Thanks man! It wasn’t an easy video to make from a technical standpoint. So I appreciate you saying that! I hope to see you in the future on other videos!
6:26 lolll I remember being in the computer lab and printing off articles and Wikipedia pages for games and taking them home so I could read them on my own time.
I sold my copy of New Vegas over a decade ago without even playing it because I always thought it was an inferior product to Fallout 3. Come to find out it's actually one of the greatest Fallout games of all time and watching the TV series peaked my interest enough to go out of my way to find an old ps3 copy and playing the hell out of it lately 🎮
I'd say one of the greatest games of all time in general. I had a similar but not exact experience with GTA Vice City as a kid. All I wanted was GTA 3 and Vice City sat on my little shelf for like over a year because I thought it would be bad for no reason. Then I finally played and was mad at myself for ignoring it so long.
I remember when I was a kid, the internet was still kind of a niche thing. Only like 3 people in my neighborhood had it. I can't speak for others, but seeing a computer was like looking at space age technology and to my friends and I, the internet was this wild west. Crazy to see what the landscape of the internet is like these days.
Dude I feel so bad for you, I was the same age as you when FNV came out, when it was announced I couldn’t play Fallout 3 anymore. I watched the videos every day just waiting for it to release. I remember the day it released I begged my sister to take me to get it because she had her license and my parents were still at work. One of the best games ever made
No need to feel bad man! Things have worked out alright as the years have gone on. It's nice to see how many people can relate though! I grew up quite poor and in my teen years I lived in an area where people were known for their wealth and success and other kids my age were living quite exorbitant lifestyles. So it was rough a lot of the time not even being able to get myself one videogame or something like that because money was tight.
I am not blind to why you would feel that way. AAA Games have been hot garbage for a while. But there are plenty of good or even great games out there still and hopefully. More on the horizon. I always encourage optimism, but cautious optimism. I don’t know what games you have played before or your age bracket, but I am always happy to recommend some of my favorites. If there is something there you haven’t played before, you might find something worth trying and something new to love.
@@ratedjentertainment Most of all I love RPGs such as FNV, VtMB, Arcanum, Planescape, i.e. games with atmosphere and freedom that trust the player's intelligence.
@@Heyoka86 try Dragon Age: Origins if you haven't played it before. That game is a bit dated in terms of mechanics, but the world building, characters, story, and DLC are fantastic. I put it on par with New Vegas.
When i was a kid i would go on official game websites to save screenshots and i would ask my dad to print them at his work cause color printers weren’t common back then.
I used to save them on my PSP and stare at them constantly. When I was even younger than that, I used to cut out pictures from Game Informer and scotch tape them to my wall.
Yeah! I know my let’s play content isn’t the most compelling stuff, but I enjoy making it. This kind of more tightly edited and scripted content will become more common in the future. At the very least I will be finishing my Starfield series.
Such a high quality video, I was surprised you were a small channel, you deserve way more subs. I hope your channel blows up with your amount of work you put into them.
Thank you! I am glad you liked it! These videos are certainly not easy to make, at least not easy for me, I am not a skilled editor in the least. If you enjoyed this, I have a few other videos of a similar nature. One for Oblivion, Dragon Age: Origins, and ESO (sorta). If you watch them, let me know what you think, I would love to interact with you in those comment sections. We also have a small but fun little Discord! Feel free to join and chat with us!
Thank you! But let’s talk about more important matters. What character do you play? What’s your build and what faction do you join? I am getting some Yes-Man vibes here. You strike me as someone that wants to rule Vegas themselves.
Great video. I played through new Vegas alongside one of my good buddies who was playing it. We chilled in Xbox party chat grinding this game out for days. Core memory for sure
Thank you! I appreciate the compliment! As someone who isn’t a skilled editor or video creator. That compliment means more than you can guess! I am glad to hear about you and your friend. Sitting there and chatting about finding unique locations or places they may not have seen is always awesome. It really makes you feel like rugged Wastelanders.
This is very high quality and entertaining for any channel but especially a smaller one like yours. I hope you continue to others like Fallout 4 or your opinions on Starfield and why it fell short.
I will certainly continue to do other videos. I am currently writing out the video for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Though my feelings on Starfield may not be as negative as you think. For fear of earning your ire, I quite like Starfield. And I literally feel like the only person on Earth who does. Now, all that said, thank you for this wonderful compliment! I hope you feel like subbing and I genuinely hope to see you on another video!
