Hi J, For your next upgrade. Please order LMR 240 coax (if you are running a single antenna) It is basically RG8X on steroids. The differences are 20 year military grade/ spec outer jacket, 95%+ Copper braid, over a 100% foil shield over the insulator, Quality hi velocity pure copper center conductor. It puts that grey stuff to shame. You won't find lower loss higher quality mobile coax on the planet. You can find LMR240 on line. You won't usually find LMR240 at the CB shops or truck stops.
Hi J, No issues. RG8X, if it is good quality, is usually a great improvement over RG58U or RG58AU (stranded center). RG8X is also referred to as mini Base Station Coax. RG240 is like RG8X on Steroids, it is a blessing for Tractor Trailer drivers. With all the static and other noise generated by the larger tires, the truck alternator, and picked up by all the extra miles of wiring a big truck and trailer has ETC..., on receive, your radio will be much quieter due to the double shield, specifically with the 100% foil shield under the braid and there is obviously less loss on Transmit with the double shielding. It is not necessary, but if you are running a big radio, it is a wonderful upgrade. Just saying. I am an old guy, I have been on CB since the late 1960's. I only mentioned it because from your videos it looks like your system is Big Time 10-8. I am retired now and I frequently run TN to FL to see the kids and grandkids. I am currently running a Sirio turbo 5000 thru the roof of my crew cab PU and a RCI2970N4. BTW, I like your videos.

I run a peterbilt 579 with factory coax. I got dual Wilson 2000 antennas on it and a galaxy 979F. I talk about 8-10 miles! Maybe I got lucky and got a good coax installed on my rig idk. 1.4 swr
antennapartsoutlet.com They are super flexible. I suggest getting a 3' piece of cpvc pipe and put it over the base to keep the antenna from failing in a year or two.If you are using it for a mobile application.
Question? The coax end mounting to the antenna. The coax fitting has those 2 niples on them and the antenna side doesn't so it doesn't fit flush. Do you leave them on or grind them off? Thanks
You can grind them if you want for a better connection.. some connectors have little teeth all the way around that those 2 teeth will lock into to make a better connection.
