4.0 - 4.2 (before double legendary RLS) is peak wow pvp. Fight me. I'm actually coming back to cata after quitting classic after vanilla just because of how great the pvp is.
I agree, S9 was the most balanced the game ever was. Daggers aren't even relevant tbh, they aren't bis. There's 1h axes with aoe dmg proc rogues can equip 2x and it is the highest burst they can do. Either way only very few pve items are good and it's most full pvp gear

Cataclysm had great PvP until the final patch where rogue legendaries and deathwing weapons kind of ruined it. Healers were kind of OP in Cata from what I remember.
No healers are normal in cata, 2s is like: 2 dps= 50% to win 1 dps 1 healer= 50% to win In mop healers is OP, 2s is: 1 dps 1 healer=90% to win 2 dps= 10% to win.
I basically quit Retail because I only do PvP on it. And Cata has some stellar PvP and most people love it. But he is right with season 1 and firelands maybe for raids and Dragonsoul is easy enough to pug you can get them trinks and weapons
Last year i played a few months on a cata private server and it was the most fun I’ve ever had playing wow. I cannot recommend it enough. PvP was legitimately addicting, felt like I was 14 again. And the pve was awesome too. So hyped!

Many people hate on cata (probably because of LFR addition later on?), but I am not in that boat. I loved cata. I loved that the heroics were actually hard again after WOTLK, the raids had really difficult mechanics for normal raids especially after WotLK (very punishing). PvP was SO GOOD -all the way from WotLK to MoP.
Biggest win for me is adding magic dispel for all healers. Me and my bro are not tryhards and me playing rsham and not being able to dispel vs 2x casters oh man...
The most fun I had in Cata was when you could get "the" pve trinket for casters. It might not have been until season 4 but I remember even the LFR version of it did like 1/3 of your damage nearly as a Fire Mage. I'm sure it was the same for Boomkin, Lock, SP
@@austingore4248 his first character was his warrior. I think he got glad on war in season 2 and 3, before going rogue in season 4. He switched back to warrior at the end of cata, just before mop launched because he knew he was switching.
Starting an dinasty of his own - being the most competitive person i have ever seen when i was 18 years old.... Them times where the times everything started considering what reckful did to the community of wow pvp and people watching online streamers playing games in general. But also, when you watched him often and recognised his sozial behaviour from time to time.... it was also the end of everything. Its mind blowing to me how everything changed.... how corrupted everything is now and how sensitive real and honest people had to be. They offerd their minds and soul to thousands of people- without them contracts which all of them stresmers/ casters (btw. Also venruki, (love you though ven ❤) do have. For me it was the beginning and locking back... as i said, the end of everything. Thinking about it now, when i am grown up, married, having plans for the future and so on. Normal life people call that here^^at least. Btw. This was a brain storm - so if you have any hard emotions on this, reply - good or bad ❤🎉

I have played cata for 6 years on private and rated BGs were peak wow for me, thosa balance druid and mage aoe was insane to deal with even as holy priest i were just spaming dispells 😄
excited for cata in general but after coming from retail im not looking forward to making teams for arena again. i remember missing it at first but now i realize why they did it, it's hard to go back to this
If I remember correctly, the conquest catch up if you missed a week was in place in 4.3 of original Cata, so it would make sense for it to be there now
As a wotlk warrior player i enjoyed cata first 2-3 patches it was so fun, you could destroy ppl without much gear... Later i stoped playing and moved back to wotlk.

