Perfectly normal, man. Life is a long journey, and this decision was just one tiny part. I thought I had my long term future set in stone from ages 23-30 (I was a teacher for 7 years), but the drama of the job became too much for my health, so I quit and now I'm building back up from that. Lost my cushy income, lost the secure retirement that would've been waiting for me, etc. Just keep pushing foward, man.

i appreciate it bro 🙏🏾 my advice to you would be to go all in with making your music. i know school gets in the way trust me but i also don’t want you to upset your parents. just keep grinding with your music and eventually hopefully you can do music full time without going to school. i wish you the best of luck my guy keep pushing through 💯💯

This was literally me this fall… I turned 18 in May, graduated high school in June, attended college in August. I had all good grades, but didn’t feel satisfied and instead overwhelmed. I was in community college with the desire to become an educator and later on pursue a path of music therapy. My goals were set out for me, yet there were challenging outside factors in my life that were deteriorating my mental health and well being. Instead of focusing on myself and making sure that I was okay, I pushed myself to exhaustion and became a hollow version of myself for the sake of others and my dreams. Hoping that it would make me feel whole, complete. However, it did the opposite. Even though it was only 1 semester, the effects of it all were permanent. And in the middle of November, I had to make a conscious decision about what I needed to do to replenish myself mentally, financially, and emotionally in order to move forward. … In other words, I said fuck it and dropped out on Thanksgiving. It was the funniest yet craziest moment of my life this year. However, now that it’s becoming a 2024 in a span of 2 days, I can confidently say that I don’t regret the decision that I had made. I quit my jobs and replaced them with 2 more that pays fairly well. I bought myself a new instrument in hopes of becoming proficient in it like how I was in high-school (though I have a longg way to go lol.) And I am enjoying it so much more than I have before. My problems outside of college had not went away, but I found my voice in the midst of it all. I became more assertive in my boundaries and allowed myself to learn self discipline. I believe that even though dropping out college is the least desirable option for many people to take, it became a necessary pivot for many. The risk of it all is what makes it worth it, and who knows? Maybe later on in life, it will be revisited again down the road. But overall, watching this video made me feel not alone in this journey. Thank you :)

I feel so Depressed because I go to a college program for students with Intellectual disabilities and we don’t get to do things we enjoy, the courses we want to do, instead, we all have to do the same course of Life skills, Emotions, Safety, Relationships and it sucks. We all have to be in the same classroom all day and it kind of drained my energy. I kind of wish we have more freedom compared to regular college students. I feel so restricted too. And I wish they taught us what we want to know like all the regular students that will be taking regular college classes but it doesn’t matter if we fail or pass because we weren’t getting graded basically. I tried telling my special education professors that I don’t need to be in those SPED classes but they said no and I feel so restricted and stuck.

i’m sorry to hear that man. if college is making you not happy and it’s holding you back you have to do what’s best for you and your happiness. i personally prayed on my situation and God guided me and helped my decision in leaving. there are other options besides college and you can find something that you personally enjoy. keep your head up man and if you need to talk a little more you can hit me up on IG @tezooo__ much love to you ❤️

I’m literally in the same boat. The whole party and being under the influence all the time isn’t for me. I felt like school in general was slowing me down from my full potential. I was doing things at a much better rate before I got there, but when I did it was just too many fake people. And one thing about me is I don’t care to fit in. Everything seemed like such a waste of time and waste of my energy. I like to live with intention. I also felt like I couldn’t really focus on my spiritual/healing journey as much because I’m worried about when a test or essay is due.For me, self care(in all aspects) comes first. I know that I’ll be successful no matter what because of me having the drive to better myself and keep pushing.

100% with you twin. i understand how it is. we all have potential to do something in this world and if a certain thing is holding us back we have to let it go. time is something we want the most but use the worst so why not make the most of our time now. we in this journey together and we will prevail.
