)
Thank you, Glenn! You sum up Harris’ deceitfulness very well. To conceal Joe Biden’s dementia for years to the country’s peril is not the action of an ethical woman.
You've got some poor critical thinking skills, and so does Glenn apparently. In your mindless speculation, what is the amount of time you think Biden has bin unfit? A year? 2 years? And what do you think Harris should have done, start running ads saying Trump is right about sleepy joe? Its way beneath Glenn and his audience to be making this dumb argument that Harris covered up Biden's cognitive decline. What in your view is it exactly that constitutes cognitive decline that makes somebody unfit to serve as president? The stutter he's always had the stutter. Younger politicians have gaffes all the time, but when a wise old man does it we call it cognitive decline. Hell, Joe Biden himself is notoriously a gas machine and always has been. But now that he's old we call it cognitive decline?
@@johnandert1611 Oh yes she is. She’s the worst type of deceitful. She’s the type to get on her sanctimonious soap box and call Trump a liar and a threat to democracy, when she really should take a look in the mirror. She’s all of those things herself and so much more. A hypocrite!
8:31 I hope John goes on to explain why he would prefer Harris "running the store." Trump did an objectively good job at the helm of the country. Only the covid, black swan event detracted from it. Biden/ Harris has been objectively substandard. So why, John?
@dennisdose5697 Beyond his term, how about that insurrection and trying to destroy the peaceful transfer of power? What's he done, for the benefit of the country since he last lost the 2020 election? Oh, he's been a huge pain in the ass obstructionist. Right! Build That Wall! LMAO

One thing is certain regardless of the outcome of the election. The size of the federal government will increase, the deficit will continue to rise at an alarming rate and the partisans will blame the "other side" for why things aren't working. Same song, different verse.

Did trump expand the size of govt or any programs in a material way? And which side is responsible for the mechanisms that drive the debt? Who created the programs that continue to grow and eat up govt funds? Is it an equal split or did one side drive that at greater levels than the other
Disagree. Gov will get smaller under a strong MAGA/Republican run Administration. Under a plain republican or other (Democrat, Commie, Socialist, even Livertarian (No one will take responsibility) form you would be correct.. But for that to happen, there needs to be Trump and a majority in both House and Senate. Harris was and is Still not eligible due to Not being a Natural Born citizen. Her Parents were VISA holders that went to CANADA and became CANADIANS first according to the 'official story'.
I feel like citizens absolutely need to find solidarity and cooperation with one another. Rallying around an obviously compromised leader and villifying everyone who voted differently will keep us poor, desperate and dependent. Treating your neighbors and fellow Americans as the enemy is a perfect strategy for keeping the faceless wealthy elite in charge and they know it.
Between Harris and Trump, only Trump has been found liable for SA and defamation and found criminally guilty and civilly liable for business fraud. If lying makes some "not capable" Trump has been disqualified multiple times over.
@@bara7331 How about just one among many: He said, WHILE the votes were still being counted ON election night- I saw and heard him on the TV- that he had won the election. How believable is that? And he has repeated this lie for years, with his people going into court and never bringing any proof. Then, a certain cable news station paid out close to a billion dollars for repeating the lie and for slandering a voting machine company. Citizens stormed the capital, based on his lies. If someone tried to change a map with a pen, rather than admit he was in error about where something was located (really pathetic, because who is fooled by that) then that person is not to be trusted.
I'm in awe, and cat't wait to read Dr. Loury's book. Waiting on it now. And yes, I've read two of Dr. McWhorter's. I'm in Canada, but have to say, these two men help me stay sane. Most people here are hypnotized by the narrative, and it's like I have been teleported into a futuristic film a la Atwood.
@@jennifermarlow. See, that’s my issue with them. That “issue” you speak of is what some call a false narrative. I maintain, as one who’d identify as a ‘liberal’, that woke was not the “woke” of the 60’s but a 2024 sound bite. I used to admire these guys but no longer. They bought into the narrative and now just look to capitalize upon it. That’s a shill.
Funny how people are so willing to cut off their noses to spite their face. " I'd rather that than the alternative" They could be lied to, deceived, hard times set upon them and still if the narrative is strong enough they will return for more.
@@RandomYTCommenter I know a few. I think the more educated/smart they think they are, someone like Trump insults their sensibilities and they can't imagine someone they consider a buffoon or not as "smart as them" telling them what to do.

