Why I Ditched My Trayvax Wallet for a Flipside.

it's been my best wallet purchase ever , simple , reliable , have used for more than a year

I’ve used this wallet for awhile and it perfect! It’s nice in the hands even though mine are small. And it can hold cards, case and some change and It keeps me from overloading

Thanks for this practical review. I watched this 3 years ago, and I didn't get one because I was testing out my Trayvax wallets(I have about 3, and they all do share the same issue). Trayvax make good products, but accessibility and organization is an issue for all of their wallets. So I bought two Flipside wallets, one for me and one for my wife, and she loves it. And then my father-in-law saw it, and now I am ordering one for him as well :) Thanks again.

I wonder if you're still using this wallet. I recently bought one for myself. I was using a traditional leather bi-fold. I got really angry when one of my seldom used credit cards got broken by the pressure from the wallet. I keep my wallet in my back pocket and I drive a truck so I sit on my ass a lot. Well because of the leather seams and stitching in my other wallet the card was cracked cleanly right along the seam of the wallet. I knew why it happened so I started looking for something that would fix that issue. I saw the Trayvax and Ridge wallets but I didn't want anything open and simple card holders were out of the question for me. Because of what I do for a living I use a lot of different cards. I have my personal stuff and then business cards. I was able to put all my cards in the wallet and my fuel and truck stop cards in the back under the cash tab. You said you didn't think this would be a good back pocket wallet but honestly it's awesome for me. I don't feel it at all. It's about the same thickness as my bi-fold was but it's footprint is much smaller. It goes in and to the outer side of the pocket and I never even feel it. I chose it because of the secure nature. I didn't like the idea of any of those open wallet designs because the chance to lose things is too high. In my position it's not so simple to just replace a lost or stolen card it's a real pain in the ass because I'm not home very often to get my mail. I just wanted to weigh in on my experience with Flipside.

I see a lot of comments against this wallet, but afterall its all a matter of personal preference. What works for one might not work for another.

I've had this wallet as well as others like it....all the latches got F***** up. And with this wallet in particular the cards in the lid were always getting scratched up. Not to mention the fact that you are very limited in how many you can carry On the flipside(pun intended) the Trayvax wallet that you have is not one I'd get, BUT the Trayvax Element(10 cards + $) or Axis(14 cards + $) are great choices depending on your needs. Also part of what your paying for with Trayvax is a 65 year warranty, as well as quality they will stand behind.

I like my pitaka, it wipes the magnetic strip but in the UK we use chip and pin only so that's fine.

🤣I gave my trayvax away have had the flipside 4 now for 3 years I will never go for another wallet after the flipside my life has been over simplified in the world of wallets good review

Thanks for this review. I never liked that particular TRAVAX wallet and they now give them away with every order. Over the last year I bought 3 other Trayvax wallets, Axis, Original 2.0, and Ascent, all of which I like very much, with the Ascent being my favorite, but the 2.0 is very easy to adjust and holds as little or as many cards as you want . I still have the free wallets like you first bought and do not like them. Like you I want my cards to stay in and be easy to find. And the Flipside is a great design and you did a great job reviewing it. I saw where you continued to use the Flipside after 2 years and I bet you are still using it. As for belts I have a number of belts but wear the Trayvax all the time.

Fantom Wallets are awesome!! They are much easier to get cards out. My all time favorites are Trayvax Contour and Fantom Carbon Fiber wallet.

The trayvax contour fixes all the issues you have. It’s on the expensive side but it’s well worth the money. It costs $140 but you won’t find a wallet better than the trayvax contour.

Personal preference bottom line. The trivax and the flipside wallet they both look good. And fun to carry 😁

It `s easy to get the topmost cards but how about second and third?

The lesson here folks is that looks and price are very subjective. You could spend $20 on a tried and true leather wallet or $200 for a modern minimalist look and feel. At the end of the day whichever you choose ALL OF IT holds your cards and/or bills. As long as it works for you, hey who gives a s* what others think right? I own a flip myself and what I like about it is that everything is enclosed. Bills tucks in nicely, cards are easy to find and pull out. It just works FOR ME.

Yes. I agree. These minimalist wallets have to address the cash issue. In a world with no cash it's fine. If only Treyvax could find a way to incorporate some kind of magnetic money clip that would be fine. The flipside is a great wallet but the design should have some more flare. Maybe some leather in the design? Better shape? IDK.

Ive had two flipside and can say they need to improve on the plastic money clip and make it more substantial instead of loose wiggling and flimsy. if they'd improve that it would be nearly perfect

Why not carry a normal wallet?? I would go for a Trayvax Ascent. Very awesome wallet! The box looks ridiculous.😂

I bought a flipside too. If you don t carry cash I would suggest PocketPro. It seem to hold 25 cards and it is still small. You can still hold cash. So many good Wallet now it start to become hard to choose. My favorite are Flipside, Dango, Stow, PocketPro

I just got tricked into watching a damn trayvax wallet review. You talked about the trayvax more than the flipside.

