Planet Aquarium or Aquarium Pack for Planet Zoo | Why I don't want a Planet Aquarium Game | Frontier Developments announced 3 that they are working on 3 new Creative Management Simulation Games that will launch the upcoming years. Ever since, and maybe even before that, many people ask me what I think of a Planet Aquarium or that they would really like to see a Planet Aquarium. In this video we discuss my opinion of why I really don't like to see a Planet Aquarium as a separate game being released by Frontier Developments. Obviously, I am super curious to hear your thoughts about this as well. Would you enjoy a Planet Aquarium Game? Let me know in the comments down below! Much love, DeLady

I mean to be fair, whilst some aquariums are a part of zoos, a lot of them are their own attractions. Being bound to a zoo would mean limiting their space and what they can house as a result. There are plenty of species of sea life to justify a base game and plenty of packs. London’s Sea Life aquarium has 500 species alone and 14 different themes! I do understand the disappointment that they weren’t included in PZ, however I think their functionality and customisability could be limited if they were. Aquariums, particularly larger facilities, utilise attractions like rock pools, larger habitats for creatures like sea turtles or smaller terrapins and the larger species of sharks, educational shows, things like that. Truth be told, a Planet Aquarium game has a lot of potential. Customisation of coral reefs, tropical tanks, guest areas, etc. I don’t know if you’ve travelled to Sea Life London, but take a look at the map just to get a rough idea of the potential.

I agree with what you're saying, but there's nothing stopping the player from simply only using aquarium species in their park. It would just be so much more flexible.

Woa, woa. I think you have a totally different picture of what an aquarium game would look like. I’ve been excited about the concept not for dolphins, and orcas, and belugas, and turtles etc. (though that’s an awesome idea too, building large places for them similar to what PZ did with the polar bear) But what I would really enjoy is building the reef systems for saltwater life or making freshwater habitats too. Just think of how across all the continents there is such diverse biomes filled with many different flora and fauna. The same is so true of water life. First of all, there is fresh vs salt. It would be so cool to do river, creek, swamp, lake, spring ecosystems to show the different plants and fish and shrimp and snails and crabs that all live together in different kind of freshwater environments across the world with driftwood and rocks to create unique habitats. A slow moving warm water Asian creek is going to be different from a humid Florida swamp to a cold European river. And the seas and oceans and lagoons and estuaries around the world that are salt and brackish water, there is so much to play with there. Schooling fish, so so many corals, soft corals that look like plants, hard coral that look like living rock, the live rock covered in pink and purple algae, the shrimp, crabs, snails that are unique to saltwater. Fish found off the Florida coast aren’t found on the California coastline, different fish near Hawaii, Australia, Asia. So much diversity to play with. Also the guest experiences and viewing points, yes, not as much to do as Planet Zoo. But look at how difficult it is to transfer pc to console with such a huge game like PZ. We can’t get the completely full experience with the console because of the complexity meter limitations, from what I’m hearing, don’t know if that’s totally true. So, I don’t think we would see Planet Aquarium (if we see it) be as big a game as PZ. It wouldn’t have as much DLC, I don’t think. But I do think it’s worthy of being made. If it’s done right, it could be fun. And the water management thing, temperature, salinity, ph levels, etc. there’s a lot that goes into keeping water levels just right to keep fish happy. And different fish from around the world have levels they’re accustomed to. That could be implemented. But you’re right, maybe just on a harder setting. Also, maybe a rescue, rehabilitation, and release system could be implemented into the game as well. Maybe we only do see certain larger animals who have a better background story. Instead of frontier saying exotic pet trade or poached like with the animal market now there could be a story of this dolphin was caught in a net, this manatee suffered a propeller injury with scars to show for it. And maybe there’s a recovery gauge that is affected by habitat cleanliness, good food, vet care, stress levels from guests, and once that is all the way, we get to release back to wild. Might be a fun way to explore how aquariums and zoos do that kind of thing. Or who knows, maybe just maybe some of this is still in store for PZ and the new game we’ll see is Planet Resort or Planet Mall or Planet Restaurant or something instead and since PZ continues to have community support and is a money maker they could go on to give us the aviary and aquarium larger dlc bundles we’ve been craving 🤞

