With sim racing hardware it's knowing when to stop and setting a budget along with lots of research, it can be addictive and expensive just like modding a real car. My advice jump in with the cheapest setup to get you racing then if you enjoy it and want to jump in deeper then go all in ie save up then get any direct drive wheel, some really good pedals and an 80/20 rig. You will save money in the long run with unnecessary upgrade steps

My g29 accel pedal just started acting weird. And I’m thinking about going with the fanatec pedals tbh
@bjornna7767
@bjornna7767 2 года назад
@@kalebjusino3561 Tear it down and clean everything, sometimes it's dust. If this doesn't work, you can only restrict the pedal via software, e.g. you could increase the deadzone at the beginning, if your accel pedal accelerates w/o you pushing it, or at the end, if you can't reach full throttle. If this all doesn't help, you can only buy a new accel pedal for around 30 bucks and substitute it. I bought myself a cheap used complete pedal w/o issues so that I have all 3 pedals in stock. I paid 40 bucks for it, was a deal, though.

@Jenson Ristevski Yes, coz, whatever you buy, cheapo or pro-stuff, you will first be overwhelmed by the wheel and pedals, you will be much worse than with gamepad at the beginning. Just keep it up w/o too high expectations, there's a steep learning curve, however, once you reached a certain point (~ after 6 months of more or less regular practice), you will be cool with the setup and you will see the limitations of cheapo stuff. I do sim racing for 1.5 years now and would definitely get a direct drive wheel, yet, I can't afford it. If I had begun with such pro stuff, I would have been quite depressed at the beginning, coz you really suck your first time behind wheels.

I think a lot of us sim race around our available space. For me I use a Next Level Racing GTLite. When I am not using it, it sits on the side of my desk. When it is time to race, I first set it up in front of my desk and attach the Buttkicker 2. Since the desk it too high, I attack a monitor stand on the front of the desk and then move the 32" monitor from the desk to the stand. I am currently using a T300 wheel and pedal set but will soon be upgrading to a Fanatec CSL DD and Clubsport Pedal set. The whole process takes me about 20 minutes. I also use head tracking, but that part is easy. I also use a really nice h pattern all metal gear shift I got from alliexpress. That thing is amazing quality and costs far less compared to some of the offerings from well known companies. I enjoy sim racing because I am legally blind and can not drive a real vehicle, so this is the next best thing.

What would you recommend the thrustmaster t300 or logitech g923 thanks.
@markp2085
@markp2085 2 года назад
@@kennyk4134 I guess the biggest reason is price to performance. Any wheel set below a t300 or g923 or g29 is more of a toy for little children. These wheel sets, although considered a toy, are powerful enough to be enjoyed by adults and don't cost an arm and a leg compared to a DD such as the DD1. You can feel some road textures, kerbs, etc, and you get some general feedback, and they are just all around fun. Since they are not a direct drive, there is a very slight delay in response, but you soon learn to compensate and don't even notice. But compared to a DD, the feedback is nothing. Once you use a DD, you realize all the feedback you have been missing, the instantaneous response, and how real the wheel feels compared to an actual vehicle. For me, I am an occasional simmer. I usually set up my rig 4-6 times a month for a few hours. I really could not justify to myself to purchase a DD that costs $1000+ for just the base, then you have to factor in the wheel and pedal set. But now that the CSL DD has come out for under $500 (for the base), I think I am willing to spend that amount on my occasional hobby. Plus I am going to use the government money I received last year for the pandemic to pay for it. The rest of the money went to life stuff, but I saved a bit for a wheel base.

@@kennyk4134 T300 is a great wheel without braking your bank account. I had it and loved it. After the T300 i upgraded to the T-GT and now waiting for a Ps5 DD wheel. I would also recommend the T-LCM pedals if you want to use a Thrustmaster pedal.

My advice is to keep it simple. I used to play grand turismo religiously on my g27. Then I upgraded many times and now I have a full motion rig with a valve index that ran me close to 20k. Don’t get me wrong it’s a ton of fun but everytime I turn in on something doesn’t feel right and needs tweaking. I play maybe 20% as much as I used to when I owned the g27. Keeping it simple has some huge pros, the grass is always not greener even if it appears to be so.

Not a bad approach.... but beware upgrading costs money too! I went from ds4 to csl elite with load cell in 3 months.... then to gt dd pro with load cell 10 months later... and from $100 gt lite foldable rig to $300 ART rig.... each step was a huge improvement in equipment and immersion..... but also a bigger dent on the wallet too.... Don't regret my road or the extra parts... I kept the second rig on purpose to play with others and for the 2 grandkids to race each other too! Just know what you are getting into..... 👍

For me personally iRacing is the perfect replacement for a competitive environment. I used to play soccer fo 8 years and i had to quit because of physical reasons. Iracing is the first thing I've found that gives me the same sensation equal to the one i used to feel during a match. If you're like me i cant recommend it enough. It is more of a sport though than just a game. Then again you can play some casual racing games I'm just talking about iracing.

