I have a VX550. They are great machines! Do add the spring loaded Vac Valve close to your machine’s intake opening. It prevents your vacuum from being damaged by a clogged pipe or hose. You adjust the settings, so that when the vacuum increases from a clog, the valve opens and saves your machine from overheating.

I have this NuTone but VX1000 model (220 volts with 2 motors.) . It's the best and among the most powerful central vacuum you can get. I had it since 2010 never complained. Changing the filter is extremely easy, just pull the bag down, throw it in the trash and install new one

You can't buy the VX1000 anymore, it's been discontinued for a while now. Stock up on the bags while you can because they're getting harder to find nowadays. I'd disagree that they're the best. Powerful yes but they didn't had a good reliability track record, plus there are other central vac units that are rather easier to change the bags out. I think these have a poor bag design. I would've never bought one.

Nice vid. I've got the same vac in my home, installed 2007. Just a heads up... you've got the bag installed backwards. Look at 4:22 & pause your vid. See that oval hole at the top of the cardboard? That wants to be slid into the REAR of the system. If you look, there's a little "catch" that that hole will hook on when you install the bag. Its purpose is that, when the bag is full & you pull on the cardboard corners to "release" the bag, that catch will then pull on the paper cover, covering the bag's hole & keeping (most) of the dirt/dust inside as you remove it from the unit. Yeah... it's a bit awkward to actually do the install & removal, but in any case, yep, that's the reason for that oval hole & why it needs to be installed to the rear. On my 16th year with my VX475. Actually bought a couple NOS vacuum heads to ensure many more years of excellent cleaning with this unit!

That motor doesn't sound very healthy, I would bet it's because of the bag design. These VXs' have known to be problematic and the bag changing is part of the reason why. Not to mention that the bags are paper which can also leak more dust to go into the motor and cause the bearings to sound bad like this one. Also you should NEVER vent your exhaust into the attic, that is a fire hazard I wouldn't even risk doing! Outside is the best way to vent the exhaust. I'll admit, NuTone used to sell good central vacs. But there has always been better than NuTone, I personally would not buy one.