This exactly what I was thinking wrt DeLady's "lack of biomes" idea. It's a common enough mistake, but there are PLENTY of different ocean biomes, let alone freshwater, like you said. Also, rescue and rehab would be the best way to treat whales etc. in my opinion. having that and fleshed out stories for the animals is a great idea! I would also expect Frontier to do the research of not just talking to aquariums like Seaworld who benefit from very bad practices and taking that at face value, but talking to critics and experts to include paths forward for govs and the industry to BE ethical/ as ethical as possible.
@DeLadysigner
@DeLadysigner 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, obviously do know how diverse life under water can be with different eco systems and different biomes etc 😊 What I tried to say is that it all comes down to another underwater viewing and another, and another, and another 😅 I love building underwater viewings, but I doubt it will be fun if its pretty much the only thing you can do 😊 But could definitely be a lot more fun if these tiny animals like crabs and stuff are also habitat animals indeed (and not in some type of exhibit, obviously).. so it all really depends how far they go to give enough creative freedom 😊 We have played a few aquarium building games on the channel as well with a few different biomes, fresh water, salt water, black water, and after a few aquariums I noticed it became a bit boring fast (obviously those games were less creative freedom comparing to Planet Zoo), because I feel like once you have made a swampy aquarium, or a beautiful corals aquarium, crabs aquarium, etc, you maybe feel like it becomes repetitive fast? (Gosh, I hope this makes sense 😅) Its obviously not exactly the same as was a Planet Aquarium would be.. but with a bit of imagination we can obviously imagine how it would be creating these aquariums 😅
@DeLadysigner
@DeLadysigner 6 месяцев назад
Also indeed mentioned the rehabilitation. Frontier should definitely look into more interesting gameplay when it comes down to that including better background stories and stuff.. totally agree 👍 At the end of the day it also really comes down to players and what they enjoy doing and to make 😊 Looking at the small team working on Planet Zoo for years and now they even fired one of their creature animators.. Definitely wouldnt count on big packs like that Im afraid 😕 As much as I would love to hope with you.. I doubt they have any big plans in store still for Planet Zoo.. 😕

@@DeLadysigner I hear you on that, but I think the same thing could have been said of a zoo game. How many desert, forest, coastal, jungle, mountain habitats can you build? Doesn’t it get boring? But that’s not the case. At least for me. That part never gets old. But yes, there’s only so much under water viewing vs top-down options with aquatic life. I do hear you there. I just want to build a reef and see like a whole school of quirky blue tangs swim by and little gobies and shrimps sneak out from under rocks etc! 😊

I would have been more excited for let's-say Planet Aqua if it were announced for a 2022 release than if it were announced today. The investment and overall financial performance of the studio is a huge worry, and it's absolutely showing in their roster (I mean seriously, who the hell wants another forgettable Jurassic World game??). I feel like an aquarium simulation made by the studio _now_ would not have the same love and quality put into it as Planet Coaster or especially certain aspects of Planet Zoo had. We'd get a game with a functional-but-oddly-lacking base release, and then the announcement of quarter or even bi-monthly $20 DLC releases. Sharks. Otters & Turtles. Orcas & Dolphins.

As a player i get the same urge but as someone who programs and has a pretty solid understanding of what adding flying and aquatic creatures could entail im hesitant with how they would add birds and fish to planet zoo. Birds obviously would need the flying mechanism which is not a small undertaking to add into an already existing framework, but idk if planet zoo would be equipped for fish either? Sure we have underwater viewing galleries and swimming already but for a fish tank to be full there have to be ALOT of fish in a small area. Im not sure the current planet zoo is equipped for that? Like when my park is very full i see the people glitch, walk through each-other etc. the animals include a-lot of data in the background that the visitors don’t have it could slow down the game alot.
@MysticDragonForce
@MysticDragonForce 6 месяцев назад
But they were able to do the flying mechanic fine in JWE2... Is there something that that cannot be translated over to PZ?
@elizabethmaspoch-os1uq
@elizabethmaspoch-os1uq 6 месяцев назад
@@MysticDragonForce I cant say for sure Id have to see the architecture of the framework to speak with any certainty but in JWE the habitats, stalls and environment work very differently and don’t have the same customization as in planet zoo. Specially for the aviaries you cant just draw whatever pattern you want for them they limit you to these overlapping circle shapes and the flying mechanism is probably why. Cause flying in itself is not the issue since planet zoo already works in a 3d coordinate system if you can make a monkey climb you can make it fly. But the traversable area is defined by whats available to climb its additive you assume the monkey is on the 2d plane know as the “ground” until you add something to the ground. The flying area is subtractive you can fly anywhere till you put something in its way to limit it and thats where im not sure if they can do that. Cause whats to keep the birds from glitching and showing up on the other side of the fence? Or like how big of a hole in the fence does there need to be for the bird to escape? This isn’t a problem in JWE because the way the aviaries are placed the flying is additive. Its follows the same logic of the climbing monkeys where it assumes it cannot fly anywhere until you add that cage. Then it can fly in the traversable area of the cage. If the cage “breaks” only then do they add the whole world as “traversable”.

