It has become way less "1v9" oriented. I tried climbing in these days, i'm more of a casual player who plays a couple weeks, then stops, and starts again like a month later, but it's still so frustrating to play. Even challengers say "you can climb in solo Q, because by improving and playing well you'll win more games and, *in the long run*, you make it to a higher elo": the percentage should be around 66% WR if you play good enough (may it be from 60 to 70%~), so out of 10 games you'll lose 3-4 games while you're playing ten times better than your teammates. What's the point then? What makes you want to play if the only purpose is to play extremely passive, carry your teammates and still lose at least 30% of your games? This video made me realise something: why do I play the game?
The truth is that you should probably play passive for most of most games. If you’re winning in resources, you should use your increased power to hold lane and farm more minions, lengthening your lead. If you’re losing, you shouldn’t engage and try to farm to catch up. Of course there’s ganks and team play that can push a stronger lane opponent or bad matchup to losing area control of the wave, all kinds of stuff. League of Legends is a game about walking around farming mobs until you have more gold and xp than your opponents for 15-20 minutes.
Couldn't agree more. The fact that the ability you have to solo carry a game has greatly diminished takes away your agency. Years back you could have two teammates who were absolute trash but if you focused and played your best you could easily 1v9, on any role (even as a support!). Now, as Bricky once said, the 6/0 Fiora cannot carry your game, but the 0/6 Lucian can absolutely lose you the game. I still play, mostly normals on my own, my friends quit but I still enjoy the game.

But you can't carry someone who has just mentally boomed and is trying to lose by running it down, spamming ff, lashing out and blaming everyone instead of just playing the game. The latter happens way more nowadays than the former, which is the real reason the 0/6 Lucian loses you those games.
@@artin3599 nah, enemy just has to many cc or auto aim 1000 damage ability's so theres no way to carry. You have to worry about to much, play super passive, and all that just for your team to run it down anyways. So why even go through that? only role that can consistently 1v9 is jungle and thats only on hyper carrys like viego, yi, belveth, etc. And even then the games get drawn out to 40+ minutes (when they should of been won in 20 mins) all because ur team just throws over and over, and end of the game damage numbers is always like "top: 8k dmg mid:16k, bot: 10k" and then jungle over 80k dmg all just to win ONE game for only 25 lp. Just to run into a troll or unwinnable game right afterwards and cancel out all that effort. Its, not, worth, the, effort. Its just not. Its not fun enough, its not rewarding enough, and it just feels bad. The only reason i still play is as a personal challenge to prove i can be good at these types of games since im a high elo FPS player. Games good, has many good aspects but it wants you to play a team game, yet you have no voice chat, no way to comm properly, 100 cc ability, 1000 things to think about, and all this effort can be taken away by a single person. Its just not good. If they want this game to be a team game, then voice chat needs to be added because otherwise theres really just no point to play. Games just last to long and its just tiring.
Game became so terrible in last 2 years, that is insane... i don't know how is in super high elo, but in plat and down is utter garbage, guys go play dota 2 might not be perfect, but you gonna feel like GOD in a lot of games when you become good player, and you won't feel like shit when you lose, long time ago we could not wait someone to go afk, so we can spend his money and get items to fight 2,3 vs 5 battle, is nothing like league, is much better experience, never felt unfair like league does.

