Why I Love Canson Mixed Media Sketchbooks 

Why I like canson mixed media paper the best: 1. Blue 2. Good texture 3. (Mostly) durable 4. Versatile! They work with pretty much every medium I use!

Cansons XL sketchooks are amazing! They are very affordable and theres so many types. Such as Mix Media, Drawing, Sketch, Watercolor, Marker, Bristol, And so many more! Amazing, highly reccomend.

This sketchbook seems really popular I've seen a lot of people use it , I need to try it sometime too

It’s honestly really good 1. The price 2. The texture 3. The thickness

Its thick enought where i can use both sides!!! It also works well with my inks and is not to heavy to carry. Some of my spiral bounds from other brands that broke a bit but this has not done that. The back page is cardboard so i can even draw on the back! This is my favorite sketchpad of ones i have tried.

I just got this sketch book a few days ago. I love it. It's great with pencil and can take light watercolors. I prefer spiral bound and the perforated pages too.

I love the canson wc paper. It is the best paper I have found that is cheap enough that I don't feel like I am wasting money using it to practice. I am definitely going to try out the mixed media for less water heavy stuff. I didn't know it was perforated. That makes it even better. For the record: strathmore makes wire bound wc journal things with their 400 series paper. Idk if it comes as big, and it is not perforated. It can definitely take some water though.

I lovvvee those skecthbooks so much! Like you had said, it's paper is not as good as watercolor paper, but it's still works for it! It curves up a bit, but that's all. Pretty much every other media works great on this sketchbook! it even has 60 sheets which is soooo nice. I currently am using like, my 6th canson sketchbook XD

I always like seeing why people love supplies I hate. This paper doesn’t work for watercolor or color pencil when I use it, although it does work ok with ink filled water brushes, pen, and pencil. I really love the Masters Touch mixed media books which are also wirebound and the same price with 40% off or they go on 50% sales at least once a month

I got one from Walmart yesterday. Cant wait to try it. I have alot of other sketchbooks but I cant use watercolor because the paper starts breaking down. Its totally sucks 😭😭😭😭

I just got this on eBay for like $7.50 or so. I thought I was only getting one sketchbook but they sent me 4! I don't know if it was a mess up or what. The listing doesn't mention anything about multiple. Idk but I'm not complaining. 😜

Would love to try it as they seem popular but they are very difficult to get in the UK and more than twice the price. That size is about £12 or £15.50 mail order (inc postage) if you can get it. I do like the American size formats, over here everything is either A5, A4 or A3, each one twice as big as the former, that means there is very little choice when it comes to a convenient everyday sketchbook - A5 is a bit too small and A4 it a bit too big to carry around. I really love those 7x10s - It's a funny world, we Brits are all metric but us artist still love our inches.

I really like the Canson mixed media books as well. The paper is amazing especially for pen and water media. But funnily enough I really dont like spiral bound sketchbooks. Matter of preference. But the perforations are amazing! But that said the Moleskine watermedia landscape is my fav!

I keep coming back to this one especially with an arsenal of Stillman and Birn. Have you tried the Canson mixed media Rough? I am digging that now. I could only find it at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

I've heard that Canson has since changed this paper in that it now has a slicker surface and not textured, maybe thinner as well? Bummer.

I’ve seen people having trouble with their pages falling out of these books , has anyone had these problems with these sketchbooks?

I personally really dislike the watercolor paper of the same brand and unfortunately I tried that first and figured SURELY the mixed media won't be better for watercolor. Its not even designed specifically for it. But I LOVE this little mixed media book for watercolor !!!

Do you know if this paper can handle alcohol based markers? I can't find any paper that won't completely bleed through or feather after layering :/ Any recommendations or ideas on what type of paper to look for?

It's affordable in your country but not here 😂 I need to skip maybe 2-6 weeks of not having snacks at a canteen to buy Canson Sketchbook but I wanna try using it though. Seen and heard a lot of positive things about it so I'm hoping it works with me 😂😀

Please,I've just watched a video here on RU-vid, which shows that this paper has a linear texture on it, which looks and works really awfull and makes the paper, useless for pencil drawing. That just stoped me from ordering this paper for the 1st time, as it was suggested to me, for coloured pencil use. He had the A4 version with the spiral on the top side. Did anyone else had the same experience with this paper? Thanks in advance

Do watercolor pens bleed through it?

Hi! I'm a beginner in watercoloring and just about to try watercolor with crayola markers (by putting the ink on a palette, put a water brush on the ink, and coloring my pages). But I'm super confused of which one is better: Canson Mix Media or Canson Watercolor? Thanks :)

From my experience, the sketch book is great, and it is really good with Marker and watercolor (such as paint) but, the hinges just came out randomly and ALL of my papers and art work fell out...I would give this 6/10 honestly, but hopefully this didn't effect the way of you guys buying it, it's great but be more careful about the hinges, Idk what happened.

Question: do you know if this has the same "parallel lines" texture as the heavier 300gsm version? I don't think it does, does it? Reason being, I can't buy this in Australia, have to order it online sight unseen...

I actually already bought one for myself a while back. But didn't use it until I bought some watercolor recently. I watched some videos, and I noticed that... is this sketchbook supposed to be used on only one side? Is there a difference on the other side, it's not supposed to be used or something? Maybe sketching is okay?
