Information about EVANGELION (Source: Wikipedia):
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese mecha anime television series produced by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production, directed by Hideaki Anno and broadcast on TV Tokyo from October 1995 to March 1996.
Neon Genesis Evangelion received critical acclaim but also garnered controversy. Particularly controversial were the last two episodes of the show. In 1997 Hideaki Anno and Gainax released the feature film The End of Evangelion, depicting a different ending for the series.

I wanted to thank you for this video it made me think of this ending in a new light. It’s weird to think I first watched this show last summer when I was 24 and already a grown man.It was uncomfortable because watching Shinji ‘s introversion made me think of how I was when I was younger and it deeply affected me.Not necessarily to the point of tears but,I don’t know I feel like there is something so universal about Shinji’s struggle. It also made me realize that perhaps it was exactly what I needed when I was younger.Man it may sound silly to say but that filled me with regret about not watching it sooner even though I have known about it for quite some time. But watching your video made me realize perhaps it does not matter what age you watch it at, as long as you connect with a work or character in some way you are in a way opening up apart of yourself that you didn’t realize what was there.Anyways I might be overthinking it to some extent but I think that has been my takeaway from watching the show, especially End of Evangelion.

finally, a youtuber who gets it, or at least has thoughts similar to mine. EOE is not some bleak and depressing movie at its core (though it did eff up my mind when i first watched it around 2000, during my first year in middle school). shinji had the epiphany that life is worth living despite all the pain and suffering; but that doesn't mean he magically attained he skill to understand and connect with others which he admitted to his mom while he was being ejected from instrumentality and going back into the world. and yeah, it also shows the immediate post impact world, to remind people that even when you decide to become better or be a more positive person, the consequences of your past action or inaction still remain. so he chokes asuka in his confusion as to whether or not that is reality (since he did witness her fall to the eva series). he chokes her. but for the first time someone acknowledged him and gave him that one tender caress, that one moment of connection he was searching for his whole life, and that was enough to bring him to tears. curtains.

The reason Hideaki Anno made Shinji such a flawed and downright disgusting character in EOE is because he hated his audience for rejecting the original tv ending. And Shinji is the audience surrogate. He showed Shinji attempting to destroy that which he loves because that is exactly what he saw the fans as doing with all the death threats and insulting letters.

Honestly, For something that came out in the late 90s, The End of Evangelion really aged well especially with it's animation and story. Hopefully we can say the same about the rebuild film coming out in a few days

EoE has been my favorite piece of media ever made for the past close to 20 years. It's saved my life time and time again and kept me convinced to be in therapy and take my meds. When I feel trapped in my head, I think about what Yui said at the end: "anywhere can be paradise, as long as you have the will to live. After all, you are alive, so you will always have the chance to be happy." Those words have been an immense comfort throughout all the abuse and pain I've felt in that time frame. It's an absolute cinematic masterpiece. Visually stunning, emotionally gripping, beautiful and hideous in equal measures. Omedetou Anno-san

wtf I can't believe I cried because of Evangelion. Again. Dude that ending was perfect and I agree with that. Happiness, sadness, suffering, pleasure, all of our emotions aren't a fixed state, they come and go and they make us who we are, and they also bring us wisdom and teach us how to live and deal with life, and make us remember that life can be good and worth it even when we think all is lost.

Incredible video. Loved every second of it. I, as someone who struggles with depression for my entire life, can totally relate with everything you said. That's true that we, as human beings, need some sort of connection and recognition. We can't live without it. But the "funny" part is, that even IF we find some sort of happiness, we start to question ourselves: Do I really deserve it? Am I good enough? Maybe I need something/someone else? What if it's just a lie? Am I being deceived? Life is such a complicated thing. Relationships, job, family, friends, money, purpose. It's easy to get lost in all of it. But let's live each day the best we can. Take care, guys.

Yo great video man, your explanation of just our refusal to connect turning real people into essentially a fantasy goes deep as hell even with me personally, and also the segment about happiness, I feel like it ultimately comes down to if your a person who suffers from depression you need to focus more on connecting than happiness itself to reach some sort of contentment or fufilment honestly, avoiding real connection through obsessive fantasy only leads us way from forming real bonds and leads to more suffering , and chasing happiness which is itself an extremely fleeting feeling is a waste, we need to put out energy into seeking connection and be grateful for every moment and know we must fail and learn from our mistakes. Thanks for this man it made just realize a lot about myself, There is no ideal past and we have to accept the person we are and the mistakes we have made and adjust properly to move forward, Once you realize all the depression, anxiety, and failure was there for you to learn from it, you can stop beating yourself up and know there was meaning in it. I think that a lot of suffering is very self imposed and that once you change your perspective everything changes. The world isn't a fantasy or how we wish it to be, but that doesn't mean its not a beautiful place filled with connection and potential.

I found myself relating a bit to every character, especially Shinji's difficulty connecting with others, I love how they explored this because it helped me understand more about myself, as someone who also tends to feel isolated.

Thank you for making this video. I was deeply touched by Evangelion and EoE. Having watched both, I have to admit that the nihilism in EoE left me a little empty after I finished it. I assume that I grew more attached to the characters of the show than I would like to think. This is ironic considering one the of the central messages of EoE, and it is a deserved metaphorical slap to the face. Fantasy can't be a substitute for reality. Your videos helped me mentally digest it. You make a good point that in the final scene of EoE the hand caress is as pivotal to the scene as the final words, whatever the interpretation of the final words may be. I like how your more positive interpretation thematically ties EoE (and its final scene) to the original ending, rather than making them contradictory. I loved the theatre scene and its message to the viewers ("You can't replace reality with fantasy"), but I never connected it to the opening coma scene or the scene with Asuka at the start of the instrumentality like you did. This makes complete sense and makes me appreciate the film a lot more. Not only is this video emotionally touching, but this is also the best interpretation I've seen. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you.

I don’t know if you will ever see this comment but I want to thank you. When I first saw EoE after having watched the original 26 episodes I hated EoE. I could not accept an ending where Shinji just kept falling further and further down. I could never accept it after seeing him grow in episode 25-26. He had to succeed. I had forgotten about how broken and lonely Shinji really was after everything that had happened until episode 24 when the endings split. This video helped me recognize why Shinji thought what he thought and did what he did. You helped me to think about EoE in a different way and realize that even with Shinji growing he still has to struggle and that it can be really ugly. I am unsure of what to think but you made it possible for me to view it in a different way. I hope you can make some sense of this comment. Thank you

This review for End of Evangelion is the best research of the movie that has ever been made than any others that I’ve researched on the internet. Also, if I was in the movie and I was turned into lcl and after Shinji rejects the third impact and make everyone come back, I obviously would have come out of the lcl beach just like Shinji and Asuka did first. I would love to see an extended ending of this movie where we really see the other characters coming out of the lcl beach.

I say this to anyone who wants to criticize those who love Anime characters. Better off being a Weeb that loves something from another culture and wishes to enjoy what they enjoy without others harming them, than to be an Social Justice Warrior who despises everything about their own culture and tries to force change that would harm others.
