Screen a little bigger that's it but the ROG speakers louder the fans quieter easier to upgrade a little and more durable if dropped but both are good and get good reviews so either one is fine
While the Lenovo Legion Go has good features being limited to a 2242 m.2, 16GB versus 24GB and a 49.2WHr is the many things that keep me on the Ally X.
mainly is the battery and ram but x couldnt be a tablet,no fps mode and no bigscreen. its a versatile device. ally x isnt 2x better than lego in terms of gaming. i say its only .5x better norhing major🤷♂️
@NewmanOnGaming mines rocking a fast 2280 wd black sn850x 2tb within the stock back cover no problemo :) the 16gb tho, yes a bit more would've been nice. Something to await alongside z2 extreme I hope next yr.
@@Rr-j4xagreed battery life for the X is nice if you really mind carrying around an extra chord and a portable battery pack. If you can handle that the kickstand, removable joy cons, the abilities this device has smokes the ally X When the LeGo two comes out with better battery life and a new chipset Lenovo will be ruling the handheld pc world
The Ally X has been my go to for when I am traveling. Much smaller and easier to fit in a small backpack on a plane, even in a case. But when I am lounging around the house I always grab the Legion Go. The big screen is amazing.
Legion display is what makes the major difference in why this handheld is the best hands down, 7inch compared to 8.8 is no contest. Looking forward to Legion 2 while I'm still enjoying my Legion since Launch.
@@ItsOleg It looks absolutely excellent. I fired up supposedly simple indie game like The Swords of Ditto or Stardew Valley and was so amazed at how well they looked on that screen, it's like an HD remaster of those games. On my Ally they look tiny and washed-out in comparison.
I love, love, LOVE my Legion Go. That screen is simply sublime. I wish it had the Ally X's software and battery life, but these are drawbacks I can definitely live with, as both have workarounds via 3rd party apps and battery packs.
While I can agree both handhelds are amazing and we should respect everyone’s decision. I’m happy that you are able to enjoy the Legion go to the fullest and it’s your handhelds of choice 🙏💕.
added a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to mine, and a webcam to use whatsapp, I love this thing, i 3D printed a Dock, and it holds the usbc adapter and battery pack
Thanks for the update, I still am not sure what handheld I will be getting. I feel like right now isn't the best time but I am also on a desktop and happily gaming.
If you want to pull up the keyboard you can also press that setting option on the right side and it’s the 4th option that should display system quick settings
Version 2 of Legion Go, when? Just need more RAM, a full 2280 slot, more battery, quieter fans, a native landscape screen, VRR, and improved ergonomics. 👀🙏❤️
How is it a 7" is too small for an handheld device 🤔 😳 🤷 If the PS VITA was successful. What do you think a PS VITA 2 would have look like ? Surely not a seven inch device! Caused the previous one was only 5"! So it most likely would have been 6" today. Anything bigger than seven inch, is an over kill! Don't you think 🤔?
They say it’s to small and have to quint but walk around with a 6 inch phone lol like 1.8 inches is that big of a difference. These guys are just some idiots, that’s all they can say to justify owning that pos of a handheld. Lenovo is trash
Sorry homie, I have both and my Ally X is my go to. I agree that the screen size is noticeable, but the battery life on the X is blowing everything away right now. If I have to choose between screen size or battery life, I'll take playing for longer.
I also have both, and it all depends on your use case - if you're buying a handheld to mostly play outside, during commute or flight - yep, Ally X, no competition. But if you're buying a handheld to chill on the bed or living room sofa? The Go blows the Ally out of the water with its big vibrant screen.
Picked up a used LeGo a couple weeks ago, its a great device, do like the build quality. Powerbank for those times you need some extra run time, its not so bad. Cant imagine trying to use windows on a smaller screen anyway, and workin out to about half the cost of new AllyX, not much to complain about really😀
worst decision had 3 legion go back and forth with ally and deck oled ...the go yes ddisplay is great but games looks ugly because of high resolution making gamws play at lower fps, and go is too heavy and battery and speakers is a disaster...now with ally x bTTERY IS UNBEATABLE after sometime youll regret it tho u have a defective unit non of ur issue is non existent
I’ve been a legion go user for almost 6 months and it has been my everyday use device. I have a ps5 and never had a pc. My experience with the legion go is a great pc experience. There’s games that I bought in ps5 that I decided to buy on my legion go and man the difference in playing in a tv and playing in your hands is almost night and day. Idk what it is but ever since this recent update the power saving mode has been able to run Fortnite at 40-50 fps while getting 2 and a half hours of play time. Might not be running at its absolute best but it is playable to where it’s almost like going from ps5 to ps4 to play Fortnite. Idk these are my personal experiences and I’d get behind the ally X but idk how I’d be able to adjust such a small screen. Remember these devices are good for you depending on what your everyday life looks like.
