Immortals have ruined the Diamond Dynasty experience on MLB The Show 18 this year. This is my second video talking about the issues with MLB The Show 18 this year and will be releasing videos like this on a weekly basis. To complete the player collection programs players spend approximately 2 Million Stubs on players and get Roughly 40,000 Stubs & 39 Player Items. To complete the team epics players spend approximately 3.5 million Stubs to get 120 player items of all rarities except common + 52,500 Stubs in return. To complete a POTM Program, Players would spend approximately spend 500k Stubs to get 2 POTM cards & 3000 Stubs. The monthly timed programs that you don’t have to buy anything for will give you only 4 packs and roughly 8k Stubs roughly.

I think the title was an understatement,I’ve been trying to get the chipper jones immortal since day 1,keep in mind I’m 14 so I don’t really ever buy stubs,I stopped going for the immortals after I realized that there’s no way I can get an immortal with all the souvenirs and players exchange missions.

You're the man, Mark It was all a stub grab from the start. SDS really needs to take a hard look at themselves and figure out if they want to make us (consumers) happy, or want to milk as much money as they can out of us.

It would also help greatly if the cards they did release weren't nerfed versions of cards from previous year. Jacoby Ellsbury and Joe Mauer are prime examples. I was so excited to see some of the cards come into the game, right up until I saw them.

Everything you’ve been saying about the game is true. My biggest annoyance is just the very very over challenging grind for some cards. Unless you play this game 24/7 then you won’t get half of the stuff. The rosters don’t get updated well enough, player upgrades are like very rare and the rewards for most game modes are very very weak especially since the servers are still impossible to play.

Next year, if they do keep immortals, they should make a system where you can only use two or 3 immortals on your team, or you could get all the immortals but you can only use 2 or 3 immortals on your team just so you can focus on getting other cards too

Everything he said is very true once you get immortals play their immortal mission you can basically stop playing. They ruined team collections. You don't get anything from it since you get a vlad but you have to collect every single player in the game so if you can't afford that there's no point collecting teams. The ruined team epics because the cards aren't that good and you have to grind a ton just for one.

Hey Marc, I just wanted to know if you can do a in depth analysis of the playoff races in each division of the league. I know you did a brief one, but it would be great if you dig deeper in statistics. I’m also dodger fan and the past 3 wins against the D-Backs have been amazing. Maybe you could also do a video on that series!

Madden offers solo challenges to get you coins but mlb there is no way to earn stubs so some of the best cards are unattainable without spending money.

You have two options in this game: grind against the CPU for hundreds of hours or be at a disadvantage in nearly every online game

I agree 1000000%. I've been saying the same thing for months. Immortals make all other content in the game irrelevant. It is ZERO fun play against the same exact team every game and once you get to a certain point in Ranked Seasons that's literally all it is, entire 99 overall teams. Boring and gives me zero interest in the game.

Stubs were way more retainable in 17, by this time last year I had stubs all the time. I've had 55k for the past 2 weeks

I am definitely not the guy who spends enough money or time on the game to get more than one or two immortals, and what upsets me the most this year is the complete and utter failure to give us new cards. I go through last years game and there were so many to chose from. This year the game is getting sooooo boring because there is no variation.

I dont mind immortals but they used too few of them.. Only 12 1 at each position is not enough... Everyone has the same team.. If you had 30-40 immortals in the game everyone would have mixed teams

Why is so hard to add cards every week in an update? If a certain player has a good week make that a card with exceptional stats. Similar to that of player of the month but just for a week.

As someone who started playing the show this year and started diamond dynasty late because I started with rtts I think immortals could be tweaked going forward because the grind is overly difficult 19 needs to tweak to avoid backlash. Thanks for the hard work.

i think the best content realease model is fifa . they realease the best cards in middle of the season , and then at the final they realease a "package" for every high rated league in the world. also , they bring good cards every week and every month.

The concept is terrific! Hope they keep it, but I hope they roll out the immortals slowly and individually next year. I don’t wanna open the programs tab on day 1 to see a bunch of cards that are amazing that I can’t get for another 3 months.

They should limit the amount of immortal cards you can have in your lineup. They’d never do it because then people wouldn’t spend money to get more than one immortal. They got greedy and ruined the game.

