Similar troubles for me Ali,Divorced at 35 single for 10yrs 3 kids to raise,I had severe accident and lost most everything i owned..again. Fast forward to 2013 i came to Cebu..worn out,exhausted,. Met my fiipina wife it was our 10yr anniversary December 2023...She and the philippines changed my life
My story is so similar. COVID heavily damaged my heart and lungs. Having episodes of congestive heart failure and respiratory disease that are triggered by cooler weather. The last 2 winters I have nearly died with the doctors telling me there is nothing more that they can do, and I can not expect to survive. With Wasting Syndrome, I've went from a 235# gym rat to 147# in February. In February, I left the hospital to go home to die. I am severely weakened, but I survived. My pulmonologist has openly told me to leave to a year-round warm climate or get ready to start pushing daisies. So, in a couple of weeks, I get on a plane moving to the Philippines. Starting a new life from the ground up, but at least I'll have a fighting chance.

I felt the same way about not being able to find somebody closer to my age without baggage or children, I ended up with a 25 year age gap and getting married to a 22 year old Filipina girl, that was over 24 years ago and things are still going well, no regrets by either of us.

As a Filipina married to an American for 37 years, I watched older Americans both men and women shuffle along life here in the States (specially during winter season) and feeling sorry for them. I do wonder to myself a lot whether they know or wonder themselves if there is a better life out there in other parts of the world. And of course, I wonder aloud to my husband whether they know that there is a better place than trudging in the snow to get their groceries...and all these wonderings I think of my country, the Philippines. Okay so I am blabbering now but I hope it makes sense 🙂and yes, we are moving there in June and I couldn't be happier.
They don't know. They don't want to know. They already know everything. They believe their country is the best place on earth and none can convince them otherwise. Just leave them, they're lost. Enjoy your life in the PH.

What a great story! I'm so glad he saved himself. I'm a female, solo, and have been watching videos of relocation for years including Phillipines.. I just got back from Mexico, and decided that is not for me. I'm still searching for my forever home. I cannot stand living in the US. I just filed for social security, 62, and would like to go be happy in my life. I just do not like living in the United States. Everything he says is true. Except for female, aging, is a little different. I'm not looking for a man, just happiness, and contentment. I'm so happy for this guy. He deserves happiness. This guy was blessed. Takes courage to tell his story like that. He found what he was looking for. Here is like living in BS, 24-7. I know how this guy feels. I know exactly how he feels. When I'm in the phils, I feel like every burden I have is gone. I feel free, completely free. Being here, I'm constantly reminded of work, my ex, thefts at my home, cars, payments, insurance and everything has increased to the point where it pisses me off. A 100k income and I'm pissed, worried and stressed everyday. Paul makes me jelious everytime I watch his vids. Its getting to the point in the phils that Paul is becoming the one and only true, no bullshit kinda guy. If I last till December when I retire. I'm out of this sess pool of shit here in the US. This guy puts a frog in my throat. I know exactly how he feels. The real trick to the phils is; loving the phils. If you do not love the phils in general, it won't work for people. I say all of that to say that THIS is one of your VERY BEST videos...!! Ali has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to be ashamed of nor apologize for. He owes NO ONE an explanation on the way he is living his life nor who he has been blessed with as a life-partner. NO ONE but himself is paying his bills and at 62 years old, who really cares just what people have to say or think. I would like to say this gentleman‘s story is very true. He has a lot of similarities as me. I am going to be 62 in a couple of months and I will be leaving to the Philippines for retirement in less than three years or earlier. I may not have the health issues. This gentleman has, but on the relationship parts of this story is very true, including the medical part of the situation here I used to work at Kaiser and they stick to one motto, only one vendor at a time, usually whether it drugs or for supplies in general , the doctors are partners for Kaiser and there are commission kickbacks The ending of this video he says enjoy life are words to live by for all of us men Thank you for your story, Ali!
I retired at 61 last June, married a filipina 12 years ago, she came to Canada and now we are home in the Philippines in a house that we built over the last 8 years. It’s pain for and we’re having a great life . I feel more healthy as well

