12 through 14 models are all good phones that should all do a good job for easily 4 or 5 years. I have both the 12 pro max and 14 pro max, and I still love my 12 pro max, in hind sight I could have easily kept it for another couple of years , it’s still a dam good phone , and although the 14 pro does have some decent improvements, I could have easily waited another year or two and saved a cool 2 grand Australian dollars for the 14 pm.

I have a 13 Pro atm and 100% miss the 11 series of phones design and feel in the hand. I've considered selling my 13 Pro and picking up a refurb 11 Pro Max.
@smootie5136
@smootie5136 Год назад
@@nabby5030 I actually did exactly this. Quality of life went up as far as not having a heavy device (226g vs 13 PM's 240g's) The curved form factor actually is more comfortable too. Battery life will last you all throughout the day with room to spare once you get home, provided you got a good battery life percentage to start. I would've kept using it but my provider had a good deal on the 14 Plus and was enticed enough to try it out. My experience has been great with this, yet the 15 series has my interest.

Man, you are so right! I agree with you that we don’t need the latest and greatest tech every year, I am still on my iPhone Xr from 2018 and it runs great, minus all the camera improvements in the later models, but marketing is the main driving force that’s getting people to upgrade every year. With regards to the lack of dopamine hit from getting new Apple products, I too am exactly like you, but I put it down to age. I am of the same generation as you, and as I get older I don’t get the same hit as I used to with new Apple products, we are wiser now. In the words of a wise old woman, “use it up, wear it out and make it do!”

I don’t think it’s just because of age. I’m 27 and I feel the exact same as you. Last time I was super hyped about a phone, it was the 6S Plus that I got back in 2015. 3 years after that I bought an iPhone X which was great and all, I had it for 4 years and I felt a stronger satisfaction of making do with it for “just one more year” than to scout for newer and better models. Last year I got the iPhone 13 (not pro), bought it without a plan, so it’s paid for right out of the box. The reason I keep coming back to iPhones is not because of the magic anymore, it’s because they just work for many years.

I’m right there with you. I’m still using the 12 pro max as well. It’s paid off, and it still works great. I’ve been getting a new iPhone every 2 years since it came out, but not anymore. They charge way to much for iPhones to justify getting one every couple of years. There have been no real big changes that justify getting a new one every year. Plus I really love the 12 pro max, it’s my favorite iPhone yet. Gonna hang onto it as long as I can. Thanks for the painfully honest reviews.

To be honest, the iPhone 13 Pro series is basically the same thing as iPhone 12 Pro series, they only shrink the notch size even iPhone 14 Pro series, but almost the same as they only introduced an dynamic island.

I have been feeling this exact way the past year. I have the iPhone 13 Pro and also the Galaxy Fold 4. I guess the tech is plateauing so really everyone is getting a good phone regardless of what you get as of recent.

I feel exactly the same as you do about the iphones. I have the same 12 pro max and I use to be that person who would be eager to watch the apple unveils and pre-order the new iphone to see the new tech that it has going on, but now the phones are all the same and just really boring when it comes to the upgrades. I still watch the apple events but nothing stands out as a must purchase for a new phone now. Maybe we have hit the pinnacle of what mobiles can do for now. Most of the focus of new phones are bigger better cameras that do nearly the same thing each year uggh.

I am in total agreement with you here. Still rockin’ my Pacific Blue (love that color) 12PM 512gig and couldn’t be happier. The phone is buttery smooth and can multitask like a champ. The battery is still at 92% and easily gets me through 1-2 days even with heavier use. After getting my hands on the last 2 generations of PM iPhones I really can’t see the point in upgrading esp. at the current iPhone price points and like you, I like to buy the phone outright. Otherwise, it feels like you’re just renting the phone for a few years and then trading it in. The 12 PM has excellent cameras and will continue to be my daily driver for the next couple of years barring any stupendous upgrades. Thank you for your honest appraisal.

I totally understand what you’re saying, however, I am around the same age as you and I believe that plays a big role in it. Or it could be that smart phones have lost the “wow” factor because they are well past the honeymoon phase. I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max and this is the first phone that I plan on keeping for years because the cameras are at their peak for the meantime and promotion is amazing every time I pick it up. I’m not sure if we are all desensitized from all of the unboxing and anticipation of the new phones every year. It could be the guilt of buying the new phone and then one week later some RU-vidr is talking about the next one and we are all saying we should’ve waited one more year to buy it. I have to say it was an amazing time to be alive to see the birth of the smart phone. I just wish my children could’ve grown up without them like we did.

I am also still using the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I love it! Previous iPhone was the original iPhone X from 2017, which I kept for about 3 years before upgrading to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I don’t yet feel I need more. The dynamic Island is a clever, cute use of the space where the notch used to be, and it’d be nice to have, but not enough to get me to upgrade right now. It might be nice to have 120Hz display as well, although I’m not sure I could really appreciate the difference. My eyes also not great. Must wear glasses to do everything. I played briefly with iPhone 13/14 in store trying to see the difference but didn’t notice much of a difference. I do play mobile games on my phone a lot though, so it could be a benefit there. But games still look really good on 12 Pro Max display. Damn. I wish my battery was still at 90% or so, but it’s down to 87% after 2 years, 2 months. Maybe cause I use it more, and for games. Need to charge it a bit more often. Still it’s fine and I’m not yet sure when I’ll upgrade again. I don’t feel like spending another $1300+ either. lol

I couldn't agree more. I had a Sierra blue 256gb 13 Pro Max. I didn't see the value in the 14 Pro Max( especially since they got rid of the SIM card tray in the US.and I switch phones frequently). After the 14 was released T-Mobile discounted the 13 Pro Max 1TB down to $1049 so I sold my Blue 13 PM and picked up a 1Tb Green 13PM. I usually upgrade my phones every year but now I don't see the point since most yearly upgrades are mediocre at best. I'll be holding on to the 13PM for a couple years. And as always great video. Keep up the great work.

