As a Pakistani, I have found your research on a basis of fact and figures and whatever you said apart from political differences, are right. Military coup and bad policies have been major enemy of Pakistan's economy.
The Pakistani Military owns most of the national economy and evades a lot of taxes which can go into nation building. Bahria Town and Fauji foundation are prime examples. These are considered charitable foundations and pay less taxes and have monopoly in business.
Another reason for their economic boom in the 60's was Bangladesh or the erstwhile East Pakistan. They took our wealth and fed their people. East Bengal or East Pakistan contributed to 62% of the government revenue of Pakistan and got roughly 25% in return. After 1971, there was no 'East Pakistan' to exploit.

Soviet invasion of Afghanistan played a pivotal role in terror factories in Pakistan, while Soviet collapse played a pivotal role in making india to move into to a market economy. Both the South Asian economies were influenced by the West vs Communist geopolitics, even till this date.
I wish the soviets would won, then socialist Afghanistan could be preserved when they were seeing hdi growth. In 1975 Afghanistan was richer than India.

I am your regular viewer from Pakistan and the reasons that Pakistan is lagging behind in most of economical indicators are 1. Pakistan involving itself in the Afghan wars in the 70s , 80s and 2000s ( War on terror) . 2. No expansion of the tax network 3. Subsidies given to the elite and rich e.g Sugar and Real Estate sectors. There is no incentive for the investor to set up a factory that can export and it is easier for them to invest in a plot of land and earn more which is not benefitting anyone and doesn't increase productivity and employment. 4. No FDI because of the wars that Pakistan fought on the western front and that created a security issue which we are still facing today. There are many more reasons aswell for example not spending on education and agticulture sectors. Pakistan has the lowest literacy rate in all of south aisa.
Most of the points you said must be true.. a stable, prosperous, sanely religious (not religiously fanatic), educated pakistan is good for india too... as india have always got well with civilian democratic governments in pakistan.. during nawaz sheriffs time with vajpayye. And even in modi-nawaz sheriff times too... but pakistan military derailed the peace talks with kargil war and pathankot-uri attacks... now india-pakistan relations is back to square one .. and india have kindf learned to avoid /ignore pakistan too in recent times... may be once a moderate democratic stable govt with less military intervention in pakistan happens.. india -pakistan relationship will improve and solutions for the issues could be findout too
As a Sri Lankan and Buddhist. Same thing our Sri Lanka. Buddhism is not the state religion of our country. But Buddhism has been given great priority in Sri Lanka. Religion (Buddhism) and politics are mixed in our country. Most Buddhist monks have forgotten the role of the monk. Doing politics. Some Buddhist monks have become radicalized. Very sad to say. This is the reason for the economic crisis in our country.😭😭
I don't think buddhism has any role to play in SriLanka's downfall , it has got to do with dynastic politics of Rajpaksha's and screwed up policies like big infrastructure airport projects and 100% organic farming.
So these are clear lessons for us indians also if we don't want to repeat same mistakes either our's Or pakistan's 1) Socialism doesn't work. Countless examples and our own experience suggests same so we should continue and improve our current path of capitalist economic reforms and infrastructure building 2) We should strengthen our institutions so as to resist any authoritarian and religious extremism that would destroy the peace and prosperity of country 3) we must focus on human development because even a country with 5 million people who are well educated, free spirited, entrepreneurial and innovative can do better than a country of 500 million with less human development
I take issue with 2 & 3: 1. The idea of Pakistan's extremist path is not applicable to India. Pakistan's political and military elite deliberately chose the anti economic path as they had realised by the 70's and even more so by the 90's (failure of Stan bloc) they don't want the economic path because their society and country would be consumed under it. 2. Human development is a second order effect of economic progress. A country that overproduces it's elite will be ruled from the outside.
When industry were infant in late 1800 even America was protecting its infant industry. Today opening up works because 1. Industry of west comes to east for cheap labour. 2. Consumers get better products at lesser price. But before independence our industry was crushed by uk as they sold cheap saree bangle agarbatti etc to us and not let us develop heavy industry. Jl nehru was clear foundation needs to be strong so instead of Consumer goods we sacrificed to produce heavy industry. 1990s this power steel engineering industry was used to make industrial machine which produced Consumer goods. So socialism was not an ideology , it was a curtain under ussr to grow at home. U dnt let your infant roam around. Once same infant grows up you dnt stop or protect.

U did great research but missed a point that Manmohan Singh did not liberalise the economy on his own will. India was forced to open its economy in order to take help from IMF in BOP crisis of 1991. That was the sole reason for economy to open up to the world. India was never ready for that because britishers came as traders and ruled over us, which made Indian government fearful of foreign companies.