I quit this game simply because there were too many players who would go unbanned after soft throwing and making the team lose. You can’t flame them or you get banned, but they can waste 30+ minutes of everyone’s time. There are a lot of losers in competitive live service games these days.
Not even just soft throwers, people actually trying their hardest still play just as bad. The reason for this is lack of communication, and it feels so bad because of the snowball nature of league. IF your going to have a competitive game thats snowbally and complex. It at a MINIMUM NEEDS to have a voice chat. The fact that we dont explains quite literally everything wrong with this game. The toxicity, the bad game quality, lack of agency, etc all stem from not having voice chat.
While i was hardstuck diamond i thought if i reach masters,then I may play better quality games with better teammates and opponets and less toxicity. When i hit master last split the game became even more toxic. I main jg and when i did 1 mistake whole team flammed me. Still felt like a coinflip game. We either dominate or get dominated from min 5. Trying to quit it now tbh..
Hey man. I am in a similar situation. I also main jungle and over the years as I slowly improved at the game (while watching challenger players) I just kept telling myself, it gets better in diamond, it gets better in master, it gets better in GM, and it surely gets better in challenger. I have l hit all these ranks except challenger and I just want to say, man, it does not get better. Some games you will have performing teamates and it is a good game but then other games it is just so miserable to play. As jungler, you will get all blame and flamed, even when your laners are 0/3 at 5 mins. You camp, a lane, secure all objectives, ready to carry with your strong side teamates, but the weakside teamates are so tilted out of their mind they start trolling and don’t care about winning because you didn’t play around them. It’s such a miserable experience. I don’t know how streamers deal with this garbage, 24 hours a day.
I recommend swapping to support, TK is like the most chill champ ever. You only have to learn that most adcs are probably not real people so it is not worth talking to them.
I saw a video from someone who plays on the CN server and it's a different ball game compared to us. They have actual in client tutorials for new players and each champ has it's own personalized tutorial, build path, and laning phase understanding. Toxicity is very minimal if non-existent. Players that exhibit bad behaviors get punished severely and they only have a 5 account limit for 1 phone number. I think if we take those two things and put them into NA and other regions I think that could solve most toxicity and smurfing problems. I also think toxicity stems from streamers and content creators too, Their viewers see how they act and they will act the same way. Remember Baus' inting sion strategy and how every low elo player tried to replicate it? Same concept on toxicity.

I would like to give my perspective, as a fairly enfranchised mid elo player (ended last split diamond 4 playing adc). I used to play a TON in high school, and play a lot less now that I no longer care as much about videogames, but I do play league for fun and I do play the ranked mode for the fun of the game and satisfaction of climbing. I also play normals to have fun off role or just chill. Points which Drew has made I want to respond to: ---> Competitive league is completely different and the game is only balanced for pros: The first part of this, competitive league is a different feeling game I 100% agree with. It's comical to me the decisions that players below emerald skill lvl will make, and I know there is an incredible skill difference between me and actual high elo players. However, I don't think the game is completely unbalanced for low elo. Based on my experience and also looking at stats; most characters are fairly balanced, and outliers do get addressed within a patch or two. --> Your team are donkeys, therefore EACH GAME IS A DICE ROLL The first part can certainly happen. diamond 4 is low elo. Anything below masters after season 6 is people who don't know the basics of the game. Other than that everything that you're saying just shows how clueless you are.

As someone who played this for a looong time (started 2011 but played more in 2012) i can pin point exact date when Leauge became that hated game that everyone is addicted to. Its not so long after you joined. And this is after first succesfull Esport event, the one that gave us Xpeke Kassidin win. After that in words, League team said "we want this game to be more team orianted, not just 1 guy carry 4 others". Yes the fact Riot wanted for league be more balanced made it less fun. Because after that they started doing things, like Nerfing Alistar so he can only be in support (he could flex to jungle and top) and it led to more champions not been flexed in to some roles (like Sona mid and later Pyke mid). Removing option that most champions can hard carry so some team mates can't have off-meta picks and have fun. Nerfed solo que in general, because climbing was easier back in the day with most champions winning 1v9. That of corse also ruin everyone else fun too, just on fact they lose more games. After that some roles for some champions or gameplay of some champions was FORCED to be centrain things. And it also FORCED players to co-op. But many of you ask "how? Isn't this supose to be team game". Well i parafrase quote from creatos of TEAM FORTRESS 2 and it goes "we tried to make this game more about team play, but longer people play the game it became more frustrating on fact some people liked to play centrain ways and it didnt mash good with others. So we gone back, added more players to fix deficiency in cooperation aspect. Now each player can do their thing and if someone lack of skills there is more people to make up for it. But this also make it look like your team is acually cooperating, like you could look up on your engie building teleporters, sniper taking out priority targes and medic healing and say to your self (wow were making great team)". I think overall I agree with a lot of what you say here. I’ve been keeping up with league but I haven’t really played much or at all for about 4 years. I think the game is a good game, one of the best, but the game design and matchmaking system have just made playing the game more stressful than fun. I do want to say that I disagree on one point, and it’s on the game balance stuff. The game balance has been horrendous for a long time, but I think it’s intentional in a weird way. It is their tool to make artificial “changes” that “keep the game fresh”. The part I disagree with is that the game can’t be balanced. No game will ever be perfectly balanced, but they can be balanced better or worse at any given time. Riot could make the game a lot more balanced than it has been since Season 8. Further to that point is that items aren’t a problem inherently. The problem with them is that they have become way too powerful, and the game has become “which champion can abuse the items the most” as far as meta. I know way back in early days some items were busted like stacking sunfire cloaks, or Death Fire Grasp, but there was a time where items were in a great place overall, like Season 3-7.
Yeah I remember season 5-6 being the best I ever played, itemization was important but was so more the strategic element in both itemizing and fighting. Let alone macro game it felt more diverse. Nowadays I only see fight after fight after fight with what I perceive as: let's just smoke em and get objectives. Before we had stuff like backdoors and stuff like that. It was way more exciting than today imho