I think Glen falls back to when your about to admonish some one you show them the respect of using their full name. just like when moms about to yell at you lol
“Let me be clear…. “. Her position: I love America. You love America. I love the American people.” This is her position. She speaks to “the people” as if she’s they are in kindergarten; it is contempt.
But the progressives repeatedly state that America is evil and founded on racism. It needs to be destroyed. "We love America" seems not to represent Harris's base at all.
Glenn, why is Trump problematic? He wants to end illegal immigration, for America to thrive economically, and to protect our constitutional rights. I suppose any candidate can be problematic, but no need to single out Trump.
Trump had 4 YEARS AS PRESIDENT and he did NOT change the immigration laws. Then, a BIPARTISAN group in the Senate--LED by one of the most conservative, Sen. Lankland of OK--wrote the most CONSERVATIVE immigration bill in 30 years.mp told the GOP to "kill it " becuase'I don't want Biden to have a win."
It would be nice to get back to voting on, you know, issues. Differences of political opinion. Where both candidates are nonetheless basically fit for office... that being an obvious sine qua non for the position of president. IMAGINE THAT.
Yeah, but one side rejects the outcome by storming the Capitol, toting guns, threatening the life of the VP... the other says "not my president" One side creates over 20 ridiculous court cases, rejects the results, promotes the idea that election processes cannot be trusted The other side says: the electoral college system shafts the popular vote. The sides do not reject in the same way.
I love Glenn and respect his learnedness. But he is not as stable over time in how he views the world as Sowell. He has not seemed to fully settle in where he stands.
Old southern white guy here. You two give me hope. Please keep at it. A lot of my friends believe that we are in decline as a people and our culture is dead. Only thing remaining: Do you want to go out with a bang (trump) or a whimper (Kamala)
This should be easy. Weigh it up. Trump’s four years vs Biden/Harris four years. Immigration-Trump Foreign Policy-Trump Inflation-Trump Domestic Economy-Trump Why the ignorance of who’s better to be president?
@@kale2149 -- Trump is clearly flawed. I'm not a republican either, but surely they could come up with a better candidate. Nevertheless, in terms of the four policy areas outlined it seems to me to be pretty damn inarguable that Americans were better off under Trump.
Operation Warp Speed. It's a uni-party, and won't make any difference. Trump love himself - been following the man since the 80s. But hey, it's a choice .. the Devil? Or the deep blue sea? I feel sorry for Americans.
@@onepcwhiz6847 As Biden has said, we should compare Harris to the alternative not the Almighty. In that context, Harris is obviously superior in almost every way.
I wonder what you actally said about President Obama WHILE he was president. You obviously ahvne't actually HEARD VP Harris and are just repeating Trump's disgusting INSULT. It's weird how much MAGA LOWERS PEOPLE'S ABILITY TO THINK!
I para-phrase Glenn, "I'm not a Democrat and I'm not saying I'm voting for Trump". Quintessential Glenn Loury. His show partner is John McWhorter and is touchy about Glenn referring to Barack 'Hussein' Obama. John's political jaundice is obvious, and is well imprinted in his neural-pathways. By these traits we know them.
Speaking of Barack Hussein Obama, I find it interesting that he rarely (if ever) talks about his white mother and white grandparents who actually raised him. Yet his whole identity seems to revolve around his black father who was never actually there. Another interesting consideration is that neither our first "black" POTUS nor VP are foundational black Americans. They both have roots (and likely loyalties, in my opinion) spread out to other nations.
Great points. For these two parties the election represents nothing more estimable than winning a game for their own benefit and not for the privilege of enacting legislation in the interests of their electorates.
I really like John (read both of his books: Losing the Race and Winning the Race), but I am baffled at how he thinks the store would run better under Kamala. Does he really think installing more crackpot (often racialist) judges would be a good thing. Does he really think further decimating the energy sector (directly negatively impacting consumer prices) would be a good thing? Does she really think legitimizing people who snuck in the country - to emplace a permanent Democrat majority - would be a good thing? Does he really suppose that efforts to enlarge (and stack) the Supreme Court, as well as obliterate the filibuster would be good for the country? Does he really believe that enlarging and enforcing the Green New Deal (a pipe dream that has Germany suffering for energy) would help the average American, not to mention most people of color? Does he imagine that choking big tech in order to stifle speech Dems don't like or making words and memes punishable by jail time (look at Great Britain) would promote the freedom with responsibility and accountability? Does he suppose that world leaders will in any way respect a cackling, unelected (see the no primary), once reviled (see the opinions of her prior to her anointing as the worst VP in recent history) race liar (see the press on her as the first Indian woman to be elected to the senate) as a true commander and chief? I can't even lay out ALL of the dangers she poses, excuse me, her type of thinking poses for our country.
I sort of doubt he has ever voted for a republican and if you watch him on the national stage he parrots most of the left wing talking points in regards to the right. He did it with Obama's middle name. Oh, Rush Limbaugh use to say all of Obama's names so of course he is a bad guy and that makes doing such bad. Its simply logic that in order to argue against in left wing circles he lives in is major losing ordeal. So you just keep repeating the nonsense and move along.
I don't like how they presented her. She didn't have all this popularity in 2020, so I can't take anyone seriously when they act like they have so much enthusiasm for her campaign. I don't like the race politics with her campaign. I'm tired of seeing comments saying "I'm a white person and I'm voting for her! 😀" Ok, so what? Do you want a pat on the back? Obama won back in 2008 and 2012, so nobody is worried about white people not voting for a black president anymore. I don't like how she's flip-flopping on her policies because it doesn't feel like a sincere change of opinion but rather her following popular opinions. I don't like how long it took her to even say what her policies were especially on her website because they shouldn't be that different from when she ran the first time or from the usual Democrat policies. I wish they had picked someone else for both parties because if Trump wins, it'll be another 4 years of nonstop ranting and fear-mongering from the left and if she wins, it will be a series of broken promises because she might be playing a shell game with her politics. 😮💨
As a married middle-class black Americans woman, I see right through Kamala. She panders to blacks just like her boss, President Biden. What really infuriated me was these out of touch black and white rich liberals forcing Kamala onto the public. Many black women have no interest in Kamala, including me.
She dropped out of the Democratic race years ago when she had barely 1% popularity. But she was chosen to be VP??? It makes no sense whatsoever. Except for the blatant "woman" requirement by Biden. Even at that, there weren't far more popular women than her for the job? The Democratic Party know they aren't operating within the "democracy" they claim they are, ( talk about being a "threat" ), but hope they can pull the wool over the eyes of an absolutely trusting and fearmongered voter base + vulnerable Independents to get them over the hump on Election Day. But the "Black Woman" shtick has to stop. It won't, but it should. It used to be "Indian", now it's Black. Such a cheap tactic.
@@Jayme9296 Agreed. Most people see through Kamala. Biden had a chance to choose an esteemed black woman when he passed over Val Demings for VP. She would have been fantastic, and is completely self-made when it comes to her career success. Clearly, Biden didn’t want someone who would outshine him. I don’t have an interest in Kamala because she is a phony. Kamala grew up in the wealthiest part of Montreal, for her to say she is middle-class is like calling Park Avenue in NYC middle class.
Love Glenn Loury! @John, why u say “u understand and respect” Glenn’s stance and that it comes from a different place than the crowd that aligns with Trump? Glenn perfectly summarized how we feel. And I’m talking as someone that aligns with Trump. Try think about that? What’s the difference. It’s coming from the same place
Glenn is so angry over issues like affirmative action that he cannot judge Harris as she should be judged as a candidate opposing Trump. I can’t help black and their feelings of anger over affirmative action. As a white man i shrug my shoulders.
As a white woman, I understand why he cannot endorse this scumbag and friend of Epstein, though he may vote for him because Harris is, to say the least, unqualified.

