So excited to share some of the things I love about my new home but for now, let’s get personal! dont forget to follow me on social media if you’re new insta: sabage_cabbage twitter: connieemartinez
stopp omg this video found mee, I have always dreamed of living in Mexico and attending school there even if it were to be temporary, family members also tell me " why do you wanna study in Mexico you have such great opportunities here" like Mexico has some very good universities and wonderful opportunities too!. So happy you found a happy place!
I have been contemplating leaving everything in Arizona and moving to Mexico with my 8 year old son. I’m scared AF but know it would improve my overall health (especially my mental health). I adore Mexico and the place I feel most at home. When I have to leave to come back to AZ, I cry. Your positive attitude and energy give me strength. I also love the way you speak, you had my attention. May you be blessed always!
Don’t do it Mexico is a 🕳 . I have backpacked entire Mexico thinking it was an amazing place. It’s not. The USA has higher standards on all levels. Your children will be better off in usa.
@@ayuanabradford3206 Jeez then maybe I'm late. When I chose to leave El Paso and go to a big city I chose New York City. But now I wanna go back. First of all to Texas which is where I'm from and have .ire access to Mexico. The US is so boring to me lately. Like ok, I need a change of pace.
I'm going to be staying long term in San Pedro in January. Can't wait to get there. I like how you discovered your own path instead of following the plans that "others" had for you!
Hi Annie!! How exciting, believe me you’re gunna love it!! I was thinking of maybe doing a “What I wish I’d known before moving to Monterrey” to help a lot of people who have reached out to me planning to come. I hope my channel can continue being helpful and thank you so much for commenting💕
Connie Jaquelíne Martinez that would be awesome. Please make it, I’ll watch! I’m moving to San Pedro Garza García. Do you know anything about that neighborhood?
It’s the wealthiest city of Mexico!! You’ll be surrounded by some of the richest people in all Latin America and it’s beautiful and very modern🤩 Definitely a great place to live congrats!!!
@@marioyepes9324 i lived there for a year and absolutely loved it. I am back in the States now because when I came back for a bit I met my now-boyfriend, but I’d move back in a heartbeat if circumstances allowed me to.
So I’ve lived in the valley for a good portion of my life and and been living in Austin for about a year now. And now I’m thinking of moving to Monterrey. And this video came up when I searched Monterrey lol. Cheers, great to know your loving it.
@Connie, that's awesome that you can give us a glimpse of what its like to live in Monterrey. I am currently looking to move to somewhere in Mexico and it might be Monterrey. School doesn't have to be that expensive, I did my first two years in community college and financial aid covered all the expenses. Then I did two years in UTSA for my bachelors, loan came out to 14K with the help of fin. aid. Most of the classes are available online so you can live in Mexico, take classes and get aid if you are a US citizen. Now I teach English online so I can live anywhere with a good income.
tabansi How exciting! Just yesterday i was telling a friend how i wish i could do it again just to experience the thrill of moving somewhere new and seeing the city for the very first time. It was astonishing, I wish you the very very best of luck on your new adventure 🥳❤️
I’m hating my life in the US. Seems all I do is work and pay rent, can’t even go out really. I have a lot of savings and I want to go to my grandmothers in Monterrey and go to college there (to learn a skill mainly) , seeing as all my cousins have left the rooms empty. So can I ask, is it REALLY dangerous??? My mind says it’s no more dangerous than any other city. Like my mother hasn’t even been there in 25 years (10 years for me) and I tell her about living with grandma and she says I’ll be robbed blind because of my horrible accent and people will assume I’m rich because they’ll know I’m American and wear designer things. But that shit happens in Dallas, NYC, LA, Chicago etc etc etc As a kid I didn’t have a phone or anything so I had nothing to worry about when going. So I’m curious what it’s like now in my moms homeland. 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
People can in fact immediately tell your american from your accent, but most people just ask why you came and how your doing. People love to hear my stories... but there is bad people out there. following basic rules like not leaving your phone in your pocket and being aware of your sorroundings does the trick just like in any other city ☺️
Hello! I am Mexican/American and visit Guerrero frequently. People can not only tell by your accent but your clothes as well. The important thing is to be respectful. I always do my best to greet people (within your comfort zone), but when I enter someone else’s space I do greet. People will probably want to know your story. So long as you don’t go out looking for trouble you will be fine. I have a feeling you will fall in love with it. Travel and enjoy this time!❤️
I know it's a little late but i want to answer. I live in Monterrey and I've been to many cities in the United States, and I feel as safe here than in U.S. cities. Still, apply common sense, don't go to sketchy areas, and always be on the lookout when walking around. Using a car is the safest method of transport, but the metro is safe and buses as well but there are exceptions. Overall, Monterrey does have some more unsafe areas than many cities in the United States, but just don't go into those areas, there aren't many things to do there anyways haha.