Religion is one of the prominent reason behind what happened to pakistan 🇵🇰. To much extremist thoughts on religion is dangerous , it could harm india 🇮🇳 to we have to be aware.
Between Islamism and war on Terror, Pakistan had found a sweet spot which it milked for 50 years. How on earth can you continue thinking this applies to India?
@@chethanshajan9047 religious extremism is not unique but the identitarian politics causes it to be. Unlike conservatives in other countries, Pakistani elite does not have a history, foundation myth, theological mandate or continuing tradition. This causes them to essentially treat Pakistan as a temporary state of being. To some they are waiting for capture and conversion of the entire subcontinent, to most people it is the subsumation into the global ummah under the Caliphate. This causes their identity crisis on who they really are. When a Pakistani salutes to their flag, they are honouring Islam which is unlike any other nation. Their political elites realise this either through ideology(Liaqat Ali, Zia ul Haq, Yahya Khan) or experience (liberals like Bhutto family, Gilani, Shaukat Ali and even Imran Khan who are liberals outside and conservatives inside the country). Playing the welfare nation state game will cause them harm because they can never be energy surplus or keep a market economy to compete with either Asia or the Middle East. They even tried the Stan grouping which failed purely due to lack of cultural coherence.
@@rutvikrs The pakistani elite isn't the entire pakistani nation and we hv often seen that radical religious ideologies themselves (Islamic fundamentalism in this case) provides their own foundational myths and cooked up historical narratives. It's only a matter of how much radicalism the politician peddling it requires to mobilise the masses in his support and any society given the optimum conditions can be brought to this state. Pakistan definitely has the potential and population to maintain a healthy market economy if it manages to bring major structural changes and evicts the military from its political institutions. The stan grouping failed because of the war in Afghanistan, Pakistan's affinity to the taliban, Russian and Chinese interests in Central Asia. If cultural coherence was the determinant then Pakistan is probably the only country other than Turkey in the middle East that can claim substantial turkic lineage to central Asia.
Bro, you missed another factor. After 1971, a percentage of Pakistan's money was diverted towards radicalisation to cause disturbances in India, which increased in later years...
Why do Indians think this is a problem when it's quite an ingenious solution Pakistan came up with? If they play the economic game they lose my friend.

We need to acknowledge the role of Ch Ajit Singh in LPG reforms. Ch Ajit Singh ji prepared the draft of LPG reforms way before Dr Manmohan Singh ji but couldn't pass te bill because of the backlash from public and trade unions. Dr Manmohan Singh ji brought this because India needed IMF bailout and IMF had put this condition infront of Indian govt.
India was on the brink of bankruptcy during 1991. But Economic policies of Manmohan Singh led to a massive transformation in major business sectors. Or else it would’ve suffered a fate worse than one what Sri Lanka and pakistan is facing now. Even now many do not change those policies.

Tbh given its economic power and democracy, India should be much farther ahead of Pakistan than it already is. Especially with infrastructure, sanitation and poverty. Walking through most major cities of North India compared to Pakistan, you really wouldn’t be able to notice the higher GDP rate and lower rate of poverty in India. They’re both very polluted, very crowded, very dirty, and filled with people.
India was blessed to have a leader like Dr. Manmohan Singh. Uneducated and fake degree holders tried to Tarnish his image but they forgot that he's a gem and most educated politician India ever had, his works spoke louder than his mouth and that is something modern india will always remember.
Hope you make one video on the Gorkhaland struggle too someday Mohak. I believe its a topic that carries with it such weight yet goes heavily unnoticed.
It is bro, The Constitution gave us right to speak and write in our individual languages. No type of government should impose their majority language on a minority group. Its Majoraterian. I'm from West Bengal too.
I find it kinda amusing that 🇵🇰Pakistan is the World’s 5th Most-populous country but Ranks 40+ in terms of Economy 😂 Even 🇧🇩Bangladesh that’s 8th Most-populous is 35th in economy 😅

As a Pakistani I love your videos Mohak bhai. Everything said in this video is true and thats also true that we stopped focusing on our economy and fought on the basis of religion and other. We should’ve focused on our economy
But Pakistan is already an Islamic nation, on what topic did pakistani people fought in the name of religion? I would like to know the motive behind struggle.

Hey! Very informative and factual video, I must say.. One thing was absolutely correct that liberalisation could’ve been done earlier that would’ve boosted the Indian economy a lot.. Due to that, perhaps India would’ve been less trade deficit as compared to now and would have also established India as one of the most finest Capitalist economies, due to our capital and skill investment…
To those crediting manmohan solely , should remain he had roles in finance even 15 yrs before 1990s ! Credit goes to pv narasimha rao , the PM for implementing the liberalization , even though because of IMF conditions it was inevitable (which wasnt even new, china, japan and pakistan have done that atleast a decade before india !)
You skipped a very important fact. India was able to nurture a highly capable IT sector. Followed by Management skills. This great achievement must be credited to the great leader Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. It was his vision to set up IIT with an ambitious plan to develop Indian youth in Science and Technology. Human development is the key to Indian success. This success fuelled the economy, and not the other way round, I believe. Thanks, great video!!

Look at 17:00 India's per capita income is still not that far ahead of Pakistan. We still have lots of work to do. Even Thailand Cambodia and Phillipines veitnam have higher GDP per capita. Beating Pakistanis should not be enough, we have to take on China.
