Why I switched from La Sportiva to Scarpa boots 

Ya I flipped those around at the start, sorry for the confusion!

I love Scarpas too and have been wearing them for decades but unfortunately they don’t come in my size (50 EU) but La Sportiva snd Millet have some models available. It is a shame.

Spantik is good for big legs

I've never tired those out, but mostly because I've never been in a store that has them. They must be more popular across the pond, if I got my hands on them I would try them out for sure!

I see it as if I’m able to pull out the boots for specific climbs where the downfalls of the boots doesn’t effect my comfort. For example the boots only truly get my feet wetted out early season when the snow is still working its way to spring corn or solid summer snow. During the hight of summer I can wear the La Sportiva boots and my feet don’t get nearly as wet. Also, since the weather is so warm I can get away with a boot that doesn’t keep my feet as warm. I also only use the boots on the climbs when I don’t need any performance out of them, like a standard route up a volcano. Since you’re never really doing any real climbing and just walking up I can save the wear on the newer good boots for actual climbing. My main footwear is going to be my new Scarpa boots so I’ll be in those like 90% of the time, but every now and again I’ll be able to get away with the older boots. Another example is I’m going to be teaching a 5 day intro to mountaineering course on Shasta in July, and since there’s no actual climbing and it’s the hight of summer I’m planning to wear my Sportiva G5’s

Ya, the Zodiac techs are the lightest weight boots I showed and they're three quarter shank, the other boots were the Rebelle tech and they are warmer but still three quarter shank.