Hello, as a pvp- streamer-youtuber could you helo open petition for onesided pvp servers especially in europe? Many people like us " old school pvper" was very hyped abaut cata but faction imbalnce killed this hype.. in europe we dont have atlast one balanced pvp server.. it so sad
I've played since classic came out and everytime a server does have balance one faction slowly dies out or gets to free transfer to a different server or both so it seems impossible.
I prefer these videos it's cool to see what you're thinking and plan on playing. Much more entertaining then complaining about the op classes like everyone else is.
I mean Cata was a great expansion for me when I played it and completed all of the content there was to have. So I have no desire to relive that. For anyone who has never experienced the expansion before, it is absolutely worth experiencing all of it for the first time for sure and hope they try it out.
@al44tec yeah mop is excellent. I'm 2860cr multiglad played every season of pvp since s1 tbc original and imo Cata S9 is the most balanced the game ever was. I was in the blizzcon tournament realm every year as well and yeah s9 cata is peak for balance. For fun I agree mop has some dope new spells that are a lot of fun and "complete" the class toolkits.
I've been maining classic for a while now and im still gonna play destro as always. I mained it back during og Cata and i remember it being pretty undertuned in comparison to other classes and specs, but the playstyle of it was incredibly fun! Been looking forward to going back to Cata pvp for a long time and im excited for it. Definitely a time to play fire/destro, its mega fun! 😄
Only thing I really liked about cata pvp was near the last patch where feral and blood DKs were so insanely broken because of how the tank mechanics worked lol Probably going to pass on it though because I already lived that life and I'm not leveling again. If I got a free level 80 like the PBE or something id play it otherwise no. And PvP from what I remember was slow af but I just did arena not rated battleground. Only way BGs ended was the busted tank mechanics where your damage stacked so high over time that you just started doing so much damage it was insane.
Cata is very likely the best pvp we will have in an MMO until a real wow killer such as Riot's MMO comes out in 2026. PvP was also pretty good in MoP but the talent system is weird and there was a shit ton of CC. Cata is 100% better than retail because there is merely an emphasis on cooldowns rather than a reliance on them. The game itself is still in somewhat of an aesthetically pleasing state as well, where rewards such as the distinguishing elite gladiator sets (something you find in no other expansion, they actually give better stats) really make people want to push hard for rating.

the main issue of cata is gonna be the same as wotlk, I tried wotlk expecting endless arenas, but it was super hard to find people except to cap 5s. So if you have friends, sure cata can be fun, else LFG is just super dead for the average decent player, even harder to find people than on retail.

As someone that Main’ed war back then, I remember specifically feeling like warriors were in a shit place in pvp for season 10 and 11. I also never did pve so that could have been part of it.
I remember not liking cata bck in the day but I did play ret and it was ruined at launch HOWEVER cata classic feels great and mage is very fun right now
The win rate as horde is horrible in pre patch, i think a ton of people swapped to ally, i definitely don't remember nearly as man lossess and stomps back in orginal cata.
Am a little worried how many battlegrounds I would need to play to get the honor gear just to play arenas, not huge fan of battlegrounds, and if they don't buff the honor gains and it's the same as in the og Cata you would need to play hundreds of bgs to just get the gear. (or that is what I got when I googled)
No. He is misinformed. You will be perfectly viable in full pvp gear the whole xpac. In the 2nd season there is a legendary staff that's very strong, not everyone can get it, and it's not required but it's great. Then in the 3rd season, s11, dragon soul has some pve trinkets & weapons that have damage procs on them. Their procs are why they're desirable not the stats. You can easily pick up the raid finder versions if you want to grab them otherwise don't worry about it. Unless you are pushing R1, like Ven's mindset is, you do not need to pve at all this xpac. The little bit I mentioned is it & that's only if u want to. It's not like wotlk or tbc where pve gear is required for certain classes to even function viably.
From what I remember cata's pvp was actually pretty balanced and people could die, it wasn't easy to kill people but it wasn't impossible like it is in dragonflight
@@Hearth_Talk I haven't played a ton of pvp in the last season or two so maybe it's changed and I just haven't played enough to know, but as far as I know it hasn't. Also I mean the average case, where people are regularly using their defensives etc
I am worried that not enough people play Cata because of its bad reputation, when imo it was more fun than BFA, Legion(pvp), and most of the newer expansions
