I worked as a housekeeper for a time in college and after I had my daughter, and as it happened she became very proud of what I did and liked (still likes) hotels. She learned the importance of not only cleanliness, but of service, something I also hold true. I think service to others is based upon the belief in human dignity.

Keeping standards high - which is why I am homeschooling my kids with a Truth filled scientific method, discipline, and difficult classical curriculum....these boys will be taking care of me in my old age and I need to know they have important skills, compassion, are honest, hard-working, and intelligent men of God.
Good for you! 🙂👍 We took our kids out of the public schools back in the 90's and put them in a Christian school. Unfortunately we were both too busy trying to work and make payments to home school.
I teach in a Christian program that shares the responsibility of home schooling with the parents. It is amazing the support I get when I say, “he isn’t learning how to do this as fast as the class”.
The best thing we ever did was pull our kids out of school and homeschool them. My advice to other parents considering the same is to consider homeschooling through upper elementary and middle school ages, because that is when they are the most vulnerable. Our two kids are in their early 20s now, our son with successful career as a biochemist, our daughter is halfway through graduate school, married and just had twins and knows for certain she’s going to homeschool her children also. And guess what, they can think on their own, are not influenced by the insanity going on in the world right now with half truths and lies, and still have their faith in God.
How can I go about this as a single dad with a 5 year old in pre-k soon to start kindergarten? I live on disability in public housing with a heart condition but I do my best with what I have. I know I am in the jaws of the enemy so to speak but if I could at least teach him to do better.

It makes me sad too but then I get mad! What gives these politicians and leftists the right to destroy our country? This is the best country on earth and they want to ruin it. We have to stand up to them and stop it from happening. I am glad that my parents aren’t still alive because it would break their hearts to see what is going on now with the government. All the socialists/communists trying to change our country. My Dad fought in World War II and I know he would be mad that his generation fought and died to keep the crazy Nazis from destroying Europe and us as I am sure they would have been over here in the west had they succeeded in Europe. Im 29 work 40+ hours a week my bill are paid and my kids have what the need if they want something more i have work they can do to earn that money. Im a blue collar guy. I'm 43 raised on a game farm by my great grandfather who was born in 1911. Even my kids have his same work ethic. We rely on no one but ourselves. It's very rewarding. If you ride a couch and scream for free government stuff in our family we will push that couch right out the door.

I get what you're saying. I am keeping my standards high. I occasionally get stressed about the latest news about how low our society has fallen, but I let that pass, because I can't fix what's breaking by myself. I keep in mind the prayer, "Lord, give me the strength to change what I can, to not change what I can't, and to have the wisdom to know the difference." I get on with what I'm doing, because being worried about the decline is no way to live. However, I have a deep desire to lift other people up, who are willing to listen, and put in the work. It feels lonesome keeping standards high. I'd like to see more join in. It used to be a continual source of disappointment to see people mock and denigrate me for it. I learned to shut those people out. I don't need them in my life. They are not going to be convinced by me to come along. The only thing that will (if ever) is their own life experience.

I'd like to see evidence of that. My research depends on the subject. For something like covid, I have spent a lot of time pouring over peer reviewed literature to arrive at my opinion. I would think it is something people observe over time, and then call it their research. Can't cite any sources on it though, just how I form my opinions.

I grow my own food on Long Island. Hardly anyone dose this in my neighborhood and yes I stick out. People don’t have a clue what it takes to grow those vegetables, they all go to grocery stores and pay close to 2 dollars for a pepper. When ever anyone walks past my yard they always glance in and see my work. They walk rather quickly like they have seen something horrible, it’s called “work”.

There's NOTHING like the satisfaction of accomplishing a goal, knowing that you worked hard when everyone else had an excuse, usually blaming someone else.
