I will share an incident from a TimHortons. I was waiting for my donut and coffee. A Chinese man in his 40s got his coffee. He threw the bill and the cup cover right there! I politely told him that this is a public place and it is our civic duty to keep it clean and the bin is just behind you. He just ignored me and left. The other customers were Indians. The store workers were Indians. The look on their face told me that they have no idea what I was talking about. I picked up the litter and threw it in the bin. Greeting with ‘hello’ and saying ‘thank you’ is unimaginable.

What happened is Canada mei diploma mill shuru hogai hai.... which through the agencies take advantage our desperation to study abroad. Unprecedented scale mei students chale gaye hai... Selection criteria bhi bahut low hai. There are videos of ppl who left whier well paid job in india n took admission in some xyz college Canada in hopes of making it big to get a PR. Some Indian aunty was using insane pressure tactics at Walmart in a Canadian student town to coerce young 18yo college students into signing up for Walmart's Mastercard program. It was downright unethical, forcing kids to get credit cards. She just wouldn't accept defeat. I don't know what it was, but she didn't seem to understand the concept of, "thanks but I will pass for now" or "thanks, I will look at it later". As much as it hurt me to do so I had to basically step in sternly and say "NO. LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE". Walmarts used to be staffed by teenagers saving money for college now it is fully staffed by Indians. Some of them are hard workers and genuinely try, but the rest just scam the same college students who can't even get the Walmart jobs anymore. It is a double punch in the face of average Canadians.

I am an Indian from the South living in Germany....I can tell for a fact that we Indians seriously lack social awareness and have 0 Civic sense. We forgot to realize it's not India where it's acceptable. I’ve deleted instagram because reading all the hate comments makes my mind sick. The lack of critical thinking in people always pisses me off. I agree with canadians on many points too. As an Indian, i have assimilated completely with the Canadian culture but im still a part of targeted hate because of my skin. I still always have my guard up to create an extra nice impression always. If i make white friends, i always think in the back of my mind that they would be the same people writing those comments. A lot of it is also pushed through political propaganda since elections are coming. I’m insecure about my future in Canada. I don’t know if the changing political tension would get me a PR (permanent residency). I’ve taken a shitty course in college due to lack of information. The westerners claim that indians are taking their jobs which is true. It's not our problem if we are skillfull, companies are hiring more Indians, foreign universities giving admission to them. If there was a real problem with the indian people no country would grant them work permit and visas. Second is because of most of the stereotypes developed over the years by western press mainly BBC. Not just indians, but muslims and blacks also get this hate. So this hate has nothing to do with what happens in india but mostly is because of mass emigration.

Well as an immigrant who has been in Canada for 30 years, it’s not just one particular issue but international students from India and influx of refugees that the Trudeau government accepted has made Canada deteriorate. The wasaga beach incident is true and they were Indians, we recently also had an incident where a 25 year old Indian stole a car and attempted to drive over police cruisers in order to escape from a Tim Hortons drive thru. This incident could have significantly injured many other people nearby. 1 guy was arrested at a water park because he went around gropping and molesting other women, again that was an Indian. Not everyone is perfect but there has been a serious uptick in crime since mass migration has taken place. If they cannot assimilate and follow the law here then they should just be deported, Canadians would not have a problem with immigration if they came and followed the rules. Trudeau isn’t perfect and I’ll be glad when he’s voted out, but you cannot blame an individuals behaviour on the government. Where are these people’s civic sense?? I said what I said.

I live in canada from 7years. And I had this kind of situation so many times when its so cold or so windy. And you can not find any washrooms and if they have it, its always closed. Because of homeless people starts living there. So no other options to run back to home or restaurant. And if you are in so much emergency you have no option.

As an India born Canadian citizen, I can tell you that the BO is real. I’ve had to buy, with my own money, a brown girl that I hired deodorant, upon receiving multiple complaints from her colleagues.

The driving part is so real, you cannot defend Indian driving it's so bad but still people have started to pass of stupid driving sense by calling it a matter of skill it's so dumb for example if you go out at night, you will see everyone using high beam headlights thinking they can see more of the road when in reality it actually decreases the amount of road you would see compared to if everyone didn't use the damn high beama cause basic "biology of eyes" the glare especially from the led headlights almost blind the driver for a few seconds and yet no one is bothered and everyone just keep doing the same shit, this is especially true for two lane roads or roads which don't have a divider to shield you from the highbeams of oncoming traffic. But no one understands it and there are a million other reasons why driving experience here is sooo bad!!, it's so annoying!!

For example, what if you are a vegan or have a food allergy, when you are at Tim Hortons? There should be a law that all restaurants serving a majority of English speaking customers, should have at least one staff member who speaks, reads & writes grade 10 English, and can read ingredients, food warnings, or technical instructions... )

It’s not just generational Indo-Canadians but naturalized Indo-Canadians as well. The issue really became terrible during Covid when the Canadian government created an immigration loophole. Basically they removed all checks and rules for study visas temporarily, they allowed unlimited working hours for international students, they allowed spouses of international students to work, they let visitors on tourist visa to convert to study and work permit while being in Canada. So this happened for around 3 years until now, and it created a very low level of immigrants that seeped through the system. This outrage is against them primarily, so everyone who worked super hard to get through the process legitimately is pissed off at them. Unfortunately this does enable closeted racists as well, but at this point can you really blame them?

I want advice on something. Context about me, a soon-to-be 18-year-old male, living near Delhi, in an upper middle class household. To me for the most of my life, I have lived with proper ethics, hygiene and cleanliness. I use a meme app and there, a major population is american. I face racism of no-point in unrelated scenarios and in the same I used to argue with them, blame it on others and whatnot. Now that I am looking into this all and also this video by Shwetabh, I want to know what I can do in these situations. Can I just simply not exist on that app now? Is there no solution to this? Do I have to wait out till I grow 50 and maybe india develops into a better civic sense country and then I can say that I am proud to be indian without getting hate? By far, the only thing that works is, either turn their racism into a joke and then not respond or outright ignore. that can be the solution but it involves me refraining myself everywhere. let's change the scenario. I am studying for CS and am passionate about it. What if I in the future decide to move abroad for better opportunities and then face in-hand racism coming from a point of generalisation? What then? I want to hear thoughts from you guys without your biases. Without blames.