Whata a spectacular video. I'm playing Fallout New Vegas now for the first time (my first Fallout) and it's been absolutely amazing. I'm very excited to dive deep into this story and be one of those elders who has a lot of stories to tell about the Mojave Wasteland. And your video made me even more excited, thank you very much
I am glad you're enjoying New Vegas and welcome to the Wasteland! I wish you many great adventures and many amazing memories! If you want, consider joining our Discord in the description! We'd be thrilled to hear about your adventures in the Mojave Wasteland!
Fallout New Vegas is so great even today I play it on my Falcon model 360 and it's so nice to have the discs and all the DLCs included I wish more games included DLCs on a physical disc after they were released and you did not require Internet to play every new game
Man, this is a truly nostalgia laden comment. I am glad you have many great and fond memories of New Vegas. What is your preferred faction or path to take in New Vegas? I’d be eager to to hear what your favorite is.
It something missing from fallout in general all of the bestheda games we start as a vault dweller exploring the wasteland great premise but its been 200 year's society's and factions are going to start growing i felt with new vagas you were deciding the future of America But bestheda wants to release the same game over and over again and the world doesn't progress What i want for a fall out game is good story telling and i want my decisions to have weight and for the general plot to advance
I felt that way about 3 and 4 rehashing the parent/child story. Only for the show to quite literally do it again. Not once, but twice, between Lucy AND The Ghoul. I understand your frustration about the world never progressing. I can’t say for certain as I don’t work at Bethesda, but my guess is their ideal Fallout scenario is almost immediately “post-war”. Not really post post apocalyptic like New Vegas. Maybe that’s why they destroyed Shady Sands? Certainly worth discussing.
Loved this video, very well done. I have to admit I'm not a fan of Bethesda games at all personally, but the way you told about your love not only for FNV but also FO3 was very captivating. Enjoyed the video a lot!
My friend! Thank you! From a fellow content creator that means the world! I hope you’re having an amazing day! Looking forward to working with you in the future.
I got the game for twenty dollars. The greatest twenty dollars I've ever spent. I once payed a hundred dollars to get into Universal Studios but I hardly ever talk about the experience because it's not that interesting, but New Vegas is something I still talk about 14 years later. Had they had another year of development, they might have created the greatest piece of art or culture in the last fifty years.
Man, getting NV for $20 is a serious flex. I’m glad you were able to enjoy the game and not actually have to break the bank for it. Having been to Universal once myself (almost 10 years ago) I did enjoy it, but that’s pretty funny you mention it, because I am 99% sure I’d rather play New Vegas again than go back to Diagon Alley 😂 If they had an extra year to crush bugs, expand the Legion and Mr. House Quest lines, it would easily be the greatest RPG ever made. While my favorite RPG is a fluid ranking, New Vegas is always a serious contender, with just a little extra time to cook, it would’ve been no contest. I think it’s a testament to the design philosophy, skill, and passion of the devs at Obsidian that despite some of New Vegas’ glaring flaws and release issues, it is still (almost) universally beloved and adored among the fan base. With the show’s popularity. I genuinely hope they get another crack at Fallout.
I made the mistake of playing new vegas as my first fallout game, I just can't get into FO3 whenever I try to play it it just feels like a worse new vegas
I can understand that. I love F3 because it was my first Fallout, but between the quality of life improvements in 4 and the superior story telling of NV, it is hard to go back to F3.
I reccomend playing tale of two wastelands. Basically merges fallout 3 and NV into one game. There's also an entire mod community just around TTW with many of them focused on improving fallout 3
Thank you! I didn’t know that! Have you been to actual Vegas before or is that just some random trivia you know? EDIT: Love your name by the way, Jordan really is the GOAT. I grew up on stories of the Piston’s Original Bad Boys team having to double and triple team him just to have a chance at winning. Dude was a menace on the court.
@@ratedjentertainment yeah if you go to Vegas one of the first things you see is the strat it’s 1000 feet tall and the northern most part of the strip. The other hotels take inspiration from other hotels but they are mostly unique
DUDE! Thank YOU! I am overwhelmed by the love and support on this video! It's pretty crazy considering I only expected like 50 views, and that was on the higher end. Hopefully one day I will have 100k Subs. I expect to hear from you on that day!