I posted this about PZ2 on the forums and am curious what the RU-vid community thinks... I don't really think Planet Zoo lends itself to a sequel. Like at all. The concept is not fruitful in the slightest in my opinion. I mean, what will that look like? Planet Zoo 2: Oh yeah, but this time we actually have some flying birds and idk maybe some fish lol Almost all the ABC, iconic zoo animals have already been incorporated to this game. Undoubtedly, many animals will have to be left behind to make room for more, so now you have a 1998 Pokemon Blue and Red situation. Sounds looks a regression to me. DLCs would probably have repeats, do you really want to pay $9.99 so you can have a polar bear or meerkat, TWICE? What new mechanics will be implemented that we don't already have? We have rides, keeper talks and shows, a functional gift shop, etc. There's still a petting zoo feature I guess? Playgrounds maybe? But is that really enough to warrant a sequel? Will players have to start from scratch with their impressive custom builds?

I definitely would not mind having a separate Planet Aquarium game that focuses on architecture (also making it less complicated to build aquariums similar to the Sims), water quality, rehabilitation mechanics, having dedicated Ocean Biomes and regions, and a touch pools you could also design. I definitely understand your point as well also. :)
@jdsilber772
@jdsilber772 6 месяцев назад
Its seems wild to me that you talk about lack of variety and biomes. The sea alone is so diverse, reefs, kelp forest, underwater cave and rocks formations, deep ocean chasms, coastal biomes. Not even getting started with fresh water ones, rivers, swamps, manglar, etc. Also, and just from experience of going to big aquariums, the format and shape of exhibits can be so much more than underwater viewing galleries, between shallow coastal pools, tunnels, ponds... Plus the possibility as you say of going for bigger and more customizable exhibits, facility of adding smaller creatures, and a whole other mechanics focused on water and marine biology are way to many new mechanics and content to add to a single dlc. Planet Zoo, as it is right now is way to limited in water habitat building for the complexity of going for full on aquatic animals. As for the semi aquatic, there are so many species that planet zoo hasnt even touched, tons of birds, penguins, seals, snakes, and seals. Idk, I loved aquariums games in my childhood, and going to some amazing ones in real life have shown me that its a whole different world than a normal zoo.

The only way I can see the introduction of more aquatic animals in this style game by the developers is by doing one of two things. 1. Creating a massive expansion pack for Planet Zoo with a large number of new aquatic species and aquariums. Or 2. They release the next iteration and call it Planet Animal and include improved water physics, aquatic animals and aquariums.

The aquarium usually have more species than the zoo since the aquatic species are much more diverse than terrestrial species and you can have about 20 different types of fish in one tank. We generally have about 5-8 species in one pack, the aquarium pack if come true, will be more likely a scenery pack with just 5 species,since we need more aquarium components and marine themed decoration (like corals, kelp, sinked ships). If we get aquarium pack, we probably only have 5 full aquatic species, that is definitively insufficient for aquarium, but we still have many land animals need to be added into the game, as well as flying birds, the future DLCs can't just focus on sealife, especially we don't have many new DLCs left. The PZ earns the most stable revenue to the Frontier but the shareholders ask to end the support of PZ, they probably still think the animal-related game has limit and the PZ already reach that limit, so they want to do sth new. We will see. As you mention there are still many potentials of PZ and many things can be added, I am curious that what species do you want in the future DLCs, or are you interested in conducting a survey to PZ players about what species you wish the Frontier to offer in the future, like how you did through the most favorite PZ animal survey

The another thing is, the engine of PZ is backward and it can't contain that many exhibits, with the aquarium added in I worry that the computer gonna stuck more often, it may requires the new engine, which only can be offered by the new game( probably PZ2)

Perhaps a DLC featuring aquariums that can be built using the walkthrough exhibit that is already in game.

