I came from MandJTV, and i decided after a while i like you too. You’re wholesome nice and i enjoy both that and video games. I found your videos to be something i could put on in my background when i just need to be a veggie. Last year i enjoyed my only stream viewing of the year when i was sick with covid. I was so miserable with it, but during the worst portion woke up every hour or so listening to you and felt the positivity, and felt better than i thought i could have.I have really bad asthma and i was really scared, but you made me feel comforted. Have you thought about making this channel almost like a Podcast channel? You'll periodically have guests on like once a month or twice a month and y'all just sit down and talk? Answer questions from the comments section, talk about whatever ya'll want? I definitely think there's still a portion of people on RU-vid that love podcast style content. You can still have shiny hunting or other gameplay in the background as well! Just a thought :]

John, I just realized that I’ve been watching your content for five years, at least since the Black & White Metronome Let’s Play series you did with Mikey, but probably longer. Your content has steadily improved over that time, and whatever you want to do with this new channel, I’m sure it will be great, and I’m here for it. Thanks for always giving me a reason to smile. I get it, having the main channel with a specific feel and then having a second channel to balance your mental state without feeling like you are imposing on anyone You are giving yourself and other people a safe space, i respect that and think it's a good idea for both yourself and your channel
You along with other RU-vidrs like Mikey and Technoblade got me through my parents divorce which was just a month or so before the quarantine started. I thank you so much for all of this and I think it’s good that you make a less exaggerated channel for people to see the real you.
this is the first time ive commented on a youtube video in YEARS im astonished at how much i relate to your past. my parents just got divorced, i moved across the country away from all my firends i broke up with my partner a year ago, and i was no longer doing theatre or cheer i find comfort in making youtube videos. pokemon and minecraft. my goal has always been "if i can make one person feel like they belong, if i can make one person laugh, then ive done my job" i feel alone. i feel so alone, all i want is people to find comfort in my content. to help people like me. im still young, i had to grow up fast, but im still only 19. youtube, more specifically the people on it helped me through my darkest moments and the people i saw myself in on youtube helped me feel a little less alone. this video has been so cathartic for me, i am in tears. i feel heard, i feel seen, i feel understood thank you john

Im going on 28 years now too, been watching you for at least the last 6-7. I like your funny stuff and your videos you posted. I had a kid during Covid, working a super stressful job, trying to remodel our house. Burning the rope from both ends and the middle. I started watching your streams on twitch around then, followed them over to RU-vid when you made that transition. Hearing you casually talk with chat about your life was a window in a pretty dark place for me. Not going to lie, you were the only video content I consumed for 3+ months. No other RU-vid, no streaming services, tv, or movies. I didn’t have time to invest myself in anything else. But I had time to pop in for a chat with the John Guy, even if I just threw in an earbud while I got ready for work in the morning or did the dishes at night. If you are looking what to use the channel for, then just talk with us, keep it real like you always do. Or use it to dump out things that have been on your mind. You’re a good dude, you make great content. Trust your gut and let it be. That’s the John I subscribe to. But seriously. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do. first of all thank you for sharing. its extremely important to find and chase after the things that bring you joy and if this is part of it, never doubt it for a second. you're right, you've put a smile on my face many many times since i found your content and made bad days a little better. if you see this, know that it mattered and it will continue on mattering as long as your heart is in it. as for this channel, it'll be whatever you want it to be. for me, personally, im all for it. i usually i love to play games or work or just chill with something i like playing in the background so this is a win for me already. but in all seriousness, you could talk about anything and everything. take some time to think about how you'd like to structure that. i feel like you have a lot you wanna say beyond you know your opinion on pokemon or how many shinies you've caught so let that voice of yours be heard. think about what teen you would like to hear. talk about stuff YOU feel is IMPORTANT and listen to feedback, but make sure you dont lose sight of why you made this in the first place. if you feel like talking about how much you love dogs or whatever, thats okay and if you wanna discuss more serious topics thats okay too! the community will engage and help you through it, i'm sure. will keep on followng your journey in the meanwhile ❤️

When I was in high school, I had a plan to kms because of various life situations. Happily, I didn’t, and Im 35 now. I didn’t discover your content until a few years ago when I was already in a better place, but I can assure that having someone like you to watch near daily when I got home would have been an amazing help to 17 year old me, and I know that your existing channels and this new one will be that for some struggling kids today. Good on you man. All we can do is try to heal the broken around us. Glad you kept following your dreams.