You are a very smart girl. Remember that in this life you follow or they follow you. You choose. Dios te bendiga y cumpla cada uno de tus sueños. Todo lo puedes lograr con dedicacion y diciplina. Saludos y cuidate mucho.
Thank you for sharing this, it is very encouraging. I was going to visit Monterrey in November, but like you said, people were so negative and telling me it's so dangerous to go to Mexico as a female. It's rather annoying. But now I see your video, I am definitely going to visit when this pandemic is over. It looks beautiful y quiero hablar con fluidez en español para 2021! Español y Mexico son muy bonita!!
If you don’t want to do cashapp, etc., you can always post a PO Box and that way people can send you stuff at their whim. I lived in Garza Garcia for 6 months years ago, for work (consulting company project), and enjoyed it. I actually lived in a hotel during that time, but was still able to get out and about to experience the city. It’s gorgeous down there and very modernized. I live in the suburbs of Chicago, don’t know much Spanish, and I was able to get around just fine.
I totally agree!! Spanish isn’t a necessity at all, most people here have some beginning level of english as well so it’s easy to communicate despite the language barrier💜... Definetly considering a P.o. box once i get into school and have to leave work 🥰
Hi Christina! Life here is a lot less expensive than the US especially in comparison to Austin. To live in a good community rent might be about $150 monthly, that includes all the services. Groceries for one person is about 20-30$ weekly and if you plan on bringing a vehicle gas is also about $30 weekly but that of course depends on how much you move around. If you rather travel in public transportation im sure $40 is more than enough to get you around for a month. The most challenging obstacles are things like opening a bank account, drivers license..etc especially with Covid restrictions. Hopefully i can film a video soon with some more details but I hope this was in some way helpful💕💕 Thank you for tuning in and always feel free to reach out to me
I live in Austin and I can tell you that Austin is the smallest big city lol. we lack many things a big city has and we have a ton of growing pains.... needless to say I think your decision was right.
This is a great video and I understand you. I am going through the same thing you are. I want to go to grad school at UT:Austin for MIS. Texas has always been a dream of mine, I don’t know why. I just want the nightlife there or maybe I just want to call myself a Texan. However, the constant financial struggles, I’d say I had a decent life here in the states but I don’t believe in college debt, the rising cost of living, and the American education system is wack, I wouldn’t want to raise my kids in those environments. Seeing the way my brother is getting his education, he doesn’t know half of what I learned when I was his age. Maybe I think that if I ever want to have family, putting kids in an international school in Mexico would be way better. MTY is a good choice, it’s one of the more modern ‘American’ cities. The more south you go, the more traditional and cultural it becomes.
The more i live here the more i have created my opinion about this topic: I think Monterrey is a great city to grow as an adult but i do not think i would like it to raise my children..it’s a little too fast paced but i’m a small town girl at heart so it just may be that. But the higher education system in the US favors the upper class unfortunately:(
I like your honesty and passion. I am considering moving to Monterrey and starting a tech service center for the US. I am a semiretired engr/MBA with 40 years in tech mktg/sales. How safe and where is it not safe? Is there a good base of employees for this business? Where would I locate it so it is in a good area and easy to commute to? Thanks.
How do I find housing, job, reliable transportation? I'm willing to move anywhere in the world, because America is not it! I currently reside in Arlington,Texas!
TexasAlabamaboi817 Hi thanks for commenting! I recommend looking for housing on facebook groups like Roomies Monterrey or Roomies UANL. I recommend living in San Nicolás, San Pedro, or Anáhuac until you get a hang of how life is here. If your looking for a job and are bilingual I can arrange something at my job where i myself just started working (it pays well and the only requirements are having a HS degree and being able to speak english and spanish) Transportation is super easy to get the hang of.. As long as you find a bus stop near your house you can get basically anywhere in monterrey... I hope this was helpful and i’ll be happy to answer any more questions!!