It would have to be a large pack or a 3 part pack to get enough decorations and building supplies as well as animals to be able to make something more of an aquarium rather than a zoo. If it was just 1 pack we would get 1 shark, 1 type of whale maybe, an octopus, jelly fish, a few small fish, a manta ray, a sea turtle, a large fish and even that would be a lot for a normal pack if we are also getting tank building supplies, enrichment supplies, tank decorations and even creatures like coral, anemones and other live "decor"

The "3 CMS Games" doesn't rule out a JWE3, right? Because without any extra evidence to the contrary, I'd assume PC2, JWE3 and PZ2 are the three (in that order, the next Jurassic World film has a 2025 release date too, after all). But to answer the topic directly, I doubt they'd do a standalone Aquarium, just make it part of PZ2 where they can do more with aquatic animals with a new underlying framework. I'm viewing the seemingly inevitable PZ2 in the same way as what's happening with Football Manager next year, where they're moving to a new engine and it's allowing them to build the game from the ground up but with all the knowledge they've gained over the years. I don't think a PZ2 would be a cash grab or using these deliberately as 'selling points', they can start over with these ideas in mind and build the game architecture to accommodate them organically, rather than tacking it on as an afterthought.

I think they have spent a lot of time expanding simulation stuff in Planet Zoo and Coaster but now they need to come out with a game that concentrates on management, improve the stuff that makes what we do matter. Honestly it might be fun to take the whole thing to space and do like Planet Tourism and build a space station with rides, games, exhibits, hotels, restaurants, sports, spas etc. Maybe with a system that measures your education content to determine your tax rate or something like that. All that said I'd be happy if they just did engine improvements and added true hotels and restaurants to both current Planet games (plus of course some more rides and animals).

It starts you out easy with a few simple fish tanks, but quickly escalates out of control as your aquarium grows. Before you know it, you’re hiring a specialized team to babysit a whale shark 24/7. On my wishlist is a simulation game that offers the graphics that we see in city skyline/planet zoo/Jurassic world, but also the niche intricacies that’s unique in the aquarium hobby.

There are lots of underwater biomes, so as long as I can actually decorate and control the dimensions, I'd be happy with that. I don't agree with keeping cetaceans in captivity, but I'd still love to be able to see and interact with them in a game, so rehabilitation or possibly housing disabled animals might abide the notion without being controversial! I'd also like to see touch tanks, mermaid performers, and guest snorkling and scuba experiences. With filtration, temperature, chemicals of the water, and cohabitating various species, I think there could be a lot to manage. I'd imagine a Planet Aquarium game would be substantially smaller than Planet Zoo, so the price should reflect that. I think I could get excited about a Planet Aquarium game, but they'd really have to make it on par, or better than Planet Zoo. No exhibits where you just click things on or off! I would much rather see Planet Aquarium than to see these things in a Planet Zoo 2... but I'm afraid that's exactly what will happen.

To be honest I think that it could be an opportunity to educate people on proper housing requirements. The game developers have control over what is ethical and possible in game. I also think it’s hypocritical to apply that barrier to for example Orcas when it’s similar to the real world situation of Polar Bears in captivity. I just also feel like honestly people outside the aquarium hobby don’t understand all the types of scales and tanks that you can have.

It depends on how "realistic" they go with the animal roster. The original Zoo Tycoon's Marine Mania expansion pack let you add not only Sea World staples like orcas and dolphins, but also great white sharks, giant squid, and sperm whales. Those aren't animals that are likely to ever appear in a real aquarium, but you gotta admit it was kinda cool that you had the option to add them.

What I would like is a Planet Rescue where you're building observation posts out in the wild and gathering research and helping animals. That way they could have a focus on sea life due the affects pollution has had on the ocean. However, that might work better as a Planet Zoo DLC

Hey ladyy, i'm backkk 💗💗 I agree completely with all your points! I'm not a planet zoo player because i don't have a PC (neither the money for it hahaha) but i enjoy watching a looot of planet zoo videos wether they're gameplays or buildings, and to be honest, i think the aspects of “Planet Aquarium" should just straight up be a part of Planet Zoo, perhaps a biiig big big DLC that adds all that content into the game. Because as a game itself, it might turn boring pretty quickly. + At this point, i think frontier is just trying to “Refresh” their game by doing a delete and start over again (If they do a Planet Zoo 2) because that would bring more attention to it. A new game? Doesn't matter if it's the same as the old one, it might attract new players with that premise (At least that's my humble opinion!) And i love love love aquatic animals but aquariums are so cruel, i completely understand your point even if it's "just a game, not real" because simulation games are, well, supposed to be close to real life! I don't want to see a whale between four crystal walls, neither in real life, or a game. Empathic people like us who love animals can't win hahaha I think i forgot what the other points were while i was writing this bible comment 😦 Just wanted to say that i'm currently studying for my college entrance exam and i use your videos as podcasts 💗💪🏻

