This is one of the Casey vlogs that you'll really feel the emotions and passion within. One of the reasons why his vlogs are so unique and worth-watching. Not to mention the background music he uses in each of them. Simply awesome.
I saw the Eclipse in person, and it was nothing like what the still shot showed. The sun gleamed around the moon, and there wasn't a clear sphere. It was more like the sun glare bent around the moon, and in actual images the moon looks sorta like a rocky, uneven, more circular potato. If you ever see drawings of people who actually saw eclipses, they're probably more accurate than any actual photo
I don't understand why there's so much hate on this video!! Overhyped, this is stupid, he's rich, blah blah blah....you know what I wanted to comment after I saw this video? - SPECTACULAR! The way he has shot this is absolutely stunning and made me feel the brilliance of this eclipse all the way in INDIA through a phone screen! So instead of wasting my energy on negativity, I'd like to THANK CASEY FOR THIS VISUALLY STUNNING VLOG.👍🏼❤️
Hey! You seem really cool, and I think we think a lot alike. I'm uploading my solar eclipse video tomorrow, and I REALLY think you'll like it! Hope to talk to you sometime! I subscribed, your channel seems really cool! :) Peace, TA
Didn't expect someone to comment this, definitely didn't expect it in the top comments. Glad someone is speaking about the real importance of this video. Casey is really doing a wonderful thing for humanity with his videos. I watched so many broadcasts of the eclipse live on television and they all felt as emotive of the experience as broadcasts from the 1950s... You'd think all the technology these media outlets have would allow them to do it some justice but at the end of the day money can't buy the gift Casey has. Between something as simple as this solar eclipse to some thing as historically significant as his documentation of 9/11 his work is truly something to be treasured. I'm sure time will only tell that this is true.
Word. I never reply to a reply but. Brilliant video of someone capable of being excited. And he covered it better than anyone else. And look at his dumb small rental. Nobody more genuine than Casey.
I've seen a great many of your videos Casey and that was truly EPIC!!! The way you covered the event was pure magic. Your child-like excitement was completely contagious. We never got to see the eclipse here in Tokyo because it was night out here. I already saw your NEVER TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER video where you explained how you did it. Yep, I was out of sequence, but I'm glad I saw the episodes in reverse. Made enjoying your filmmaking process all the more enjoyable. Cheers Jason, an Aussie living & working in Tokyo.
Thank you Taber Apollo. And yes, I also make videos. All of the videos on this channel are done by me. Filmed, edited, interviewing, everything. Cheers!
Honestly man, this was such a nice video. You could just see the excitement! And also John Lennon's music at the end. Secures a spot in the Top 5 Casey video's!.
YuriFineart pretty sad that only my dad went from my family from finland to watch it Would have been my third total eclipse I have watched them in turkey and australia
This might be my favourite vlog of yours ever Casey, the wondrous sight of the sun forming that divine halo behind the moon honestly gave me such a profound sense of awe and wonder like once again being a kid. Thanks for taking us along for the journey and sharing it with us in your unique style.
This video is just incredible there's high quality footage ,simply but amazingly edited, there's a storyline, an obstacle to overcome , enthusiasm from casey and eventually an overwhelming ending all in an eight minute video .great job man!
@CaseyNeistat the video quality and the presentation of this episode was better then any news channel. I was actually hoping that you shoot and make video about this. This has been awesome. Thanks.
Such a funny and weird and awesome event. Makes you realize and appreciate that the sun is there in a way, which a lot of us often forget and take for granted for most of their lives. I'm glad you captured it Casey, it's fun seeing it through your perspective from out here in Europe :)
Sven Vee We are lucky to have the sun. We are lucky to be in the right position, in the habitable zone, with jupiter and the perfectly shaped and sized moon by our side. Our atmosphere and the forces. I must stop before i start getting scientific and technical
You're right, look at all the Kids in africa who dont have a sun, they are living in poverty because of it. we americans should build a second sun for them imo. I really think I should be thankful, that I'm not dead right now. Because I can promise you I would cry all the time if I knew that I was dead, like srsly my life would be sad af If I would be dead.
Casey said himself that his best Vlog in his opinion is when he rescued the drone from the rooftop. The reason why, was because the vlog consisted of three parts to tell the story. This video is very much like that Vlog. So you're right, this is one of the greater vlogs
Premiere Pro for Beginners April 8, 2024 is the next American eclipse. Goes right through central Texas. Only 3 hours from my house. Gonna go to Enchanted Rock in the Texas hill country to see it.
Putting the eclipse sunglasses on the camera lens was awesome, Something that I never expected Casey to do. Awesome vlog....So inspiring...Thank you Casey!!!
Ok this was one of your best videos to date. The story, the people, the music, the timelapses all perfect. Your energy and the energy of everyone else there was palpable through the computer screen. I was in LA and only got a 60% eclipse. People just looked up at the sky for 10 seconds and were like ....eh... cool.... back to work. I'm definitely traveling to a place with totality for the next eclipse to be around other people crazy enough to do the same. MAGIC!
It's been a while since I have watched a Casey vlog. It's so refreshing compared to a Paul brother vlog. No screaming at the camera, no sound effects, no fast cuts just simple shots that capture true emotion. Never change Casey. EDIT: 1k! I made it mom ❤️ while I have the opportunity I may as well plug my channel 😂 If you're nice enough to sub that would truly be amazing but if not, that's also fine. Have a nice day either way everyone ✌️
Trey Hornick yeah sorry, I used the wrong terminology! What I mean is the quick scene transitions they use followed by a swoosh sound effect that make it feel really fast paced
I was in Columbia SC too, But I only live 62 miles away and we would have had 99% coverage . My brother said that the 1% makes a big difference about 10,000 times brighter so we made the road trip. With thousands of people spread out over the park we were in. And WOW ,AMAZING, I think everyone there had the same reaction cheering everywhere and OMG'S , ETC. What a experience for 2minutes 41 Seconds .