I got the last of my mythic essence I wanted and I got my hextech annie, and now my account is waiting patiently for the shyvanna rework. Ranked right now with the current ladder is a mess. In my solo q games I was consistently getting paired up against previously ranked gold+ players in my Iron 2 games. The highest my account has ever reached in solo q from hard one tricking shyvanna was Silver 2. I constantly all chat gl hf, then I instantly mute everyone. There isn't anything that my team mates can type to me to help me win the game, and the only thing is when the opponents have consistent ward coverage, I have a very hard time dealing with it because no one on my team communicates effectively. There should be pure solo q, I'd wait 5 + minutes more for a real solo q experience. But yeah I put in 40 games this stretch in between work and school, and it's just filled with smurfs and highly disrespectful players. It directly effects my mood and I work customer service so it's really shitty to go into work after a loss.
I like that, currently 2 minuets in and haven’t heard a negative thing yet. I feel like a lot of people are way too clickbaity with the negatives and blow all the tiny things out of proportion in addition to being cool with being incredibly disrespectful to other players just because they aren’t as skilled at the game as they are. I have way too many reasons for loving this game, it’s my favorite game, but I always feel the need to see and understand why others don’t get the same satisfaction that I do
Not fully true. You can't even tell ppl constructive things anymore. They immediately tilt. That may be because of the General toxic atmosphere that makes ppl very sensitive. But it is a fact, that there are too many uneducated players or disrespectful players that have no problem going into ranked with a first time pick or a 36% WR Champion. On the other side you have way too many Smurfs in the game and a fair Matchmaking between Smurfs and Trolls / Incompetent Players. And I am very sure, that Riot knows who is who. There was once a report for incompetent players and there should have been one for Smurfs from the start and Smurfing needed to be banned.
I love to see a video about this topic made with so much honesty and not just saying "the game is now trash bla bla bla" but very solid points! I agree with everything you said here, I just don't find those points to be absolute deal breakers for me. I did stop playing ranked on PC League a few years ago, but I still love playing Normals just for kickers.
Idk, i just keep asking myself why am i playing? What's the objective? To win? To be the best at something that won't feed me? It isn't even relaxing, there will always be someone better then you if you're not willing to give your life away to be the best. And them if you are the best then what? What are you playing for then? And for this i just don't feel prompted to play anymore. It's just a never ending cycle. The game does not end at the victory/defeat screen. What's the resolution? With this, i took a step back and i only play games that end, story games, and which actually teach you something or maybe not, but the point is that they end, you can move on!
8:50 I hevent seen much toxicity in league past like 3 months. Only enemy typing "ez" only at the end of the game bcs tjey are scared of feedback if they type this earlier. I get a lot of kind people in team, me: "Havent seen riven for years im scared :\" team:"Bro just attack him your trundle" "Yeah bonk him" smth like that, i carried game with that positive team. Only toxic thing there was pinging blitz whenever he tried to flash + q, well kinda sad, he wants to try and learn and making mistakes is important. Its hard for me to blame those people, some of them might be selfish assholes but some of them were taught to be toxic, or just are toxic in defensive way like flaming before getting flamed.
i noticed for myself that the time i was enjoying myself was far outweighed by the time i felt stressed, frustrated or outright miserable while playing the game, so i stopped. Every once in a while i reinstall for a short time, just to come to the same conclusion again.
Vanguard is so good it practically crashes your game for no reason and then you need to search on YT how to repair this error by removing file and reinstalling Vanguard. And still you'll be harrased from RIOT bc you were AFK bc of vanguard bug. I had recently experience it during 3 matches in row, and... in one game me and 3 other guys had the same problem.
My first ever game of league was in 2021. I got very very addicted. Got emerald on all roles and got diamond on support and adc. My main is lvl 380 and I have a smurf I use to play ranked with friends occasionally. This game makes me miserable. I've been trying to quit for a year, but I keep getting reeled in. The longest time I've quit this game for was about 6 months. God I hate this game so much. That being said, I am making an effort to quit permanently.
The toxicity fight was failed when they started to force everyone to "just mute them all" even pings too, so the already lack of communication grown less and less "just type Karthus R in the chat" but if no one see it ...
I was playing since april 2014, with a little break for a few months when my PC broke in 2018, and this year I finally managed to stop. When my friends moved on I saw that I have really no reason to play, I don't enjoy it solo, just as a mean to connect with other and cooperate. I think I will never get back to playing ranked games etc. but I'm open to playing once a month or so, when somebody asks me to do it. Maybe with time, when you become an adult, you start to value your time more and having shiny diamond rank in a game isn't that important anymore, for me that was the case, I lost the drive to compete. P.S. you're completely right with lack of content, they are soooo lazy with everything, no new modes, they are not even able to put on christmas map, the game is relying on addicts to sustain itself