I'm around the same age as you and I think had pretty similar experiences getting into RU-vid based on your description. I remember all the old channels I used to watch that were basically just stream of consciousness commentaries over a video of CoD so this was super nostalgic! The things that stuck in my head from those days were the stories of mundane experiences leaving lasting impressions on people (so much so that they talked about it on the internet). Kinda vague as a suggestion but that's all I got!

Honestly, I always saw your videos just about the same way you explained seeing those old Call of Duty Commentary videos: A safe space where after a long day, I can just turn one on and tune out the whole world, forget my loneliness...I'll be honest, I'm going through something super similar to what you explained. I used to live no more than a 15 minute long walk away from my friends, now I live on the other side of town, and I need to take a 2 hour bus ride to just see them. But any time I feel lonely, I just turn on one of your videos and it makes me smile. You are amazing, and I hope you stay amazing man!💜💜

I started watching you not for the pokemon but for you. I'm a newish viewer and I don't remember what the first video I saw was. But I know I stayed because something about you made me think, this is a genuinely nice person I would get along with. Hearing you talk about less happy things in this video hits home and just makes me love you more. I'm a 30something mom struggling with anxiety, depression, and severe burnout. My suggestion to you, from someone who also went thru the same thing in HS bball, if you still love the game and have the time, continue playing in local leagues in your area. And if you can even become a coach of a rec league! It’s a really rewarding experience!

I found your videos when I first started maternity leave after having my baby last year. I had to resign from my work to be a stay at home mom, I was sleep deprived, going through post partum depression and trying to figure out to transition my new life as a mom and actually survive it.. RU-vid played an important part in helping me take a few moments to breathe and try to spend my free time watching things I enjoyed. Your videos (along with Mikey, Jack and a few others overtime) really helped me feel better during a time I felt kinda lost and scared. You guys have the same type of humor as I do, so your videos always helped bring a smile back to my face. But you know what makes me even happier as a viewer... is when content creators like you be themselves. Be vulnerable, be honest; don't try to put on a happy face just for the sake of others; it's not healthy. I would know; I do the same thing. The people who truely like you for you won't care if you aren't happy all the time or feel like venting, or talking about your hobbies and interests; they're here for you. Because they like who you are. If people start complaining, then those people aren't here for you and will soon go away on their own and find someone else to bother. Never be afraid to just be yourself and don't put your own happiness ahead of other peoples happiness. If you make others happy, thats just a bonus. And I know, it feels amazing. But we want you to be sincere, and just be yourself. So I cant wait to see what this channel is gonna do. There are so many possibilities.
I think it's really refreshing for you to express this and it makes me like you as a RU-vidr more than I already did. I love this idea! We’re around the same age, and I really resonate with a lot of what you mentioned. Sounds like we got into RU-vid around the same time, watched similar styles of videos. While I don’t use RU-vid to escape as much as I used to any more, the days I do need that kind of boost, you have been a common choice for me. I especially love the videos of yours where you get more real (in particular I’m thinking of the end of your stream/video of donating money to the Trevor Project; I caught that stream live, and have gone back to it or your video at least once a month since). I think past me would have really benefited from something like this, and I’m really happy it’ll be here for all the people who need it. I can’t wait to see what you post next.