Great video Bro, really Nice content, i Just finish fallout 3 and a I love It, it was my first experience with the fallout series, and now i'm going to start New Vegas, any tips for a first run? The game layout is quite the same of FO3, but i'm kind feeling a bit Lost like the first time playing F03 without any guide . Btw: The soundtrack, radios and envoirenment feeling of ALL old western elements is Just amazing, i love this! 🤠.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to comment, congrats on finishing Fallout 3! Did you play the DLC as well? Fallout 3 has some truly stellar DLC. As for tips on New Vegas, yeah, I have a few. There isn't a ton of level scaling in this game, at least not as evidently as Fallout 3 or Oblivion. There are some areas of the map that are much harder to deal with at lower levels because extremely high level monsters are there purposefully. I don't want to give spoilers because it's a game that is best experienced blind. But find the areas early on and make sure to avoid them. If you are looking for tips on builds, I can't help you there, I am not that technical when it comes to games. I just pick a weapon and go to town on everyone.
@@ratedjentertainment Thanks Bro, yes i've played of all of them, really like broken steel and the ad content of It, and the better Path they fixed to the Lone Wanderer, the Point Lookout and ALL Lovecraft elements of Dunwitch history and the map and envoirenment of Maryland is amazing, and my favorite was history of The Pitt with all Mad Max references, and special loots, it's a really nice DLC. Thanks for the tips, i guess you're right, i can handle this, just want to find better weapons that'ts all. I'll watch for more videos, sucess for your Channel, keep cooking!! 🍀.
I think most rpg fans have a handful of games they play on repeat, for my it's dragon age origins (sometimes the sequels) fallout new vegas, and now baldur's gate 3
@@ratedjentertainment oh man, I have a lot of complicated feelings about the dragon age sequels.. Dragon age 2 I think was massively held back by it's tight 2 year development cycle, along with the misguided decision (in my opinion) to spend a lot of that time reworking the combat system. I absolutely despise the "dialog wheel" that bioware started doing, and dragon age 2 implemented it the worst of of any of their games, most likely due to time constraints. The companions all kind of feel like background noise since you don't really have a hub area where you can really get to know them, and they feel pretty shallow overall, as well as not being able to equip them with armor. My only complaint with the story is that it felt pretty rushed and railroaded compared to origins As for inquisition, again my biggest complaint personally is the combat system. Feels like they tried to have their cake and eat it too being a half-assed action rpg that felt more clunky than any of the previous games. I think the main thing holding inquisition back, though, is that like 60% of the game is completely pointless filler content. The wait times at the war table and the power requirements for missions only serve to make the game longer than it needs to be, but I think inquisition is the second best in terms of writing and player choice
@@brodieorr5393 This is an odd one for me, I agree with you fully and disagree all at the same time. I agree about DA2 being held back by that Dev Cycle. Knocking it out of the park like they did with Origins, then forcing a sequel like that was genuinely unfair to the BioWare, and the DA Team especially. Despite some of the glaring flaws of DA2, I always have enjoyed. It was in my opinion, a step back in a lot of ways, and a step forward. Not being able to armor your companions was a very bizarre thing to me, but in some ways, it freed my brain up a bit to just kinda relax and enjoy the story as it unfolded. There were story moments I felt were very compelling and impactful for the setting. So a little less RPG management helped me find the more poignant moments and it sharpened them for me. Inquisition actually made me appreciate DA2 a lot more because DA2 almost felt like a prologue. Obviously that is how it was intended, but it felt even more so now. Where Hawke and Corypheus would've been lore characters or NPCs, now they have a little more weight and impact to them. Inquisition had an interesting story and compelling narrative, that I think was wrapped up well with Trespasser, but man, did they really fumble the ball with the execution of it. So much of that game just felt like fetch questing, and that was a bummer.
@@ratedjentertainment yeah I totally agree. I like the story being told throughout all 3 games. I like them all, for sure. I'm very critical of the things I love, I've probably played both the sequels at least a dozen times each, so it's not like I dislike them. I just feel like they could've been so much better, but I think they've been heavily mismanaged by EA
@@brodieorr5393 HEAVILY MISMANAGED BY EA! YES! For what it's worth, I wasn't taking any negative points you made as some kind of personal animosity. I understand. I too, am critical of DA2 and Inquisition and plenty of other games. Not because I hate them, but because I love them, and want them to be better and want them to not fail so I can continue enjoying them. I appreciate this conversation. Thanks for taking the time to share with me.
In the day I put off playing fallout nv after completing 3 for the 10 billionth time. The gambling covers and what not I saw turned me off. Not a gambler. But. I got bored of 3 and picked up the platinum edition and the hard cover guide (just cause I was into 3 so hard) and started playing. I didnt like it at first but after a while I realized it was much better than 3 in every way. I never used guns in f3, only energy weapons. With all the different types of ammo guns became much more fun. The quests were better and then I played dead money and jizzed my pants. It's still the best fallout change my mind.