It took way too much grinding for the Immortals. I'm a casual player, and I know I will never have a good enough team because I don't have enough time to unlock Immortals. So really where's the incentive to play when I know that no matter what, I'll never have any of the best cards?

I really have no idea how diamond dynasty works because i cant depend on internet connectivity where i live. Spending stubs on all that shit to unlock immortals sounds very sleazy. Why have all of our games been infected with this microtransaction bullshit. I have played mlb the show for past couple years only road to the show and franchise mode. I can see now why both modes have seen minimal updates year to year because san diego studios are focusing all of their resources on developing this shady microtransaction system.

They need to fix immortal attributes.power contact etc back to the maximum of 99 overall and not above 100...So new card in the game can be compared (new content).

Yeah I can’t spend that many stubs to get a player. Remember my friend always saying “oh you get so many stubs” I’m like I get 10k stubs and I spend over 30k subs. Not worth it

You glossed over a main point. The grind! I know why you did as to drive home the point of why would you care about any other cards. The grind is stupid in itself with no other reason needed. I don’t mean time and difficulty but rather the senseless way you play against the cpu on rookie level to achieve it. Why would that be the way they would want the consumer to enjoy their game and to showcase it. I agree with all your points.

SDS doesn't care, they are all about the micro-transaction now. Some people have a life and can't afford the mind-numbing grind to stay competitive. I quit playing this game months ago and frankly don't miss it and unless something drastic changes, don't intend to buy it this year.

I didn’t like the new 125 ratings. The Immortals were a nice idea but they should’ve went off of a single year. Last year there was so much diversity in all the lineups you faced in Ranked. I stopped playing back in June, and who wants to play hours against the computer? So much grinding this year

Being a person that plays most games at no money spent, immortals were impossible for me to get. I would play a BR run or two and would even get an immortal in there. The idea was sick but honestly, u either have to pay for those cards or really work a ton of stubs that many people don’t have the luxury to get. I love baseball and the show has been a sick game every year(for the most part) but this year it was a major L. The content has been subpar, I feel especially bad for guys like urself and Koogs/Shelfy; etc because u all r great creators but this game is holding u guys back. At this point, i would have rather them re-release MLB The Show 17 with different cover art cause at least that game was a little bit more enjoyable than this crap shoot.

It's not so much the immortals more so the new, rating system where attributes max out at 125. Essentially somebody with 50 power actually has 25 power do the max power being 125. They need to rid next years mlb of this and souvenirs.

Great video. The souvenirs really put me off from the beginning to even put in time to get those immortals. I don’t waste my money to buy stubs/VC. I like to earn them by playing the game, but the prices the souvenirs are going for is just ridiculous. Especially early when the game came out, you had hats/jerseys going for at least 500 stubs. I hope next year’s game they completely kill the souvenirs off. Make it a lot more tolerable to get these cards.

REVOFEV don’t count on it. I bet they have made more money off this years game than they ever have. If the game did not have a monopoly on mlb games for ps4 than maybe they would remove money making schemes like the souvenirs. But they have no competition

I wish there was not one standout player at each position like immortals make it so there is a wide variety of players at each position that could be the best player in the game for example last year at SS I thought Hardware was Hanley was the best shortstop to use but others liked POTM Correa, Corey Seager, 99 Ripken, Ernie Banks, and others I can’t even think of, the point is there were so many options at each position and it was cool playing other teams that used so many different players

But if you release these immortals at the end of the game's cycle, who is still playing the game? By time Madden releases the TOTY players and golden tickets, half of the players have switched over to another game or are tired of the game and are awaiting the next release. You want your fan base to get the most out of the players so by releasing them when they did, people can use them at the alleged height of MLB 18

I have 8 immortals and will get at least 3 more without spending a dime on the game. I’ve grinded nearly 700 hours on DD to do it, though. I grind every daily mission, every monthly mission, sell all unnecessary souvenirs, etc. I sell duplicates, sell event rewards, sell ranked season rewards and don’t play battle royale. I’ve never paid the “buy now” price for any souvenir. I acquired all through buy orders and it took time and patience. I sum, I’ve played the game with one goal (get immortals) and have done everything possible to horde stubs to do so without spending money. I have the excel spreadsheets to show it. So, getting immortals without spending money is possible. Peeps need to stop saying it isn’t. It just takes commitment, patience and some ability.