I think many men have similar stories of lives that have fallen apart several times, and it all boiled down to finances. Health issues come in many forms, whether physical or mental, and both can be debilitating. I can totally relate to his story, and as I live in California, I can confirm his experiences. It doesn't necessarily have to be the philippines or even out of the United States as there are places here that are less stressful to live and that all depends on the individual. Can you imagine how much it takes to sell everything you have and move halfway around the planet and what would cause a person to do that. This is not a fade but survival for many of us whether it be financial or just for a change of pace and the women in the West are starting to realize that the men just won't put up with it anymore. I've been to the philippines 4 times in 3 years for a month at a time doing recon missions and spending time with a wonderful lady who is what American women used to be . I chose not to be with a woman who could be my grandchild, but the lady I'm seeing is old enough to be my daughter, which at our age is not weird . It's true that we are for the most part not rich by Western standards but in the philippines we are at least middle class by philippines standards so that is the equalizer for what she has to offer in value to me .
People stick to status quo because of material things which you cannot bring with you after life. We hoard things and won’t ever use or see it and keep it in the garage or store it in a storage facility paying fees for stuff. This is the way of life in the west which will eat your life away.
I am not disagreeing with Ali's life experience, everything that he says about America is true - IN PARTS OF AMERICA. I will soon be 66 and I retired 3 years ago. I grew up in rural Pa and I didn't experience any of the bad things that he mentioned. Hard work, church, and family were the ideals that brought a man respect. That is MY life experience. Maybe things are worse now, but it doesn't affect me. I don't have anxiety to show my wealth or to be handsome or to own a BMW or any of that. I live in a 65 year old house, drive a 6 year old car and wear jeans everyday. I also haven't carried any debt for over 25 years... and I AM HAPPY. I want for nothing. I don't have cable TV or internet. I don't chase women or spend my time in bars. I should explain that all of the above is true DESPITE the fact that I am financially very well off. I could buy a new car every year or build a new house if I wanted to... I just don't want to. I guess my point is that it is possible to live the Philippine lifestyle in America if you set your mind to it, at least in some parts of America (Appalachia). Thousands of families here still raise and butcher their own cattle, pigs and chickens and can their own food from their own gardens and orchards. Ali, like millions of Americans, unfortunately lived in the wrong part of America, and didn't marry a committed Christian woman. I'm glad that he found the PH, but he possibly could have found peace and happiness 10,000 miles closer to home if he only knew where to look.
I had to move my aunt out of that area. She lived very cheap. But, she was surrounded by drug addicts, either crack cocaine, meth, or opioids. Her apartment was broken into 3 times. I live cheap (compared to living in Florida) in Mexico. But, my money gets me a house in a middle class Mexican neighborhood. Family people. Not crack heads.

I guarantee you that only a tiny portion of that immense area is dominated by crack heads. I have lived here all my life (except for my military enlistment) and neither I or any of my neighbors has ever had any crack head crime. Again; I'm sure that there are dozens of communities with crime problems, but there are hundreds that don't
I'm in similar situation and this gives me hope. 2 divorces, heart issue and alone renting a bedroom to add to my investments to retire in Philippines. My cousin has a Philopena and visits regularly so I'm not going in blind about the culture and I believe I have a very realistic view on things. 3 yrs and counting to retire wish me luck. I'm living with a gwapa filipina 30 years my junior in Cebu. I feel like I'm reliving my youth the way it should have been long ago. It's the best decision of my life to retire here.
I am 68 and my Thai wife is 42 and even I question a 40 year age gap with a 21 year old. If it works for him though then great for them and he has thought through the issues and explained them masterfully.

Paul, I too almost died last year, my now ex was going to let me expire instead of pushing for heroic measures,(I was only 59 then now 60.) It was someone else who intervened that night. As I rehabilitated I had a wonderful Filipina nurse, she said when I was well and had finished my business here, (My marriage was over by then.) I should visit the Philippines, it might change my life. Since then Ive researched all I can and found I could live a small but comfortable life there. I have nothing here, so in December I will board a plane for my first visit. To see if it's a feasible move. I'll see ya at Ground Zero, coffee's on me.

I am so grateful to God almighty for creating this gigantic nursing home called Phillipines to take care of hopeless senior citizens from North America by these lovely girls. I am a Western woman and I'm glad this guy and others who are his age can find girlfriends or wives 1/2 to 3/4ths their age in foreign countries. Let's be honest here...they are "helping" each other out. The Filipino girl is looking for a rich foreigner whom she can love as she and her family are poor and always will be compared to him; and he's looking for someone to be his life partner, not be so lonely, and is flattered that a young girl is interested in him. I think it's a wonderful thing...they each really do help each other out, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's fine, and I don't doubt for a minute that they don't genuinely love each other...honestly. I only don't like it when Western women are portrayed as something they are not, like here. We are suppose to (1) only go after good looking in-shape men (How many middle aged men are in good shape? Most of the middle aged men that I see are overweight, and their wives or girlfriends don't care and don't say a thing about it), (2) Social Status (Not true, but it helps that you have a j-o-b of some type and are somewhat funny, interesting, and/or at least kind-hearted), and (3) Money and Wealth (I don't see that at all...most western women your age are NOT looking for rich men). I honestly think he is thinking of young 20 and 30 yos. in the U.S. who you would have to be good looking, rich and successful for them to even consider a middle-aged or older man twice their age. Even in my 20's, I was astonished at how many out-of-shape middle-aged barely making any $$$ to survive and had baggage for miles (ex-wives, had grown children who would be older than me, bankruptcies, etc.)...who really honestly were astounded that a 20 yo. like me wouldn't be interested in them...when I could easily get a guy my same age that I could build a life and a family with, that didn't have any baggage. As opposed to the Philipines, where just being a foreigner on social security makes you rich & successful, enough to disregard any "baggage" or age difference you might have. That's OK because it's a mutually beneficial arrangement...and the Philipines sounds like a nice place to live. I love these types of "interview" RU-vid channels based out of foreign countries...really interesting. Just want to say that Western women really d-o love and take care of their men also, like guys who are kind-hearted/funny, are not after your money, and can be very family oriented also.
1. You state SOME obvious truth. 2. Even though YOU may not be concious of it . . . A man will not even get his 'foot in the door' without social status. It is only "not important" if other females have a high regard for him (reputation), or if you "get to know him" because you are COMPELLED to interact with him on a regular basis (for example: employment).