It's better than the ally x. I don't even notice the lack of vrr if you tweak the games just right. The speakers suck but you get used to them after a few months. It's better in every other way than the ally x minus battery life but I plug in most of the time.
That's what I'm saying! Vrr isn't as big of a noticeable feature as everyone is saying it is. And I've tweaked the speakers using software to make them sound a lot better so might make a vid about that too
Just sent back my legion go for a ally x trust the ally x is better then the legion go performance wise ppl say legion and ally x the same no i bought both played both ally x definitely beats the legion go it's just based off your preference and legion go has bigger screen but ally x Definitely has better performance I can sacrifice a screen for better performance any day I'll stay with my ally x thank you 🙏🤣
Exactly you have to do so much to get the Go to run at a decent fps because of the resolution they chose. How the hell did they think the Z1E chipset would be able to handle that resolution. And they say it’s equal but the Ally runs better at a higher resolution of 1080p because most of the time you’ll be playing at 800p on the GO. Was definitely the most frustrating handheld that I’ve owned.
Performance is the same. The ally x and legion are literally using the exact same z1 extreme. The only way you would get less performance on the go is if you try to play games on the higher resolution screen.2k vs 1080p in the ally x.
@@justswitched8841I have both and performance is not quite the same. What throws the Go off is the weird resolution and portrait orientation. Having to play everything at 800p, in a sense, negates the big screen cause you’re constantly playing at half the native resolution. You literally need lossless scaling for the go to reach its full potential.
How long did you have your ally x till the triggers start squeaking? I got my ally x at best buy and still got a couple of days to return it if I end up not liking it. The D pad when i press down does squeak and its kinda getting annoying Its brand new!
someone had to put rubber bands on the stem of joysticks of X cause the stick grinds. probably is a design flaw the problem on dpad might be a quality issue return it asap
@ItsOleg man since day 1? That sucks! Last day to decide tomorrow if I want to keep it or not. My exp is pretty good with the ally x the d pad squeaks doesn't bother me as much since it only squeaks when I press down unlike yours I would definitely return it if it was squeaking on L and R trigger day 1 😢 the battery life is the most thing that I love! But I do wish that the screen is the same as the Legion go I like the bigger screen.
@@aquinomaster the battery life is definitely it's biggest selling point. i would say if the squeaking doesn't bother you then it doesn't hurt to keep it
PRO tip. Do not use the speaker. Use bluetooth headset. ( It saves the battery of your console) So having a good speaker is stupid. Never a plus. Cuz no matter how good that shit is it's still shit.

I went from a Steam Deck to Legion Go and then to the OG Ally. OH.. How I miss that 8.8-inch Legion Go screen. You can do a lot of things to up your experience on the Ally, steam deck, and Legion Go. From installing windows on the steam deck or steamOS on both Ally and Legion Go with Bazzite. To extending your play time with a powerbank or even up the battery size with the Ally X or even a bigger battery mod for the OG ally. The only thing you can't do on the Ally and Steam Deck is giving us that 8.8-inch screen experience.
huh? can be used as tablet and fps mode🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️its the most versatile pc handheld on the market. ill do the same thing to ally x. whats the point of being windows handheld if you cant use it as tablet. you cant even remove controllers. doesnt make sense on ally x right? but on legion go it makes sense cause it was made to cater who likes versatility. if you like being small thats fine others like it big and versatile thats the point🤷♂️🤦
My ROG Ally just stopped working. The buttons, most importantly, the command center button is doing nothing. I have to send it in for repair. I just bought it in February. Other than the lack of dependability, I would find myself squinting too often while using it in Windows. Thanks for the info. Probably gonna check this out.
u probably turned off the armory crate se service in task management....did u mess with handheld companion? if so that would be the cause. its probably not hardware but try to reinstall armoury crate
@@str8poisintv131 I did a full reinstall of everything. It still didn't work. I was still under warranty so I sent it for service through Geek Squad. We will see what happens. Thanks for the suggestions though.