I still played before because even though teammates were bad sometimes I still felt like I could carry games, but now? I don't feel that and sometimes I even verbally said I would only still play because I was addicted, now? I don't even play anymore, it's not just unfair from riot putting bad teammates but you're forced to play the meta or your champ will just be too weak to even have a chance to do something.
NGL you have managed to make league seem so much depressing than it ever has to me speaking as someone who regularly plays ranked(currently d2) and the parts of league that keep me personaly coming back went by unmentioned. It's like you and i logged into the same client and played different games. The fun part of league, the cumulative decision leading to large payoffs, the complex macro game played by the 10 man collective, all the things that give league value as a competitive game were just ignored in favor of surface factors like meta and balance that dont matter much unless you're at the top level. Where i do agree is that the toxicity is a major issue but stuff like "every game has 3 competent players and 7 donkeys" just sounds like a depressing way to think because if you lose to one of the so called donkeys, you just feel like shit, the reality is that every game has 10 humans and when you recontextualise the game like that, the wins feel achieved and the loses can be forgiven. Not to mention it helps be a little empathetic towards the ither people on in your team because if they're thinking that you're a donkey, they probably wont have any empathy for your situation in the game and doing it back perpetuates more toxicity. I would love it if league did something to humanise players more so people can keep in mind that they're playing with other humans
League is a Very unforgiving game and not made for weak mental people it's either u will shit on someone or someone will shit on u especially in toplane. So for u to have fun it will mean that Ur enemy won't have any at all and vice versa.. U can see this as it's weakness or it's strength depends on each person, the game is just very competitive and doing one mistake will most often lead to at least 15 minutes of suffering but ofc when Ur winning it's very satisfying