I don't think a Planet Aquarium would have much replayability, pretty much all ocean biomes look the same, unless you get into the extreme hot/cold biomes. Honestly i don't even think 'Planet Zoo' should be called "Planet Zoo" without flying birds, i cant think of a single zoo without at least a small aviary. They should have left it as Planet Safari or Planet Animal Park.

Very happy to see an aquatic PlanZoo release! Feeling very split on a hypothetical Planet Aqua game, though. While I think yes it would be interesting to see, it would be a tougher sell. Aquarium and zoo features cross over a lot more. Frontier was able to _get away_ with Zoo, IMO, for two reasons: 1) we hadn't had a good zoo management game in years (does Zoo Tycoon really count as a "good" management game today though? lol), and 2) the depth of Planet Coaster made it apparent to me they would take it more seriously if they split it away from the theme park world, instead of the RCT3 strategy of one-fits-all (it just... didn't work for me very well). [Continued] My big concern is that we'd get an Aquarium simulation that is just 500 wall types, ten vendors, 50 plants and 200 different pumps and filtration systems. The base-release would be largely devoid of wildlife that sparks a need to buy the game. We'd get _some_ cool species, sure, but very few that are showstoppers (e.g. Orcas). I can _guarantee you_ we would not see more than one or two sharks upon release. That's a $30 DLC. We wouldn't see many sophisticated plants. Those can be spread amongst five $20-30 DLC. Sea Turtles and a crossover of otters from PZ? Another $20 DLC. If Zoo is any indication, there will be more franchise milking to "look forward to". Another example... who _seriously_ needs 8 DLC for a Jurassic Park game? I love the concept of an aquarium simulation, don't get me wrong. I don't think it has been done before, and if it has, well it obviously hasn't been done very well otherwise everyone would know the name like RCT3 or Zoo Tycoon. I just don't have faith that the 2024 version of Frontier will do this justice and give us as thorough and loved of a game from the start as 2016 or 2019 Frontier would have, if that makes sense. The studio is clearly pushing hard for more releases to generate quick cash flow, as JW3 proves. We're seeing a switch to a quantity-over-quality mindset on the grounds of profitability and company sustainability. It sucks but I think Frontier is going to start sending out products that still feel _good,_ but inherently lacking in a hard-to-describe way? PZ console's launch will be one to monitor closely for this. Will there be really obvious bugs missed due to shortened QC? Does all the animal AI seem to work correctly?

So I think you have an oversimplification of what makes aquariums more sim management like. There are plenty more things than temperature. You have salt levels, water filtration, the current, and nighttime behaviors that could add a lot to a planet game. On top of that exhibits I've seen can be so detailed and unique. I still remember one where it was simulating storms with lighting and all. Love your channel but there are so many new ways to approach making a Sim game for this that I don't think you are considering.

Yes of course there are some more things to do.. my point is... making underwater viewings I find fun for a while.. but doing it the whole time, because there is nothing else than doing that for the animals.. 😅 I dont know.. I doubt that would at least spark my creativity too much at some point.. sure.. I will enjoy making my first aquarium a lot because its all new, and try to create as many different underwater biomes as possible.. but I somehow doubt it will enjoy me as much as the variaty we have in Planet Zoo where you can also do lots of other things with habitats, climbing frame, shelters, indoor and outdoor areas.. Ive played a fun aquarium game on the channel a few years ago.. obviously not that comparable with zoo.. but like.. ones ive made 2 coral aquariums.. deep sea, saltwater, freshwater, blackwater, swampy, drift wood aquariums.. all was great and fun to do, dont get me wrong! But I did feel like after making 1 of those in a certain theme/biome.. it didnt really attracked me doing another one in the same theme/biome because it fels like the same.. but that probably also came down to the amount of stuff you could add.. haha! But yeah, I do really think that the freedom and beauty of Planet Zoo is the diversity in animals and ways you can spark your creativity in de long run 😊