Warning! Within 4 months of light use my FANATEC McLaren wheel cracked at the shifter pivot point and where it mounted to the QR. I was accused of over tightening although I used a torque wrench set at 3nm. FANATEC then replaced the wheel chassis admitting in writing it was a weakness in the wheel. Very soon after my CSL load cell pedal failed. I sent a video before sending the pedal set back as requested. I was required to make a follow up email after not hearing back. FANATEC said they can not fault the pedals asking if I want then sent back which I found a strange thing to ask? Eventually they were returned however within minutes I experienced the same issue which was consistent with magnetic interference from the CSL DD wheel base before the load cell pedal would completely shut down. I was beyond my limits at this point and driven to warn as many potential customers as I could while demanding a replacement. Following the usual delayed response, FANATEC then offered a replacement only if a show proof that they faulty load cell was again on its way back to them. FANATEC’s poor response time drove me to desperation. Keep in mind I have owned this new product for around 6 months when 2 major failures occurred. An electric technician overheard my experience and offered assistance. I was able to demonstrate the issue and within minutes the technician diagnosed a defective voltage regulator attached to the load cell circuit board. The voltage regulator is designed to reduce 5 volts coming from the wheel base or USB down to the required 3.3volts. There was no signal out of the regulator which he replaced. No thanks to FANATEC I am now enjoying my sim racing again while I hold my breath for the next FANATEC failure. Please take my advise and look at the FANATEC’s own forum in regards to all the issues they have and their terrible customer service.

So I have always been into racing from pole position to ACC and iRacing. I decided to finally get what I always wanted a serious racing rig. Ordered the P1X and SC2 and HEUSINKVELD Sprints. Hoping to get motion next year so a sturdy rig was a must. Anyways hope to maybe race together someday. I appreciated the video I"m rather new into sim racing and I appreciate your videos and I really like how you expressed the cost of certain rigs and equipment can be pretty unreasonable. To begin with you're really going to want to have either a PC or a high powered gaming laptop before the cost of the wheel/pedals/shifter/stand. Logitech Wheel/Pedals/Shifter is roughly $290 stand is roughly $100 ebrake is roughly $100 Sim racing can be incredibly rewarding but you really have to be realistic with your expectations and not just blow thousands of dollars on the best of the best equipment before you figure out how interested in it you really are. I watched a video just today of a sim racing youtuber who never even got the Thrustmaster shifter due to him not being able to justify his purchase until he was sent one by Thrustmaster. It's also important to get only what you care about, my buddy has several servers in beam ng but just runs an old wheel with no manual transmission shifter and he is perfectly satisfied doing that while I don't get the full experience without the shifter. I carry my entire sim rim into the backseats of my car so I can end up playing with my buddy irl which not everyone would be cool with.

Having a full racing cockpit is definitely the way to go with the gear you have. Ideally it would help if you had room though. Without the space it really isn’t worth spending money on gear like that if your mounting to a desk. Space is definitely the first starting point if you want the realistic feel your looking for. If you don’t have the room and moving everything around is a chore it becomes difficult to get immersed.

I find it brutal being here in Canada... I'd love to just grab a t300 but they're even more than the new t248 lol. Also mostly outta stock or crazily overpriced from a 3rd party seller. Id love to hop into the csl dd and just get their cheapest hub and a 1lb NRG deep dish for drifting but the prices and shipping costs with customs also being a total surprise and upwards of 100$ when it happens... I've turned away from fanatec in general... until they decide to sell straight out of Canada at least. I honestly just wish logitech would use a dual belt like the t300 and I'd be happy honestly.... I really don't mind the pedals after the brake rubber is worn down a little and with the spring mod they feel totally fine to me. I set it up so 0-rubber is about 40% brake so I get 60% all based on pressure on the pedal.

Yeah iam struggling to get some sort of sponsor, I made mistakes by listening to people telling me to start sim racing by the cheap and console, I'm gutted I done that coz at that time I had the money for high end PC, And now I have not, I am pretty good at the Nordsliefe now, An I'm getting faster a lot faster, Now tho with me buying a cheap ADX rig, Now the steering stem wobbles and I can't go on Asseto Corsa Competizione purely coz I'm scared my rig will just break from the force feedback, I tried reaching out to sim racing companies asking for help with a rig for a RU-vid channel, I only just set it up as I wanted to put the practice in first before I put videos up on RU-vid and now I'm there, I am actually pretty fast, But still get knocked back not even discount, I will do what ever the sim racing company wants, People are watching all my videos so I don't understand why like next level can't drop me discount for putting my equipment etc in the description, Still tho I will get what I needs soon enough and I will be making a short little video explaining all my mistake by listening to other people, Just go with your gut, Do what your gut tells you, Not what other people tells you, I don't even know what a DD wheel is like, Or load cell pedals, I will have the deposit in next 2 to 3 weeks for a PC, Coz sim racing helps me deal with the CPTSD I suffer with, When I get a bad day I can sim Race an put bad things aside, Again I will be doing a video of how sim racing is helping me deal with the triggers that cause the symptoms of PTSD, I can't wait to get on iracing, But yeah it's so hard to get a sponsorship of some sort, So yeah it's damn hard to get into the professional side of sim racing, Even when you is fast, Lol, Fingers crossed tho when I got my own equipment upgrades, I will be putting up some better vids, I would be on iracing all day if I had it, Yeah again sim racing is an expensive hobby that's for sure.....

@13guns87
@13guns87 2 года назад
Use a controller, best tip anyone will give you. Move on to gear when you're not a newbie. People fail cos they jump up too many levels. Gear is next level. Learn the basics first. When you're comfortable with your skills. Buy best kit you can which for ps5 is fanatec DD range. Don't buy into the upgrade non sense. By that time you're a fully pledged SIM racer. If 2 weeks into it, you're like this is for me. Keep at it with controller but start buying gear. By the time you're ready for next level. You've got the kit waiting. Buy the direct drive last, so you're not tempted to skip a phase. My advice would be to you. Think about if you really want to be a sin racer or someone on a ps5. Pc is the way to go for Sims, it doesn't need a beefy Gpu either. A lot more kit available for the bigger wallet. Serious kit. Serious price too lol.

You have a very good setup now that most would dream about, let alone trying to buy a GFX card enough to drive it on a nice Ultrawide.
