Why I Don't Jump Carnival Anymore || St Lucian Carnival 

Valid, valid, VALID POINTS! The last year I revelled (about 6-8 years ago), I had a similar epiphany while on the road. I was just NOT enjoying myself anymore😢 no matter how much I tried to force it... and the sun was HOT on top of that! I thought to myself, I can travel or do something else with that money (costume, hair, nails, shoes, 2nd day wear, makeup, etc). Looking back, I see how God started working on me and in my life... unknowingly He called me to Him until I finally answered that call #Amen #BestDecision 🙏🏼

I am so proud of you, for speaking out, at the end it's all about your morals, the songs are so disgusting, putting women down, and some of them are dead brain not realizing the songs are degrading them. The carnival committee need to revisit the entire thing. Hold on to your morals, some of them need to go back and watched how they behaved on that day.

I really love your perspective…I too was a reveller and stopped since 2016. My main reason however was my growing faith and I just didn’t feel right putting out my body in that way anymore….this was before the thong was popular, prices were quoted in XCD and second day wear was a thing…fast forward now if I wasn’t yet convicted no way I would spend that much money for less covering…carnival has become so much more expensive as the experience deteriorates…and ppl like to say it’s culture, but since when our culture is having our whole a** out and almost all of our 🐱, it’s disgusting! Our women have completely lost their self respect and it’s really sad to see…if these are the mothers and wives we are/will be producing it’s no wonder our society is riddled with all of these social issues! Let’s do better ppl!

This is a good perspective. I have always “worked” in carnival before therefore I have never paid the full cost for the “carnival experience.” It always seemed so expensive! I’m currently considering paying for me to take part next year, however I’ve always wondered if the revellers who invest in our carnival product see the experience as worth the money, so this was good food for thought

I am in complete agreement with you. Carnival used to be about everybody and not just a select few. I love the French bands and the cultural music showcasing this. This is Brazil and Trinidad carnival and we seem to have lost our creative, cultural and social direction as a nation.

On point especially on the panty. No front cloth to cover up. For the food XUVO food was stale this year, I saw j4f serving hotdogs and fries

I jumped this year after a long hiatus and I honestly didn't feel the joy and excitement I once felt in the past. The djs were WACK, the road experience was lacking imagine, I felt more excitement watching last year than I did this year jumping. The band tells you the costumes are custom made so they can't offer refunds yet I received the wrong style and size bra and got a lame ass excuse as to why. Normally I would have a vaval tabanca after jumping but it was not there. You are on point with everything 👏 👌

thank you for sharing this video. i partciapted in the parade of the bands both this year and last year with two the major bands in saint lucia. i must say, that i enjoyed the parties more than the road experience! i believed that the quality of the costume wasnt the best, the food was good but that wait time was long and the drinks were not as good. also, i believe that the costumes are skimpy which reveals the genitals of women way too often if they dont cover up themselves properly beofre they head out on the road on carnival monday. but like i said to myself, that next year will be my last time participating in the parade of the bands because of the outcome of it over the years. the vibes this year was missing something, something was just off and i didn't get that "authentic lucian experience" this year.

My girl I was rejudgemental before listening to you. ( Had already said in my proper Lucian creole, all the way in the UK, move your ass dar ) But after listening to you totally agree with all your valid points. I remember costumes were all handmade, quite creative and would take a lot of man hours.

I can see how after being a part of carnival from a little kid it can get disheartening to hear and experience some of the things that you said! For me I love carnival as well and I haven't experienced stlucia carnival in a costume especially because growing up I heard the whole panty and bra on the road statement making the experience sound like it was such an indecent thing to do ! Yet here you describe it as being way more amazing in that time ! I have experienced carnival in America after I decided to put to bed the entire panty and bra thing in my head! I just believe that the experience varies based on the band that you chose(in stlucia) from my observation of carnival every year! It also varies based on the people you experience it with! I am married with daughters and I believe it's how you upbring your kids is how they will view these things! In carnival there are different choices based on the costume you can get! You don't have to get the string or skimpy panty or wire bra if you don't agree with the look ! There are many more decent options in costumes to chose from! I don't agree with the dry humping! That's one thing I don't like ! I attended a carnival convention and with the increase in materials and all the work that goes into construction of costumes I understand the reasons behind some of these prices ! Again it is based on the band you chose! I believe that carnival is the one time you can free up yourself and let all your stress out and revel together with people! For me carnival is such a spiritual experience! So I believe if you stop doing it based on all the reasons stated and people stopped as well , who will be left to try to influence in changing it back to the experience you once knew?

I especially love the point you brought up about the so called revelers being in it for only the 2 day bacchanal in the streets and not all of what our vaval encompasses like King & Queen of the bands, Calypso competition etc.. Would've loved to hear your thoughts on the use of "Influencers" promoting a carnival which is no longer authentic and creative. Mwen mem.

well said. I remember Rick Wayne said the same in his Newspaper called the Star . He described it as Ass and thong carnival.. It has just got worst and mostly all reveler's get in that same style. We are folowing to much of the North American culture here. and our own culture is very low turn out and participation.

I grew up loving carnival and I have experienced carnival 3 times, last time maybe 2017. And I was looking forward to experiencing it next year after so many years away due to work. So I’ve been viewing every video and I watched the live streams but everythinggg you said resonated with how I felt viewing those videos in addition to pricing, influencers, etc 🥲