I live in the UK, and have an earlier version of the present Trayvax Axis wallet. It can take 8 cards, 3 business cards, 3 coins, and usually 3 banknotes tri-folded. I have checked this because here in the UK where the £10 and £20 banknotes can be larger than the standard US dollar note, they simply will not fit under the clip in the note compartment. The only GBP note which can be folded and fitted is the GBP £5 note. Otherwise it looks a good functional design. So this looks like a design only suitable for the US market.

I wonder if after 2 years the wallet still holds up. I had one for a while but eventually it became to lose to hold cards. Also uncomfortable has a back pocket wallet. Not saying not to buy one, just depending on your lifestyle and daily activity it may vary its lifespan.

It looks like something OtterBox would make to protect a phone. Not my style, but I can see how some might gravitate to a hard shell carry.

But, but,... You can’t open a beer bottle with the Flipside. 🍻🤪🍻 That strap on the Trayvax was just plain stupid. It should be a stretchable strap that would still hold your cards after you take one out, not one that you have to constantly adjust. What genius designed that? Why do the designers at Trayvax think that their customers need to constantly adjust a strap, or fasten a snap? I don’t want to do that crap! I just want to open my wallet get my money or credit card out, and then close it again, without adjusting a strap, or fastening some other type of fastener. It’s stupid and it just adds unnecessary expense to the wallet.

Too boxy and bulky for me. Love my Trayvax wallets and use them all the time.

Obviously, Trayvax needs to put a more elastic strap on that wallet. That one is crazy, for the reasons you point out. While nice, I’m just not sold on plastic wallets. I like my leather billfold. It has easier access to credit cards, bills, and ID. I can find anything I need in it, blindfolded.

If it doesn’t look like a wallet, might not be a target for stealing! No matter what wallet you you decide to carry, an attention getter, is one with Declined by merchant card. It really stands out, then. I got orange because it’s easy find!

I agree I used to carry those cute wallets myself but people would call me sissy and beat me up all the time now I have the flip side and people fear me it has changed my life

I’ve used the Trayvax Axis for 2 years, you’ve definitely got the “wrong” model, love my Trayvax. Good video, not sure the flip side is for me, but enjoyed the comparison.

I like the concept, but aesthetically it's not very pleasing. I'm looking for something as functional /easy to use but it should also be a bit more "elegant".

Trayvax makes the best wallets around. I will admit that the summit is by far the lowest grade. I’ve had the axis for a year and absolutely love it. About to be buying the ascent coming up in a few days.

Trayvax has many different wallets, and some are more versatile than others. The Flip is not versatile at all, plus the catch can and does break, and I've had 2 of them. And that's a symptom of this type of wallet, not only the Flip, do NOT overload even a little. They say this, and construction in general, has been improved. And I do like the Kick attachment but.... That adds more bulk and $. Which puts it into the price range of the Trayvax Element. Which in my mind is more versatile and better looking. Trayvax also has a 65 yr warranty, not 2yrs. And most can be repaired at cost of materials/shipping. The Flip can't. Each to their own, if it works for you... Go for it. The Ridge is another option.

I turned mine into a plastic soap case holder container box.

RFID is actually a non issue anymore. Check it out. The risk is near zero.

I too ditched my Trayvax wallets (Summit, Axis and Contour) for a Flipside. My Flipside wallet (black) has been in daily use over a year now and holding strong. Looks great, functions flawlessly, rugged, ease of use, RFID protection, perfect size, more than adequate card and cash capacity. Flipside hit it out of the park with this design. Best $40.00 investment I ever made. Thank you, Flipside!

Looks like a miniature box of Kleenex (travel case) or for Q-tips. I have a trayvax contour that puts that to shame. You getting a kickback!

Have had my flipside4 wallet for a few months and love it so far, get compliments on it all the time too. People saying "that's a cool wallet" and other positive stuff. Best wallet I've had so far.

Great video, I can see functionality wise this is a fantastic wallet but let's be honest it's butt ugly.

maybe next time get a different model trayvax, you got the base model one. I saw this flipside and yeah doesn't fit my taste. I just ordered the element, something Indiana Jones or Crocodile Dundee would use imo

The Trayvax contour screams quality, character, and coolness. That POS that you got....might as well you use a rubber band to keep your cards together. Remember you get what you pay for.

If you no longer want your summit wallet you can send it to me...i have one and love it with absolutely no issues..i get the card i want with no problems and never had the issues you had with adjusting..seems like you were intentionally making it worse

I like the functionality of this wallet but I honestly think it is butt ugly, I have decided to try a Trayvax Axis myself.

Seems like a pain having to try and find a card in 3 different stacks. Looks bulky and sounds cheap too.

Good video, some push-back versus Trayvax wallets. Trayvax gets a LOT of hype online, but I think it's overrated. For instance, in their affordable (non-leather) ones, they are have a lot of tools built-in. I think those wallets would sooner and later rip a hole in my pocket. They should make a metal one without the tools and lanyard loops. (I have sometimes traveled with backpack, but I would never put my wallet on a snap on my backpack!)

Complains about ability to get to a certain card with the Trayvax...fails to notice that you would have to pull top cards out fully to get to the bottom card with the Flipside.