I'd love to play a planet zoo aquarium game. But I feel like the technical side would be difficult to add to the current game. ( I'd rather have it be DLC for the current game, but I know it might not be realistic for them to do coding wise). Imagine manatees, jellyfish, sharks, fish etc. I'd even be totally fine with excluding controversial animals like dolphins and whales. I definitely get that there might not be as diverse options or it could get old and repetitive fast but there's so many different types of aquatic animals. If it had terrain manipulation, rocks, coral/underwater plants, and many different building piece options it wouldn't feel as repetitive too. And focusing on conservation is what PZ does so if done right I could see it being a positive addition to the game series. Sometimes PZ can be overwhelming especially to new players because there's too many options. My top 2 biggest wish list things are aviaries and aquarium animals. Of course I'd love to have those things in PZ. And a stand alone probably wouldn't perform as well long term. But I'd still play it for sure.

The main reason that I support Planet Aquarium is that I don’t want Planet Zoo 2 to be a thing for a while. I love that game so much and I really would hate to see a sequel come out immediately within the next 2-3 years. I want time to finish my zoo and have something concrete while we have Frontier develop an incredible skill set with aquatic animals in Planet Aquarium. Then, once Planet Zoo 2 is announced maybe in mid-2027, we can know safely that it will be effectively perfect. Imagine Planet Zoo 2 releasing in December of this year. We would probably have to wait forever for a good, solid aquatic system of animals, as well as an avian system. Instead, think about what would happen if we got Planet Zoo 2 in December of 2027. Aquatic systems would be another tool in Frontier’s belt, and avians would be the main focus, allowing for a true zoo to be made in the sequel, complete with land, sea, and sky. A perfect game.

I agree, a planet Aquarium definitely won't hold on for as long as PZ does, unless you must be really into fishes and aquariums. I think a big add on expansion of Aquariums will make more sense for PZ, but here I fear we will get a PZ2 :( On the cetaceans in captivity part; I think frontier should add them, why? Because this is still a game after all, not reality, and there are still people(like me) that would just love to create big aquariums and tanks for dolphins and other cetaceans. Also, if frontier would add cetaceans, it's still up to the player to add them into the zoo :)

While dinosaurs are a no go, extinct mammals are not, mammoths and sabertooths. While the marine life would be like zoo tycoons, all the marine life available there but with more added for smaller tanks for small fish. It would also allow for mermaids to cone back, if anyone didn't know, the original zoo tycoon had an easter egg where if you put a mermaid statue in water,bit would explode and a mermaid would be where it was.

I echo your thoughts & feelings about a possible Planet Aquarium game. It's not something I'd purchase, as on top of everything you mentioned, the management of animal requirements vs protester features would be a nightmare! I mean look at how many players got fed up with the polar bear space requirements in the game, until it was changed. What would that translate into for cetaceans, sharks, rays & turtles! We'd be having to make essentially water world maps for just a few large animals due their needing many kilometres of space each if it was designed like PZ with conservation & animal welfare as pilers of the game. So yeah, I just don't see how it would work personally, not without making it more 'real-world' were animals are kept in entirely unsuitable conditions & pulling off propaganda campaigns or lawsuits to get around the protesters or whistle blowers in order to make a profit. It'd feel a whole lot more like being the villain in the story/management role than anything else which gives me the icks tbh. As to PZ support ending... Is this the second or third year now where people have been saying it's the last year of PZ? I hope it isn't the last year as the game still has so much to offer in terms of revenue & so many species & features, they could add from a players POV. Frontier's own FY23 reports stated PZ was one of their best earners alongside JE2 & as late as September it was stated "the future for Planet Zoo is bright" or words to that effect in one of their reports (I think it was also stated that PZ content helped fund some conservation programmes or initiatives didn't it?), so it seems like a bit of a backwards step for them to stop PZ content before seeing how well PC2 does with bringing in revenue given how stable of an earner PZ is for them- especially with no new Jurassic movies coming out in the near future to provide that extra bump in interest & hype around those games. I think if they decide to do a PZ2, it'll be a bit of a long wait like it has been for PC2, as I doubt many would drop a bucket load of cash on PZ2 only a few years after PZ finishes unless it was an entirely different feel of game, with major new features & mechanics or something along those lines, which would be a big risk to their revenue stream until they have something to replace that long term, steady revenue stream already coming in from PZ IMO. That is why personally, I don't think PZ will end until after PC2 is released, as it just doesn't make financial sense to end it any sooner & even then, as a player & fan of the game, I hope they go for at least another year or 5 after PC2 is released... because I'm greedy like that & really don't want the game to stop... ever lol.