Great video, Paul. Heartwarming. From the comments there are guys watching that don’t realize that in the Philippines big age gap relationships are accepted BUT a 20 year gap is about Max seen if the Filipina is successful in her career. At least that’s what recent discussion of a group of Cebu foreigners summarized. It’s often something not talked about on RU-vid. Some men like to be with women who are successful (say making more than $1200 US monthly) in their careers in the Philippines but then, age gap seems to top out at about 20 years.
If you find someone asking you for money, turn the script around... and ask THEM for money! Say that you need money for a short-term investment, a company needing a loan to pay import taxes, and if they send you money, you can give them 500% return.

The culture, women, cost, crime and politics heavily influenced my decision to retire here in Valencia, Negros Island two years ago. While I still have not found "the one" I am enjoying the playing field and traveling SEA a bit (other Philippine Islands, Thailand, Indonesia mainly). It's a pretty good life here in the Wild, Wild East...long lines, bad roads, noise, scammers and greedy landlady notwithstanding. I walk the mountain roads, eat fruits, swim, watch internet TV and play guitar to fill my time. Sometimes I feel like I time traveled back to the 70s moving here because of all the attention, respect, value for $, sexy girls and they even listen to 70s music!

Been married to a Filipina for 25 years, moved to the Philippines 15 years ago. 4th and last wife. We have 2 children, oldest is attending Silliman University in Dumaguete. 20 year age gap. I agree with you about the past, but the internet has ruined younger Pinay women today. My wife was a pen pall before the internet. She didn't even have a phone. What I did wouldn't work today. My 20 year old son is proof of that. Girls his age might as well be in Los Angeles. He came hear at age 5, now speaking 4 languages.

Thank you Paul and your guest for this beautiful video. I see many many parallels between his life's experience and mine. If I remained in Canada, I am almost certain I would not be alive right now, and if I aws alive it would only be existence. I am a Canadian expat and my wife and I will soon be soon celebrating our 5th anniversary here. We have a 34 year age gap. If that was in Canada, I would feel like my Canadian wife was a child, but my wife is as mature as I am. She is more in love with me now than when we first fell in love. I have to knock myself in the head sometimes to see if this is real. It took my family and some friends back in Canada a while to accept her, let alone even begin to understand us, but in time they learned that "the proof is in the pudding" so to say. The only reason whatsoever I have any desire to return to Canada right now is only to visit my family. Otherwise I will never even visit for a holiday. It would be insanity. We have chickens, rabbits, pigeons, turkeys and pigs in our backyard. I love my new life in the Philippines. Cheers!
Really enjoyed the video. there was a lot of truth and a good message for all people looking to retire in the Philippines . I am nearly at that point in life. I have a house in Mactan my wife and I built, but I am still working in the UK and counting every day until I can return for good.
Have worked in health care in the U.S. for over 30 yrs., everything Ali mentioned what is wrong w/ medicine is true. Have spent most of that time trying to change it for the better for patients, so far, little to no success.
As a filipino who has a 2 brother in law that were foreighners. I can relate of the unfortunate things that happen to you Mr Ali. I know in your heart you are a good and family man. As long as you love and respect our filipina in return she will do that to you. And so thankful for you here you get out of those toxic environment and come to the place that you still have the worth to be love and cared for not only to your filipina and to us filipinos as well.

35 years working insane hours in Los Angeles, and utterly failing to get a functional relationship going with spoiled, entitled American women. Retired early. Moved to Philippines. Within one year I had met the woman of my dreams. 10 years later we are still blissfully together and living a very prosperous life on Negros Island. I had to leave my country to find a genuine partnership with a woman. Moving to the Philippines gave me a second lease on life. I've never had it so good.

Eastern values are group (family, society) oriented. Western values are individual (self) oriented. Both have pros and cons but as we get older, Eastern values are much more fulfilling. - WW

Hello foreigners....I own 2 condos in Bgc area if interested. The ist one is Times Square in Uptown Bgc. This is brand new, not rented yet. It is one bedroom, fully furnished, with a penthouse view of Makati. It's 45k a month with 2 months deposit with 1 year minimum lease. congratulations you finally found "the secret" in life. I too have gone through a similar path... I was born and raised in Hawaii. It was very very hard to leave but, the grass is greener, or should I say the women. Once I found love, it just kept getting better by uncovering all the values that you have listed... The people, culture, and family is what was missing in our western life. It is sad that we needed to move to another country to find "the secret" and happiness in life.