I live in Columbia! I was out on Lake Murray. The eclipse was spectacular, but my favorite part was being with my family and my girlfriend and just taking it all in. It was so much fun. If I was by myself it still would have been great but the people made it so much better.
Incredible footage Casey! We were lucky enough to move to Greenville, SC a few months ago. We were in the line of totality too and it was the most amazing thing I've ever witnessed. Definitely not overhyped.
Anyone who was actually in the path of totality knows this was not overhyped. Everyone else thinks it was overhyped because they didn't actually see totality. Cameras can't truly capture it.
OH MY GOD this video is like high art, you're like a superhero with the lens man......new favorite casey vid shiiiiit-- I feel like I didn't even miss the eclipse now.
How about he recorded some shots before and did not think about all details. I am almost 100% sure that rain part is recorded days before for the story purpose and success of the protagonist.
Another outstanding video Casey. I held a mini Solar party at my work for the eclipse. I brought in two pairs of Solar binoculars and it was definitely worth the effort. Thanks for taking us on your adventure! Scott
Why chase storms when you can chase a total eclipse! I knew Casey would pull together a video for it, hats off to him for always embracing events that don't often occur and taking every life experience by the horns.
I love how Dean just randomly shows up in an open field somewhere in South Carolina :-D Thank you for making this video, Casey! It felt like I was there!
S/V Alliance he said that "he knows of"...... of course other people may have done it too... he was just giving a nice compliment..... why does that bother you so much to leave such a negative response?
The Disableist I was about to say the same thing. I was not prepared for the real thing. This video was very good, however nothing no videos, words, or pictures can portray all of the different inputs that came with the eclipse.
Timothy Paskal I was in the path of totality, and I had low expectation. But it really was mind blowing to see. My cat even freaked out. It was awesome.
"So friendly down here" LOL same thing I said! Haha as a New Yorker I can relate...everyone in NYC (mostly everyone) you encounter are so rude. People outside of NYC are super nice.
Man watching this in person was a feeling I just can't describe the whole place just went quite, all life stood still then the light came back and with the life of the world. Man I'm getting emotional thinking about it 4 years later
Everyone that says its over hyped needs to read this: The sun is 400 times bigger than the moon. The moon is 390 times closer to the earth than the sun. The moon moves a tiny bit further from the earth every time it orbits us. This wasn't just some eclipse, it was a perfect eclipse. The smallest sliver of the sun, next time in 2024 it won't be as cool. It will literally never be the same and we are the only ones in the universe to ever see that. Not over hyped.
xoPanchitaxo he's exaggerating. The moon only moves an inch or two away from us every year. Scientists estimate people in about a billion years won't be able to see total solar eclipse anymore. We have a while until then. 2024 will be the same thing
Crimson Football - The relatively infinitesimally small increase in the moons orbit is not why the relative sizes are different during different eclipses. The moons orbit is not perfectly round, it's oblong, just as all orbits are. The distance, and thus the apparent size, depends on where it is in its orbit. It was further away during this eclipse, hence the short duration of totality. 2024 will have longer totality because the moon will be at a closer point in its orbit and totality will be almost twice as long.
Casey, get your ass to the 2024 eclipse with a FULL spread of equipment. That'll be the longest totality eclipse for the next 3000 years. Look for Bailey's beads, the diamond ring, and shadow bands
Everyone who was waiting for the eclipse all smiled and cheered with joy and we all viewed it as one race. You realize that we're all on the same planet, a united moment. And if I could, I would've traveled much father to witness the eclipse. No luck this year, will be old enough to travel in 2024 so I'll be sure to catch it wherever it'll be next.
Let me say that this made me emotional.... literally got misty eyed watching the total eclipse. I was unfortunately traveling for work on that day and was in Miami and only got to see a partial eclipse my family up in Utah Idaho and Washington got to see full… And I was sad to miss it. Casey thank you so much for doing this it was as if I was there with you what amazing story and adventure.
Thanks for sharing. I have watched many of your vlogs, this is by far my favorite. You don't realize how small you are in the universe until you experience an event as spectacular as this.
this video just made me realize that casey is the only person i know that’s actually living life to the fullest, never missing out on an adventure and not caring what other people think of him. i admire that and i hope i can grow up to have that view on life too :)
Thank you Casey for capturing this unique moment. Some of us missed out when the forecast didn't mention anything about a cloudy day until the last moment. Again, thank you. 👍
I haven't watched Casey in a while because I've noticed a slight dip in quality (the luxury first class reviews are not really my thing), but this video was really great. It was classic Casey Neistat, complete with a suspenseful story (the whole "will he make it on time?" thing) and a nostalgic feel.
I live close to where this was filmed at it was more beautiful than I thought. Another eclipse is in about 7ish years, but taking a different path. From Mexico to Maine. I hope to travel to see it. Google it and see if u can travel to it. U will not be disappointed.
Buzzing Around with the Busbys THE SOUTH IS AWESOME!! I've lived in the North my whole life, and every single person I've ever met in the South is genuine, real, and kind. I always feel at home there.