My opinion is that people are planning to vote more for the platform of the party versus the person. I am disappointed that Trump is the candidate for the Republican party. There were so many opportunities just to get him off that political stage and they blew it. The Democrats blew it as well. To reiterate, my guess would be is that the majority of people will be voting for a party platform. Harris and Trump are both very disappointing candidates.

Is the discussion between Winston Marshall and Sunil Sharma far right Islamophobia? Or Henry Kinsinger's change of mind before he died on immigration tied to the topic? Is someone who had read the Quran, Hadith and refutes them as non-historic on many topics specifically the facts of who Jesus Christ is and of His life on earth before the Ascension Islamophobia? Not familiar enough with either Glenn Loury or John McWhorter to know. People use that phrase in many different was similar to far right or far left etc. I have listened to a few of John's video and have agreement with but not enough to understand his view on that statement.
Trump’s not a racist, in my opinion though he says idiotic things that when you peel back the onion on those statements, it is usually based on a non-racist value.
He’s not a racist at all. Funny how so many famous leftists of all races call him racist now, but they were good ole pals with him for years before him announcing in 2015 that he’d run for president. Check out the old videos. Whoopi, Joy Behar, Jesse Jackson, Mika Brzezinski and many, many others. A lot of what the mainstream sells to us is not at all the real picture.
My thing about Trump is that though he may be easy to dislike he is not untrustworthy as there are several issues that he followed through with that he said he would. To be fair, there are some that he hasn’t or has flip flopped on.
One is afraid that DonOLD Trump will follow through on deporting millions of immigrants based on race and country of origin, one is afraid that he will follow through on trying to dismantle the Justice department and/or using it to persecute his opponents, one is afraid that he will follow through on making "peace" with Russia by giving Putin large chunks of Ukraine, thus emboldening Putin further. I suppose there are people who would love to see DonOLD Trump follow through as described above, but the US will no longer be recognizable as a democracy or the beacon of the world.
