Reading on the kindle device will track reading done for that day and books completed , as long as it has the date and time set and can eventually connect to wifi to sync it to server that you read on that date. The insights aren't viewable on the kindle but it still logs progress. You won't need to switch to your phone to complete a book or chapter. It is indeed odd that insights and achievements are not viewable on the device.
Odd -- no matter how frequently or much I read on my Kindle device, it doesn't (regardless of date and wifi) sync to my reading days. Like I said, several of my streaks have been broken because I read on my Paperwhite all day (for several hours), but never used the app. That's been the case whether on holiday or at home. Thanks for the confirmation it seems to work for some, though.
This hasn't been my experience except among the books read. Books you complete will show up with "Read" status and in the "What you've finished" section. But reading on a Kindle device, even when connected to wifi, won't count in the "Streak" section. I've broken multiple several-hundred-day streaks because I forgot to open the app one day but still read on my Paperwhite.
@@willentrekin That's unfortunate! I've never had an issue with that, though...the insights on my app are always current even though I almost exclusively read on the Kindle. I agree that the Kindle should have the tracking on it, though. Like, why not Amazon?
The insights are tracked if you read on your kindle as long as you are connected the internet. You can view later on the app if the insights are that important
@@kay2631 Are you sure? It might track books read overall, but if I read on my Paperwhite, it doesn't track to my streak (consecutive days and weeks read) in the app. I've had lots of streaks broken because I used my Paperwhite one day and forgot to read a page in app.
@@willentrekin I can confirm this. I read almost exclusively on my Paperwhite and that information does show up on insights in the app. It even works if you leave it on Airplane mode. Once you connect back to the internet, the history from previous days I was in Airplane mode all get loaded. Sometimes it takes a day or two to show up, but it always does show up.
You will get longer support on a Kindle device than on a Boox Android reader. Has not stopped me from buying a Boox Palma, but I know it will be left in the wind faster than a pheasants fart.
I actually like the battery life on my Kindle. I do wish it had a better processor to improve the speed while browsing my library. Having color eInk is a dream but I know that's a developing technology.
I have the bigme e reader in color and the box Palma and I really like both of them. The box Palma is great to travel with as it truly fits in your pocket
I'll check out the bigme! I've seen the Palma, but it looks phone-sized to me, and I realize e-ink is better for reading but because I have a phone already I always prefer screens at least 6.8"