The leGO only has 16gb of shared ram so it will run into issues running certain games at 1080p. People always assume 16gb will be only in the long run but well its not
Yeah 16 gigs of shared ram just doesn’t cut it for most games. Being able to set the Ally X to 8 gigs of vram and leaving it there without having to switch between the options to find a sweet spot is a game changer.
I want a 42" handheld oled tv. kidding But i feel these things are a gen or so away from me wanting one. As is they seem to struggle with some essential things. Tech is always one step behind my desires hahah
Using SD, OG ALLY and Legion GO. they Only Handheld I am picking up these days when I am out is ROG Ally X. I just works anytime I want it unlike Legion GO that get stuck somewhere and have to reboot also when I put it into stand by mode I found to to be randomly drained the battery. Lenovo needs to support their hardware better.
I like the larger screen of the Legion Go, but it doesn't have VRR & makes the entire device much bigger. Also, the 1440p is useless as you're not going to be running any games at 1440p with that hardware. I'd rather they made it 1080p with VRR than 1440p. Also, the 8 more gigs of Ram & the longer lasting battery on the Ally X made me choose it over the Legion Go. I actually just ordered the Ally X & it was supposed to arrive today but it's late. I really like the detachable controllers of the Legion Go, and with the kickstand on the screen allowing you to set it up on a table. Also the FPS mode is really cool. If the Legion Go had those 8 more Gigs of RAM & went with VRR over 1440p, I absolutely would have chosen the Legion Go even with the shorter battery life.
VRR is an overrated feature. If you need it - you're not supplying enough juice, or not optimizing the graphics fidelity. It isn't sustainable, you can't just rely on VRR when the FPS fluctuates wildly, you'll definitely feel it, with or without VRR. At best it might prevent the occasional sub-second "hiccup", which you wouldn't get anyway if you optimized the game to fit your hardware
@@ItsOlegim gonna go to best buy and test out all 3. Ill use the 14 day policy return. Ally, legion go and ally x. Ive had the legion go 8 months ago and ally year ago but i didnt like them much
Yeah, I liked the larger screen size of the Legion Go myself, but it was just sacrificing too much for that one tiny benefit. Also the 1440p & 144hz screen makes no sense given that the hardware can't even run games at that resolution & frame rate. If Lenovo had gone with a 1080p, 120hz screen with VRR & 8 more gigs of Ram, I would have chosen it even with the shorter battery life.
Battery life is worse yes but I haven't had a need to game portably for longer than an hour anyways so I was fine with the trade off. The vrr and less ram isn't really noticeable for me either as most games don't take advantage of the higher ram so you end up getting similar fps anyways.
@@ItsOlegmost games don't, but some do and recent and upcoming UE5 and other engine games will require more VRAM, with 16GB it's going to be a constant battle and even lead to massive stutters like in Avatar for example. I could see stuttering in Legion Go on many games due to lack of VRR, I suppose some people aren't as susceptible.
Love my ally x. Screen size is great and it’s good for travel. I bought a 16 inch screen to dock with if I’m around the house and want a larger screen so
I return the rog ally X and keep lenovo Go too because i like the legion go more because is like a tablet and a nintendo switch plus the battery can be upgrade with a power bank and the weight would be the same as the rog ally x
I did the opposite, had to Go pretty much since launch when the Ally x came out and I felt the only thing the Go had over the Ally x was the screen and that's it literally everything else I'd better on the Ally x. Mine hasn't arrived yet so I'm just going on stats so yet to see if that indeed is the case.
Oof. Heavy downgrade. Laughable battery life, worse performance, less ram, worse screen, worse ergonomics & weight etc the list goes on 1600P 16:10 screen = worse image quality because you can't play at native res on 99% of games & playing at lower res will look terriblely soft. Not to mention 16:10 isnt support for half the games out there, leaving you w/ black bars. Thats before we even get to VRR.
Personally on mine performance has been the same. While it's true the battery life isn't as good as the ally x, it's sufficient for the hour that I usually have otherwise I'll plug it in most of the time. Would definitely disagree on the screen tho, legion beats the ally every day of the week in that department. I've also had no issues playing with the 16:10 aspect ratio, and lack of vrr is negligible.
@bls0502 mind my own business? Lol this is social media. I responded to a video. Is that not allowed? Are your feelings hurt? I have owned both devices. I love the screen size of the Legion but I love the better performance on the ally. Lol mind my own business. That's no different than telling the creator who published the video to mind his own business. Wow. You kids have tiny feelings these days.