@@WillLauzon I’ve had games I put off playing because I was only interested in one game. When I was a kid, that was GTA3 I had Vice City for like a year before I decided to actually try and boy was I pissed at myself for avoiding it so long.
Definitely the best game in the series despite the broken Bethesda engine. Obsidian are truly miracle workers. Currently playing through Pillars of Eternity again and I forgot how damn good that game is. Obsidian are the top tier of games development now.
@@ratedjentertainment Really looking forward to Avowed. Having been a big fan of Baldur's Gate 1+2 as a kid, I didn't expect to get so invested into Obsidian's completely new IP and world of Eora (Pillars, Avowed), but they are just so damn good at writing and immersion, that I am more interested in Eora than Faerun at this point. Especially since I hate Larian's writing and don't believe Baldur's Gate 3 should even be a thing lol.
@@Molotov_Milkshake I have tried so many times to play Pillars, but CRPGs just not my style. But I have purchased it many times over the years simply to support Obsidian. Also, your sentiment on BG3 is shared by a friend of mine and fellow content creator. I was on a call with her last night and she shared similar thoughts on BG3
@@ratedjentertainment Understandable, they are quite niche in that regard, but do bear in mind that in every sense other than being isometric point+click, New Vegas is a CRPG at its core. It's that design philosophy that makes it so deep, rewarding and fun. It's good to hear I'm not alone with regards to Baldur's Gate 3, considering that game is being hyped to the stratosphere by people who've never even played Baldur's Gate 1 or 2. I know several people who are obsessed with it, and they are only into it because of Divinity Original Sin (games which have some fun elements IMHO, but the writing and RPG aspects are extremely weak). You should really consider just sticking with PoE and giving it a real chance. And of course there's always Avowed and Outer Worlds for your FPS RPG needs too.
@@Molotov_Milkshake I never count a game out. I played Pillars a few times, I was into the lore and the world, but the gameplay loop never stuck me. I always got to a certain point in the story, and I always lost traction, no matter how hype I was to play or anything. I am not saying I won't ever play it fully, I will say though that I don't see myself doing it any time soon. Though you are a swell ambassador to the game.
Fnv is just one of those games i always come back too. I recently played tale of two wastelands mod combines 3 and NV into a single game and dont get me wrong i still love f3 but its writing and major flaws really stand out alot more being played right next to nv. It was like i like fallout 3 but i couldn't wait to get to nv by the end of 3s story and dlc.
I have done a long form playthrough like that many years ago. Where I played F3 and all DLC, NV and all DLC, then F4 and all DLC. While they all had their ups and downs, New Vegas was pretty much nothing but ups. My only real gripe is lack of Legion quests and Legion territory to explore. Would be nice to see more of their culture and society outside of the military.
@@ratedjentertainment if I had to say my one gripe with nv is you can't play past the end of the story. It would have been nice if they had more time to finish alot of the cut content seeing just how things changed in the fallout of the battle of the dam
@@SoulshadeVr101 oh dude. Totally, the feel of Lonesome Road and some other DLC do feel like post-game content. It is a great shame that the Courier's story ends in at Hoover Dam. With Microsoft wanting to capitalize on the success of Fallout's TV show, another Obsidian game isn't out of the question. Lets see what happens man!
You do understand that the Fallout series didn't begin with Fallout 3, right? And that the pedigree of New Vegas' strengths as an RPG and a work of fiction are right there in the first two games? For players who started with these titles, New Vegas was a return to form.
It is weird that a huge chunk of the map is empty and not even exploitable. I’ve always thought that. The far west and far eastern parts just empty and untextured messes. But when you only have 18 months to develop a game on an unfamiliar engine, I can forgive things like that very easily.
@@ratedjentertainment yeah they didnt have enough time I guess. I still love new vegas feeling a bit more than F3 but the lack of interior ‘’dungeons’’ and bobbleheads to collects was a miss for me personnaly. Also I think theres just not enough ghouls and barely any super mutants camps . But hey its a masterpiece anyways.. plus with all the great dlcs this game is top tier
@@guillaumeinjjuz1744 on the Super Mutant front, I would’ve enjoyed seeing some NCR Rangers that were Super Mutants. As in the lore that wasn’t unheard of. I hope you have time for gaming soon my friend! Take a day to dive back into the Mojave for me!