I think you make some good points. Visual clarity is at an all time low even though Riot says it is really important to them. I think you are wrong about chat being a tool in this game one is supposed to use. Voice-comms would actually open a whole new dimension to the cooperation you can have in the game, but you cant type 'Here comes my R' in chat before you ult as Malphite.
Your video struck a chord and I put a lot of time into this comment so please bear with me. I want to address a few points because these "why i quit LoL" videos are always mostly cope conjured to justify someone growing up and their mentality around the game changing. 5:59 League isn't balanced and never will be. That is partly because, as you said, that would be impossible, but also because that would be boring. Riot August went on record multiple times saying that when things get "too balanced" people complain even more and player satisfaction plummets. I don't know why but that's how it is. Besides, I guarantee you that every single game you lost in your life can be traced down to mistakes you made, and not because enemy Kha'Zix had 0.5% higher winrate than usual on that patch. As a sidenote, removing items would make League just a different game. It's such a drastic change it's not even worth bringing up as a balancing option. It's like if you changed the camera in Counter-Strike to third person. It changes the core foundation of the game. 8:28 The game is less snowbally now than it ever has been. Games aren't decided in less than 10 minutes in high challenger, let alone whatever elo you played in where someone will regularly gift the enemy team a 1000 gold shutdown or a full turret for seemingly no reason. Keep in mind that in the times you idealize the bounty system didn't even exist. Objectively there are more comebacks in League now than ever before in history. 9:38 I don't know when you last played but Riot is more effective than gestapo at shutting down undesirable speech. If you say a blacklisted word you get instantly muted mid-match. Iif you get a few reports for toxicity it's an almost guaranteed penalty, to the point where nowadays there's a ton of false positives. Riot also said in a recent devblog that they'll be tuning their detection of soft inting, but nothing's come of that yet so that's just something to keep in mind. Anecdotally, when it comes to hard inting, I got 2 inters banned last week and other than that in emerald-ish elo I rarely ever see anyone int, so I assume the system is working well enough. At the end of the day it's a competitive game. People want to win and they get emotional. That's not a League issue, it's just human nature. 12:18 No it's not. League is like poker in that sense. You can't have 100% winrate, there exist some factors outside of your control, but with a large enough sample size of games, if you are better than the elo you're in, you will win significantly more than you lose. I know people don't like to hear this because I'm killing their scapegoat, but everyone deserves the rank they're in. The only outliers are people who haven't played enough matches to get an accurate rating, and people who got boosted (which nowadays is significantly more difficult than it used to be). Other than that, you can look at a vod of any league match ever played and you will find reasons for why this specific person is that specific rank. The likelihood of you carrying a game is not slim like you think, odds are you were just never curious enough to truly try and get better. It depends what you want out of the game. If you want to be the best you can, then you can't be making weak excuses. If you're just looking to have casual fun with friends, what are you doing worrying if you won or lost? 13:30 Again, EVERY player is ranked where they deserve to be. You might not have the insight to know what that reason is, but it exists. If you don't believe me you can watch an episode of Broken By Concept, especially episode 152 I think would apply here. League is a stupidly complex game, and it's incredibly arrogant to assume that you know whether or not someone the same rank as you should be lower. You have no idea what they're good at in the same way you have no idea what you're bad at. Just because someone went 0/5 in lane doesn't mean they deserve to be insta-demoted to Iron, it only means they probably deserve to lose that one game. Playing solo is amazing. Imo it's the best competitive experience you can have in any online game. It forces you to confront all your weaknesses and overcome them if you want to climb. This confrontation is what breaks a lot of people like you, and forces them to conjure up boogeymen to protect their ego. I know this was a wall of text, but even if you're never gonna touch League again, ditching this loser mentality will help you tremendously no matter what you do in life. Have a good day.
@@drewweisenborn9601 I didn't mean that as an insult to you. "Loser mentality" or a "losing mentality" is an actual term for when someone says things like "it's not me, it's my team". Logical fallacies that lead to a lack of personal growth. Everyone's guilty of this at one point or another, including me, that's why I said even if you never touch League again it's good to ditch thinking like that. Instead ask yourself productive questions that give you control like "how could I have won that game?", instead of saying things that take control away from you like "I couldn't do anything, my team was shit". Thinking like that makes people bitter and miserable in the long run.
@@RocoPwnage Okay I understand now. Yes that's been a mentality that I only found myself having when I played league. I'm always learning and trying to be positive, and I'm usually not thinking like that in life. I noticed a while back that League of Legends brought out that mentality in me and I didn't like seeing myself act that way. That's a big contributor to why I stopped.
High elo and ex amateur pro player here also a jungle main. In short league is less enjoyable for me mainly because of the todays meta, todays gameplay and riot being a gay company. 1. Meta - Tanks in the jungle the best and with highest winrate champs. And the jungle is really boring to play right now. Backup xp is op, you cant outjungle in todays league worse players because of the gayest changes in league that you cant leave 1 raptor or 1 wolf to dont respawn the camp in enemy jungle. 2. Gameplay - It is turbo easy to lose lead even if you are stomping first 20 minutes of the game, scaling is too broken if you can play the game properly as the whole team and it is a way harder to 1v9 the game right now in soloq than it was even in low elo. 3. Riot games - You cant say shit on the chat because you are getting banned for everything but you can run down your adc by taking waves as a support, destroy waves on botlane and you wont get banned. Whats the best probably you will get banned for talking to him. Yeah i still play league but i found out it less enjoyable than it was. Maybe i grew up or maybe it got worse. Nowadays i only enjoy getting to high elo and quitting after i hit gm/chall.
Ive been playing since day 1 when they only had 20 champs. The game simply isn't fun for solo Q players or casual play. Every aspect of the game is a chore and all balance changes are catered towards competitive play. Everything else is focused on the shop to maximize profits. It just takes too much effort to have "fun" in this game. And yes league has the absolute worst community. Its toxic and riot hasnt cared for its entire existence. Theres nothing worse than forcing your success into the hands of 4 randoms who all have different agendas resulting in wasting 60 mins because one person refuses to surrender.