Connie Jaquelíne Martinez thank you so much for responding! The only thing I should start working on is my Spanish. I know the very basics, but not enough to carry a full conversation 😔
TexasAlabamaboi817 You’ll come along! My spanish is very accented, people know immediately i’m not from here but it opens the door for conversation and possibly meeting some great people. “Sin miedo al éxito”
I need you to open a go fund me, cashapp whatever. I’m sure a lot of us, like myself want to help you. You have a bright future ahead. I’m from Monterrey, Guadalupe to be exact. I’ve lived in Austin for over 25 years. I hold a BS from TX State and a Masters from UT. I’ve always dreamed of going to El Tec bc my mom went there but I always chicken out. I admire your courage and I’m rooting for you! Blessings!
sinc 88 Wow a girl can only dream to one day have such great academic achievements!! As for support, what would mean more to me than anything is to share my channel to others so that maybe one day it can become a little side hustle and help out with a thing or two💕 And El TEC is beautiful...who knows maybe up next for you is a doctorates from there😉 I would love to attend too!! Thank you so much for commenting with such blessings❤️❤️the best for us has yet to come
Connie Jaquelíne Martinez you got it girly, already subscribed and sent to family/friends. The world needs more young adults like you, focused and humble. Glad to have come across your channel. I can’t wait to watch you grown and achieve your dreams. Échale muchas ganas, tu puedes.
Hey so I'm planning to move to Monterrey as soon as I finish my bachelor's but I'm kinda freaked out cause it's a whole new place. Do you have any tips and stuff for like finding a place or just like surviving in general?
you are a great person. thank you for sharing your video and about your life which inspires others. can tell you are so smart and c are about others. keep enjoying your life and thanks for making a difference to others out there. would be cool to take a culinary journey maybe with friends and family and you can try all the cool foods. take care. -mike god bless you.
I also hope to move out of the US in the near future. Im currently a Senior at UT Arlington majoring in Accounting. After graduating, I'm planning on working for 2-3 years in one of the Big-4 Accounting firms and then getting transfer to San Luis Potosi.
Hi Alejandro! Sounds like you’ve got it all thought out. San Luis Potosí has some super beautiful areas 🥳 Ive met a lot of people from there and they’ve all been super friendly!
Why is Tik-Tok going nuts about wearing purple in Monterey right now? They said if the public shows up anywhere in the city wearing purple, that they are havying to deal with shootings.
Hey whats up? No vas a creer. I wanna move there too! Heehee. Im originally from Texas, have been in NYC for a long time and I'm sick of it now. So I wanna go to Monterrey. How is work down there? I still have no friggin clue. But Mexico has more to offer. I wanna experience it too.
There’s a lot of private tutors that may be able to do so, but most people in monterrey have some understanding of english so it’s really not too hard to get by ! and being bilingual opens lots of job opportunities
Oye , after you graduate do you plan moving back u.s ? Solo digo because schooling is not recognized here u.s? And you won't be able use it here. From what I can remember. Hechale ganas desde Houston
Rick Hi thank you so much for commenting! 🥳 to be able to work in the US i believe there’s a validation exam and of course buying the state and national license but i’m not really sure if that’s the goal... in fact im not really sure what’s the goal😂. I guess I would like to travel and i’ve always pictured myself living in italy so maybe i’ll aim for the moon and fall along the stars
i live pretty close to San Nicholas, in Escobedo. Honestly i think its safer than the US😭✋ but still there are creepy old men here so just be carefull:)
I am just watching this and I understand you a 100% because i am moving now to Coahuila for the SAME personal situation college (UTA) was getting to hard financially to me so now I am kind of scary because Ima finished my education in Mexico
Hi! Do keep in mind you’ll have to do some revalidation for your already earned credits and it can have some costs :) probably still a more inexpensive option but it might help to do some research before hand. Goodluck!!