My general rule is, upgrade every 3 years. I got my 13 Pro Max in Alpine Green (sorry Jason) late in the cycle (May ‘22), and it’s been my favorite iPhone. That 120hz does make a big difference when you go back and compare it to a 60hz iPhone. And my battery is typically over 60% at the end of each day, which is amazing. I had no interest in the 14 lineup. I’m hoping to hold on to this until the 17 comes out.

I totally agree with you with everything you’ve said. I’m a hard core iPhone fan but I have to agree with you. I use an iPhone 7 due to my country is hopeless but I’m loving every bit of it because it does what I need it for. I also have you a subscribe 👍🏽

I agree, I was happy with my XS up until the battery life didn't get me through a normal day. Currently on the 13pro and the battery life is a significant jump (can go 1.5 days) but the technological updates weren't that significant at all. If anything, the battery life and the sierra blue color are what convinced me in the end.

Great video, I use an iPhone12 (standard) which replaced an iPhone 6 from 2014. I don't intend to replace at this rate until iPhone 18!

I am quite satisfied with my iPhone Pro 12 - only thing I would change is getting a newer battery. But so far the A14 is great!

I do agree with you mostly. i do have the 14PM, i just have a major issue with wanting the best of the best and i feel like i cant help it. I really really hate to say it but most of the time i upgrade is because of the status symbol. When i was in high school, i remember seeing so many classmates owning the 5S during my grad year year of 2013-14. Now of course not everyone had a 5s, some had a 5, 5c, or a 4s, but i had a 4. i was so envious of those with the 5s, ever since then Ive been wanting to always have the latest iPhone. So every year since ive been addicted to trying to have the best. It didn't even stop there, eventually it was the watch, and even my nintendo switch that i had to switch out for an OLED. i really wish i didn t care what kind of phone i had, or watch, or game system, if i stopped caring, id be much happier.

It is possible to get better. I used to buy phones all the time, but now it’s been 9 months since my last purchase. I couldn’t be happier. It’s still fun to watch all the new stuff come out, makes the prices much less important.

Jason great video I only changed my iPhone last year because it’s battery died and the iOS could not be upgraded anymore. I went with the 13 mini because I love the small form factor let’s be honest most people never use 90% of the features on their smart phone anyway. Keep up the great work

haha same here rocking my 13 mini green, honestly big ones are just useless bricks which feel really uncomfortable in pocket for daily use. All i do is take calls, make payments and listen to music on a daily basis, have a 13 PM (again green) for heavy gaming but i keep it at home as i'm really not comfortable carrying that brick around.

You echo my exact feelings in this video sir. I too am an iPhone 12 Pro Max user. I have no intention of upgrading when the iPhone 15 debuts. The 12 Pro Max still has more features than I typically use on a daily basis. My battery capacity is at 87% and I'm still getting through a complete day without having to reach for the charger. As long as it's getting the current iOS updates and the battery life is good, I plan to stick with it.

Great video! You are so correct I paid off my phone. Have had my 12 Pro Max for two years battery of 88%. Honestly, will get a new battery as this phone will support 4 to 5 years.

It still does what you need it to do, I should have stuck with my iPhone11 pro as it did everything I needed. Unfortunately the newer design is not comfortable for me to hold even with a case :(

Jason, I have an even dirtier secret, I still use the 11 Pro. And I still love it and it’s still an excellent device with a great camera. I even bought the 12 Pro Max in Nov 20, yes it’s a great device but the battery was rubbish, and I thought this thing weights a ton and there’s little on here I haven’t got on my 11 Pro. So after a few months I paid it off and sold it.

Nice video. 100% correct. I've never bought new each year, and only ever bought even-numbered iPhones - I've owned the 4S, 6S, 8 Plus, Xs Max, 12 Pro Max and now the 14 Pro Max. My next iPhone will probably be the 18 Pro Max (if that's what it's going to be called). Only reason I updated every second year, was to hand down my phone to my Mrs, and 2 sons. With regards to getting that dopamine hit, let me offer you a new fix. Wait for the videos to come out of people regretting upgrading their phones. It's funny to watch people complain about how similar the new phone is to the last - what do they expect, 1000 new features, a zoom camera that can focus on the footprints on the moon? With regards to FOMO, spend quality time with your partner and kids (if you have any) - they'll appreciate it, and you'll still have the precious memories that you can still capture on your 'ancient' 2 or 3 year old phone. They are memories you would not have had, if you'd spent it on a new phone. Any when I get the 18 Pro Max (again, if that's what it's called), I'll probably have that for 10 years - I'm 51 now......

Jason i could not agree more with this one. There is really no satisfaction any more because every phone is very similar to the last years equivalent model. I upgraded from my Xr to the 13 last year and it really was not worth it , and this year i got the 14 plus only for the extra battery. but i really tend to agree with what you are talking about and it will take at least 3-4 years to do a change.