I stopped playing league because it's a disaster, it's not fun, I loved rotating game modes like spellbook and urf and especially arena until they nerfed everything and made MMR work properly As for main game, farming minions is NOT fun 99% of the time, it's champion vs champion and not skill, playing trynda vs malph and you get to do nothing! Playing yasuo vs renekton and you get to do nothing! So many counters that make you unable to lane, which would have been fine if not for the fact you stay behind for the entire game unable to do anything Anyways, I LOVE deadlock, as long as you farm, you will stay relevant in the game, no strings attached since everyone can shoot from far Something already mentioned in the video is getting set behind from a single kill, which leads me to the problem which is games are incredibly short and practically decided from the start due to snowballing being so insane
Good video. Ranked Solo Q should be removed from the game completely. It's a team-based game. It would solve so much of the toxicity and trolling. Ranked flex should be the only option and people can decide if they want to queue with or without people. Deleting rune pages is a good start to better balance the game. Items & champs could be focused on after.
It's a multiplayer PVP game, what do you expect? Of course it was meant to be competitive... If you wanna play something fun, this game ain't for you. There are other PVE or Co-Op games that are fun to play. But trust me, any PVP game it will become competitive at some point in the future

It is crazy you say League is imbalanced and that there should be no items. That coupled with the first 3 minutes being exposition of a topic that needs zero is crazy. This literally could be a 2-3 minute video you made 3 points that are not in depth.

Absolutely right. Doesnt matter how good you are on your own but you cant do shit on your own end your team just pull you down with them. I mean you can be 20/0 and if lost its a loss and you lose LP.. so what that you did well? loss is a loss. And just like that based on your being unlucky and getting bad team mates you are stuck in ello you dont belong. All you get from leag ranked games is being metaly tired of giving you all and still loosing.. whole day of trying to get into promos and instead get demoted. Report system doesnt do anything since even if they are 0/20 as long as they "did something" and "tried" they wont get punished.. but if you call them bad and etc.. you getting punished instead.. Feels like staring into wall is more intertaining, and waste of time. Talking about chat i just mute it all since its just shit fest. I have no clue why pings are in the game if spam pings and they all ignored of you cant even ping at all, simply doesnt work.. Ppl ignoring all the pings just proves the point that people are deaf and blind in this game if they cant see or hear pings.
I just want to say you are a weird weird person if the first thought in your head for why you play a video game is "Because I've played it for a long time" Most people play video games for fun. The first thought in your head should just be because it's fun lol. If it wasn't fun you really shouldn't be playing it. Thousands of other games, and a whole world out there. So much other stuff you be doing if you are not enjoying yourself.
Show some self love and play Mobile Legends or Honor of Kings instead (if you still want to play a competitive game). At least there the match making won't purposefully thrown in a 10 game loss streak game just because the game felt like it
8 out of 10 games botlane sucks hard, i play jungle and my duty is to get the objectives(dragons,herald) but the idiots on botlane never help or react to pings to assist me. The result is to flame me after that i did nothing at all 😅😂. Also midlaners after level 6 should clear waves and then try to rotate the map top or bot respectively,but instead you see guys root on mid only farming while their opponent is ravaging our botlane. All this up to platinum tier full of unskilled players.
@@takitsan79 Yes I feel that same way when I jungle. There's alot of pressure on jg and they often get blamed for stuff when they don't know who to blame.
Nobody playing this game is happy not even the people who get paid to play, anyone who leaves are actually leaving the people still playing behind, any one that sits for hours a day in front of a screen doing something they don't enjoy is a loser. Being addicted to a game is nothing to be proud of.

@@TRVPHAUS The majority of league of legends players definitely do not enjoy or feel happy playing the game. It's purely an addiction within themselves thinking they have to prove themselves better. These streamers don't enjoy the game but it's their bread and butter.
