First car I drove around the farm was a series 3 in black called MUD. Absolutely loved it from the clonk of the gears to the tight cramped space driving it. I now have a Land rover defender 90 and I don't know what I'd do without it. The defender will be get you anywhere no matter what the challenge. Defenders never die that my friends is not a lie.
EU rules and the low Profit margins are largely behind the change, as is the lack models in North America, would at least wish they would continue to sell the Defender as a kit, its simply enough.
Without the real Defender model, Landrover will just be another car company relying on fashion to sell its products. Defender represents the reason Landrover exists. Massive towing capability and no nonsense off road capability making it the best off the shelf off roader money can buy. Stop Defender production at your medium to long term peril landrover!!! I wonder by just how much will old style defenders increase in value when this DC piece of crap replaces it in the showroom?
