I do not use safes at all, I have 3 kids , showed them all about guns and what happens when you pull the trigger. They are now scared of guns enough to stay away. I also let them know if you wanna look at it, we’ll do it together. I keep my firearm count low because I have kids. So only gotta hide a few and I literally carry 24/7 pocket carry. I realize my method ain’t for everyone and it may change as they grow, but I doubt it. I treat my kids great, we all respect firearms and know them as tools. Great videos btw keep ‘em coming!!

I grew up with shotguns standing in the corners and we knew better than bother it. My kids knew I had guns. Like you said you have to teach them not just say don't touch it.

Ur kids are 100% going to find those guns and play with them with thier friends when ur not home. I watched my friend accidentally shoot my friend with a 22 one day because we were all bored and thought it was unloaded. He survived but we all got arrested at school the next day. We were like 12. Also we use to throw shotgun shells and 9mil rounds in the fire in the alley. Ur being ignorant and its gonna end sadly. Please do better and dont be so cocky that ur kids arent gonna act like kids because “u taught them better”

Kids having direct access to guns.....What could possibly go wrong? 🤷‍♂️

The issue is not the biometric reader. The issue is that it depends on a motor or solenoid to release the catch that holds the lid closed. The key just moves bar to the control board to trigger the same electronic release. A good safe will have the electronics act like a key to release a mechanical knob, lever, or other mechanism that you then move to move the actual locking bolts or release catch. Then the physical key and mechanism will always work even when the electronics don't.

That is EXACTLY why I won’t use electronic safes! Who knows if a hacker could hack into it before home invasion or the government could do the same… Key locks ONLY for me & back up guns outside of safes incase even it fails… 👍🏻

Ive never thought a bedside safe was actually safe. If someone breaks in while youre sleeping you'll be lucky to shoot if youre gun is locked & loaded next to your head. No way to open the safe and be ready in time.

The only problem is I have kids. And they are too young to understand. That’s why my house has a security system, we have a watch dog, ring doorbells, surveillance around the property and alarms and glass breakers on all the windows. I have plenty of time to get to all of my stuff and with all of those safety precautions

@@spnfirearms whatever works best for you. I'm not trying change anyone safety habits. I live in the country and all kids are raised around guns and it's not an issue. My state just passed a law for students to carry on campus, some ppl think that's bad idea. I say our kids know how to fight back. Really enjoy your channel, great work👍👍

I believe your condemnation is misplaced. The problem isn't the biometric part of that safe but that is simply a crappy safe. ANY safe, biometric or otherwise that can be opened with a screwdriver is crap. Perhaps the biometrics on THAT safe failed you but so did the mechanics. I do agree with your conclusion to buy a GOOD safe. I just think there are good biometric safes. Love your videos though.

I spent some time around a guy who was a thief. That time around him, I learned quite a bit about locks. (Heh.) The one, absolute lesson that has to be passed on, is that anything with a lock- Will *only* stop somebody who doesn't *really* want to get past that lock. I'll also add that most of these lockbox type "safes"? Yeah, they're not hard that difficult to get into, if you want to brute force them. If you're going to leave something behind a lock, Don't leave it out in plain sight.

The all-round failure of that safe is discomforting. I have a Hornady key-only and the lock started sticking on that. I have. I have a Life Pod by the bed that so far has been reliable. I also use it in my vehicle along with the cable. I picked a relatively inexpensive Snapsafe with combo/TSA locks tethered to the frame of my primary suitcase for air travel. Not that any of those are the last ones I will invest in. I do like the Life Pod over all of them but again, but don’t know how the key lock is tied to the electronic combo. Thanks for this video.

Lock on bedroom door is underestimated. Not always possible but can work at night.

I have one, and I like it. I typically don’t use the fingerprint scanner when I need my firearm in a hurry, because they can be finicky depending on angle of your finger. I can input the 4 digit code instantly and it has always worked for me. My particular one still manually unlocks with the key even if the electronic function fails. I have the key hidden in our room nearby. I also put new batteries in the unit every 2 months. I know some people are concerned about it, but I think it strikes a good balance between keeping my kids away from stuff and still allowing pretty instantaneous access.

My maxsafe is pretty good. I can unlock with key even if batteries are dead. And it lets you know when batteries are getting low.

You wouldn't want to use biometric safes let alone a liberty safe, they will give your info to the 3 letter agencies.

If you've got kids, and you have even a small concern about them getting into things like this... that they shouldn't be getting into. (Ok parents, I'ma telling you this right now.... your biggest mistake is having 100% trust in your kids. Remember... what kind of stuff did WE get into when we were kids? Hopefully You got into less than *I* did, LOL) There are sensors that you can get real cheap. They're basically just two sensors that touch together when a door or window is closed. They activate when they are moved apart. Now, what is cool about *some of them* is that they can be set up to *send out a text message* if they go off. A couple of these, along with some high strength epoxy to put them in place inside the gun box, and you will know when your kids are up to something they shouldn't be.

I wish I could remember the name of the one a family member bought me for meds. I ended up having to break into it too and it was ridiculously easy. For a while I just used to lock it and open it with a pick, because it was the only way to open it without damaging it. It eventually wore out that button pretty fast too, so I ended up prying it open and trashed it. There was that major recall with the one, because people (who followed the directions) were leaving their safes unknowingly in a position where it would open up for ANYONE who put their finger up to the sensor. (No BS. The safes were permanently going into a state where the finger print sensor would open up for any person with any finger print).

I refuse to use electronics safes! Mechanical safes yes, if you desire one. However, I have no children around. So my pistols are accessable to me quickly. People stress, "You have to have a safe to secure your guns from thieves"! Well, I have a unpopular response, "If jerks get through my locked doors of our home, they broke into my safe"! Before, someone gets their undies in an uproar, remember if you're vandalized, YOU'RE the victim, NOT the criminal. Yes, my guns are locked-up. But, my opinion on the topic isn't! I will stress GUN SAFETY involving CHILDREN! They are precious and can't be replaced, guns can be replaced! Best to ya',,,,!

Thanks for this gun safe PSA! We would think it would be secure for what it's designed for. If not, we must know immediately! Our responsibility to keep those tools safe and secure! Can you list the best options regarding safes, portable and larger we can look for??? Please... Thanks again for all you do for us out here! Your channel is a MUST see for us "Gun Owners" out here! EDC is important but safety and responsibility is even more important... Thanks again and God Bless! ❤

I don't have children at home anymore, not much need for a safe in my house.🤷‍♂️ Not worried about theft, I live in rural Missouri and crime is not bad. Not to mention, I have insurance and my deductible is less than the cost of a safe. But not all are in my particular situation, and I would hate to see anyone hurt or killed because of this product.
