Because you paid 70k for a car that needed 30k in upgrades to keep up with a 63k Supra, that can't keep up with a 65k M2, which is more boring to drive then a 50k Mustang, while thinking, "I could have had a Z51 Corvette."
I think were all realizing that most new cars are just to expensive to modify and too much of a hassle to work on yourself and old cars are just more fun
As an Evo X owner I wasn’t impressed from the jump on this Z.. The Supra will end up holding its value and looks and feels better behind the wheel. Not to mention Mods are friendlier than they are to put on than the Z
Guys if your dream is a Z work for it don’t change your word cuz of RU-vidrs words, remember the car is NEW, parts will be cheaper by time, if you don’t like to modify your car just wait this is the FIRST YEAR so probably later this car will be better. Yuh that’s it 😃👍
@@icannon6611 seriously, no one else is having as big of a problem cranking out their performance cars. there's probably more FL5 Type-R's on the road. and then dealers are trying to mark them up? gross.
Thats not the entire issue. Inflation continues to skyrocket. The average car enthusiast of the 90s and early 2000s doesnt fucking exist anymore. Cars are literally for rich people at this point ina tax bracket thats different from most of us. We now have focus more on groceries, rent, house payments etc because everything else has skyrocketed. At the end of the day we have get our priorities straight. The days of middle/low income car enthusiast is over.
I've loved every past generation of Z for looks & performance. This generation? Looks YES Performance? Ehhh? Price? Hahaha ha, you gotta be kidding me!
Automobile manufacturers pay attention, dudes with modified Ferrari’s in their home garage think the payments on new cars are too outrageous to justify. When I was a kid a six figure car was a Ferrari now it’s an f150.
How much did a burger cost back when you were a kid? Or an egg? Or a gallon of petrol? How do you expect car manufacturers to dodge the insane inflation?
@@jaromor8808 but Ferrari are limited production cars. The F150 is a 300,000 unit/yr vehicle and should not cost $75k-$125k regardless of trim. Every single new pickup on the lot needs to be 35%-50% less than the sticker says and don't get me started on the additional equipment/pkg sticker 😡. Both dumb ppl with and without money drove the price of trucks up because it was seen as the new D-segment luxury ride. "Who needs a Mercedes or BMW, I have Silverado 3LT special edition" ....whoopdee fricken whoo....
i love these videos, but after a while the film camera transition with the whoosh noise takes me out completely. (your editor used it 22 times in 7 minutes) i know this is a car channel and not one that makes movies, but the best editing is the kind that is unnoticed. hope this helps, love ur cars
@@Adizzle235Exactly, he couldn’t afford it. He could either afford the car or hanging out with his friends. He chose the friends over the car aka, he couldn’t afford the car. OP is right.
@@Adizzle235He could afford the car yes but he couldn’t afford to keep it. Just because you have the money to purchase a car doesn’t mean you have the money to maintain it over the long run. It’s the same reason why people complain about expensive maintainence on european vehicles. Because most of them are middle-class who buy expensive cars.
I think it’s very telling that the very first compliment he gave the Z was its infotainment system. And the second compliment was that it’s great on long highway drives.
Of course he mentioned the infotainment system first.. isn't that what all young guys care about? I wish there was a delete option for infotainment systems...JUST GET IN AND DRIVE THE DANG THING!!!
@@paulkile9998 good point, but a good infotainment is important to me. my '10 edge has the settings in there for the sound, screen, etc, but i mainly use it just for the music to see whats playing and all. for those first ~30 sec i interact with it, it then gets turned off for the rest of the drive. i must say that being able to disable the screen by an easily accessible button is equally important. i cant stand the bright ass screen when driving.
I have a 2024 Z, it’s black, manual with the blue interior. It’s on Nismo coilovers, which gets rid of that touring feel completely. You wouldn’t believe how much attention and love it gets when I’m out and about. You’d think I was driving an exotic. There are a lot of Z enthusiasts out there who are excited to see it because they’ve never seen one in person. I think that’s fun, and really enjoy having something different. If you can afford the car you like, buy it. It’s that simple. It’s about to get the Alpha 5 kit from AMS for $4,200 and will make 500 whp. For me, that’s a pretty good value that I’m excited about. Just wanted to chime in as a Z owner, give y’all a dif perspective. Cheers.