I'm sort of on the same page when it comes to animals that aren't uncommon in zoos or wildlife parks, or at very least require large scale enclosures - like orcas, dolphins, turtles, big sharks (honestly the sort most aquariums can't keep anyways because of size - the sorts seen in the old aquatic packs for zoo tycoon) BUT. A planet aquarium, I'd imagine, would function more like those tank design games with additional business management and building elements. With a focus on detail for small animals that just don't make sense in planet zoo as they'd have to be the little terrarium/tanks, not something that people have control over in a granular way. Theoretically, I think both could have a place as serve a different purpose. I wouldn't be buying an aqurium game personally, but I have friends who absolutely would. And I'd definitely be unimpressed if they included large aquatic habitat building in a way that functioned similarly to planet zoo but never bothered to add these animals to pz itself. (I do, personally, think there need to be more fish enclosures in planet zoo anyways, even if they use the existing shell for small reptiles and amphibians, because my local zoo has a lot of fish, and many big tanks and beautiful aquascapes.)

Planet Aquarium would be wrong because most of the zoos have aquariums - so, aquariums should be part of the Planet Zoo. Still, Planet Zoo is not complete by now because of that. By the way, thanks to science we know very well that dolphins, from smaller one to the biggest, can thrive in human care very well as long as the needs are managed properly. This all, next to sharks and other marine animals, don't make sense as a stand-alone game. We need a proper aquarium expansion - that's all.

Coaster 2 and a new Jurassic game because of the upcoming movie seem almost a lock in, so the third has to be another Zoo or City game. I don't see the company taking a risk right at this moment, just from a business standpoint. Investors aren't going to go for something new and uncertain no matter how much we might want something new and exciting. Makes me sad since I just started playing Zoo last month, but that's just the game industry. At this point I'm sure Planet Zoo is full of spaghetti code and adding new things is more and more of a challenge, so a Zoo 2 that adds flying like in the Jurassic games seems more likely than even a desperately wanted Aquarium pack. Even more sad if they do go with a city game instead of zoo. No no, I don't want to think of it either!

I've always been against them going down the aquarium route, because I don't want to see any cetaceans in the game, whether it's Planet Zoo or Planet Aquarium. Is it just a game? Yes, but it's also a game that is heavily educational especially for young people. And bringing in cetaceans, orcas especially, would be absolutely the wrong way to go about it given how orcas suffer in captivity in real life.

This doesn't only apply to orcas my friend, get into the game and look, elephants, polar bears, many animals are suffering, get rid of the one-sided perspective from your mind. If we are going to comment on this issue we need to be fair, basically no animal deserves to be in captivity. Animals using enrichment items at the zoo do not mean they are happy. When it comes to freedom, no animal deserves to be in captivity... it's that simple.

As a zookeeper, zoos, sanctuaries ect are good for conservation, saving critically endangered animals or giving animals a place to live if they can't survive in the wild like with permanent injuries or babies who where saved from poachers ect... but I personally think no sea dwelling animal should be in tanks or aquariums.. Which could be a reason we haven't gotten any aquatic species as they like looking at it from a conservation point of view ? Even being apart of animal shows, where I am anyway, our talks like our free flight bird show we talk about the animals natural behaviours in the wild and show off their natural behaviours, like for example with a hawk, we throw some meat up in the air and show how the hawk catches it mid flight, or showing how a parrot can strip open a nut with its strong beak... At seaworld the trainers ride the dolphins and make them jump through hoops ect for tricks. That's not really showing/teaching natural behaviour.. they are just stunts. Animal talks should be teaching the public about the animals conservation, natural behaviour ect, not training them to do tricks like seaworld does. Just My opinion anyway.

Personally I’m against it. It normalises keeping aquatic life trapped behind glass, when creatures such a deep sea fish, sharks and bigger aquatic mammals in the wild have huge areas where they can swim and live freely, and confine them to a tank is cruel. That’s not even mentioning using animals for entertainment is wrong and unethical. My boyfriend’s a Zookeeper so he’s told me all about the efficacy of things like this.
