Great video by the way (as usual Lucas!) 😊 One thing I am using more than I expected in TickTick is the Eisenhower desktop widget. I often have it open on my second monitor to remind me what I need to focus on for the day. (I use tags and the filters on the matrix to hide all the irrelevant stuff.)

Nice! Good to mention that these widgets can display more than just lists and I'll definitely keep experimenting with it. I' m also loving the Habits widget on mobile!

Thank you. Measured, good review of (the move to) TickTick, which I am thinking of jumping onto. 2nd Video of yours that I just discovered and subscribed immediately. Again, thank you!

Great video, Lucas! I moved from todoist to ticktick as well and the main reason was the calendar view, which is fantastic in my point of view. Your videos are very helpful, thanks a lot!

Dear Lucas, first of all, thank you for the honest personal sharing of how difficult it was to migrate a task list from todoist to ticktick. Question, for additional insight: would you say the key problem is the import into ticktick, or the export from todoist? i.e. is there a decent structured data export from todoist supported? Also: if you were to switch back to todoist, would the data migration work any better the other way around?
@LucasPrigge
@LucasPrigge 2 года назад
Hey Lee, I think it's on TickTick as they claim to have a Todoist Importer so the burden is on them to make it work. Todoist backups can be exported as csv files and they look decently structured. I have not tried a TT>Todoist migration or looked at a backup yet so I can't comment on that in detail but it's an interesting future video idea!

I moved from Todoist to TickTick and then moved back to Todoist. Much smoother task entry and moving around in the app, especially since I need a good and snappy mobile app.

Your problems with moving from one app to another points to a big issue many people forget or do not consider: how exactly do you move your stuff from one app to another? My issue in moving from Notion to Obsidian is copy and paste did not work. Notions export too more time than I thought it would take.

Recently moved back to TickTick from Todoist and a lot of these issues seems to be fixed, for example my uncompletable tasks become notes. Weird issue I had was the last letter of a task missing. For example a task called Santander came over as Santande

Hello Lucas. I use GTD extensively and currently use Nirvana for a few years. I have been thinking of moving to facile things until I listened to your reviews and comparisons which have been very helpful. I have used Todoist a few years ago but found a few things that made it hard to implement GTD for my workflow. Specifically that you had to move tasks from a project to another list (next) which then lost the link to the project. I see how you have done this and am now reconsidering. I do like like ticktick but am concerned about what you said about their customer service/support. Have you had any further feedback and/or experience with this.

In tick tick, can you do "sequential lists" like you can with NirvanaHQ - i.e. only the next item in a list is shown, and the others only shown one by one, in turn, when that one is completed?

If your labels in Todoist were not transferred, maybe you should rethink your 'TickTick Tag tactics' ? 🤣 Great video yet again, I've subscribed. Cheers!

I think it was a poor decision to have music playing below your narration. Specifically look at 6:45 when it became louder than your voice.

Hi Lucas. How are you getting on with TickTick a few weeks later after your changeover? Anything you really miss from Todoist? Any regrets?! 😅
@LucasPrigge
@LucasPrigge 2 года назад
Hey Darius! Overall, still very happy with the move. The main thing I miss from Todoist is the ease with which I can move items to lists/sections through markdown. In TickTick, I'm finding myself moving items manually which is a bit of a pain when clarifying items from the inbox, but so far the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
@darius1b
@darius1b 2 года назад
@@LucasPrigge Thanks for your response. I'm trialling TickTick in earnest in parallel with Todoist and see how I get on, and then I will decide whether to make the switch. 😊 PS - You mentioned in your video that the import from Todoist didn't bring in your sections? It did for me. 🤔 Maybe they fixed it after watching your video?! 😄
@sam500
@sam500 Год назад
@@LucasPrigge Hi Lucas, just wondering how you are moving tasks from the inbox to sections in TickTick? Do you just move it to the target list first, then go to the list, and drag it to the appropriate section? I love how Todoist gives you the option to move inbox items straight to a section in the drop down menu. I wish TickTick would implement this. Also, do you know of any way to sort tasks by priority/due date while keeping them under their appropriate sections? Again, Todoist does this quite easily due to multiple grouping/sorting options. Overall I like TickTick better, but they seem to be missing some basic features for section users. Lastly, do you think it's better to keep events separate in google calendar, etc. with integration vs. trying to put everything in TickTick? I like the idea of having an Events/Appts folder in TickTick and just organizing everything there (one time, recurring, daily routines, etc.) with the same functionality in terms of calendar, notes, and checklists used for all other tasks, but I guess the main downside is that you would need to check each thing off when it is complete which can be a hassle (and/or rewarding I guess), especially if it's something that's recurring daily. Thanks for all your reviews and advice!

What I don't like in Tick Tick that you mentioned in one of your previous videos is not knowing who is on behalf of this company. As everybody said, Tick Tick is a Chinese company that doesn't have the same policies about security. When you put a lot of personal information in an application, this could be a major concern. One thing I hate about Tick Tick is the inability to undo things with the Windows application. Select a task, click to move to another list, select the list, click OK and now I wish you know the list that you choose because you don't have any ability to undo this action. Todoist is not perfect though, I recently noticed that when you do batch action and click the undo button, some of the selected tasks are not reverted. I think this is the thing I hate the most about Tick Tick and Todoist; they both have major bugs but are not the same which forces me to choose between the bugs that irritate me the least. I think Todoist has a more stable Android widget but the calendar integration of Tick Tick is a game-changer. But again, Calendar integration means a Chinese company exploiting your sensitive information. Hard to choose but you convinced me previously to keep Todoist just because of the company itself.

People need to stop their bias against Chinese companies, as if Google doesn't have x100 more relevant information by relating a single user's behaviour and preference across all their "free" services.
@LucasPrigge

Agreed on all points re: bugs in both tools & privacy concerns with TickTick. For me, extra features started to outweigh those concerns. I do want to emphasize that I've never nor will I ever make the country a software company happens to be based in an issue. It's not a criterium for software I review or use, I've reviewed software from all around the world and will continue to do so. In my comparison video on TickTick vs Todoist, I expressed concern about TickTick's secrecy on who they are as a brand/company, funding etc., but their location had nothing to do with that. Thank you both for expressing these concerns.
@robertmaxey5406
@robertmaxey5406 Год назад
Security is certainly a big issue. Who really knows what hides deep within in the code of Tick Tick. Heck, any other app for that matter. My criteria in choosing most apps is offline storage and access.

@@vitalis then China should clean up its act. There are many reasons not to trust that country. China recently had a breach where more than a billion records were released. Trust China? They have not really earned our trust.
@vitalis
@vitalis Год назад
@@robertmaxey5406 I don't care whether you or anyone else trusts China, nor even think one should trust anyone blindly. I take issue with people always pointing fingers at China while conveniently overlooking what we also do. Whatever you think China does, you would be a fool if you thought our goverments, agencies and companies aren't already doing. It is called naivety and hipocrisy.