Huge fan of the Z and have been looking to try and pick on up near me. I see a 2024 sport package near me for 5k below msrp and don't know if I should look around for a performance package one or just to pull the trigger on this one
for 45k its not bad at all its a great deal the civic type r and mustang gt is the only real competitors. the dealer markup is what ruined them but they are back to msrp now and very good deal.
There are some comments saying Because you can't mod new cars. The thing is you can buy a new car that has 400 HP and race suspension from the factory. It doesn't even need modifying. Buying a 90s car, repairing and giving the mods to get the same level of performance would cost you more than the new car.
Facts. I'm modifying an old datsun right now. I'm at the point where I'm like.. damn.. I could have had a GR86 instead, and it would be a whole lot safer, easier and more reliable. You're right, new cars really don't need any mods. $4k+hours on a brand new car because you don't like how it sounds? 3k because you want cute wheels? First world problems if I ever heard them. He didn't even wear out the stock rubber before changing them.
you sold it because you bought it for clout and content and the vids werent doing good we get it. its not an interesting car i still havent even seen one in person
I totally understand why you sold it. The expenses are too much nowadays. I, too, enjoy older cars. Cars that you rarely see and are often overlooked. I get a lot of joy breathing new life into them, too. Not the same excitement from a new car.
Remember when 220 hp in your 3000 gt was the first time you thought you felt real power and the first time you accidentally dropped the clutch you just kept it pinned because you knew you could stock and a lil rundown with a smile
Just sold my Elantra N, got in and out of it for about $2500. 2 years and 22k miles. Great car but like you, I didnt want the car payment anymore, and it was expensive to do fun things with the car. Picked up a 2019 Fiesta ST for $11k and im loving it so far. I think I may just prefer hatches honestly, but it has everything i need and its very angry car. It a companies my NB Miata very well
Love hatchbacks. Sadly the only proper hatchbacks that I can think of that can be bought new are Golf and MINI. Wish Honda will bring back a proper looking hb.
The Z is a great second or third owner car. It still has double wishbone suspension. Handles tunes pretty well. It would do great with some coilovers and sways.
This Z will definitely be very desirable in the long run... like what most car enthusiast get wrong everytime. We tend to ignore something great until they're already old. And then end up wishing they made more of them.
Let me write the honest version of this video. We paid $65k for what we thought was a sports car, but ended up being a grand tourer at best. We looked at the interior and said, wow, I seen 30k cars with better materials. But we already bought the car and said, let's make money on youtube content. We put in 20k in mods and realized no one was really watching because a Z costing more than 50k TTL included is an exercise in futile delusion. And we think this car may soon depreciate to depressing numbers so we quit while we were ahead. But if we want to keep a relationship with our sponsors? We can't call this Z a POS minus the engine.
Alex, been following you since the Fitment days. I like that you are into weird cars. I had a Toyota Corona EXiV JTCC version 3SGE with recaro confettis from the factory. One thing about owning weird cars is that no on knows or cares about them and then parts become just a nightmare to find. $250+ for used window regulators that constantly break. I like your content and wish you the best. I hope you get some weird cars
My first car was a 95 Subaru SVX that I bought for 3300 bucks. Always wondered how I got it so cheap until ai cracked the rear quarter panel and it took me 5 months on ebay to find a replacement and it ended up being $400 lol
@@menace2society00 Loved those cars,my boy had one back in the day ,it was only few years old and would turn heads at high school back then with its low slung coupe design and unique windows all around,..The car handled very well in all conditions with the great AWD system and robust 3.3 230 horse flat six,..Great ,unique car in all aspects...
@@frankbasile3662 I miss mine all the time 😭 Truly great cars and looked good too, Delorean style windows always got looks and make it easy to smoke with windows down back when I smoked lol
Good choice on selling that off! The 350 and 370's are a better bang for the buck and the mods are so much cheaper too. It feels like pretty much anything at the Z's price point is a better sports car too.