That story of your high school difficulties really resonated with me. I may have gone through different things, but high school was rough for me too, and funnily enough, I found solace in RU-vid as well, including those popular CoD videos where people just talked. It was somehow both nostalgic and refreshing to see that format. I'm sure younger me would've loved this channel.
As someone who’s been stressing constantly over this year (many life choices ahead that I’m too stressed about making), I’ve been struggling to find outlets. My stress has caused a lot of bottling, and there’s not much to help me see with a fresh pair of eyes. Hearing about this channel as a commentary channel that “a young John would need”, I feel like it might be something I need too. Your channels have always brought smiles to my face, and I’m glad that it may also help me with what my struggles may be in life.
If you talk about literally anything it would be entertaining. You have such a unique ability to be so fun to listen to, and seeing the more serious, “real” side of you is really relaxing. Anything you talked about would help anybody because of how true of a person you are. Keep being an incredible person, because it has definitely helped me and many others be that little bit happier and then some.

I randomly saw one episode of the John Michael Cup Season 1 one day and I have been hooked on both of your channels ever since, and I found you both and your interactions to be hilarious while being lighthearted and wholesome. John, as someone who is going through a similar situation to you, sophomore, parents recently divorced, and moved away from friends, I can say, at least for me, you have helped me get through it, like those COD channels appear to have done for you. I came across your channel like... 4ish years ago? Struggling with my health (multiple sclerosis) and lonely from self imposed isolation.... Then still struggling with my health and c*vid lockdown and quarantines and stuff. It's been SO nice to have such a positive, fun channel to watch. As well, you and your twitch chat were absolute mvps during lockdowns. So basically, thank you for being so positive, entertaining, and always helping us to have a break from the world to enjoy your videos. I just recently subscribed to your main channel, and I realized that you were incredibly fun and had a great energy to your videos. I really got the sense you were a very kind person, and that was actually a very big part of what led me to subscribe and watch even more of your videos, after initially seeing you through the John-Michael Cup. Your dynamic with Mikey during the John-Michael Cup is very fun and energetic (along with other times you play together), but it's not just when you're with other people. You, yourself, are actually a joy to watch and listen to. You bring me a lot of joy when I click on one of your videos I haven't watched yet (And there still are some I haven't gotten to watch yet!). Times have been pretty rough for a lot of people, including me. So having your videos to watch or listen to in the background has been very nice, and I'm sure many other people agree. Seeing this video helps cement the fact that you're truly a kind and genuine person. As cliche as it may sound, I think it shines through in your other videos, too. The fact that you're trying to be there for people during a rough time they may be experiencing is something I truly respect. It's OK to try to be there for others, and by extension, help yourself. I lost my job this year and it's been over a month now and I've had nothing to do. I've been in a funk and have been having a hard time. One of the things I've been doing has either been watching your vids or having them on in the background while applying to jobs or eating. They've been helping me to do both I really like this idea and am so here for it.
My senior year of college was in 2020/21. I was living an hour away from my fiancé, all my classes were moved online, and all the coping mechanisms I had spent the last two years working on in therapy to deal with academic and general anxiety were impossible to do. It was at this time that I found you through the metronome nuzlockes. I would play your long form videos or streams and play Pokémon. You made me feel so much less alone. I really do think of your streams and videos as a big part of how I made it through that year. I am so happy for this channel, and while my life is so different now as I am married and just had my first baby, I am still excited to listen to you talk about anything. Even the NFL which I have learned so much about from your streams despite not caring at all.
John, the videos you have put out have definitely been bright spots on those dark days when I needed a laugh or something to take my attention away from what was going on in my life. Been watching your content since the ORAS days, I had been struggling to find work at the time and was both depressed and discouraged but watching your content always made me feel better. Now I’m currently on LOA from work due to an injury and have been binging yours and Mikey’s content to both make myself feel better and as background noise as I work on artwork or while I’m relearning Zbrush. I remember when you hit 100k and made the second channel for the metronome nuzlocke.
