On the mk6 gti's there's a fender mod where u take the screw out frm the top of the finder liner and tuck the finder liner under the metal that will help you wth the front if ur rubbing
The wheels on your GTI look great. I recently did a video showing how to do an oil change on a Mk6 GTI without needing to lift the vehicle up. It might help.
Nice I bought mine for 160k ik it’s a little high but it runs fine and my friend came with me since he owned before and knows about the car no lights on dash besides tire pressure low but that’s about it
Buy a good Bosch battery! Will save you in the end. Also check earth connection from battery to motor, it will corrode over time. Clean it or install a completely new earth cable (I had mine made at a welding company for different brand of car.) A bad connection or old earth cable can cause all kinds of weird complications, battery not charging, alternator seems broken etc Ow and the biggest issue, but you probably know this, the timing chain and timinig chain tensioner can go bad and if they do, do not start the car again until proper maintenance is done. (valves slamming into pistons carnage) The bad timing chain tensioner is actually a design fault from VW, but they never admitted this. It can have catastrophic consequences for your engine. Make sure to check the current condition at your VW dealer and if bad, replace tensioner, chain, gears and oil seals! (or if you have the knowhow yourself, replace it!)
Thats great information about the earth cable, I'll do some research and if it gets really bad I'll fix it. As for now its not too bad since its still warm out, but we'll see what happens when winter comes around. I'm praying I don't have the timing chain tensioner go bad on this thing, I'm handy enough to fix it myself but I don't have my tools when I'm at school so I might replace it this winter when I'm home, hopefully before it even has a chance to go bad.
Wish I saw this comment last month Replaced the alternator to find that I was still not holding voltage Found the wire from the fuse box back to the alternator was corroded and had to temporaily splice another cable till I found a replacement from Ebay VW says the part is on backorder.
Are you going to make a video on the after market stereo? I have been looking into it but not sure what I want to be looking for and want some feedback lol.
what intake/exhaust/downpipe are you running? looking to do the same to mine but don't know what brand to go with. also if you're planning on getting a tune, I would recommend getting one from 034. I ran an APR tune for a year, and then switched to 034 for the past 2.5. 034 doesn't make as much power (i think 20-30 less hp/tq) but it is so much more daily drivable, gas mileage is better, less random aggression when you're just trying to go from stop. I do feel a tiny difference from the drop in power, but the comfort is worth it to me.
I have an AWE touring catback, and everything else is stock on the exhaust. Very daily drivable, quiet at idle (after the engine warms up) but screams like a banshee when you step on it. I can't recommend it enough That's good to know for the 034 tune, I'll def look into it if I have the funds haha
