Hey guys! On today's video, I decided to take a deeper dive into my coding background and when I stopped learning to code. I started at university and then went into a non coding job, it's been a journey! I hope you enjoy this video and as always please let me know what you want to see :)
A little bit about me: I am currently an Azure Specialist at Microsoft, I live in London and I make content to help people pursue a career in tech!

This is probably off topic, I have been reading and many youtubers are also saying that UX/UI is a dying field and its going to be difficult for the people who start their career in it now. Just wanted to know what do you have to say about this because I was thinking of diving into UX/UI after three years of Non-profit experience. Thank you for your videos, Hosanna.

This is so relevant. I just came to the realization that after more than 1.5 years, of trying my best with programming (after having done my bachelors in finance) it just wasn't for me. Thanks you for sharing your experience. It really does make a difference. Now I'm just trying to look at other roles in Tech which don't involve coding. Also, do you know how to go about trying to get into other paths in Tech (that don't involve coding)? Once again, many thanks for making me feel like I'm not alone in this. 🙇‍♀️. Do you think is better to get a referral in Microsoft in order to be call to an interview?

There's one particular job at Microsoft in Dublin that I want to apply, but I don't know if it's better with a referral. What do you suggest?

I’ve heard it is easier, I can’t 100% confirm as I’m not a recruiter but I only ever apply for roles with a referral! I know people who got in without one though😊 it’s better to focus on having a very good cv that’s going to get pickup up and seen by the recruiter

@@thetechcornr9187 I'm taking it slow because I don't have a degree. I am a hairdresser and I want to move into tech. Which is why I'm making sure all my projects and my portfolio show cases my understanding of the process. I do want to study a degree while I am working in tech.

I'm Frustrated and tired to be honest....I just want to work in tech as at now but I don't feel like I want to code anymore because it's demanding sheshhh!💔

I'm just under 2 months in! I have two learning disabilities so it's been tough, but all the frustration and mini meltdowns I have always comes with way more rewarding satisfaction and relied that make it absolutely worth it! I've learned C, Python and now I'm doing SQLite all while balancing a full time job, but it's great! Since my job is so mundane and I can do it with my eyes closed, coding has really been helping me scratch an itch to do more! I really hope that as I continue on this journey, I can make programs to make things more accessible to other with disabilities, too!

there is no reason not to learn to code, therefor do it. you dont have to do it to get a job. not knowing how to code is like blindness.

I agree that learning to code is a great skill to have, that's why I learned at university. However, it is a long term commitment which some people have no interest in - there are other roles which don't require deep programming knowledge but the basics are always good to know