Ok so i have seen this a lot with Comments but Isn't it a little weird that you get called a Vegas fanboy If you criticize, fallout 3 and 4 And compare them to new vegas For the lack of rpg elements, Choices in the story/ Player choice
I meant structure that technically doesn't exist in real life. Like the Washington Monument or something. I will need to be more specific about my wording in the future. It's easy to see how it's your favorite game. You are clearly a person of supreme culture and acumen.
@@ratedjentertainment it's truly DEVASTATING to discuss the themes of New Vegas and KOTOR 2 only to see blank faces staring back at you. Its just sad to see IPs like Fallout and Star Wars reduced to "HEY LOOK AN ACTION SCENE" "HEY LOOK GUYS IN ARMOR"
I never said they weren't. I haven't played 76 so I can't ever definitively comment on if it's great or terrible. If you are just sharing your opinion in general, outside of responding to this video, I will say that I agree about Fallout 4. That's my go to Fallout game.
@@ratedjentertainment whilst I dont like the pay to win aspect of 76, its references to real life west virginia and its culture, myths and legends such as the mothman are cool details that bring out the passion some of these devs had for the title. As for fallout 4, the clear inspiration from the book ‘’ Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep ‘’ shows a more futuristic side of fallout, witch is unique to the title.
@@anormalfishfan3656 I don’t play 76 because it isn’t my style of game, but I would never doubt the passion of the devs. Especially if the community is still thriving.
I have to disagree there. I’ve played vanillla New Vegas as an Xbox player for over a decade and loved every second of it. I can’t speak to the modding scene as I have yet to really dive into it, but I’m keen to learn more about it, do you have any mods you suggest? Either quality of life improvements mods and patches or anything more substantial? I’d love to try anything out.
I played NV for the first time almost 4 years ago and i absolutely hated it. After completing everything i knew about, putting no effort into the dlc (used god mod and no clip 90% of the time) i dropped it and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I got a very strange and surprising itch to give it ago mainly because of mod show cases. After modding my game to my preference I can confidently say that I'm actually have a lot of fun solely because of mods making the general gameplay a lot better, smoother and just enjoyable to play on top of anti crashing mods it's a blast to play and i definitely appreciate the game more than I used to. (The rabid fanboys are a huge negative though)
I am glad you’re enjoying it! It always sucks to buy a game and find out you don’t like it or that it’s just an objectively bad game. That’s a feeling I know all too well. I gotta say the gameplay is aging poorly for NV. I used to play it a lot of my Xbox 360 and Xbox One, respectively. But coming back to it years later on PC has shown me how unstable the game actually is. Believe it or not, I know people talk about a lot of Bethesda games being buggy and how New Vegas is one of the worst offenders, but up until I played these games on PC, I never really had any real issues.
13:00 That abysmal shitshow destroyed everithing and just a big stinky pile of contradiction to the original real Fallout games, I refuse to accept it as canon!
That is certainly an interesting take. While I disagree, I am grateful you took time to share your opinion. I enjoy reading experiences that contradict my own. It’s good for perspective. I will say though, the loss of Shady Sands was a rough one. I didn’t like it and I still don’t now. But I cannot change it sadly. Canon or not, it doesn’t stop us from enjoying Fallout the way we want.
I don't think it's THAT big of a deal. It's basically on the same level as when Chris Avellone wanted to nuke San Francisco and have EVERYTHING restart back to "post apocalyptic" setting. And also the ending of the Lonesome Road DLC. New Vegas and the NCR were always going to be screwed.
There were a few lore breaks that annoyed me, not to mention the complete eradication of the NCR, but overall, I enjoyed watching it. How is New Vegas going for you? What kind of character do you play?
@@ratedjentertainment I play like I always play, the wild card. Which means I play the quadruple agent that claim to be on everyone sides as long as I can. Then I make a save that I don't touch and complete all 4 ending from that saves.
I was honestly bummed about the NCR at first, but the more I thought about it, the more it seems right. Like the NCR likely still holds the northern part of California at the least, and plus because they’re just trying to replicate the governments of the past, the theme of Fallout almost demands that they fall and rise and fall and rise. Because war never changes, if the governments don’t change, they’re doomed to fail
I suppose that depends on your metric. In terms of gameplay and mechanics, yeah, Fallout 4. The way they handled Power Armor, weapon crafting and upgrading, a total home run. But in terms of characters, story telling, and in my personal opinion, aesthetic, that has to be New Vegas all the way. I feel Fallout 4 lacks in that department, but introducing multiple factions to join was a step in the right direction.