@@conniejaquelinemartinez1525 More people wear masks in Mexico than in the United States. In the U.S. there's way too many *me* minded Donald Trump supporters who feel they don't have to wear masks. My guess is most of Monterrey's residents hate Trump with a passion.
R McElhaney You’re absolutely right! People really try to enforce thats masks here no matter the environment. In buses, at stores, etc... Definitely following rules much better that US
Did you apply to UNAM or el Tech? If you get in you'll love UNAM, my wife is from there and many of here family went there .. great university. Plus once you graduate your English language will help you land a great job. Of course the tacos off the hook, for mountain climbing go to Chipinque. And yes .. once COVID is under control, the night life and concerts in MTY like no other! You are so young and brave, take your time and enjoy this time in your life. Make a lot of guys friends you will need escorts when going out at night, Mty Mexican men are very protective of the female friends. Lastly, right now all inclusive flight, hotel, and food to Cancun are super cheap .. take advantage. And make it a point to fly to Cuba from Mty, super cheap and fantastic place to visit. Hmm, I think I said enough .. God Speed!
There’s a really big connotation that mexico isn’t a safe place, but it’s just like any other country. Be alert, stay in good environments, and enjoy the ride. So far i haven’t experienced anything to make me say otherwise ;)
I am Bolivian American. I will stay in the US because I am born in the US. I can visit different Spanish countries or the world. That‘a for me as an Bolivian-America. Gracias 🙏 and hope you find your passion. Not a lot of people in Spanish countries doesn’t have the same opportunities. I hope you follow your passion queen 👑
Thank you for making this. I want to move to Monterrey or somewhere else in Mexico, but my mom keeps worrying about my safely. I think I'll just send her this, haha
You’re good lol. As a whole it’s about as safe as New York, so like any big city, don’t walk alone at night, don’t go into dangerous areas and you’re good. If you want to get more specific, let’s say you go to the San Pedro municipality, which is the most comfortable area, but also the most expensive (Richest city in Latin America, very posh), Well it’s literally safer than Finland which says a lot
I love your vibe! Im from mty to whenever you want to climb el cerro de las mitras, the cerro de la silla or the sierra madre give me a call!! I would love to take you!
Hi! You actually don’t need to know to much spanish. The majority of people here have some level of english education and all college grads can actually speak spanish and a little bit of a third language as well !😌
Connie Jaquelíne Martinez great to know I want to take a bus trip there for a few days. To buy some affordable clothes and eat and relax. Any areas you suggest I do research on
Girl but is it safe? What about the jobs good pay? I forgot my Spanish lol my moms family is from Monterrey but she came to USA in her 19 chase her dream. Oh the irony and Now I wanna go live over there and visit and do stuff love the open country. I heard so much stories of rapes, violence and kidnapping trafficking. But really think about it Thas mostly everywhere. Thanks for sharing
How awesome! My dad was in the Mexican military and he definitely has some really adventurous stories to tell and because of it he got to travel through most of mexico. Best of luck on your coming journey☺️
I don’t pretend i only speak english at all :)in other videos i’ve mentioned i actually work in a bilingual call center, am trying to improve my spanish, and have even briefly spoken in such but thanks for watching my videos! 💕
Why you left América?? Well, if you áre in México you still áre in América.....to leave América you need to move to europe or any other territory out of the american continent. Do u get that???
people call the US america too because the US is so powerful that california has more gdp than mexico and canada combined. that’s just 1 US state that beats 2 neighboring countries.
@al carr i know it’s run by the democrats and their shitty policies that’s why i’m moving to texas. speaking of texas, texas has a gdp of 1.8 trillion.
@@Laking1234 Hey guys, i’d appreciate maybe not getting into politcal fights in the comment section. I try my best to not offend anyone and respect everyone’s beliefs and would appreciate the same from everyone else. Thanks for watching and i hope you continue to enjoy! 💕
"Why I left America to move to Monterrey Mexico" You didn't leave America, México is in America, Panamá is in América, Bolivia is in América... welcome by the way¡¡
Normal Americans don’t move to Mexico at a young age who aren’t from there. You parents must be from Mexico and you must be Mexican American. You should state that from the start. This “transition” isn’t so hard being that you look Mexican, fluent in Spanish, and have family there in mexico. Stop misleading ppl. Also Monterrey is in america