@@2seep Throwing more money at an already way overpriced car just doesn't seem like a great idea to me. I'm glad people are liking the car though and hopefully Nissan will keep making them. Maybe the next version will be one I like more. Until then I've got my 370 and couldn't be happier :)
@@ravendarkcreations5990this is why people should buy the base version. At 42k it’s a good point to start. Especially since everything upgraded in the performance model has much better aftermarket version. Alex also decided to buy the most expensive parts which isn’t necessary.
@@2seep Excellent points for sure! I still don't think I'd go for the new Z with so many other good options on the new or used market for that money though. Definitely personal preference though.
Cars are pretty much only for the rich these days. Im really waiting for the breaking point. In a way its greedy automakers. But also the demands of customers and governments and competition keeps adding new things and rasing prices. But unrelated its buying power is in the gutter. I dont see how its sustainable. I understand why more and more people are anti car and want alternatives. Even a econmy car payments, insurance, and maintenance is just back breaking.
The prices you mention are the same for all new sports cars. And the mods you did are done on all of the current platforms. In short modding new cars are expensive.
Not exactly the same car, but I had an old Datsun Z that I adored and then later I bought a 370Z when it was still a late model car.. It never lived up to what I thought it should have been; my old Datsun was more raw and enjoyable in almost every way, unless you just wanted to look at a stats sheet. I felt that you needed to sink quite a bit of money into the 370 with mods to bring it up to where it should have been from the get-go.. but maybe that's the just the way it is with a lot of newer cars that are still trying to appeal to as large of a market-share as they can.
The 370Z is basically a tourer (GT) car, the new Z being the same chassis with a different drive train and body kit makes sense it would still feel like a tourer.
Saw my first current Z in the wild only a few weeks ago. Unbelievable that it would take this long for it to happen since I live in a major metropolitan area.
I'm in the SF Bay Area, All kinds of money flowing in this area, and I have yet to see a new Z here either. Honestly I had kinda forgotten about it all together.
@@brandons9138 - yeah me too in SF (proper). This week alone I’ve seen more than a handful of newly delivered GR Corolla with temporary license plates roaming the streets.
The new Z's are rare because they have not made a lot of them, supposedly due to part shortages. Plus they are overpriced by the dealers. I live south of LA and have seen about a half-dozen of them. Only seen one of those new GR Corollas'. Seen way more new Corvettes than transgender Supra's. In fact there are more used Supra's for sale that people don't want than there are new Z's for sale.
The number one thing that prevents middle class people retiring millionairs is car payments. The average person does a car payment until the car almost paid off, then trades it in for a new car payment, until they retire. But if you put that 900 dollars into a savings or the stock market (not being a trader bro, just a general basic General Electric or the like, somthing that the government will never allow to go bankrupt) over the course of your working life, you'll retire a millionaire. So good on you for getting rid of that thing!!
I ever have I ever driven a Nissan? Yes, I have. I'm no person that has a RU-vid channel. But Nissan's are not a bad car. They're not a great car. They're are good cars. Nothing is perfect. Some things on these people that test drive cars or have high expectations and again. I am no can block, but I can drive cars. There are things we could do with cars. Yes, modifications. Away from the factory, but yes, factory could have done better. Unfortunately, yes, the factory is trying to get around emissions and make good cars cause companies do make good cars. The companies that make good cars. Unfortunately, have to buy by laws, but unfortunately yes, I think it is a good car. There are problems. Yes, people don't like automatic specter. Things that automatically do in vice versa. Manuals could do that. Vice versa that automatically do and people don't have the skills. At least some people don't have the skills to do. What a manual does compare to a computer but yes, no, I'm not a big fan of computers. I do like bear bones muscle cars just like back in the day of barebones, Japanese cars, you know. Stick shift, learn. That's a slide a car, but again too many things about hating. Nissan habid hating cars, but Nissan is a good. Yes, they could apply spent a billion $, but they played didn't want to to make a car and use parts from previo. Use parts in your bed. And so it's still a good car and if you're just going to sell your car, it's like you respond to say, to someone, then don't have a RU-vid channel. You know, buy cars. Keep them use them. Make some good comments about cars. Don't trash cars so much that you have a high expectations. But I'm just some amateur guy that drives cars and. That's all I see. Is people posting videos cars suck? Blah? Blah blah. It's not a bad car Nissan if I could ever get an old 1 2 40 z in it's not a bad car. There's things you could do with that. Make it fast and if you're not into going faster, it's not a curves. They have depends on what you use it for but Nissan is a good car. I do like these videos. Just trying out the bash cards a lot.
Why did you think this was a good idea in the first place? What was the initial plan? What kind of videos were you planning on making exactly with this thing?
I always found you to be the most likeable guy back in the FI days.. been following you since the start and always thought that the Z was not the right car for you. An amazing car dont get me wrong, but there is something about building a car the way you want versus just buying a new one. Very curious where the channel goes!❤ ❤❤❤
My favorite build was an 05 cobalt Base model 5 speed. I bought an $800 replic Vader kit and wing on some period proper 12 spoke konigs. A two tone rattle can job inside and out. A proper dc car back and intake on the 1.8l NA nugget. The entire build was a joke I named it uncle Ben because it was American Rice. The appreciation from little kids as I drove by was constant.
One of the worst new gen cars to finance lol i knew he was going to sell it the same day he posted that he financed it. All models need to be $40k CDN (Not USD) new or less
They should have left it alone all these computers and uncessary crap on it and left body style alone. Just boost hp and torque make it lighter. Give me a simple fast sports car. I got 2007 350 pure feel simple sports car no uncessary computer crap.
I don’t think the aftermarket is there, also the price point is ridiculous. The Z line is suppose to be an affordable sports car, if they wanted to make it so expensive should’ve made an infinity variant, also no LSD in the base model for nearly 50k is insane. Should’ve got the gr86 and built it
why did you buy 1 in the first place? probably would have been best to decline the offer...then walk when they gave you the price. I can think of better cars to build the brand around....
The Nissan Z, at least from what I've seen, had all this hype and after it came out I stopped hearing everyone talk about it. I could be wrong, but it just seemed like it came out, people weren't really impressed, and few people cared about it anymore.
I used to really want this car once it went into production and even the recent model changes, but at base prices even with depreciation you’d be better off buying a Beamer with the extra seats for the same price…. Didn’t make sense price wise for how little was changed
The datsun z was to copy the jaguar e type.. IT WAS ALWAYS MENT TO BE A F-ING GRAND TOURING CAR!!!!!!! I hate the trash out of peoples mouth . Ask nissan the intent! Not the local car meet drifters
Never again will I own a car that’s more than $600/month. The bank says I can “afford” a car that’s $2,200 a month/$120,000. But nooooo thanks. Ima stick with my paid off cars. My 50/50/25 rule of 50% down. 50% financed. 25% saved for repairs/mods/after purchase care.
Hey choosing to hire friends than keeping a car shows heart and love towards your friendships, no car is worth more than life long friendships. Cars will come and go, good for u man following all of u from fitment industry days. doing the right thing matters, in this case u did the right thing. ❤
Just get a 350z/370z instead for way cheaper if you still want to do z content. We would all appreciate one of those instead of the new ones and way more content to shoot.
Just started the wijeo (shoutout Uncle Roger), but i'm willing to bet that he just realized it was a reskinned q60 red sport with the same old manual from before and was completely underwhelmed, lol.. Edit: I was partially correct.. definitely underwhelmed.. Was expecting something more than what Nissan offered up... but Nissan had to pinch pennies and work with what they had in the parts bin.. Bottom line, the juice (feelings from the car) wasn't worth the squeeze ($900/mo)..
My take is that the price really influences the expectations. If the sport trim started in the 30s and the performance was 40s, I think it would be an awesome option. But since you’re closer to 60k otd, it’s just not a reasonable option new.
As a Z fan I like it but I wouldn't get it. It's way too close to to C8 and 718 territory 2 cars that are far superior in every way. The BMW I will never be a fan of just because I despise Toyota for what they did with that car.
